Therapy with Hayner
Hayner & Olette
ONESHOT/Drabble

Hayner looked around the hangout before deciding it was a ghost town. Or spot. Whatever. The point was, it was deserted and he felt somewhat lonely. Pence was on vacation in a town nearby, visiting his relatives or something. Roxas was grounded and wasn't allowed to leave the house for a week. Hayner never noticed how big the Usual Spot was until it was just him standing in there.

But he did have Olette for an entire week. He didn't know how he should feel about that. He and Olette were on good terms but he knew in the back of his mind that if it were just them for seven days, the air around them would be… awkward. Olette mostly hung out with Pence since they've been friends since the 2nd grade and even Roxas, since Roxas was nice to everyone. Hayner himself preferred Roxas' company since they had more in common. Pence, too, sometimes, since they were both boys so there was a very rare chance that Hayner and Olette would have to hang out with each other alone.

Hayner got annoyed by his current predicament. It wasn't that he didn't want to hang out with Olette. It was just that… he didn't really want to hang out with her this week. Oh great, now he felt like a jerk. He began to think about his options. On the one hand this was the perfect time to get a new friendship started but on the other, he was no good with girls and their random emotions.

That's when it hit him! He would fake a fever! So he'd only have to spend time with Olette for a half a week. Hayner thinks he's a genius and begins to step out of the Usual Spot until he sees Olette walking towards him. Hayner notices she looks somewhat worried or depressed (he can't tell) and starts to feel even more like a jerk if he ditches her now.

"Hey Olette, what's up?"

She looks up at him only to look back down at the cobble street. "Um, nothing. Is Roxas here?"

The blonde shakes his head. "Nope."

She looks disappointed. "Ooh, well, I guess I'll just go back home. See ya Hayner", she says, turning back around.

Hayner's eye twitches. Say what? No one ditches Hayner! He walks towards her and grabs her wrist. "But I'm here", he reminds her.

Olette turns her head around and notices that Hayner's smiling at her. She bites her lower lip. "Hayner, can I tell you something?"

"Of course!" he beams. "We're friends right?"

So they both walk back into the Usual Spot and Olette begins to tell him about her troubles. She tells him that she believes her good friend Mary secretly hates her and all this other stuff that Hayner finds extremely trivial. But he listens anyway because he knows it's important to Olette and tries to offer her useful advice other than 'beat the snot out of Mary'.

By the end of the day Olette looks happy again and the two celebrate her worry free-ness with sea salt ice cream. Hayner begins to think that that was probably the longest they've ever talked to each other about anything and decides that maybe things between the brunette and himself aren't so awkward after all.

The sun finally sets and the two have to go home. Hayner bids his friend goodbye and Olette does the same.

She smiles kindly at him. "Thank you for hearing me out today, Hayner."

The blonde shrugs and says it's nothing before telling her he'll see her tomorrow. But inside he knows it's the start of a beautiful friendship.
