"Well I suppose I should make haste with my little recap here shouldn't I?" Edwards scratched his chin as he stayed outside the prison, "Well, last time we had our contestants escape little executions that I had specifically made for them, George ended up as the only prisoner unable to escape his room, and only ended up breaking his shoulder as a result. As for the others, Rival, Jade, and Deena couldn't even make it out of the prison in time, which left only Clover, Davy, and Jacque in a race to beat the challenge first, Davy tripped up Jacque and tried to overcome Clover in the race, but the girl ended up speeding past him and won the challenge and choice of elimination... not that it mattered as Rival was stabbed by one of his fellow prisoners, huh, how unfortunate for him..." Edwards stayed silent for a moment, "Well, it's time to find out which Prisoner was responsible for Rival's assault, let's go find out, shall we?
Intro Start
The intro started off with a shot of the prison, but instead of cameras popping out, the shot just went to static and cut over to the prison library.
"..." Inside the prison library, Aztaroth was reading a book but was interrupted when a loud crash came from behind him.
"..." The crash was revealed to have come from Romeo, who accidentally knocked over a bookshelf with his strength.
"..." After another static cut, Jade was seen picking up bits of litter in the courtyard, with a guard threatening to hit her if she didn't.
"..." Off in the distance, Picollo was washing off his makeup, suggesting that he didn't wanna wear it here.
"..." With the screen again turning to static, the shot was now of inside the cafeteria where Deena was eating breakfast for the day.
"..." Also in the cafeteria was Edna, who was eating god knows what.
"..." The shot stayed on Deena and Edna for a bit, before suddenly jumping to George who was looking outside from an old watchtower.
"..." George turned around, to see that a grinning Clover was behind him, causing the athlete to jump in surprise.
"..." With yet another static cut, we now got a shot of Relinda desperately trying to call someone on the prison phone, to no avail.
"..." Also in the phone room was Quinn, who had a chart of all the other contestants in her hand.
"..." Suddenly, the screen changed over to Davy and Rival, who were trying to avoid Edwards in the main cell block.
"..." Off to the left side of the cellblock, Jacque and Monica were trying to talk, but for some reason couldn't remember their conversation.
"..." Finally, on the right side of the cellblock was Salem, with the demon's eyes glowing with evil as he tapped his fingers together.
"...There is no escapeā¦" Instead of the final shot of the intro being of the campers around some sort of campfire, it was of Abigor grinning manically, while holding the same blade he used to end Chris.
"...Indeed..." The camera zoomed in and pulled back to reveal Truthteller and Lyre, with the latter putting his hands in his face while the former was going over the plan to bomb the prison.
Intro End
The three angels somberly sat at the top of Hope's Lament the day after Rival was stabbed. "I knew Rival was supposed to do this, but I still feel that it's my fault." Simeon sighed, "I egged him on so much yesterday, I wish I could've intervened to save him."
"We can't worry about him now, unfortunately," Silas replied softly, "But Rival will forever be a hero for what he did to further our plans, may he be blessed for the rest of his life... but, our plan still works right? Rival did his part?"
"Yes." Bernadette chimed in, "Thanks to him... Abigor and Salem's downfall can be guaranteed... but we need to involve one more person..."
Lyre waited anxiously in an interrogation room for Hawkeye to be brought in, he had no trust in the soldier after what happened at the prison not too long ago, but he was at least glad that he had some connection to the guy, though Lyre thought it was strange that Hawkeye had someone else call the prison to tell him where he was rather than calling himself. The detective looked at his watch in anticipation as Hawkeye was brought into the room by multiple armed guards, with all of them pointing their weapons at the man.
Hawkeye looked around at all the guards, wondering why they didn't trust him, they had yet to tell him what they saw him do.
Lyre sighed as he leaned forward and looked at Hawkeye, immediately noticing Hawkeye's now-bandaged neck, "Can someone get a whiteboard in here? I wanna see what exactly he has to say." Lyre ordered as a guard left the room to ask a detective to fetch the materials. Lyre continued to give a dead stare to Hawkeye, he had so many questions he wanted to ask the soldier, but he first wanted to get the information of Hope's Lament out of the solider.
The guard returned to the room and handed a marker and whiteboard to Hawkeye, which caused Lyre to start his investigation, "Alright let's get this out of the way already, just tell me why you killed everyone else in that squad."
Hawkeye moved back in his seat as his eyes widened, what were they talking about? He knew he didn't kill anyone, all he remembers is climbing the walls and then everything going black, "(What are you referring to? Edwards was the one working against the squad, if anyone killed them, he did.)" Hawkeye wrote down, only for Lyre to roll his eyes.
"Play the camera footage," Hawkeye instructed, which led to a projector screen being turned on the room, the video being played was the body cam footage of Hawkeye shooting the rest of his squad with his rifle, causing the rest of the guards to look away for a moment in disgust at Hawkeye.
Hawkeye just stared at the footage for what felt like hours as it kept looping in on itself, he still believed in his innocence, but how was he supposed to prove it now? "(No, that can't be me, I have absolutely no memory of ever doing that, I don't know why my body cam footage shows that but that isn't what happened. What really happened was I blacked out after making it to the prison and then woke up on a pile of corpses inside the prison, and I heard the sounds of Edwards talking with someone else, hell they even tried to kill me! I woke up with my own throat slit, how do you explain that detective?)" Hawkeye calmed down as he continued writing, "(Maybe Edwards is dead and I just heard someone else in that room, but I didn't see his body in the pile, all I saw was my squad and a few people I didn't recognize except for that one reality T.V. show host Christ McLean.)"
Lyre leaned forward as his eyes widened in shock of the statement, "What?" Lyre shook his head and wrote down what Hawkeye claimed, "So you claim that you blacked out and Chris McLean was murdered, is that right? I believe the Chris part, we'd already determined that there was a reality show that was supposed to take place on that island, but there's no way that footage was faked, it was live footage from your bodycam. Yes, theoretically one could mess with the cameras so it switches to edited footage of you killing the others, but Occam's Razor is in full play here Hawkeye, that seems less believable than you murdering them."
