Young Justice: Turbofied
Chapter 1: Prologue
San Francisco, California, USA
A wail of sirens could be heard echoing through the city that held one of the United States' most recognizable bridges, the Golden Gate Bridge. However, it wasn't the bridge that required emergency services, specifically the police, but rather one of San Francisco's banks. The bank's main entrance had been smashed in by what could have only been a wrecking ball, but the residents of the city knew better, and whoever was still in the bank knew those two. Emerging from the wrecked entrance were the ones who were responsible.
Dressed in bizarre costumes that somewhat resemble royal attire, the Royal Flush Gang consisted of five members: King, Queen, Jack, 10, and Ace. The Royal Flush Gang were currently riding on what looked to be extremely large cards like they were hoverboards, with large sacks of money by their feet. Only Ace was without a board, the heaviest of them all, being a robot. The Card Themed bank robbers didn't seem too worried about the police cars that had already gathered and the officers aiming their weapons at them.
"You have nowhere to go," said the police chief of San Francisco, Ellen Yin. She was holding up a megaphone in her left hand and a Glock 22 in her right, "Surrender now."
"I don't think we will," stated King with a superior tone before turning to their muscle, "Ace, remove the rabble."
Without a word, Ace charged toward the gathered police officers who fired as soon as the villain moved. The bullets from their handguns bounced off Ace as he neared the closest police car. Jumping into the air, the Royal Flush Gang's muscle slammed down onto the vehicle crushing it while sending multiple officers scattering. Getting off the vehicle, Ace lifted up the wreckage overhead and headed towards where Chief Yin was. The Police Chief fired her Glock at Ace, the muscle barring down on her, but as the villain was about to slam the vehicle down onto her, a sudden flash of Cyan blue burst between them.
"Go Turbo: Strength!" a man's voice shouted. Even with his vision spotty, Ace swung the car down but was stopped by something as strong as him. As the spots cleared, the Royal Flush Gang member was face to face with San Francisco's protector: Max Steel in Turbo Strength Mode.
"Payday isn't until next Friday, guys," quipped Max Steel as he yanked the car out of Ace's hands and used it to swat the bruiser away and into the steps leading up into the bank.
"Crap, it's Max Steel!" shouted 10, her eyes widening as did the other members of the Royal Flush Gang when the hero made his entrance.
"Corny lines: check," noted Steel, the 'M' on Max Steel's chest flashing as the Ultralink spoke, "Never get tired of bank robbers."
"Neither do I, Steel," Max agreed, dropping the Police car before returning his attention to the bank robbers, "So, we gonna do this the easy way, or the hard way?"
King grit his teeth before directing his focus to the other Royal Flush Gang members, "Scatter! Ace, keep the hero occupied."
With that, the Royal Flush Gang split up, using their hover cards to escape while Ace charged toward Max Steel once more. The Gang's muscle pulled his fist bank and tried punching the hero, but Max was ready as he blocked the punch before countering with an uppercut. The hero's fist was engulfed with T.U.R.B.O. Energy, leaving a small trail through the air as the blow connected with Ace's chin. The punch completely knocked the villain into the air before crashing back down. While Ace was down for the moment, Max directed his attention to the fleeing Card-themed villains.
"Think we can hit them all, Steel?" inquired Max. Behind the helmet, his H.U.D. marked each villain trying to escape, and then plotted a route to strike their card hoverboards.
"One way to find out," stated the Ultralink as it disconnected from the hero's chest in a flash of cyan blue energy. Locking his digits into the duo's iconic 'M', Max grabbed Steel's arm and charged some energy into him.
"Turborang!" shouted Max as he hurled the Ultralink like a boomerang, the alien robot spinning fast enough to essentially become a blade of T.U.R.B.O. Energy. While Steel was not a fan of this move, he couldn't deny it was effective at times, especially when dealing with multiple bad guys. As was the case right now as Steel cut through each of the Royal Flush Gang's boards, sending the villains falling to the ground. They weren't high enough to be seriously injured, but the fall still wasn't without its pain.
With the bad guys' transportation out of commission, Steel flew back to Max, who caught the Ultralink.
"D-Did we get 'em?" inquired Steel, his usual single eye replaced by a swirling symbol, his little way of showing he was dizzy.
"They're not going anywhere any time soon," confirmed Max, however, the bank robbers weren't out of the fight yet, as pretty soon King, Queen, Jack, and 10 were back on their feet, none of them looking too happy, "But they're not down yet."
