Chapter 9
Jaden vs Chazz
The next morning.
As Jaden got ready for the day, he realised that today was the day of the promotion exams. He did spend the night adding some of the new cards he got. As he got his last card in his deck, he heard a knock at his dorm's door.
"Come in" said Jaden. The door opened to reveal another Demi-Human. This one looked about the same age as him, had dark-brown skin, black eyes with yellow pupils and long, flowing grey hair that moved on it's own and covered her body.
"Oh, Doppel", said Jaden. "Didn't expect to see you here. In fact, where were you yesterday?".
"Messing around with some of the students", answered Doppel. "You should've seen some of the faces of the students when I turned into Dark Magician Girl. Haha".
"You know you could get in trouble for that, right?" Asked Jaden.
"Yeah, well, they'll have to catch me first", said Doppel. "Anyways, the others and I thought it would be nice to watch you duel. After all, you made everything at the office seem fun. So, we're returning the favour".
"So, all of you are here?" Asked Jaden.
"Yep", answered Doppel. "Me, Tio, Zombina and Manako are all gonna watch you".
"Manako's here too?" Asked Jaden.
"Ahuh", answered Doppel. "In fact, you may wanna look behind ya". Jaden raised an eyebrow and turned around to see to see a young woman dressed in MON armour. She had purple hair cut short and had a large blue eye.
"Oh, Manako", said Jaden. "Nice to see you again".
"Oh, um, h-h-hi J-J-Jaden" said Manako with a stutter.
"Well, now that out the way", said Doppel. "I think it's best we head to the arena".

Later.
They were walking through the halls of Duel academy. Everyone couldn't help but stare at Doppel due to the fact that she was naked.
"You know, you all can just look at things like this on the internet, right?" Doppel asked everyone watching her.
They then walked into the arena where everyone was watching them.
"Ha, man talk about packed" said Doppel. They all looked to the other end of the field to see a VERY familiar face.
"Oh, hey Chazz" said Jaden.
"It's about time you got here", Chazz said. "I was getting board".
"Wait", said Jaden. "YOU'RE my opponent?".
"I thought you could only duel those in your dorm?" Asked Doppel.
"Crowler made special arrangements for me to duel you", said Chazz. "So, get ready to feel the wrath of The Chazz".
"Gee, ego much?", Doppel asked herself. "Over compensating for something small, are we?". Chazz blushed at this.
"LET'S JUST GET THIS STARTED!" Shouted Chazz.
Doppel and Manako then headed up to the stands and sat with Jaden's friends.
"GAME ON!"

"You think Jaden's got this down?" Asked ShiiShii.
"Eh, totally", answered Doppel. "Old Charles McCompensation's got nothing on Jaden".
"I'll start things off", said Jaden drawing the top card of his deck. "I summon Elemental Hero Solid Soldier, in attack mode". Jaden's new monster was a warrior decked out in a burgundy jumpsuit that was covered in a silver-teal armour with green highlights and there were blades on his arms.

"Now for Solid's solid effect", said Jaden. "When he's normal summoned, I can special summon one 'Hero' monster from my hand. So, say hello to Elemental Hero Clayman, in defence mode!". His new moster was a man made entirely out of brown and beige clay with a red head.

"I'll place this facedown and end my turn" said Jaden.
"Where'd he get the new monster?" Asked Bastion.
"It was in the case we gave him" said Zombina.
"You gave him a case?" Asked Bastion.
"Yep", answered Zombina. "Chocked full of the best hero cards you can get".
"Did you say 'the best'?" Asked Alexis.
"Totally" answered Doppel.
"Well, it's about time, my turn", said Chazz drawing the top card of his deck. "And I couldn't have asked for a better draw, meet Magical Mallet".
"And, that does what?" Asked Jaden.
"First, I pick all the cards I don't want in my hand", said Chazz. "Then, I shuffle them into my and draw the same number".
"All that from one spell card?" Asked Moskii.
"And a dangerous one at that", answered Bastion. "Now, Chazz can pick exactly what cards he wants and which ones he doesn't".
"And I got another Magical Mallet", said Chazz. "Now I can use it's effect again and again. And that comes in handy, when you're looking for this. V-Tiger Jet, sharpen your claws for attack mode". His new monster was a yellow and green mechanical tiger with jet parts.

"And there's a lot more where that came from", said Chazz. "Check out Frontline base. Now, once per turn, I can summon a level 4 or below union monster from my hand. And I got just the one, say hello to W-Wing Catapult". His new monster was blue, 'H' shaped jet.

"Alright boys, start your engines", said Chazz. "And merge to form VW-Tiger Catapult". His new monster was V-Tiger Jet laying on top of W-Wing Carapult.