Hawkeye rubbed his head as he erased his bored and wrote something new, "(Well I don't know what to you Lyre, I didn't kill anyone and I sure as hell am not working with the enemy. I have two kids and a wife, why would I do something so horrible to make them hate me? You clearly aren't gonna listen to anything I say, so just take me to a cell already and find someone new to interview, this is over.)" Hawkeye dropped the board and held his arms up so he could be handcuffed.
Lyre sighed in annoyance at Hawkeye, believing him to still be lying, only for an idea to pop into his head, "That's a good idea Hawkeye." Lyre told Hawkeye, causing the soldier to raise an eyebrow at him, Lyre got up and left the room to meet up with Truthteller, though not before telling the guards to take Hawkeye back to their holding cells, "I think we should try prying some information out of the prisoners that returned to their cells. Well, whatever we can get out of them, there's a pretty good chance they'll have some blackmail against them to stay silent." Lyre told Truthteller, who grinned in response.
"That's not gonna stop the bombing plan Lyre, whatever this agency is up against is too much to just arrest, they're gonna have to be eradicated entirely." Truthteller replied, pushing off Lyre's suggestion.
Lyre stopped in place and sighed, "Fine, I can do it myself." Lyre mumbled as he hatched a plan in his mind...
Jade walked into the cafeteria with eyes as black as shadows as she sat down in her seat, all of the other prisoners there were eying each other with suspicious gazes, well, more like everyone was looking at Clover, and Clover was looking at the despair-filled Jade.
"Can we just get this crazy chick out of here already?" Davy crossed his arms, "She obviously stabbed Rival, like, Davy mean who else could've done it?"
"Agreed." Deena nodded, "I don't know why Edwards hasn't gotten rid of her yet."
"Why would I do that when I could have you guys figure out who did it yourselves?" Edwards' voice echoed out as he coughed into a handkerchief, the effects of Abigor's ability already beginning to affect him, "I'll be very, very, very simplistic with how I put today's challenge." Edwards put the handkerchief in his pocket, "You will all have one hour to do your own little investigation on Rival's stabbing and after that you will put on a little trial for each prisoner who's still here. We will start with Clover and end it with Jade, after that, you will vote for who you believe attacked Rival, and they will be eliminated."
"What if we vote out the wrong person?" Deena asked.
Edwards let out a small chuckle, "Well, I guess you sent an innocent person to jail for nothing, well, I should correct myself, none of you here are exactly 'innocent'. Anyways, before I send you all off on your little quest to figure this out I suppose I'll give you some vital information by saying the time of the stabbing. The stabbing itself happened exactly at twelve thirty-seven PM, approximately seventeen minutes before Clover, Jacque, and Davy all had their little standoff. After Rival was stabbed the attacker took the next eight minutes to cover up his body in the library, and then Rival's body was discovered by Jacque at five fourteen PM. So Rival was left bleeding out for exactly four hours and thirty-seven minutes." Jade teared up a bit at the statement, "Ok, with that out of the way, your time to investigate begins now, so I'd hurry up on it." Edwards announced, which caused the prisoners to quickly leave the room.
Confessional: Deena
"Again..." Deena crossed her arms, "It's obviously Clover, why are we wasting our time on this?"
Confessional Over
Confessional: Jade
"Rival..." Jade cried as she held her arm up, "I'm gonna find whoever did this to you... they're gonna pay..."
Confessional Over
Confessional: Clover
Clover let out a loud sigh of love, "This place is truly perfect, the mood and everything is just so despairing... I can't believe I was blessed with this..."
Confessional Over
"Fuck." Davy tried to look away from Jade, who was walking with her arms crossed and her head down, "Davy can't help but feel bad for her, he didn't even like Rival all that much but fuck... she's gotta live with knowing the person she liked most got stabbed, lord knows Davy would lose it if he lost... his band mates."
"Yeah." Deena put her arms behind her dead in an attempt to not look shaken up about another incident of violence in the prison, "We should probably not go and talk to her at the moment, she'll probably be pissed if we try and go in like we knew Rival like she did."
The moment Deena finished her sentence, however, the duo noticed the sight of George walking up to Jade, something that caused the two to groan in annoyance, "What is that fucking idiot doing?" Davy facepalmed at the sight of George.
Deena scoffed, "Who knows and who cares? If he wants to get his ass kicked by Jade, we can let him."
Davy grinned, "Yeah that'll be fun to see."
George walked up behind Jade and tapped the modern-day Robinhood on the shoulder, which immediately caused her to turn around and grab him straight by the collar out of anger. "What do you want?" Jade spoke with nothing but pure anger, not wanting to deal with George's usual nonsense.
"Hey hey hey relax!" George tried to free himself from Jade's grip, "I just wanted to say I'm sorry ok? I was dick to you and Rival, well, a lot, so I figured I might as well... make it right." George claimed, causing Jade to let go of him while she turned away from him, she figured it was just him lying, so she didn't even bother listening.
Confessional: George
"That was half a lie, ok?" George rubbed the back of his neck where his shirt was pressed up against, "I don't really want Jade to start targeting, so getting on her good side is my best bet, and also fuck, that could've been me, so I guess I can be a little nice about it." George tapped his finger on his cheek "I'm still gonna look out for myself though, why the hell would I want to let someone else go free while I go to jail?"
Confessional Over
The prisoners all made it to the area where Rival was stabbed, with there being a messily-drawn chalk outline of what Rival's body looked like on the ground, in addition to the outline was a partially dry puddle of blood that Jacque hadn't noticed when he found Rival, and right next to the blood was a few bloody shoe prints that led up the stairs before slowly stopping.
"Alright, so we just gotta find some clues here." Deena shrugged, "We link them back to Clover and she finally goes home, easy enough I guess."
Jacque looked around the room, "Speaking of Clover, where did she go, exactly?" Jacque asked, causing the rest of the prisoners to look around the room in confusion, Clover was nowhere to be found, which only further cemented their belief that she was guilty.
Confessional: Clover
"Of course, I'm not gonna help them!" Clover laughed at the thought of helping the others out, "Nah, I'll just hang around somewhere random in the prison until I find out which one of these beautiful contestants gave us more despair!"
Confessional Over
Jade kept a hand over her eyes as she took a deep breath and looked down at one of the shoeprints, this was a pretty major piece of evidence, so she had to write it down somehow. Jade then got an idea of what to do as she covered the blood part of the shoeprint she was looking at with her crystals. After that was done Jade pulled off the crystal replica from the ground and shoved it into her pocket, "I got this shoeprint." Jade deadpanned as she continued looking around the room.