Crossing his arms in his chest, Max got ready to change Modes "Go Turbo: Speed!" In a bright flash, Turbo Strength Mode's bulky frame lit up bright before it broke apart into hundreds of small hexagons. A moment later, the pieces began rejoining into a smaller form, this one far sleeker and streamlined with streaks of green here and there.
"Don't think speed alone is gonna cut it, Max," advised Steel, running the probability of this working through his processor. The odds didn't look so good, granted, they have faced worse and emerged victors.
"Then let's even the odds a bit," quipped Max as his body lit up once more, "Go Turbo: Clone!"
Max's body didn't change, only the color scheme, having more blue in it, but there was a definite change in the odds as there were now five Max Steel's in Turbo Speed Mode.
"Let's go!" shouted Max as he and his clones sped toward the Royal Flush Gang, each clone taking one member.
King was already on his feet and attempted to use his scepter to shoot a bolt of electricity at the hero, but thanks to Speed Mode, the Max Steel clone was easily able to avoid the burst of electricity. In a burst of speed, the clone sped around King, swiping his scepter before knocking the would-be-bank robber out with a quick uppercut. The other members of the Royal Flush Gang were just as quickly taken care of, with Queen and 10 being swept off their feet by two Max Steel clones and placed into a police car and handcuffed. Meanwhile, Jack had tried using his laser eye, but couldn't direct his attention fast enough to the hero to shoot the clone before it had closed in and landed a flurry of punches to Jack's chest. The barrage of fists had knocked the wind out of the villain before he and King were also put into a police car and handcuffed as 10 and Queen had been.
This just left Ace, which the original Max Steel had been distracting.
With the other villains taken care of, the Max Steel Clones rejoined the original.
"And then there was one," quipped Max Steel as he readied himself to change modes once more, "Go Turbo: Strength!"
Like before, a bright flash lit up the immediate area as Max changed back to Strength Mode. Ace charged toward the hero, Max meeting the charge, and the two collided in a powerful clasp of hands. With a grunt of exertion, Max Steel forced the android back, his arms and legs radiating T.U.R.B.O. energy before he smashed his head into Ace's. Forcing the villain's left hand down, Max Steel slugged his foe across the face, his fist coated in energy. Then, pulling his left arm back, Max Steel punched with all his might into Ace's stomach, punching right through the robot's chest, tearing out the power cell that powered Ace and holding it in his hand.
Max then tore his arm out, still holding the power cell, and let Ace fall back, his eyes fizzing out as the robot powered down.
"Guess they upgraded Ace since last time," noted Max as looked down at the power cell while Steel unlinked from his chest to scan Ace.
"I would say so," confirmed Steel, noting multiple upgrades meant to handle the influx of T.U.R.B.O. Energy, "Guess they were getting tired of always losing to us."
Max shrugged as he then crushed the power cell before turning to Ellen Yin, who was making her way toward him.
"Nice to see you keep collateral damage to a minimum this time," noted Yin in a somewhat wry tone.
"Never gonna let me live that down, huh?" guessed Max as he turned to the police chief, his body flashing as Strength Mode vanished and was replaced by the default Steel Suit.
"No," replied the police chief dryly before snorting as a faint smile appeared, "But I am glad you listened to my advice."
"Pretty sure preserving national monuments goes without saying," spoke up Steel as he hovered over to the two while some officers were gathering the wreckage of Ace.
Ellen Yin was a woman of Asian descent and had her long dark hair in a ponytail. She currently was wearing a red jacket with a black shirt underneath brown khaki pants and black leather boots. Not something the chief of police would normally be wearing, but Yin's reputation more than allowed her to choose what she wanted to wear. Having been the chief of police in Metropolis before transferring to Gotham to work as a detective, before lastly transferring to San Francisco to be chief of police again, Ellen had more than enough experience under her belt.
When Max Steel made his debut in the city, his and the Police Chief's relationship was rocky at first, mainly because he nearly broke the Golden Gate Bridge when one of Max's enemies made their debut. However, their relationship improved over time and it wasn't long before the hero would coordinate with the police when the situation called for it.
"I suppose it does," agreed Yin with a nod as she directed her complete attention to Max, "Thanks for lending a hand."
"We were in the neighborhood so we decided to drop in," the hero explained as he gestured to himself and his partner.
