Author's Note: I just wrote this up quite quickly. It's not very good, but for some reason, I really like it. shrugs It just seemed like something that would actually happen. You'll never see me writing an actual OroKabu fic, just because I don't write slash. And, even if I did, I don't see them as a likely couple. If anyone ever wants my reasons, let me know and I'll be happy to divulge.
Title: Good Morning
Summary: One more night, just like a thousand others.

He woke to the feeling of being observed.
" Orochimaru-sama?"
Not surprisingly, his guess was correct; the sannin was bent down next to the mattress, watching placidly. Kabuto sat up and brushed his loose hair from his face with one hand, reaching for his glasses with the other. Shakily, he pushed the wire frames behind his ears, fingers trembling slightly with sleep. It was still cold and blue–nighttime.
" Kabuto-san...good evening." Orochimaru murmured.
Kabuto sniffed. " Is something wrong?"
" No."
" Do you need anything?"
" No."
"...oh." He watched the crouching immortal quietly, waiting for an explanation of this unwonted bout of insomnia. Orochimaru was equally speechless, staring vacantly at his eyes as if to make conversation.
The pair sat like this for several minutes. Kabuto was perfectly still. His mind wandered, trying to recall the dream he had been having before he woke, thinking ahead to what needed to be done after the sun rose. At this hour, his thoughts were still quite discordant, so all this thinking did no real good. He remained locked in silence with Orochimaru.
The older man blinked finally and delicately wiped his eye with his middle finger, looking away. " Go back to sleep, Kabuto-san." He rose to full height and slowly paced off.
Left alone, Kabuto frowned, sighed, and laid down again, pulling his blanket up to his ears.

Nix: That's all. Nothing really important. Just a drabble, really. oO Review?