"I feel like we should check the library too, no?" George suggested as he glanced over at the library's door not too far away from the area, "I mean, that's where Jacque found Rival, so there has to be something there."
"Well, what about that room?" Jacque pointed over at the door Rival had tried to enter before he was stabbed. For some reason, the door now had a wooden barricade over it, suggesting that the prisoners should probably stay out of it.
"Davy thinks that's just more proof that that Edwards bitch had something to do with this, if there's now a barricade on the door, obviously he doesn't want us to see it." Davy shrugged as he knocked on the door, "Davy thinks he tricked Rival into opening the door and had Clover stab him for the despair of consequences or some bullshit like that." Davy left the door alone, he like everyone else there knew if there was a symbol not to do something, you shouldn't do it.
"That's pretty likely." Jacque grabbed at his sides, "Edwards is a bastard like Chris, so him doing something like that doesn't sound like it's impossible."
Jade sniffed as she formed a basket out of crystals and put the shoeprint in there, "We can use this to... keep the evidence we find. Has anyone else found anything yet?"
George yawned as he opened the door to the library and went inside the room, "Nope, but I still think this room is worth checking. If anyone wants to help out, feel free." George's voice echoed out as he closed the door to the library after Jacque followed him into the room.
"Ok, now that they're gone," Deena began, "I think we should put together a suspect and motive list." Deena suggested.
"Suspect and motive? So you mean who and why?" Davy questioned the delinquent.
Deena nodded in response, "Yeah, here's how it should be ordered, we start with the most likely suspect, Clover, and put down her reasoning for stabbing Rival, IE: causing despair in the prison or whatever, and then we keep going until we've checked off everyone. I'd say after Clover George is the most likely prisoner to be honest. I know Davy and I didn't stab the guy, and Jacque never really gave off the vibes of a murderer."
Jade sighed as she looked down at Rival's outline, "I guess, but I don't see how it could've been anyone else other than Clover. Nobody here seemed like a killer in disguise... if you wouldn't mind me asking, what did you and Davy get arrested for?"
Davy laughed a bit, "Davy had a little too much fun one day and was taken in for resisting arrest, along with quite a few other charges."
Deena shrugged, "Who even knows for me, I've done so many different things that I've lost count, though, attempted murder and murder were never one of them."
Jade gave a very brief suspicious glance at Deena before looking back up, "Ok... I'd like to think it's just Clover who's responsible for the crime, but I'm willing to go as far as to extend it to George... especially since I know he already doesn't like me or Rival. Jacque is the only person here I'm not certain of, but like you said, he's never given off the vibes of someone willing to just try to kill someone else here, he seems more focused on trying to get by than anything."
Davy yawned, "Davy thinks we should start gathering info rather than wasting time talking, like the fact that we still need to figure out who'd be capable of stabbing Rival in the first place."
Jade nodded very slightly, "Yeah, that would be the best idea..."
"Hey take a look at this." George pointed to the puddle of blood in the place of where Rival's body was. "There's a photo here." George pointed to a small photograph on the ground and picked it up, the quarterback held up the photo to find a picture of the stabbed Rival on a stretcher, clearly only being here to help the prisoners understand the size of Rival's stab wound. "Uhhh... I think this is a... butcher knife or something. I don't really know."
Jacque took the photo from George while keeping an arm on his side, "Hmm, not quite. I've seen my fair share of stabbings from drug deals gone wrong, butcher knives are slightly bigger, in fact, this wound is pretty specific, it doesn't look like something caused by a kitchen knife-"
"So Jade's the 'killer'!" George suddenly snapped his fingers like he figured out the case, "I knew I shouldn't have trusted her!"
Jacque rolled his eyes in response, "You do know they could've just stabbed him twice right? But I do think Jade's a pretty interesting choice of suspect, she'd definitely be able to get away with doing this without noticing, and yeah, her power is pretty good when you want to stab someone. I think we should hold onto this information for when it's time to try Jade." Jacque gave the photo back to George.
George shoved the photo into his pocket very carefully before continuing to look around the room, "Damn though, it doesn't look like there's any other evidence in here." George groaned in annoyance, "I really thought we would find something else."
"Yeah..." Jacque sneakily looked in the opposite corner of the room to see a small knife that was covered in blood. The sheisty dude quietly shoved the knife into a bookshelf without George noticing as George leaned over and found something underneath one of the bookshelves.
"Hey look at this!" George lifted up a generic orange jumpsuit that had a blood stain on it, "Looks like our killer couldn't be bothered to hide their jumpsuit in a better way." George chuckled before folding the jumpsuit up, "Well if I were a betting man I'd say they put on a different jumpsuit and then stabbed Rival, that way so they wouldn't need to wash their clothes, sounds pretty likely don't you think? Gotta admit though, I should change my clothes before someone thinks I just swapped outfits, you should probably too." George joked as he noted how he, Jacque, and Davy were all wearing orange clothes.
"Yeah." Jacque looked at the jumpsuit before getting ready to leave the room, "I'm gonna check on what the others are doing, feel free to keep searching." Jacque lightly stated as he left the room.
"Yeah yeah, I'm gonna solo this case easy." George laughed as he continued to look around the room for any more clues that could lead to Rival's attacker.
Confessional: Jacque
"George's getting a lot of clues for this..." Jacque let out a somewhat worried-sounding sigh, "That's just great."
Confessional Over
The prisoners continued their search for the rest of the remaining time but were unable to find any other pieces of evidence that were noteworthy enough to help, not that it mattered anyways, they had pretty much everything they needed minus the murder weapon itself, and the picture of Rival that George was hiding. After the investigation was finished the prisoners were all called down to the cafeteria where Edwards was waiting for them. "Hello prisoners." Edwards greeted the group, "How'd your investigation go? I would assume it went swimmingly."
"Good enough I suppose." Deena shrugged before sitting down at the only table in the cafeteria, since the other tables and chairs had been removed from the room, outside of one that was clearly meant for the current person on trial to stand at.