"I'm sure," smirked Yin as she placed a hand on her hip, "Also, thanks for handling Brick and his cronies last month. Been trying to nail him for sometime when he escaped from Belle Reve."
"The credit goes to Fire and Ice," corrected Max, glancing to the side for a moment, "I just helped make sure the hired help didn't get away."
"Right," nodded the Police Chief, before a thought crossed her mind, "Should I expect to see those two around more often?"
Max was about to answer that, but Steel beat him to it, cutting in to answer Yin.
"Oh yeah," confirmed the Ultralink, "You can say they'll be around here way more often."
"Is that so?" inquired Yin, her experience as a detective coming into play, "Care to comment on that, Max Steel?"
"Uh...," the hero trailed off as he looked away. It was pretty funny seeing a hero in a battlesuit that could level a city look embarrassed, "Nooo?"
Ellen chuckled as she shook her head, "Don't need to see your face to know something is going on between you three."
"You don't know the half of it," added Steel, his single eye having a mischievous gleam to it.
"Don't you have some bank robbers to take back to the station?" inquired Max quickly wanting to change the subject.
"Avoiding the subject; typical of someone who has a crush," snorted Ellen with amusement, "But you do have a point. All the money stolen has been collected, Ace has been picked up, and since you already cuffed the rest of the Gang and put them in the squad cars, that just leaves a few other things."
With that, Ellen turned to leave, "I'll make sure to give you a call if we need your help again."
"Thanks, Ellen," thanked Max, internally sighing with relief that the subject had been changed. However, the police chief suddenly turned on her heel and reached over to grab the hero's shoulder to pull him over.
"You had better take care of both of them, hero-boy," whispered Ellen into his ear before letting him go to flash him a smile, "Take care, Max Steel."
Max's eyes widened slightly as the former detective turned to walk away, the smallest of sway in her hips with her right hand resting on her hip. Leaving a perplexed hero behind and it was moments like this that Max was seriously glad that the Steel suit came with a helmet, because the moment he realized what happened, his jaw dropped.
Ellen Yin, the chief of police of San Francisco had a thing for him?!
"... Why me?" muttered Max, resting his head in his hands.
"If it makes you feel any better, you're dad had similar experiences when he and I first came to Earth," offered Steel, earning a scowl from Max, "Besides, I think she's just messing with you."
"Yeah... maybe," Max trailed off before he composed himself, "Come on, we better get home."
"Way ahead of you," agreed the Ultralink as the two got into position.
"Go Turbo: Flight!" The hero shouted as Steel slammed into his chest. Body lighting up once more, pieces of the suit breaking apart before reforming into the aforementioned Turbo Mode. This Mode was obviously designed for flight, having four wings with jets along the wing blade, a central thruster on his back, with maneuvering thrusters on his arms and legs.
Once the mode had fully formed, Max Steel took off into the air and began heading south, toward more neighborhoods and larger homes. Had Steel scanned the rooftops before they left, he would have detected someone standing on one of the roofs watching the hero depart before leaving themselves.
Half Moon Bay, California
It went without saying that Max Steel lived a pretty comfortable life as he closed in on his home away from home. Nestled a few miles south of San Francisco was his own beach house, built right along the edge of the Californian coast with its own pathway to the beach. It wasn't an overly large place of residence, but it was still fairly nice with more than a few additions to make it all the more unique.
Slowing down, Max descended towards a large back deck that connected to a swimming pool. The pool itself was decently sized and had more than enough room to accommodate ten people. Overall, the house was pretty nice and would have been a little much for a single person to be living in alone. Except Max didn't live alone.
Landing on the deck, Max Steel lit up and Flight Mode was quickly replaced with a civilian appearance. Max Steel, or Maxwell McGrath, was a young man, who looked to be in his early twenties with brown hair and bright blue eyes that almost seemed to glow. He was wearing what looked to be a blue t-shirt, grey shorts with blue trimming, and some flip flops. Since it was the summer, it made sense to wear cool clothes.
Steel unlinked from Max's chest and the two made their way towards the house, however, Max stopped when he noticed one of the people he lived with.
Lounging by the pool in one of the chairs was a young girl, who looked to be twenty with snow-white hair and lightly tanned skin. She was wearing a two-piece white string bikini with light blue trimming and had a pair of sunglasses on. The girl had an amazing figure, not an ounce of fat on her body as the bikini she wore accented her hips and generous bust quite nicely. She seemed to be taking in all the sun, at least until Max got in the way.