"How Chazz get that?" Asked Chumley.
"Something's off here", said Zombina. "And it's not me".
"What are you talking about?" Asked Moskii.
"Don't you think it's odd that Chazz just so happens to have FIVE rare cards that we haven't seen him use before, RIGHT after all the rare cards were bought?" Asked Zombina.
"Yeah, it smells fishy alright" added ShiiShii.
"I now activate my monster's ability", said Chazz. "I discard a card, to switch your Clayman from Defence to Attack mode. Now, there's about to be one less monster on your field. ATTACK!". Tiger Catapult the fired missiles at Clayman.
"Not so fast Chazz", said Jaden. "I play my trap, A Hero Emerges".
"What?!" Shouted Chazz.
"Emerges", answered Jaden. "Meaning, onto the field. You pick a card in my hand, if it's a monster, then I can summon it".
"Come on, Jaden" cheered Tio.
"The second card from the left" said Chazz.
"Nice choice, well, for me anyway", said Jaden. "Come on out, Elemental Hero Stratos". His new monster was a man in light-blue spandex underneath blue and white armour and had a visor covering his face. On his back was a pair of wings with turbines in the middle.

"And now for his effect", said Jaden. "Well, one of them at least. I can now add one 'Hero' monster from my deck to my hand". A card then popped out of his deck and he added it to his hand.
"You monster is still getting destroyed" said Chazz. The missiles then destroyed Clayman.
Jaden: 4000 - 1200 = 2800
"I'll place this facedown and end my turn" said Chazz.
"Then it's my move", said Jaden as he drew the top card of his deck. "I play Graceful Charity. Now, I get to draw three cards, but then discard two". He then drew three cards and discarded two.
"Now, I think it's time I got some help from beyond the grave" said Jaden.
"Beyond the grave?" Asked Chazz.
"What does he mean by that?" Asked Manako.
"You'll see" said Zombina with a smirk.
"I activate the effect of Evil Hero Sinister Necrom from my graveyard", said Jaden. "I can remove him from play to special summon an 'Evil Hero' from my hand or deck". This caused the audience to gasp.
"Did he just say EVIL Hero?" Asked Syrus.
"I think he did?" Asked ShiiShii.
"But I thought he used Elemental Heroes?" Asked Chumley.
"It was in the case we gave him" said Zombina.
"Now, say hello to Evil Hero Malicious Edge!" Shouted Jaden. His new monster was a man with deep purple skin decked out in spiked bands, two large blade wings on his back and three claws grew from his knuckles.

"Next, I play the spell, Upstart Goblin", said Jaden. "Now, here's the thing, while I get to draw a card from my deck. You get an extra 1000 life points".
"You know you're supposed to make my life points hit 0, right you Slifer Slacker?" Asked Chazz. Jaden drew the top card of his deck.
"Yeah, but it comes in handy when you want THIS!", shouted Jaden. "Polymerisation! Now, I fuse Solid with Stratos! Now, give a warm welcome to, Elemental Hero Sunriser!". His new monster decked out in red and gold armour with spiked blades on his forearms, spikes on his shoulders and head and a flowing blue cape.

Everyone gasped at the new monster that appeared on Jaden's field.
'What the hell's going on?', Chazz asked himself in his head. 'Where is this Slacker getting all his new cards from? Crowler gave me all those new cards, so why does it feel like I'm losing?'.
"I activate Sunriser's first two effects", said Jaden. "First, for every different attribute on my field, all monsters I control gain 200 attack points".

ATK: 2600 + 400 = 3000
"And next, I can add one fusion spell from my deck to my hand", said Jaden. "And I choose Miracle Fusion". A card popped out of his deck and added it to his hand.
"Now comes Solid Soldier's effect", said Jaden. "When he's sent from the field to the grave by the effect of a spell, I can special summon a 'Hero' monster from my graveyard in defence mode. So, come on back, Elemental Hero Clayman". His monster then appeared on the field.

"I'll end my turn now" said Jaden. This confused everyone.
"Why didn't he attack?" Asked Manako.
"Yeah", agreed Syrus. "Either of his monsters could've destroyed Tiger Catapult".
"This is Jaden we're talking about", said Doppel. "There could be dozens of plans going through his head. Or he's just relying on could old fashioned Main Character powers".
"What powers?" Asked Syrus.
"Uh, never mind" said Doppel.
"It's my move", said Chazz. "And I summon X-Head Cannon". His new monster was legless robot coloured blue and yellow and had cannons on his shoulders.
X-Head Cannon

"And thanks to Frontline Base", said Chazz. "I can special summon Z-Metal Tank". His new monster was a yellow tank with a single eye.

"Okay, so, V W X Z", said Doppel. "There's a letter missing here, but I can't put my finger on it".
"Yeah, Y" added Syrus.
"Why?", asked Doppel. "Because I couldn't think of anything, that's why". Syrus sighed at this poor joke.
"And that's not all Slifer Slime", said Chazz. "I play call of the haunted. This allows me to bring a monster back from my graveyard. And I choose the card I discarded to activate Tiger Catapult's effect. Y-Dragon Head". His new monster was a red robotic dragon.

"Well shit" sighed Zombina.
"He does have it" said Bastion in astonishment.
"Now, it's time to school you", said Chazz. "I fuse X, Y and Z to form, XYZ-Dragon Cannon".
His new monster was basically the three of them stacked on top of one another.