"Well that's nice to hear," Edwards chuckled before heading to the door of the room and locking it, "Since you all are ready, let's not beat around the bush shall we? First off, Clover, you are to sit over at that table to give your testimony for why you weren't the one who stabbed Rival." Edwards ordered Clover, who calmly got up with a smile and slowly walked over to the table Edwards told her to go to and sat down.
"This is gonna be so much fun!" Clover laughed as the other prisoners looked at her like they knew she was guilty.
"You have ten minutes to get as much out of Clover as you can." Edwards announced, "After those ten minutes are up, the next prisoner alphabetically will go up, and we will continue this until we reach Jade. After Jade's testimony is over you'll all have to pick which prisoner to eliminate, like I said before. Now with that out of the way, the trial shall... begin."
"So Clover, care to just a-" Deena began but was cut off by Clover.
"I stabbed Rival." Clover smiled as she admitted to the crime.
"What!?" Jade was taken aback by this confession.
"Huh?" Davy raised an eyebrow in pure confusion, why would someone admit to a crime they committed?
Clover blushed as she held her face up with her hands, "After I escaped from my cell I quickly went over to the kitchen and took a butcher knife, after I grabbed the weapon I needed I made quick work of Rival by stabbing him straight in the gut to give him the ultimate despair of never seeing Jade again, the voices in my head even helped give me the idea yesterday..." Clover laughed, "After that I dragged him into the library and put him behind the bookshelf before making my way to the gate, where I waited for Davy and Jacque to show up so I could look like I just got out of my execution... Sorry if you were hoping for a difficult case, but that's all there i-"
"No that's wrong!" George yelled out at Clover, catching the attention of the others "If that's what happened, how do you explain the lack of a blood trail and the jumpsuit I found in the library?"
Clover rolled her eyes like George was an idiot, "Duh, I changed into the jumpsuit and just wiped up the blood with it. Why do you think it took so long? Obviously, Edwards didn't wanna spoil those details!"
"Yeah, there's just no way it's anyone else George." Deena shrugged, "Clover is just the most likely to stab someone out of all of us. Jacque's too careful, me and Davy don't really care about anyone else here, Jade was basically dating Rival, and you're looking out for yourself, that only leaves Clover."
George grinned as he pulled out the photo from his pocket, "Well then how do you explain this?" George held up the photo, "The stab wound is too big to come from a butcher's knife, if Clover stabbed him with one like she claimed than Rival would have a much larger... uh stab hole or whatever they're called."
"You had that the whole time?" Deena yelled at George in annoyance.
Clover's eyes widened in surprise at George's sudden use of information, "I simply misspoke is all. That's all."
"No," Jade spoke up, "As much as it hurts for me to say this... it can't be Clover. It has to be someone else here..." Jade clenched her fist at the thought of Clover being innocent in this situation.
"Why's that?" Davy asked in a confused tone, "Davy doesn't see how it could be someone else."
Jade looked up, "Clover's obsessed with despair, right? So why would she stab someone rather than let them stay in this horrible place? Being here is worse than having to be medically evacuated. If she wanted Rival to get eliminated, she could've just voted him out after she won the challenge, if she was that far ahead she had no competition to worry about and could easily snatch the victory. Plus, wouldn't Clover be filling herself with despair by framing herself as the person who stabbed Rival? That sounds like something she would want, so I just can't see it being her anymore..."
"Aww..." Clover pouted as she crossed her arms and looked away, "You're no fun Jade, I wanted to feel something nice today, not to have my plans foiled!"
"Uhhh.. is she guilty or not? Davy's confused." Davy scratched his head as Deena chimed in.
"While that is likely, there's still the issue of it being impossible to be any of us, right?" Deena crossed her arms, "So unless anyone can definitively prove that Clover's story was a lie I still believe it's her."
Jacque lifted his head up a bit, "I can do that actually." The other prisoners all looked at Jacque, with only Jade realizing what he was referring to.
"What!?" Davy let out, "How!?"
Jacque let out a slight smirk, "My power comes in handy for more than just fighting. I can read people's minds as well as speak to them telepathically. So all I'll need to do is simply look inside and Clover's head and..." Jacque focused his power on Clover who cried out definitely for Jacque to stay out of her head, "Wow. What a surprise, the crazy bitch was lying, who saw that coming?"
"Well, there's just no way it could-" Deena began but was cut off by Edwards.
"Clover, your testimony has expired, Davy, you're up!" Edwards announced, causing Davy and Clover to swap places.
Davy kicked his feet up onto the table and laid back in his chair, "Davy's got nothing to hide, feel free to ask away!" Davy opened himself to pretty much any question as Clover pouted in her chair about how her despair was taken from her.
"What exactly was your execution?" Jacque asked, "The best we're gonna get here is figuring out how difficult your challenge was."
"Oh that's easy." Davy shrugged off the question, "Davy was trapped inside of a locked room, that was pretty much it. Davy had to break his shoe to pick open the lock actually." Davy took off his shoe and showed off how the back of it was ripped open, "That was about it, after that Davy just rushed out of the room to see Jacque and Clover there, and then we all raced to the finish."
"Yeah, I'd doubt it's Davy anyways." Deena crossed her arms and shrugged, "He's not like that."
"I'm gonna call some bullshit there." George shook his head, only to get a death glare from Deena and Davy, "I-I-I mean, we gotta at least consider Davy a lot more, he's like the only one here who could overpower Rival physically. If Clover isn;t the one who stabbed Rival, then we should take into account everyone else going to stab Rival, and Davy would have the easiest time doing it right? He's the strongest of us physically."
Davy scoffed, "Davy doesn't kill or try to kill people, he'd get locked up forever and would never get to see his bandmates again, and that'd be hell on earth for Davy."
"Yeah, besides, would it really matter how strong someone is? Any of us could've just stabbed Rival from behind." Deena noted, "So strength isn't much of a factor here."
"The wound was from the front, though." Jacque pointed out, along with taking the picture from George, "There had to be some way for the attacker to get the advantage on Rival, so strength should be a factor here. However, I'm just gonna outright say it, Davy's a dumbass." Jacque bluntly stated, "He'd use his power to take out Rival rather than stab him. Besides like before all I've gotta do is look into Davy's mind to see if he's lying. Not that I'd need to, he's the second most obvious person innocent here, so there's no point in checking."
"Yeah exactly!" Davy laughed victoriously only for him to gain an offended look on his face, "Wait, Davy's not a dumbass!"