"Bea, you're in my sun," complained the girl with a Norwegian accent, taking off her sunglasses to scowl at who she thought was Bea. However, she was quite surprised when she saw who it was.
"Pardon me for enjoying the view," smirked Max as he smiled down at her.
"Max!" cried the girl, a smile instantly spreading across her face dropping her sunglasses and jumping up to give the young man a hug. She then leaned in and gave the hero a kiss on the cheek.
Tora Olafsdotter, one of Max's roommates, is actually the daughter of the king of Ice people who secretly live in Norway. Olafsdotter's mother is allegedly famous for her peanut butter and sardine smoothies. When Tora was younger, an engineer named Rod Schoendienst accidentally discovered the Ice people and in an odd turn of events made a pact with the king to take Tora to explore the outside world. Once in the larger world, it didn't Tora long for her to become a superheroine, using the codename Ice, and for her to meet her best friend, Fire.
"You miss me or something, Tora?" asked Max, returning the hug before pulling back to look her in the eyes. Tora's eyes were just as blue as his own, if brighter, "I wasn't gone for that long."
"I know," pouted Tora, looking off to the side, "It just gets boring without you here."
"It can't be that bad?" Inquired Max, tilting his head to the side a bit, "I thought you liked hanging out with Bea?"
"I do, it's just...," Tora trailed off before Steel entered the conversation.
"It's just that you add a different element to the mix, Max," explained Steel hovering next to the two.
"Hi, Steel," greeted Tora warmly.
"Working on your light tan for your and Bea's next photoshoot?" Inquired the Ultralink.
"Yeah," nodded the Norwegian.
"Speaking of Bea, where is she?" Asked Max, noticing she wasn't anywhere he could see.
"Oh, she's inside," answered Tora as she took Max by the hand to lead him into their home, "She said something about making an iced coffee."
"Hope she made enough for all of us," joked Max as he, Tora, and Steel entered the small mansion. The mansion itself consisted of two floors, the first being where the master bedroom, office, bathrooms, living room, kitchen, and dining room where the basement had a guest room, access to the garage, theater/gaming room, and storage. Overall, it was a very nice home.
Currently, the last person living in the house was in the kitchen.
"Bea!" called out Tora, getting the person's attention.
"Tora!" admonished Bea from the kitchen with a Brazilian accent, "You don't have to shout in the house."
"But, Max and Steel are back!" explained Tora. Now that got Bea's attention as she stepped out of the kitchen to see if her best friend was telling the truth.
Bea, or Beatriz Da Costa, was a Latin woman with darker skin and surprisingly, emerald green hair and eyes. Her hair was styled in a way that looked like fire. While Tora's hair was much shorter, not even reaching her shoulders, Beatriz's went down to her hips. For clothes, Beatriz was wearing a small black shirt that hugged her body and a pair of dark green panties. Like Tora, Bea had an amazing body, not a single ounce of fat, and to the Norwegian's envy, a slightly larger bust.
Also, unlike Tora who was a member of a hidden people, Bea was born and raised in Brazil, South America, where her father worked as a spy for the secret service agency, Espiaos Nacionales. During a mission to track down experimental equipment that makes a flammable material called Pyroplasm, Beatriz was accidentally caught in a fight when it came to her hometown. After she was exposed to the Pyroplasm, she gained fire powers and became the superheroine Fire.
"Nice to see you come home, Max," greeted Bea as she approached the man with a warm smile and a gleam in her eye.
"It's good to be home," replied the hero as Bea cupped his face and give him a gentle but loving kiss on his lips, causing Tora to pout as she wished she had done that when she had the chance.
"If only your family could see you know," noted Steel from the side, of course, he meant this in good fun. Plus, he didn't really have much room to speak, given he would hit on pretty much every machine he encountered. However, his comment did cause Tora to tilt her head.
"But, we've already met Max's parents," she pointed out, confused about what he meant. This causes Bea and Max to break their short kiss to smile at Tora's naivete.
"He's just making a joke, Tora," informed Bea, smiling at her best friend before directing her attention to the Ultralink, "Nice to see you too, Steel. How have you been?"
"Eh, can't complain," shrugged Steel, "Just came back from taking down the Royal Flush Gang."
