"Far-Gone Away"
An experiment in storytelling, graced with a premise borrowed lightly from Kingdom Hearts, which is firmly © Square Enix and Disney. No offense is meant to either fine company and err...no lawsuit is asked of them, either.
Before we get started, I'd best explain the
BASIC IDEA:
This story doesn't concern Sora, Kairi, or Riku.
It doesn't concern Mickey, Donald, Goofy, or Pluto.
For that matter, you won't be seeing "Leon" or Cloud or Cid; heck, you might as well write the entire cast of the games and members of any conceivable Disney movie or Final Fantasy story off.
If any of the former statements turns you off of my work and you are, right at this very moment, drooling for some hot SoraxRiku action, look elsewhere (and fast). This obviously wasn't written for you.
Instead, what I propose in beginning this work is my entirely original cast eventually filling familiar roles (Princess of Heart, Warrior of the Keyblade, etc.) as their world is torn apart and they are thrown into entirely new situations. (I guess that kinda counts as a spoiler...oops. Warning: bad things will happen.)
What I hope to encourage here is a self-contained little universe between KH writers, where eventually characters from my story can skip into the world (and creative hands) of another author, and vice versa, forming a gigantic pulsating web that will someday grow and devour the Internet! I mean, uh. Do...well.
If you're having trouble comprehending the wacky nonsense above, picture it this way; a popular television show eventually forms a spin-off/sister series. Characters travel freely in and out of both, and events in one are referenced to in the other-- but the wacky misadventures of either show stay entirely under the control of their respective creative teams. Eh? EH? That's what I want to see happen! (But knowing fate and the internet, it probably won't.)
The craziest part of my idea is that you (THE READER) are actively encouraged to provide new worlds from your own works and see how I handle them with my little inventions stumbling about inside!
(and hopefully, in retrospect, this won't all look like a cheap, pretentious gimmick.)
Anyway, every story starts somewhere, and this one might as well pick a spot.
On to the 'fic!
