If you are wondering why I chose his job as a professor, this is because part of Naruto is that we learn a lot about different philosophies and psychology, all of which interest Naruto to a high extent and criminology is the study of criminal psychology.
Naruto was confused to no end, what were they doing here? How did they find him?
Naruto was an idiot, he really shouldn't have written three books or used his father's last name.
He basically gave them hints about who he was from the very beginning. He should have realised that they would figure it out.
"What are you doing here?" asked Naruto to the group but Sasuke decided to answer for them.
"We came to find you," said Sasuke keeping a straight face "We need your help,"
"Don't you always," said Naruto, smiling sadly to which many of them looked down.
"Okay, dobe," said Sakura trying her best at being annoying "there have been murders of important ninja, powerful ninja and I guess we need your help,"
"Sakura chan, are you stupid?" asked Naruto, to which Sakura made a comedic face " I mean you want my help, but you start insulting me as soon as you see me,".
"Sakura, be quiet," ordered Sasuke to which Sakura obeyed.
"Okay, Shikamaru, Sasuke step into my office," said Naruto to which he got confused looks "Yes I have an office now,"
After the two stepped into his office, his really nice office.
"What happened?" asked Naruto to Shikamaru.
" Someone has been killing members of the Konoha Council, the doors are always locked and no-one gets in and no-one gets out, but they always end up dead," said Shikamaru "We believe his next targets are Hiashi and lord sixth,"
"If it's murder, then why do you need me?" asked Naruto " You think of me as an idiot?"
" Because, we need your understanding of psychology and philosophy," said Sasuke, "you are quite literally a professor of it,"
Naruto nodded, he might have disliked the councillors but no one deserved to die for their action without judgement.
" What do I get out of this?" asked the professor, knowing that they were risks but there should be benefits, much to Sasuke's confusion
"The council is offering you back a position as a shinobi but this time you'll be a Jounin," said Shikamaru, to which Naruto's eyes light up. He now knew how desperate those idiots were.
"Go outside, I'll think about this," said Naruto to which the two obeyed. He contemplated the benefits and the risks, what he got was another chance at being hokage and a much higher rank than being a regular Jounin.
You should take it, said a voice deep inside Naruto, the Kyuubi itself, Kurama You will finally beat your dream.
"Yeah, you're probably right," said Naruto as he shunshin home, changing into his black and orange outfit before putting on a toad sage cloak of orange and black. He looked amazing, as he hadn't cut his hair and looked like a carbon copy of his father.
He shunshin back to his office and stepped out with his trademark smile.
"I'll take it," said Naruto, excitedly.
"But you'll need to have trained in the past few years," said Sakura matter-of-factly, to which Naruto gave her another smile as summoned the rasengan into his palm.
"Sakura, how are you a medical nin?" asked Naruto " Of course I never stopped training, I just got a job, you know something you'll never have."
"Naruto, please stop insulting Sakura," said Shikamaru "even if it is well deserved."
Sakura only stared mouth open at Shikamaru before getting angry and trying to punch Naruto only for him to catch easily and use it to throw her onto the ground.
Sasuke sighed. It seems that Naruto had gotten over his silly little crush on Sakura and had decided to get some self dignity.
Naruto gave him a grin and they began their long walk towards Konoha, a walk that was quite slow for the first few minutes as Naruto stopped and started to look at things around him.
He would easily get distracted so they had to keep him on track or else something terrible could happen like he could find a ramen stand and they would have to stop there.
People were dying and Naruto was acting like an overreacting five year old. This showed how lazy the professor could be when he wanted to be.