"Isn't that the same bad guys you Max first took on?" asked Tora, remembering a conversation she had with Max. When he and Steel first made their appearance here, it had been actually in San Francisco and the Royal Flush Gang they first took on before they were approached by the Justice League. Since then, Max and Steel have made quite an impact on the world.
"Yeah," confirmed Max, "They upgraded Ace this time around, but they still lost. With no property damage."
"Yin still holding that over your head?" inquired Bea with a chuckle. Max chuckled awkwardly as he scratched the back of his head.
"Pretty sure she's gonna hold that over his head for as long as he's a hero," declared the Ultralink. Earned a laugh from both Bea and Tora while Max just folded his eyes and rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, laugh it up," said the hero sarcastically.
"Come on, Max," giggled Bea, poking Max's cheek, slowly getting a smile to form, "He's only teasing."
Max could help but let an amused snort escape as he caught Bea's hand to stop her, "Yeah, I know he's just kidding."
Max and Steel were practically brothers with how they treated each other. Sometimes bickering, sometimes making jokes, and just doing what brothers would do together. It had been that way since they first linked.
"And don't you forget it," declared the Ultralink brightly.
"Speaking of forgetting, isn't today the start of that COD event you have been so excited about?" inquired Max, internally smirking. As advanced as Steel was, he was way more human than even some people, and despite being a robot, he could still forget some things.
Steel looked up for a moment before his single eye was replaced by a terrified look as a high-pitched shriek escaped from the Ultralink.
"I forgot!" panicked Steel as he shot past the three young adults and towards the stairs, heading down to start up the PS5 and load the latest Call of Duty game.
"Try not to say anything you'll regret, Steel!" called Max after the Ultralink.
"I won't!" replied Steel as the sound of a door closing from downstairs followed.
Max smirked as he shook his head, knowing his best friend all too well. If there was one thing he could count on, it was Steel's love of video games and comic books.
"Seems we have the main floor to ourselves," noted Beatriz, smiling internally as she knew Max only said that to give them some space.
"Like you wouldn't do the same," scoffed Max as he smiled at the Brazilian woman.
"Maybe," shrugged Bea as she headed back to the kitchen, "But I guess we'll never know now."
Max and Tora glanced at each other. They both knew her well enough to know she would have likely done the same, "She definitely would have," stated Max, getting Tora to giggle as they went to the family room that had a large couch, armchair, a fireplace, sliding glass door that connected to the back deck and pool, a plasma screen tv, and a coffee table.
"Tora mentioned you were making some iced coffee," recalled Max as he sat down on the couch with Tora sliding into his lap, prompting him to wrap an arm around her waist to pull her close.
"I was," replied Bea as she reached into a cabinet and retrieved two more glasses, "I assume you and Tora would like some too?"
"Yeah/Yes please," Tora and Max requested at the same time.
"Okay, but only because I love the both of you," said the Brazilian hero teasingly as she poured the iced coffee into the three glasses before carefully bringing the glasses down. Making her way around the couch, the green-haired Latina bent over and setting them on the coffee table. However, since she bent over at her waist, she gave both Max and Tora an inviting view of her rear.
"I know," replied Max as Beatriz sat down beside the hero, scooting closer to him to lean against him, prompting Tora to give her best friend a little more space. Of course, this caused the Norwegian to basically straddle his right leg while the Brazilian is on his left.
"Are you sure you know, Max?" asked Bea, her tone deceptively sweet as she leaned in, her bust brushing against his arm while she rubs her hand against his chest, "Because, I'm not sure you do."
"Maybe we should remind him?" suggested Tora, who could be a bit naive at times, she has been with Bea and Max long enough to know when foreplay begins.
"Maybe we should," purred Bea as she and Tora smiled seductively and started to grind themselves onto his legs.
"Don't wait on my account," smiled Max as his left hand slipped under Bea's shirt to fondle her right breast and rub his thumb on her nipple, while his left hand went to squeeze Tora's rear.
This action caused both girls to moan before they both smiled and leaned in, taking turns kissing him. They move back and forth, each woman moving ever so closer to the point where they cover his lips with their lips. At least, until Bea leans in a bit more, kissing Max a bit more deeply, tangling her tongue with his, while butting out Tora as she reached down and pulled her shirt up, exposing her breasts and dark nipples. Not wanting to be left out, Tora began kissing along Max's neck, reaching behind her neck to grab the string holding her bikini up before tugging on it and letting it fall, exposing her slightly smaller, but still generous breasts to the man she and Bea both loved.
