Shadow King

You had always thought it was rather sad, how one person could change so many's relationships.

A girl in the host club. Cue the whispers.

A girl who saw through everything. Cue the gasps.

A girl whose kindness shone through the dark and wrapped her angel wings around all the poor, lonely, misunderstood souls of the Host Club (which solely exists because those lonely, misunderstood boys craved love they didn't get from their mothers, etc).

When summarized, it certainly sounds like something only a crazy, video game obsessed French young woman would cook up.

Kaoru had said that Hikaru was too clueless to fall in love, didn't he?

And look at what happened, you think to yourself, bitterly, smiling that all-knowing smile which, in the past, have frightened great men. (Not the girl, of course -- see part about 'girl' and 'insert synonym for kindness here'.)

You also had once thought that the King was too clueless to truly fall in love. Now you can only watch as the King stooped to newer, greater, lower levels for said girl, proclaiming dying love as father, or admirer, or whatever he was these days.

And you can merely watch, while your chest feels compressed and your heart feels overdosed with pain; while you want to cry until your lungs break, because of pity -- How Can It Be, Such A Waste -- like a neon store sign frizzling and sizzling your once-sharp brain behind those once sharp-looking glasses into funny, glowing goo.

Being the Shadow King does have its advantages, you whisper to yourself now, inside your head, as you smile. Not that men-scaring one, but one that you've never smiled before, at least not in public. It's a rather sad one, one that looks almost insane in the mirror as you stare at yourself, once-sharp glasses off, eyes open wide, lips turned up and parted, baring the very tip of your teeth... you just want to cry. Cry and get it over with, because it's no more. You're nothing to him anymore.

Because when the time comes that you fall apart, no one will see you.

First time with the second person POV thing... if you haven't noticed by now that the 'you' is Kyouya, then please tell me, because I'll know next time to throw in more hints, in case this one was too vague.

Please leave some constructive comments. ) or encouragements… and I love flames. They're delightful to read and laugh at.
