Here's chapter three. This chapter picks up where chapter left off.
Chapter Three:
"So let me get this straight. Not only are you from another timeline, but another dimension as well?" Zatanna asked as Phantom Girl told everyone the story of how she and Conner wound up trapped in the Phantom Zone.
" Yes. In my time, I am part of a team called the Legion of Super-Heroes. My two teammates, Saturn Girl, Chameleon Boy, and I came back to this timeline to prevent the death of Superboy.
When the bomb was about to go off on Mars, I tried to save Superboy by using my ability to phase, to make us both intangible.
But between the pain of my injury and his body's high density, I wound up transporting us to the Phantom Zone, instead of my home dimension of Bgtzl. The journey left me unconscious. And it wasn't until after we left the Phantom Zone that I managed to regain consciousness." Phantom Girl said as she finished telling her story.
" Well, we are grateful to you for saving Conner when you did. After all, we thought he was dead when we learned of what happened on Mars." Zatanna said.
Meanwhile...
As Baby descended into Earth's atmosphere, J'onn J'onzz aka Martian Manhunter noticed that they were not flying towards Happy Harbor, but Salem instead.
He turned to look at his niece M'gann, who was currently sitting in the pilots seat.
" M'gann, is there any reason why we are off course?" J'onn asked curiously.
M'gann didn't answer him. Instead, she just continued to fly them towards Salem.
" Yoohoo, Earth to M'gann. Anybody home in there?" her sister, Em'ree J'onzz said in an annoyed tone as she snapped her fingers, which brought M'gann out her hypnotic like state.
" I'm sorry, were you guys saying something to me?" M'gann asked, confused.
" Yes, we were wondering why you are bringing us to Salem instead of Happy Harbor. " J'onn said in a concerned tone.
" I don't know, something about this place is compelling me to bring us here." M'gann said as she landed Baby a few feet from the Old Salem Animal Shelter.
" Well, we might as well investigate while we are here." J'onn said as they walked down the landing ramp. Only to be greeted by both Zatanna and Zatarra.
" Giovanni? I see Nabu has freed you from his helmet." J'onn said to the elder magician.
" It is good to see you as well J'onn. But what brings you all the way here to Salem?" Zatarra asked curiously.
" I did not bring us here. M'gann was the one who brought us here. She said something about this place compelled her to bring us here." J'onn said.
Zatanna spotted M'gann and went over to greet her old friend.
Hey M'gann, welcome back to Earth. " Zatanna said cheerfully.
M'gann looked up at Zatanna and smiled upon seeing one of her closest friends.
As she walked up to Zatanna, M'gann almost fell to the ground as she felt a familiar presence enter her mind again.
" M'gann, are you alright?! " Em'ree cried as she ran to her sister's side.
" It's Conner. I..I can feel his mind-touch again!" M'gann said as she looked up and gasped.
Conner stood there before her. He had a gentle, loving expression on his face as he held his arms out to her.
" Conner...Conner!" M'gann cried happily as she ran to her fiancé and nearly tackled him to the ground in a hug.
Conner chuckled as he wrapped his arms around M'gann, holding her in a tight embrace.
" You're alive! Y..You came back!" M'gann cried as tears of joy flowed down her cheeks.
Conner smiled softly as he gently caressed her cheek, brushing away her tears with his thumb.
" I never left you M'gann. Nor will I ever leave you." He said as he gently kissed her on the lips.
M'gann was surprised by his actions but kissed him back with twice as much love. She wrapped her arms around his neck. Conner did the same by wrapping his arms around her waist and pulled her close to deepen their kiss.
After breaking apart for air, M'gann smiled softly as she looked up at Conner and gazed into his bright blue eyes.
" I love you Conner." She said as she rested her forehead against his.
" I love you too M'gann. I always have and I always will." He said as he leaned in to kiss her again, only to be interrupted by a certain martian walking up to them.
" I hate to interrupt you two lovebirds, but Uncle J'onn says we're ready to leave. So let's get going, okay." Em'ree said to the two lovers.
" We get it, Em'ree. We're coming. " M'gann said in an annoyed tone as she followed her sister back to Baby.
Conner sighed as he followed them. He had a feeling it was gonna be a long flight home.