"I agree with Jacque." Jade sighed in relief as the number of suspects lowered, "Davy's not a likely pick, especially since if he's telling the truth about his challenge, there's no way he'd be able to get out fast enough to meet up with Rival, stab him, and then wait for someone else to make it to the main hallway. Besides, I don't think Davy would have the patience to do all that, I'd see him just taking the chance at victory as soon as possible."
"Yeah, Davy would just vote Rival out if he wanted to, but even if Davy did lose he'd just vote out Clover for hassling Deena the other day!" Davy claimed as Edwards got up to announce the next testimony.
"Thank you for your testimony, Davy." Edwards pointed over at Deena, "You're up next Deena."
Deena got up and passed by Davy, who gave her a quick thumbs up for good luck.
"Alright, let's just get these questions over with." Deena rolled her eyes as she sat down at the testimonial table.
"Why are you such a despair-stealing bitch?" Clover asked with a glare.
"Huh, what?" Deena was taken aback by Clover's sudden off-topic question, "What does that have to with anything?"
Clover crossed her arms and frowned, "Answer the question you dirty harlot."
Deena groaned and turned over to the other prisoners, "Anyone here have a serious question for me?"
"Well, I suppose we should get this one out of the way, where were you while Davy, Jacque, and Clover were having their race." Jade asked, she was a little suspicious of Deena due to her criminal past, but she still wasn't sure if she was the one who got Rival.
"My challenge was tedious as fuck." Deena stated truthfully, "I had to put together a code from a bunch of newspaper clippings, you guys got it easy compared to me." Deena complained about her challenge's difficulty.
George cracked his neck, "I dunno, I feel like that could be a lie, remember what Jacque said, strength is a factor here, and you seem like you could overpower Rival." George pointed out, with Deena rolling her eyes in response to George's observation.
"Yeah right. Have your little lie detector look through my head, he'll find that I'm telling the truth." Deena scoffed as Jacque looked into her mind.
"Yeah, she ain't lying." Jacque claimed as Deena drew a confident smirk on her face, "That's kind of strange though, I was with George in thinking you'd be suspicious." Jacque admitted.
Confessional: George
"Now that I think about, Jacque can get out anyone he wants by lying..." George tapped his chin as he thought things over, "This might be him trying to get Jade out by saying she's lying."
Confessional Over
"Yeah, I told you guys I wasn't lying." Deena brushed off Jacque's confessional, "Are there any other questions I gotta answer?"
"Nope, that will be all from you Deena." Edwards got up and interrupted the trial, "It's time for George to go up and defend himself."
George let out a confident grin as he got up and went to his seat for his testimony, "Ok I'm just gonna start my little testimony very simply for you guys. It is literally impossible for me to have been the one to have stabbed Rival, you wanna know why?" George didn't even give anyone else a chance to respond, "Because my FUCKING ARM IS BROKEN!" George yelled out as he pointed straight at his sling, "I think I've made my point clear."
"Yeah," Jade began to look straight at Jacque as he was the only remaining suspect left, "George may seem like a suspect at first, but I just can't see him as the one doing it with an injury like that."
"How do we know you didn't break your arm on purpose or something, I've seen some pretty crazy people beyond my life, and making yourself look harmless is a pretty good strategy to avoid being seen as a criminal." Deena pointed out, only for George to give an annoyed glare in response.
George stuttered out an answer in annoyance, "I- Uh... B-b-bitch do you think I'm crazy or something? Why the hell would I break my arm, I'm not a masochist!" George huffed, "Besides, I was trapped in my room the whole time because of my injury, that shit was rigged by the way Edwards, there was no way I was knocking down something that's nailed to the floor!"
Jacque pretended to read George's mind, not even bothering to check as he knew George didn't stand a chance against Rival if he had a dislocated shoulder, "Yeah, he's not lying, no big surprise here."
"Davy doesn't buy it!" Davy pointed out, "Davy's starting to think Jacque's bullshitting us with the lie-detecting stuff, after all, look how he's said everyone so far has not been lying, obviously he's gonna say he's not lying, so obviously that just leaves Jade, Davy thinks Jacque's trying to orchestrate Jade's elimination to save George, Davy's point, even with his injury George could use his power to stab Rival!" Davy pointed out, "It's gotta be George right?"
"Hah! That's just straight up to stupid to say!" George laughed, "Yeah I could've stabbed Rival with my power, but there's no way it'd be a clean wound like the one Rival had, it would be super jagged due to how my tendrils are!" George wrapped his arm in tendrils to demonstrate, "You know what I think? I think there's some hidden racism going on right now, you guys all keep saying it's me despite the fact that I have the most evidence going against it!" George shook his head, "For shame really."
"Ok let's not make ourselves look like fools now." Jacque gagged at George's claim.
Clover let out a long drawn-out sigh, "Can something interesting happen already? There's no despair in here and I'm getting bored."
"Shut up!" Davy, Deena, and George all simultaneously snapped at Clover who, again, crossed her arms and pouted.
"Thank you for your time George, but this one's not even gonna go anywhere, and I'd like to speed things up rather than continue to waste time." Edwards stated before announcing the next person, "Jacque, your turn to defend yourself."
"Got it." Jacque got up with his arms still crossed as he went into his seat, "Just ask away, I don't really care what."
"Yeah, Davy's noticed you've been covering your side the whole time, why's that exactly?" Davy pointed at Jacque's side, which he was still covering, "Did you injure yourself or something? 'Cause Davy thinks there's no reason to do that."
Jacque's eyes widened at the question, "I... yes, I hit my side while getting off my bed this morning."
"Well, if that's the case you wouldn't mind moving your arms then would you?" Jade asked Jacque, who grew a somewhat nervous expression, "What's wrong with doing that? If you're innocent you'd have no problem with this."
"Ok ok, fine." Jacque held his arms up, revealing that the side of his shirt had a bloodstain on it, and while seemed like it was his at first, it didn't take long until everyone realized it was Rival's, "Before anyone says anything, I simply got blood on me when I found Rival, that's all that happened. I didn't show it off because I knew you guys were gonna accuse me of something I didn't do."
