A "Random Final Fantasy 7 Yaoi Pairing Generator" crackfic. Rude x Cloud.

Reunion

Cloud locked the door behind him. If Reno had attacked him, Rude wasn't far behind, and he didn't want them to be interrupted.

Sure enough, a door across the room swung open and Rude stepped out, adjusting his gloves. Cloud took him in, admiring the new earring and tailored fit of Rude's suit. The Turk paused in front of Cloud, inscrutable behind his shades.

"Yeah, Rude, looking sharp!" Reno called from outside.

Noting the slight upward twitch of Rude's mouth, Cloud smiled.

"I'd have to agree. I didn't expect you to be wearing that suit any more but it looks good on you," Cloud said, curious but keeping his guard up.

Rude grunted. He stepped closed, boots tapping softly on the wood floor.

"I–" Rude broke off, looking sharply toward the door he had come from.

Cloud heard a faint whirring noise, but didn't have time to identify it as Rude pulled out a nightstick. Instinctively, Cloud brought his sword up to Rude's throat. Rude made a soft noise, and nodded slightly before stepping back.

"Good, you fight like the Soldier you once claimed to be," a cultured voice said, as the whirring grew louder. "You haven't rusted a bit."

"Rufus Shinra?" Cloud stared at the man in front of him, disbelieving. And why did that voice always give him the goddamn chills?

"Do I feel bad for you," he said to Rude, masking his sincerity with a sarcastic tone.

Rude shifted uncomfortably as Rufus turned to him, once again grateful for the protection of his shades. Cloud Strife didn't seem like the possessive type, but Rufus was, and his jealous rages tended to result in expensive dry-cleaning bills. Rude didn't relish the idea of having to rough Cloud up, especially knowing that he'd end up a lot worse off. And if the company needed Cloud, he didn't want to give the ex-Soldier any more reasons to hold a grudge against Rufus.

Cloud, meanwhile, was imagining what Rufus would have to say if he knew what his Turks got up to in Wutai while they were supposed to be on duty.

And Rufus was grateful that Cloud didn't seem to remember him in any other capacity than as a political and ideological foe.
