Based on alternative events of Season 8.
"We've been hit! Brace yourselves!" Sam yelled as the helicopter he and his team were on started to take a nosedive and spin out.
The Osprey landed about 50 meters away from them. Sam and Deeks immediately picked up Kensi in her makeshift stretcher and began to hustle towards the aircraft as Callen forcefully guided Asakeem over as well.
"Get me a large bore IV!"
"Scissors!"
"Iodine and gauze, please."
"Get that EKG ready, and have paddles on standby"
"I've got her oxygen."
"Let's get that neck collar on her!"
"Give me some room here."
It was choreographed chaos in the helicopter as the medics worked around each other to remove Kensi's Keffiyeh, cut open her shirt, attached the EKG leads on her, cut a slit up her pants to assess her leg injury, and get her started on multiple fluids.
"We've still got a lot of active bleeding here." One medic announced as he was examining Kensi's leg. "We need to tighten that tourniquet."
"We need to get some blood in her."
"Give her a pint of O neg."
"She's B positive!" Sam, Callen, and Deeks all called out in unison trying to help in whatever way they could.
The Navy SARC gave them a small smile and reassured them that O negative blood would be ok. They did not carry type specific blood on the chopper.
As their aircraft made its way to the USS Carl Vinson, the on flight medical crew continued working on Kensi preparing her to be moved to the on ship OR as soon as they landed. She had multiple injuries that would need to be addressed immediately. She was critical. Asakeem sat cuffed in the far corner of the Osprey. Any moments Deeks wasn't looking at Kensi, he was glaring at the terrorist. Asakeem gave a sleazy smile to Deeks when he made eye contact driving Deeks into a blind rage. He stood to go pummel him when a loud noise of beeping drew his attention away from him.
"V-Fib!"
One Navy SARC grabbed their surgical scissors and cut off her bra to expose her chest while another worked to place the AED pads on her. At the same time another pushed 20ccs of epinephrine into one of her IVs.
"CLEAR!" One yelled. Callen and Sam looked away not being able to watch.
Everyone backed away and threw their hands up in the air indicating they were clear of her body. The SARC hit the "shock" button on the AED. Kensi's body shuttered as the shocked was delivered to her body.
One of the SARCs reached out for her neck with two fingers to check her pulse while another was performing chest compressions. The SARC felt a weak and thready pause. He left his finger there a moment and looked back to her EKG. "Still in V-fib. Charge again to 300."
"Clear!" Another medic yelled. The chest compressions stopped, and everyone once again stepped back.
Again, Kensi's body seized as the electrical current surged through her body in a desperate attempt to shock her heart back to a healthy rhythm. After her body convulsed the medics jumped right back in the performing CPR. After another round of epinephrine and more compressions the heart monitor let out a steady beat.
"We got sinus-tach."
"Good, keep working on stabilizing her." One said as they continued working on her.
Deeks let out a breath of relief. All three men were trying to stay out of the medical team's way, but Deeks couldn't help but try to get as close as possible. Kensi was in bad shape and they all knew it.
One of her IVs had blown, and the fluids weren't able to get pushed into her fast enough. They couldn't find another good vein at the moment, so the medical team used an IO needle. They drilled the cannula into her sternum and were now able to deliver fluids directly through her bone marrow and into her blood stream.
Deeks, Sam, and Callen all shuttered as they heard the sound of the drill, none of them able to look as the procedure was taking place.
They finally began their decent onto the aircraft carrier.