"You'd have no reason to hide that, though." Jade pointed out, starting to piece together more of the story, "And I just thought of something, this shoe print!" Jade held up the shoe print, let's see if yours matches up with the replica." Jade walked over to a slightly nervous Jacque and watched as he lifted up his foot, it was an exact match of the one that stepped in the blood. "How do you explain this exactly?"
"I stepped in the blood when I found Rival." Jacque replied, trying to keep a poker face, "I just happened to be near the pool of blood when I ran out of the room." Jacque claimed as Jade sat back down in her seat.
"That's a lie." Jade replied, "You'd have to go down a small hallway in the basement to get to the library in the prison, the room where Rival's body was first found goes past that hallway, why would you run down to that door and turn around to go back up the stairs? And if you did do that, why weren't there any steps of you turning around?"
"Yeah!" Deena chimed in, "Plus if you stepped in the blood and that happened to be the first thing that tipped you off of Rival being stabbed, what made you go to the library? Even if you did guess the library first, there should've been footsteps leading to it, not to the stairs."
George stayed silent to hide the information he had of Jacque knowing that Rival wasn't stabbed by a butcher's knife, he needed his alliance mate to stay in the game for his safety.
"Davy's surprised you're the big bad guy here Jacque, he never took you as one." Davy shook his head in disappointment, "So what happened was you finished whatever your execution was first, you grabbed a knife from the kitchen or just used your power to act as a knife to take out Rival, made sure you had a change of clothes to keep yourself safe from suspicions, then used your powers to bring Rival to the library without spreading any blood, and finally while you were checking the original pool of blood you accidentally got some on your shoe and didn't notice, and when you did notice much later it was too late as you couldn't go down to the area as Rival's body had already been discovered by yourself. Did Davy cover everything?" Davy raised an eyebrow, with Jacque staying silent in response.
Clover perked up at the information, "Oooh, I didn't expect Jacque to do the deed, I guess it makes sense though, he needed to cause some ruckus here, and he'd be able to slip out of it unnoticed."
"Well, I'd hate to interrupt this development, but unfortunately, it's time for Jade's testimony," Edwards announced, causing Jacque to let out a huge sigh of relief as he rushed to his seat and Jade got up to the table and sat down.
"Alright let's just breeze through this." Deena shrugged, "It's obviously Jacque so there's no point in dragging this o-"
"It was you, Jade!" George suddenly yelled out, catching everyone at the table in shock.
"What!?" Jade let out in surprise and anger at the accusation.
Deena raised an eyebrow in surprise, "How? All evidence points to Jacque."
"Are you stupid or something?" Davy scoffed, "Jade couldn't have done it."
"Oh, let's hear this out though!" Clover clapped her hands at George's sudden yelling.
"Jacque's footprint was found at the scene, yes, and there's blood on his shirt, but here's what I think is an interesting detail nobody cares to notice, Jade can create anything she wants with her power! What's stopping her from making a replica of Jacque's shoe and then stepping in the puddle of blood Rival left behind as a way to frame Jacque?" George gave a slight grin, "You can fool anyone else, but I'm not so easily tricked, let's also go over how your motive is the tightest, you're the only one who can get away with this nine times out of ten, everyone thinks of you as Rival's best friend, so if you were to suddenly betray him like this, nobody would expect you to be the one who did it! The jumpsuit being orange is also an indicator that it's you! Me, Jacque, and Davy all wear orange jumpsuits, so it wouldn't be unreasonable for someone to assume that one of us stabbed Rival and grabbed another jumpsuit to change into, but it should be just as likely to assume that you'd wear that jumpsuit as to prevent any unwanted attention towards yourself."
"Yeah." Jacque added in, "It's easy for her just to frame me, I bet if I check her mind right now I'll see that she's stressing out about this!" Jacque gained a confident look as he read Jade's mind, with Jade looking more upset and angry than nervous, "Heh..." Jacque let out, "It really was you, wasn't it? You faked it everything... You stabbed Rival, and nearly got me, but you weren't counting on George to point out your bullshit were you?" Jacque grinned victoriously.
"Oh come on." Deena rolled her eyes, "Davy already pointed out that you were gonna do this, we're not just gonna fall for it because you're a good actor!" Deena pointed at Jacque, "You and George are in cahoots and are trying to pass it on to Jade!"
"Yeah!" Davy yelled out, "Jade's innocent, you're trying to protect the attempted murderer here!"
"No, you're denying the facts!" George retorted, "We never found a weapon either, so Jade probably just made a blade with her crystals and then stabbed Rival with it, after she did that she got rid of it and then hid Rival's body, this especially explains why she wasn't with the main three for the final race!"
"George is right!" Clover added in, "Jade wanted to feel the pain of losing a loved one, so she took out Rival... she performed the ultimate despair!"
"Why would I do that to Rival!?" Jade yelled out in sadness, "He was the only person I had left in this prison, I don't have Monica or Relinda anymore, and I'm now all alone! I would never in a million years try to hurt Rival, he was the only thing keeping me going and now he's gone..." Jade began to cry, "And you have the gall to go and say I attacked him..."
"Well, this was certainly an interesting conclusion." Edwards cut off Jade as he got up and smirked at the fight going on, "But it appears now it's time for all of you to vote while I tally them all up." Edwards announced to the other prisoners, causing them all to look at him in surprise at the suddenness of his announcement. Edwards laughed as he left the prisoners behind in the room, all of them mixed on who to vote for...
Edwards walked back into the cafeteria where everyone was anxiously waiting for him to announce the results of their votes. Edwards looked around at the nervous contestants and grinned, "It appears that all of you are nervous to find out which one of you attacked Rival, so I wonder how you would react if I decided to play all of your votes for all to see?"
"You wouldn't!" Jade gripped her fists in rage at Edwards.
Davy crossed his arms, "Yeah come on that's not fair!"
Edwards laughed obnoxiously, "Fair? Since when has this place ever been fair? You seem to be misremembering how things work in this here prison." Edwards pulled out a remote as two interns rolled in a T.V. set, Edwards pointed the remote at the t.v. and turned it on to reveal a video of Clover voting, "Now then, let us all enjoy this viewing, shall we?" Edwards smirked at the prisoners, who tried to look away from him.
"Whatever," Jacque rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, "Let's just get this over with."
"Yeah." George tried to cross his arms, only to yelp in pain from his shoulder injury.
