"8 Simple Rules: Finale"

"You know Ed, I'm not sure how that fish was that delicious." Cate told Ed Gibb as she finished the last bite of her Salmon.

"I told you this place has some sort of delicious 'wow' factor." He chuckled.

"I've never known a restaurant to serve such great food." She looked at the candle on the small round table. "And there's even candles!"

"Well, you wanted a romantic evening away from the kids."

"Yeah, but I still don't think I should've left C.J. alone and in charge."

"You did?" Ed laughed and controlled himself. "Well, he is a good teacher... there's not too much that could happen."

The Hennessy household was shaking off it's foundation with heavy rock metal that kept getting louder as the noise from the fifty or so teenagers increased. The house was in shambles as food went flying, beer cans were laying all over the place, and vases that were shattered. C.J. was in the middle of the enormous party trying to keep everything under control.

"Please! Somebody! Anybody?" C.J. yelled.

"Yeah, I suppose everything's under control." Cate replied to Ed's statement.

Ed gazed into Cate's eyes with a hot, fiery passion. He smiled slightly and began to speak. "You know Cate. It has been months since we've started dating, and your kids have grown accustomed to us being together, and no longer do I get asked questions on whether or not they can be excused from tardies. And we both love and care for each other, and... and... well..."

"Yes, Ed?" Cate asked in anticipation.

"Well. I just wanted to ask you something." Ed stopped.

"Ask me what?"

He gulped, and reached into his pant pocket without letting Cate see. "Will..." Ed saw the dessert cart pass by. "Wi...ould you like dessert?"

"Hmm, all right. I could make some room."

"That's wonderful." Ed flagged for the waiter and the two became silent. Ed stared down at the table while thinking.

After a moment of silence, Cate spoke up. "Ed?"

Ed glanced up. "Yes?"

"Were you going to ask me something other than 'would I like some carrot cake'? You seem like you have something on your mind. Is everything alright?"

"Well, actually... yes."

"Oh. Well... what is it?"

Ed took in a deep breath, pulled his hand out of his pocket with something he was grasping, knealt down on the floor next to Cate, and revealed the item in the palm of his hand.

"I know we are perfect together, and I really want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" Ed opened the box to reveal a beautifully perfect diamond ring.

Chills ran down Cate's spine as she sat there astonished at what Ed asked. She knew the time would come, but she didn't expect it this early on.

"Well... I don't know what to say. Ed, that is so..." She sat raptured by his question. And after a minute, she finally answered back, "Yes, Ed. I will marry you."
