A/N: I noticed in the first year, Alex referred to things has going down the rabbit holes a couple of times (Eps: The Insider and The Pardoners Tale). I thought it was funny so I tried to explain why she used the metaphor so here it goes.
Rabbit Holes
"So, Eames what's with you and err…rabbit holes?" Detective Goren asked, his partner Detective Eames, while they were filling out the rest of the paper work.
"Huh?" she asked, glancing up at her work, giving him a look of confusion.
"Rabbit holes?" he asked again. She gave him a smile and went back to her paper work. Goren studied his partner and realized she was embarrassed by his question. He gave a cheeky smile to himself and stood up. Eames didn't glance up until he sat on her desk, almost blocking the work she was doing. She looked up at him, a little annoyed, but he could see her face a little red from discomfort.
"Tell me," he asked her. Eames narrowed her eyes at him for a second and turned back to her paperwork.
"No," she answered, firmly. She kept writing on, until Goren felt he was being ignored. He swiped her pen and put it behind his back out of her reach. She looked up glaring at him.
"Goren, pen," she ordered him, holding her hand out. Goren smiled cheekily.
"C'mon tell me," he asked, in a boyish voice. Eames grinned and laughed. She shook her head and tried to grab her pen, quickly, but Goren was fast and held her hand with his free hand.
"Good reflexes," she commented, smiling.
"The army," he told her. She nodded her head, raising her eyebrows at him.
"I see," she said standing up, leaning towards him. "Want coffee?"
Goren nodded and followed over to the coffee maker. He realized she wanted to tell him there. He leaned against the table and smiled at her.
"So, what's the history," he asked, curiously. Eames poured some hot water and waited for it to cool a little.
"It's embarrassing," she told him.
"How embarrassing?"
"Extremely embarrassing," she answered, quickly. Goren stared at her. She sighed and leaned against the table.
"Ok, I had a dream of having a rabbit when I was young," she told him and tried to step away from him. He blocked her path, she sighed again this time in annoyance.
"And every time when I asked, my dad explained to me the bad rabbits went in the rabbit holes. So every time I went to the pet store, I used to scream for a rabbit, over and over again. One day, I asked the assistant told me the rabbit holes only existed in small towns, not cities. So one day I let all the rabbits out down the street and they ran into the sewers. I kept calling them rabbit holes, so that's the story," she finished up and grabbed her pen from him. She sipped her coffee and sat back down.
"That's not all," Bobby disagreed to her, sitting at his own desk.
"Ok, I slipped into the sewers trying to catch them," she confessed, slowly going red. Goren giggled at little. Eames smiled and flushed in humiliation.
"There you go down the rabbit hole," Goren teased and sat at his desk and kept going on with the rest of the paperwork. Eames stared at him in surprise. She never thought her metaphor would work on her.
A/N: I know really weird and random, I thought I could make a joke about her rabbit hole faze. So if you laughed, thank you. If not and you think I need to go back to my mental institution thank you too, lol.