If you told Max that not only would he date not one, but two girls who were both supermodels and who were also heroines. He would have laughed in your face and Steel would have made a crack about how he was lucky to get even one girlfriend. But here he was, having two girls fawn over him. To say life is perfect wouldn't be that far off, but since he is a superhero, things are never perfect.
Later that evening, Max was currently in the home office, working on some documents, and was speaking to someone on the phone, which was specially made to not explode to his Turbo Touch.
The office itself had a similar setup to his Uncle Ferris. To his back was a large window that overlooked the ocean while to his right was a large plasma screen tv, showing some news report in Europe, talking about a robbery at a tech company. Across from the tv, there was a large board that had some of Max's enemies on it; at the center was a photo of his main enemy, Miles Dread. From that photo, Max had created a series of branches, linking Dread to some robberies, villains working with him like the Elementors, Extroyer, Blast, Prism, Killer Frost, Volcana, Deadshot, and a few others.
Despite him and the others being from another universe, Dread was back to his old tricks again, only this time he had more hired help from villains.
Speaking of hired help, Max had made a direct line from Dread to a woman of Asian descent with blue eyes, olive skin color, with a snake tattoo starting at her left shoulder before going across back and down and to her right leg, and dark hair. The photo Max used had her wearing a red dress that hugged her body quite nicely with a hole in her chest, displaying a bit of her cleavage. She was wearing dark glasses without arms, her hair tied back and held in a bun with two pins and a pair of earrings.
From what he could dig up, this was Veronica Sinclair, or Roulette as she is called in the underworld.
As far as Max could tell, she helps get Dread funds for his plans, whatever they might be.
Of course, this wasn't the only villain of focus as next to the large tree was a smaller one that had a woman at the center.
This woman was also of Asian descent. Sandra Wu-San, or Lady Shiva as she is more infamously known. She has short raven-colored hair, black lipstick, and brown eyes. Sandra also has a notably large bust, larger than Bea, who was already DD, wide hips, and a pale complexion. In the photo Max had, she wore a skin-tight bodysuit with long sleeves, shoulder pads, a Mandarin collar, and a diamond-shaped hole on her sternum.
The bodysuit was colored red with dark gray stripes looped around her shoulders and forearms and matching patches on her elbow pits. This pattern is also seen on the hems of her collar and the diamond-shaped hole, whose lower corner hem runs down to the waist, meeting her belt which is adjoined by a golden ring with a sash hanging from it. Her gray skin-tight pants are adorned with dark gray knee pads and stripes coiled around her thighs and shins.
The reason why Max had her photo was a bit different compared to Dread.
"You sure that's everything?" asked Max, the person on the other end apologizing for not getting more intel, "Okay, thanks anyway, Barb. Tell Dick I said 'hi.'"
After that, he hung up the phone and leaned back in his chair, letting out a tired sigh. He had been in the office for quite a while and it was getting a bit late now. Steel was probably still playing COD in the basement while Bea and Tora decided to take a little swim in the pool before going to bed. He would have joined them, but he had to follow up on a lead her got about Dread and what he was doing in Europe.
"They're probably waiting for me," said Max to himself as he got up and was about to head to the master bedroom before he stopped when he saw someone standing in the doorway. It was a woman with thick black hair and olive-colored skin. She was wearing a dark green-colored kimono and it looked to be torn and ripped in a few places. The kimono is tied around her waist, where its length reaches just above her knees, showing her black knee-high boots. To complete her look, the woman was wearing a white mask with red stripes and a wide grin that looked very similar to a Cheshire cat, from Alice in Wonderland.
Normally, when you see someone dressed like that in your home, you automatically assume they are here to kill you, but Max knew better. Or rather, he knew who this was, which was why he wasn't shouting for Steel or the girls.
"Been a while, Jade," said Max calmly, but carefully as he was familiar with how dangerous she could be.
"Long time no see, Maxie," greeted 'Jade' as she removed her mask, revealing her features and her black eyes to him as she made her way toward the hero, "How have you been?"
"I've been doing alright," replied Max as he watched Jade come a bit closer, stopping just in front of him, "You've been staying out of trouble?"
"As best as I can," replied Jade as she set her mask down on the desk and looked around the room, noting the information gathered on Dread, "Still chasing after Miles I see."
"Can you blame me?" asked Max as he leaned against the desk and folded his arms while he watched Jade look over the data.