Confessional: Clover
"Hmm, I agree with George on the statement that Jade was the one to stab our little despair doll Rival," Clover tapped her chin while smiling, "But why would I vote for her now? She gave him the ultimate despair of a friend betraying him when he thought he could trust her more than anyone else in the world... what a perfect display of despair from our thriving friend... So, I'll have to vote George as consolation, he seems to be the least affected by despair here, so he should leave..." Clover laughed as she crossed an x over George's portrait, "Now it's only a matter of seeing if he leaves..." Clover burst into a fit of laughter as the confessional ended.
Confessional Over
George took a deep and nervous breath as the confessional ended and moved onto Davy's confessional.
Confessional: Davy
"Psh, come on, it's obviously gotta be Jacque's lying ass!" Davy crossed his arms and held up devil horns, "Dumbass clearly didn't have a plan for when it came to him for his little game of lie detecting!" Davy laughed as he crossed out Jacque's picture, "Davy thought you were a chill enough guy, and he definitely didn't expect you to be a murderer in disguise, but that definitely explains why you were so reserved for the whole season!" Davy gave a peace sign as he left the confessional.
Confessional Over
Jacque perked up a slightly nervous eyebrow as he watched Davy vote for him.
Confessional: Deena
"It's so obviously Jacque." Deena rolled her eyes as she leaned on the wall of the confessional, "I dated a serial killer once, and dude got away with so many murders in secret by pretending to be the person to find the body. Jacque really tried using the same strategy as him, but it's not gonna fool me, I know criminals so well that I can read anyone like a book whenever they're guilty, and Jacque's lie-detecting defense basically confirmed my suspicions, I'm voting for Jacque." Deena casually crossed off Jacque's picture before getting out of the confessional.
Confessional Over
Jacque started to get more and more nervous for his safety after Deena's confessional, seeing as he was tightly gripping into his arms.
While Jacque was starting to get nervous, George gave a concerned look for his only ally's safety in the game.
Confessional: George
"Oh come on, it's so obvious that Jade's the one who did it!" George stretched his good arm out while making a 'duh' expression, "She's the only person Rival would let get close to him without putting up a fight, so she faked being his friend and then got rid of him as soon as the chance presented itself." George scoffed as he crossed off Jade's picture, "I gotta admit Jade, that's pretty fucked up, even for my standards. Oh well, what's done is done, Rival's gone and hopefully Jade will be too so she can't stab me as well for figuring out her secret..." George nervously laughed as he looked up with a concerned expression, "Ah fuck I shouldn't have accused her...
Confessional Over
Jade gave a quick glare to George who tried to avoid eye contact by whistling like he did nothing wrong. Not that it mattered anyways, Jade knew for a fact that she was gonna be safe...
Confessional: Jacque
"It has to be Jade," Jacque stated as a matter of factly, "George brought up a good point by saying she was the only one here who could get close to Rival, besides, she does have the best power here for stabbing people, and from the picture we got, the wound was just enough to be from one of her crystal swords or whatever she uses." Jacque sighed as he crossed off Jade's picture, "Come on Davy and Deena, you guys should know I ain't a killer, nor have I ever attempted something that low." Jacque hoped for fate to turn his way as he left the confessional.
Confessional Over
Jacque's eyes widened as he fully realized the result of the vote, yes there was still Jade's confessional, but it didn't matter. Jade was gonna vote him. He lost. He knew it would happen eventually but he thought just maybe if he actually tried hard enough that luck would tilt his way and let him have a victory for once...
Confessional: Jade
Jade tried her hardest to hold back tears as her hand shook over Jacque's picture, "I... Rival was such a good person and you tried to kill him! You're almost the lowest scum in this rathole of a prison... only being beaten out by Clover." Jade wiped away her tears, "I never noticed anything wrong about you either! I can't believe I let myself be fooled by you... well not anymore! I'm not giving anyone else the chance to take something away from me. Clover, you better watch yourself, because your next, and I will guarantee you being sent back to prison!" Jade teared up as she crossed off Jacque and left the confessional.
Confessional Over
Jacque buried his head in his hands as Jade's confessional finished, it was over, he was going back to jail and there was nothing he could do to stop it.
Edwards turned off the T.V. and turned over to the prisoners, "Well well well, with a one to two to three vote, Jacque has cemented himself as the next person going back to prison, any final words for us Jacque?"
George tried his best to look away from the broken sight of Jacque, he knew he was gonna inevitably betray the guy, but he couldn't help but feel sorry for him, partially due to his involvement in George staying safe, yes, but also due to the fact that Jacque was pretty much the only person remaining willing to work with George, and George couldn't do anything to keep his alliance mate in the game.
"You deserve to rot for what you did!" Jade cried, "Rival was a great person and you tried to..." Jade began to sob uncontrollably as Clover smiled at the sight of all this despair happening in the room.
Edwards coughed to get the attention back to him, "Like I was saying, do you have any final words for your fellow prisoners Jacque?" Edwards asked the shiesty dude, who slowly looked up and began to speak...

..."Yeah..." Jacque gave a dead glare straight to Jade, "I'm glad to be out of this hellhole." Jacque spoke with no emotion as he pulled a freedom idol out from his pocket and slammed it onto the table.
"Hmm?" Edwards looked surprised, he hadn't checked on the idols so this came as a shock to him.
George's eyes widened at the sight of the second freedom idol being played, in the end he was right, Jacque was going to betray him, but in a way that guaranteed Jacque's survival.
"What!?" Jade moved backward in pure surprise, "H-how!?"
Jacque simply cracked his neck and shrugged, "Davy tripped me in the last challenge and I fell on this mound of dirt, I figured I'd use my powers to dig it up to see what was there, and there just so happened to be a freedom idol." Jacque turned to over to the shocked George, "Sorry George, I was originally planning to keep it as insurance and was going to keep playing the game, but after Rival got stabbed I decided I wasn't gonna take the risk anymore and I had to get out of here as fast as possible. So I just planted some fake bits of evidence here and there and acted guilty, even planted a fake knife there too."
"I..." George tried to say something in response but he knew there was no use, he got played by something he would do, and he couldn't even be mad about it.
