Hello everyone,
This is a story that I wrote based on the book series Wings of Fire. Some characters are used from the book series but the rest is from my creativity. The continent it takes place on is Petonix. There are three dragon tribes there Webwings, Cavewings, and Drillwings. I hope you all enjoy the story and I plan on making more books in the series later on. The events of this arc would take place after the events of book 15 of Wings of Fire.
A war rages beneath the surface.
Prancer has always wanted to join the Webwing army. He wants to fight against the Cavewings who had shattered the peace in Petonix centuries ago. Webwings and Cavewings used to be at peace until the Cavewings started the war with the Webwings over a lost artifact. The lost artifact is said to hold immense power and Prancer is willing to defeat any Cavewing in his way to make sure his tribe can have that power.
His parents don't believe in him though, thinking he will just run off to his death. They don't seem to understand that with his best friend Hunter secretly training him, he would be the Webwing to end the war with the Cavewings, once and for all. The only problem though is the huge secret Prancer has kept from everyone his whole life.
Nothing could warn Prancer of what would happen when his secret was exposed. Suddenly everything he knows is shattered, throwing him into a world that he never knew existed. Prancer's life isn't as simple as it seems, as new light is shined onto his situation. Maybe all of his questions can be answered though if he is able to untangle the lies from the truths.

PROLOGUE
Two Hundred Years Ago…
Petonix was always a peaceful place to live. Wars never happened between the tribes there, Cavewings and Webwings lived in peace with each other. There was rumored to be another tribe there called Drillwings, but no one ever saw one so it was assumed that they never existed at all.
No one knew what was above them on the surface but then nothing had tried to attack them from up there yet so there was no need to worry about it.
Dredge was helping dig a tunnel to connect two cave systems together to make access easier. Accompanying him was his wife and queen of the Webwings, Queen Shelob, as well as the Cavewing Queen Lennon and her husband, Nash.
What a lovely day to be digging a tunnel, Dredge thought. He was happy to be digging this tunnel for their tribes. It would benefit them in so many ways possible. It would open up a safer way for the dragonets to go to school, it would give more space for the tribes to expand, and it would be a good opportunity to find more valuable ore.
"So when do you think we will be done digging this tunnel," Nash said.
There Nash is, always impatient, Dredge thought with a smile.
"Hold on to your rocks Nash," Lennon said. "I know you want to go back home and hang out with the kids but this tunnel is beneficial to the Cavewings and Webwings."
"Hmph!" Nash said.
Dredge had to hold his smile back. Nash was always a grumpy one for doing work and would rather be hanging out with his sons and daughters. It almost reminded Dredge of what he was like. Dredge too loved hanging out with his kids but would always put work in front because he saw it as beneficial for not only his kids but also his tribe.
They were almost done digging the tunnel when all of a sudden, a sinkhole opened up underneath them and they all fell down in it. With some quick thinking, Dredge quickly produced a web that caught them all before they hit the bottom.
"That was a close one," said Dredge. "Is everyone alright?"
"Yeah," Shelob said.
"We're alright too," Nash said. "What is this place?"
They all looked around the cave that they had fallen into and for the most part, it seemed like any other cave, but in the middle was a pillar made out of gold.
"Woah," said Nash. "What is that?"
"I don't know," Dredge said. "Let's go check it out."
The group went up to the gold pillar and etched onto the pillar was writing that was written in an ancient language. Neither one of the dragons there knew what the language was or what it meant.
"What do you think this means?" Queen Lennon said.
"Who knows, maybe it was something made by the Drillwings," Nash said.
"Nash, we all know that Drillwings aren't real!" yelled Dredge.
"But how do you know that?" Nash yelled back. "I swear that I was wandering the tunnels one day and saw a Drillwing run down a tunnel! I chased it down but it disappeared through a tunnel that it must have drilled. I swear I would never make something like this up!"
Queen Shelob stepped in between the two arguing dragons, "ENOUGH YOU TWO! We are trying to figure out what this pillar is and not start AN ARGUMENT ABOUT WHETHER DRILLWINGS EXIST OR NOT! So please SHUT YOUR SNOUTS FOR TWO MINUTES while the queens figure out what this is."
Both of the dragons went quiet immediately. If there was someone who you didn't want to be on the bad side with, it was Queen Shelob. Dredge walked back up to the pillar and examined it thoroughly.
I wish I could read these words to figure out what they meant. Then I could figure out what we could use this pillar for and could understand where it came from.
All of a sudden, the words in front of Dredge changed into their Dragon language and he could read what it said. He was shocked when he learned what it could do and the power of this one pillar. In a panic, he looked around to see if anyone else noticed the words had changed but everyone else was busy chatting with each other.
Seems like I am the only one who knows the true power of what this pillar can do. Hmmm, Dredge thought as he looked at the Cavewings who were there with them. This is a power that can be very powerful to everyone. Or, thought a dark thought in the back of his mind, maybe everyone can't be trusted with it and it is only a power that should be mine. Yes, I intend to keep it that way, Dredge thought as he looked around the room, even if it has unseen … consequences.