"I suppose not," shrugged Jade as she moved her attention to Lady Shiva, "But I'm surprised you're looking into Shiva. Figured that would be something the Bat would be investigating."
"Maybe," admitted Max before adding, "But when the deadliest woman on the planet says that she's 'taken an interest' in you, you can't help but feel a little paranoid."
"That's a fair reason," replied Jade as she then noticed a picture near Lady Shiva, and it was a picture of her, "Something I should know about?"
"Well, you were there when she 'tested' me," explained the hero, giving her a pointed look. Jade just shrugged as she resumed looking at the photos, noting one was of Larissa Diaz, aka Copperhead. Jade tilted her slightly, thinking it was a bit odd for Shiva to associate with someone like her before Max interrupted her train of thought, "You wanna explain why you're here?"
"Can't an old friend just pop in and say 'hi?'" giggled Jade glancing back towards Max as she turned to face him.
"Friends normally knock before entering someone's home," corrected Max, as Jade began slowly saunter her way towards Max, obviously rocking her hips as she drew closer.
"Since when were we 'normal friends?'" Jade inquired as she closed the distance between the two, stepping close enough so that her bust was brushing against his chest.
"That's fair, I guess," admitted Max as he rested a hand on Jade's shoulder, keeping her from advancing any further, but the action only caused the deadly fighter to smile flirtatiously.
"We also had fun in ways normal friends wouldn't," added the Vietnamese girl, her tone becoming a bit huskier.
"That is also true," another point conceded from Max as Jade raised her left leg to rest her knee on the desk and lean more into Max, "But I also know you have a reason for everything you do. So what's the reason for your visit?"
Jade pouted, "Is it wrong to want to see someone they miss sometimes?"
Max didn't answer her as he held her gaze and the two spent a moment staring at each other before Jade let out a sigh.
"I heard you were looking into Dread, seeing if you could figure out what he's planning with the Light," explained the young woman as she stepped back folding her arms to tilt her head towards the board, "Thought I would help you out."
"In what way?" asked Max standing up from the desk, cocking an eyebrow as he stepped towards the assassin.
"Gathering information," explained Jade as she tilted her head, "I can't imagine getting info like this is easy."
Max shrugged as she did have a point. It had taken a while to get this much info on Dread, and this time around, it seemed like he was being even more careful to cover his tracks.
"I also figured this might help as well," added the daughter of Sportsmaster as she then reached into her kimono and between her breasts. Max glanced away for a moment, causing Jade to smirk internally as she took out a thumbstick, "It's what I've been able to get on some of the Light's actions."
"You know the Light isn't one for threats?" reminded Max taking the drive from her, remembering that Cheshire had at one point worked for them.
"I know," replied Jade, "But nothing worth doing is ever easy."
Max and Jade stood there for a moment, not saying anything before the former broke the silence, "Thanks, Jade."
"Don't thank me just yet," replied Jade as she turned to leave, but stopped, "I was being honest though."
That sentence caught Max's attention as he stared at Jade, "I do miss you. Even if what we had was just for a little while."
"I know," said Max softly looking down for a second.
"You ever think about how things started?" she asked after another moment of silence, returning her attention to Max.
Max sighed as he looked down at Jade, a faint smile appearing on his lips.
"All the time," he said quietly.
After all, when he and Steel got a call that Dread was messing with some tech from Makino's ship, they had to stop him. They just never thought it would cause them to end up in an entirely different universe.
To Be Continued…
Okay, so the first chapter isn't what any of you were expecting. Many of you expected the story to start off right here, but let me explain why I did this. I wanted to set the tone for the story and to show that this will be rated M and to sort of build what sort of relationships exist between Max, Beatriz, Tora, and Cheshire. You might have noticed I extended the pairing to include Tora, but you may ask why didn't do the same with Cheshire. To be honest, I may though let's see how the story plays out. Another thing you might notice is the little focus on Lady Shiva. I have a plan for her and Max, just wait and see.
That's all I really wanted to say, hope you liked the chapter. The first ones are always the hardest cause you're essentially laying the groundwork for the rest of the story. I apologize if I may have disappointed you with the rather short opening fight, but let's be real for a moment, the Royal Flush Gang are C-list bank robbers and Max Steel is possibly an A-List hero.
Leave a review and I'll hopefully have the next chapter ready not too long after this one.