The stadium gasped at this.
"Two monsters with over 2000 attack points" Syrus said.
"You seem to forget that Jaden's monsters still out power his" added Bastion.
"You know, Chazz", said Jaden. "As impressive as your monsters are, they are still nowhere near enough to beat my heroes".
"There's more where this came from", said Chazz. "Well, less actually. I combine VW-Tiger Catapult with XYZ Dragon Cannon! Now, bask in the awe of, VWXYZ-DRAGON CATAPULT CANNON!". Both monsters disassembled and merged into a large robot.
VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon

"Oh no" said Tio.
"Okay, now he's definitely over compensating for something" said Doppel.
"I activate my one Catapult Cannon's special abilities", said Chazz. "Now, I can target one monster and remove it from play. So, say buh-bye to Sunriser!". Catapult Cannon then fired lasers from his cannons and Sunriser vanished.
"Oh fuck", said Zombina. "Without Sunriser, his monster won't get the power boost".
Elemental Hero Clayman
ATK: 1400 - 600 = 800

ATK: 3200 - 600 = 2600
"Now, attack Clayman!" Shouted Chazz. Catapult Cannon then fired lasers from it's cannons.
"Bring it on", said Jaden. "Clayman's in defence mode, so I won't take any damage".
"Actually", said Chazz. "My Catapult Cannon has another effect. When he attacks, I get to choose your monster's mode. And I choose attack mode. So, not only will he be zapped". Clayman was then destroyed.
"But your life points will be as well".
Jaden: 2800 - 2200 = 600
"He's only got 600 life points left" Manako said in a panic.
"And if Chazz attacks again", said Syrus. "Jaden's done for".
"I'll end my turn for now you Slifer Slime", said Chazz. "On my next turn, I'll blast you with my Catapult Cannon and win".
"You know people always lose when they say that, right?" Asked Doppel.
"This is it", said Zombina. "One draw, one card. And if it's nothing good, Jaden loses".
"Here goes, I draw", said Jaden drawing the top card of his deck. "I play the spell, Foolish Burial. Now, I get to send one monster from my Deck to the grave. And I choose Elemental Hero Liquid Soldier. Now, I play Fusion Recovery to add a Stratos and Polymerisation to my hand. Next, I activate the spell, Miracle Fusion. Now, I can remove monsters from my graveyard from play to fusion summon one 'Elemental Hero' fusion monster".
"Wait, what?!", shouted Chazz. "Fusing from the grave!".
"That's right", said Jaden. "So I remove Solid and Liquid from play, to fusion summon, Elemental Hero Absolute Zero!". Ice grew on the field and then the ice cracked and exploded. In place of the ice was a man wearing Snow White armour with piercing blue eyes and a flowing white cape.

DEF: 2000
"Next, I summon Elemental Hero Stratos", said Jaden. "Now, I can add one 'Hero' monster from my deck to my hand. Now, Absolute Zero, attack VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon!". Everyone was shocked by this.
"Why is Jaden attacking with a monster weaker than it's target?" Asked Chumley.
"Watch" said Zombina. Catapult Cannon then destroyed Absolute Zero.
"Wow, you must REALLY want to lose if you attacked me with a monster weaker than mine" mocked Chazz. Jaden only smirked.
"And you need to learn not to underestimate your opponents", said Jaden. "Because your monster doesn't look so good". Chazz cocked an eyebrow at this. He then looked at Catapult Cannon and saw that ice was starting to encase it.
"Hey Charles!", shouted Doppel. "Looks like your Cannon's got a little frostbite, HAHAAAAAAAAA!". The ice cracked before the monster crumbled away.
"What happened to my Catapult Cannon?!" Shouted Chazz.
"It's because of Absolute Zero's effect", said Jaden. "When he leaves the field, he takes all my opponent's monsters with him. Next, I play Monster Reborn, so, welcome Absolute Zero". His monster then returned".
"Finish him off, J!" Shouted Syrus.
"Go get 'em, Jadie!" Cheered Tio.
"You heard them guys", said Jaden. "Attack Chazz directly! Subzero Shower!". Absolute Zero fired a freeze ray from his hands.
"Turbine Tempest!". Twin tempests then came from the turbines on Stratos' wings.
"Needle Burst!". Malicious Edge then fired needles from his knuckles.
All of the attacks then struck Chazz, reducing his life points to zero and dropping to his knees. Everyone in the stadium cheered for Jaden. Moskii an ShiiShii then tackled him and he was now in a hug between them.
"That was an extremely well played duel, Jaden", said Chancellor Shepard. "And, as a reward, you are promoted. Though it won't be to the next form, I'm proud to announce that you are now Duel Academy's Extra-Species ambassador".
"You here that guys, hahahaaa!", laughed Jaden. "Wait, what does that mean?".
"It means you'll be in charge of Duel Academy's relationship with demi-humans" answered Bastion.
"Really?", asked Jaden. "Awesome". Chancellor Shepard was watching this and smiled.
'You might not be the best student in terms of grades', Chancellor Shepard said in his head. 'But I do believe that you can help Demi-Humans and humans get along. This year will be interesting to say the least'. Chazz just walked through the halls after sneaking away.
'You won't get away with this', Chazz said in his head. 'I'll make sure of it'.
