September 8th, 213 A.D. mining log

The mining has been going splendidly. The riches are pouring from the walls right into the miner's hands! I did not realize that Mt. Dekumore was full of gems.

The mine is like a large spiral, filled with machinery and guardians to help protect us. We think we hit a vein.

There have been more reports of vermin appearing in the caves. Some kind of spider. The miners are growing restless, but I pay them no heed. Many more veins of gems have been found, and we even found an ancient cave system at the bottom of the spiral. I will be rich!

October 13th, 214 A.D. mining log

The legend of a giant spider with one giant eye has been spreading through the miners. According to them, a miner had ventured into the depths of a cave system and never came back. I find that unreasonable, because you were not allowed to go down there by yourself.

Also, the vermin have grown. A couple Guardians have malfunction and caused harm to the miners, but I have replaced those Guardians. Everything is good.

December 21st, 214 A.D. mining log

I'm starting to fear this giant spider. The vermin have come so close that I've seen them myself! According to my assistants, those large spiders are called Skulltula, and they are the spawn of a gigantic spider named Gohma. Also, more and more Guardians are malfunctioning, and I am thinking about removing them from the business entirely.

There have been more disappearances. I have a feeling that a Gohma resides in my mines. But the mining must go on.

January 7th, 215 A.D. mining log

It's a catastrophe. The door closed, locking us in forever. We cannot go out. We are stuck in a mine with a whole lot of vermin and Guardians. Most of the Guardians have gone haywire, and the miners are making safe camps in many different places. The food seems to restore itself, though. Good for us Hylians who are working on the job. We have closed off the entrance to the spiral, and set our strongest and only not corrupt Guardian to guard the switch. I hope the Gorons find a way out… the wall seems to go on and on and on…

January 10th, 215 A.D. mining log

It happened. They are closing in. We cannot get to a different safe spot. The Gohma has come out of its lair. Our safe spot is under constant siege, and us Hylians are running out of food. The Gorons are fighting the rogue Guardians and the Skultula while the Hylians take on bigger prey. Many miners have been lost already.

The Gohma has wasted our forces. The tunnel leading out goes for many miles until it reaches the surface. I've decided to leave now. Goodbye, miners.

The exit is a sheer drop. There is no escaping for a Hylian like me without a paraglider. Well, guess this is the end.

They have broken through the defenses. All of us who remain will die. Someone help! The lasers are everywhere! He

Ember, Link, Kestu, and Drake faced off against the giant spider.

"A Gohma!" Yelled Drake.

"A Gohma!" Yelled Link.

"Drake just said that." Kestu told Link.

"No time for this! Run!" Link yelled over everyone.

They turned around and started running down the caves that rested at the bottom of the floor.

They heard the Gohma click its teeth and heard its legs clacking across the wall as it skittered towards them.

"Ember! Fire! Quick!" Shrieked Link as he pulled out his torch.

Ember obeyed and quickly lit the stick that Link was holding up.

A split in the road was suddenly lit up by Ember fire. They turned left and ran through the corridor, and then they encountered another fork. They turned right and encountered another fork.

"It's a maze." Kestu informed them.

Ember was growing tired of all the running. The Gohma was going to catch up to her first.

"Kestu! I need to be bottled!" Ember yelled.

Kestu nodded and repeated it to Link.

Link pulled out her bottle and the relaxing gel swarmed around Ember as she was placed inside.

Link put her back on her belt so she could be in view of the Gohma.

"Hey." Drake panted. "That Gohma is too high leveled up to beat. I think we have to beat the maze to get out of this dungeon. That I believe is what happened last time."

Kestu repeated that to Link.

"Alright! Look out for an exit, everyone!" Link yelled.

Ember knew she could help by looking for exits herself, so she did just that. She felt Link turn to the left, then to the right, and then to the left again. They went on for miles and miles, somehow enduring and still outrunning the giant spider.

Ember suddenly caught sight of a flame floating in the air behind Link.

She pulled and pushed and tried to communicate with Link, but Link was so intent on searching, he did not notice Ember. Will they be wandering this maze forever?

"Link!" She heard Kestu hollar. "Turn back! I saw a flame!"

Ember was suddenly grateful to Kestu for noticing it.

Link turned around and ran right underneath the Gohmas legs, approaching the flame as quickly as possible.

"Good job, Kestu!" Link congratulated Kestu.

They ran right up to the flame. Link paused to catch his breath. And then suddenly a Goron appeared. Another Goron and a Hylain appeared. Plenty more Gorons and Hylians appeared. They had wandered into a shelter.

"What in the name of Hylia?" Asked Link.

"Welcome, adventurer." One of the Gorons greeted them. "We will help you escape."

The Goron grabbed Link and pulled him towards a well that looked like people cleaned it every hour. Link quickly bottled up Drake and Kestu before engaging in any conversation.

"So… what is this place?" Link asked.

"This is the Deep Maze Sanctuary." One of the Gorons answered. "All of us had mined in this mine until the Gohma appeared and ruined our operation. We had dug into a different place filled with magic that caused it to become a dungeon. This maze and our mine became one dungeon together, and we were stuck down here in this sanctuary. Whoever created the magic of this dungeon made it so that we became part of the dungeon, thus making it sure that we are unable to leave by this path. I believe there are other sanctuaries in this dungeon, but we do not send anyone out because of the threat of monsters."

"Ok… But how does the Gohma not find you and eat you here?" Link asked another question.

"This is a part of the dungeon where the ancient evil cannot go. We are stuck here with an infinite food and drink supply. We gain more materials that are essential for our survival, and also enough that we can use it to thrive. Do not attempt to stay and live with us. There will not be any supplies for you. We wish you a happy life and hope that you never appear here again."

Link chuckled and leaped in the well, falling and falling until he softly landed in front of the dungeon entrance again… but there was no door. And no time seemed to have passed since going into the dungeon. The battle looked the same as it did when they went into the dungeons, for what seemed like hours ago.