"Well then," Edwards spoke as everyone stayed still in silence, "Looks like fate is on your side Jacque, since you get to go free, well, whenever Salem gets back-"
Edwards was cut off by Salem suddenly teleporting into the room and letting out a loud yawn, "Who would've guessed having to rebuild an entire army as fast as possible would be so boring, anyways, what happened while I was gone?" Salem acted like he wasn't here the whole time.
"Rival got stabbed by one of our prisoners and Jacque just used a freedom idol to escape elimination." Edwards calmly stated as Salem let out a loud groan.
"I just got back from hell and the first thing I gotta do is destroy evidence and brainwash people? You could've at least greeted me with something fun for my return." Salem 'complained'.
Edwards let out an annoyed groan, "Just do it."
Salem rolled his eyes as he grabbed Jacque and teleported him away from the prison... making Jacque the second person to escape with an idol.
"Oh and since we're all here, I figured I'd show the tape of Rival's stabbing," Edwards point the remote at the T.V., "And a little tidbit for all of you to think about, Jacque wasn't the one who stabbed Rival."
Davy, Deena, and Jade all looked away from the T.V. in the realization that they had been tricked by Jacque just so he could get himself away from here.
"Well? Show us who did it then!" George crossed his one good arm over his leg in impatience as Edwards turned on the T.V. to reveal who did the evil deed...
"One shot at this Rival... don't be afraid now." Rival mumbled to himself as he began to turn the doorknob, his body shook while he opened the door slowly, he wanted to be confident but his fears shot up his spine. His fears wouldn't stop him, however as Rival still opened the door, only for him to stare in pure horror at what was inside the room. "Why is this here!?" Rival felt the urge to throw up as he covered his mouth with his hand and gripped his stomach.
That wasn't all of it either, as Rival was met with the sudden feeling of someone placing their hand on his shoulder, Rival shot up in surprise as he took the hand off of his shoulder. "Rival..." A familiar voice spoke as Rival turned around, he could've sworn they weren't here though, that they were somewhere else in the prison... Rival let out an audible gulp of fear as he slowly turned to face the prisoner who had called his name...

Rival turned around to see none other than Jade, who had a concerned expression on her face and was now wearing a different jumpsuit than usual, "You shouldn't go in that room, I swear, the door had a do not enter sign on it before, I don't know why the sign's gone..."
Rival sighed in relief at the sight of the person he loved, "Oh thank goodness it's just you Jade, but it's too late now, I've already seen what's inside this room, there's no turning back n-" Rival was suddenly met with Jade stabbing him straight through his lower chest. Rival stumbled backward in shock and disbelief, "J...Jade..." Rival choked out as Jade knocked him over the head with her hammer to knock him out.
Jade shrugged before she grabbed Rival's body and began to carry him to the library, being careful to not get anymore blood on the floor by covering his wound up with her crystals. After she dropped Rival off in the corner of the library, she moved a bookshelf over to the guitarist as a method of hiding him before she turned around and calmly walked out of the library. The camera didn't pick up on the part in the library, but it got all that was needed, the footage of Jade stabbing Rival...
Jade teared up as she looked at the screen in pure horror, "N-n-no... that can't be real, that footage has to be fake! I'd never do that to Rival!"
"You bitch!" Davy yelled at Jade as the other prisoners watched in shock from his outburst, "You lied to all of us and the man you tried to kill and now you're still trying to rake out sympathy from us! Go burn in hell! You went on about how Jacque should rot but you know what? You deserve it just as much as any of us, you just pretended to be this high moral having hero when in secrecy you planned on trying to kill us? Who's next, huh? Is it gonna be me? Or Deena? Guess what Jade? You're not getting the chance to do that to us... you're the one who's going in the next challenge, you won't get a chance to weasel yourself to safety."
Deena scoffed as she crossed her arms, "Yeah, you're a real piece of shit, aren't you? Let's get out of here Davy, she's just trying to manipulate us."
George whistled awkwardly as he slowly walked out fo the cafeteria, but on the inside, he felt nothing but pure glee that the spotlight was no longer gonna be on him, he had Clover and Jade to be his target, and that was all the time he needed to think of a plan to get rid of Deena or Davy.
Jade kept sobbing, she knew she was innocent, but she had no idea how footage that real-looking could've been faked, all she could do was pray that there was a way to prove that the footage was edited and that she was framed.
Clover burst out into a fit of mad laughter at the sight of everything happening, "Yes! Despair has ruled over this prison! It's so potent too! The perfect despair!"
The five remaining prisoners went on their ways, Clover went off to who knows where to gush about all the despair in the prison, George snuck into the library to avoid any unwanted attention, Jade stayed in the cafeteria sobbing, and Davy and Deena went back to their cells together.
"Night Davy." Deena yawned as she laid down in her bed, "Kill Jade for me if she tries anything, will ya?" Deena morbidly joked, though it didn't lighten either of the two's anger.
Davy scoffed, "Oh I'll be happy to." Davy mumbled as he went back to his cell in anger, but on his way back he couldn't help but notice something peculiar... coming from Rival's cell was a bright yellow light. "Hey Deena..." Davy went back to Deena's cell to wake her up, but she was out cold. Davy went over to Rival's cell to see the book the angels had given him was floating in the air, "Davis Armadeus III, how well can you keep a secret?" Bernadette asked from inside the cell.
Abigor let out a coarse laugh from the inside of his dark room as Salem watched on in glee, "They've been split up, and Rival's trick has been dealt with, looks like there'll be no more interruptions for the rest of this..."
What a tragic way to end a chapter right? Part. 2: Electric Boogaloo. Yeah now all of the prisoners are split up except for Davy and Deena, and who knows how they'll go to function with that ending? Gotta admit, this was a really fun chapter to write, mostly just due to me being a fan of danganronpa, but also due to the amount of stuff that needed to be covered here, I'll admit I was originally worried about how the story was gonna go writing-wise with a smaller cast, but it seems to have turned out just fine.
Reasoning For Elimination: Jacque was... always planned to escape the prison, actually. I figured it fit his character really well for someone who gets fucked over a lot in life for life to give him a huge break for once. Plus, the guy was just too much fun to have his story end with 'oh he goes back to prison', I gotta say, in the beginning, I was very nervous about writing Jacque's character, but he ended up as my second favorite character to write in the story, only being beaten out by Aztaroth.
