A/N: My first songfic. Please let me know what you think!
I Won't Say I'm in Love
If there's a prize for rotten judgement,
I guess I've already won that
No man is worth the aggravation
That's ancient history, been there, done that.
Sharpay Evans flopped down on her king sized sleigh bed. She had a lot of things on her mind. She took out a bag of cookies that Zeke made her and began to eat. She was sick of her mother riding her about not eating in her room. She had only one thing on her mind. Troy Bolton.
"What am I thinking? Me and Troy Bolton? Puh-lease. He stole my lead. I can't love the enemy," she thought.
Who d'ya think you're kiddin'
He's the earth and heaven to you.
Try to keep it hidden,
Honey, we can see right through you.
Girl, ya can't conceal it,
We know how ya feel and who you're thinking of.
She called her cousin Elle who acted on Broadway and lived in New York.
"Hello? This is Elle."
"Hey Elle, it's Shar."
"Hey Shar! What's up?"
"Well I like this guy, but there's a problem."
"Don't tell me you're not pretty enough, 'cause you're gorgeous sister!"
Sharpay laughed, "But that isn't the problem. He stole the lead from me and Ry in the last musical. I love him, but I hate him."
"Wow Shar. That's a biggie. I suggest you forget about the whole musical thing. It's just a musical. Nothing that big."
"How can you say that Elle? Acting is what I live for! I can't just forget this."
"Acting isn't everything Shar."
When Elle said that, Sharpay hung up. Elle was wrong. Acting was everything. Acting was why Sharpay didn't run away from home after her father hit Ryan. Acting was why she pretended to be who she was at school. Acting was her life. And she just wasn't going to forget that Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez stole her lead.
No chance, no way, I won't say it, no, no
You swoon, you sigh, why deny it uh oh
It's too cliché, I won't say I'm in love
I thought my heart had learned it's lesson,
It feels so good when you start out.
My head is screaming "Get a grip girl!"
Unless you're dying to cry your heart out.
She didn't love Troy Bolton. She was going to forget every single thought she had about him. She was going to forget all about his mesmerizing eyes and his brown hair and how it flopped in his face when he laughed. He was gone. She might even consider dating Zeke. At least she would get a lot of free cookies right?
You keep on denying
Who you are and how you're feeling.
Baby, we're not buying,
Hon, we saw ya hit the ceiling.
Face it like a grown up,
When ya gonna own up that ya got, got, got it bad.
But then she started thinking again. If she could forget Troy, couldn't she forget about the musical? Couldn't she forget it never happened?
Impossible. Acting was her life. She breathed acting. She lived for it. She wished her mind was like Ryan's. He was so dim; he could forget the name of the play if Sharpay didn't remind him to practice everyday. She wished her life could be as simple as Ryan's.
No chance, no way, I won't say it, no, no.
Give up, give in. Check the grin you're in love.
This scene won't play; I won't say I'm in love.
You're doing flips, read our lips, you're in love.
You're way off base, I won't say it.
Get off my case, I won't say it.
She couldn't forget about either one. Her love for Troy couldn't be forgotten.
"I love you Troy," she whispered.
Girl, don't be proud, it's ok you're in love.
At least out loud, I won't say I'm in love.
