I can see that his sins are weighing on him. All of us are tired, but Barret feels the strain of our months of fighting more than most. He has a daughter who he is doing this for, but I know that he worries about leaving her alone, especially now that the ShinRa know where she is. Cait Sith– Reeve, we discovered– is an honorable man, but if it was possible for him to find Marlene then Heidegger and Scarlet could easily do so as well. Barret would never forgive himself if something were to happen to Marlene while he was away, just as I can never forgive myself for failing to protect that which I held dear.
