Next was chemistry. I felt that chemistry would be something that would interest me a lot since it would involve a lot of study on the molecular level, and give me a better idea of how I could manipulate them with my psychic powers in the past. As each passing moment passed, I could seriously sense part of the callous me was starting to be shoved further down a metaphorical abyss in me and emerging more of the old me. When I was young and harmless. I was eager to go to chemistry because I would be meeting that boy Peter. He was cute, but tall and skinny and had some muscle tone to him. I wondered if he was in track and field or maybe swimming.

As I approached the class, I was met by the professor who was a man in his early 40s who was writing his credentials down on the blackboard. His name was Dr. Henry Blank who graduated from a university in Lilygrove City in a region called Hoenn. I was still getting use to the clunky feeling of moving my limbs and pulling out chairs to sit in them, but then someone beat me to it. It was Peter!

"H-hi, Sabrina," he said a bit bashfully. "I hope you don't mind that I pulled your chair out since I sensed a bit of difficulty."

"Oh, hi, Peter. That's fine, and I was struggling a little bit," I confessed a bit gingerly. I noticed the blush on his face and almost felt like giving one back, but it was far too soon to develop feelings for someone I didn't know.

"Oh, it's okay, we-" started Peter, but soon, four other students came in and a girl said,

"Oh, my gosh, you are totally Sabrina, the gym leader of Saffron! I can't believe you're in my chemistry class."

"Ex-gym leader," I confessed. "I have no interest in resuming that position."

"I see, I see," the girl said as she was chewing some gum. "Can you please show us some telekinesis or something?"

"Um..." I started a bit with hesitation and I didn't really know if I wanted to do it, but this girl was kinda getting on my nerves. I decided to humor her and outlined her water bottle that was empty and put it in the trash can about fifteen feet away. She was beyond impressed and several other students started clapping.

"Please...do more," the girl begged.

"I'm afraid that's all I feel comfortable with," I answered as I was really starting to feel mild anger. I didn't want to be regarded as a circus animal, merely performing tricks just to please these teenagers.

"Please..."

"No."

"Oh, come on, it's not-"

"Hey, the young lady said no; you need to respect others boundaries and abide by her wish. She showed you one demonstration of her powers, and if that's all she wants to show now, then that's all we get to see now. There are probably other psychics in Saffron who would love to brag about their powers, so consider finding one of them instead."

I was taken back at how Peter stepped in and defended me. It was so unexpected, but I felt safe to know someone was looking out for me.

"T-thank you..." I muttered to him with a small smile on my face as I finished that sentence. I could feel my cheeks getting hot.

"You're welcome," Peter told Sabrina. "Say, it may be too soon to ask this, but would you wanna hang out after class? Maybe just...get to know one another sooner?"

The fact that he showed this much interest in my was honestly a bit surprising, but I did not want to outright say no to him since I didn't fully know him and I did not want to read his mind and harbor secrets that I knew secrets about him.

"Could I have some time to think about it?" I asked. "I'm just...I'll tell you more about myself in time. I get the sense that you mean well, but..."

"You don't have to explain any further, I'll respect your space," he nodded at me.

I felt some relief as I didn't want anyone getting too close to me just yet, as I was still trying to get accustomed to feeling emotions. I did for a little bit of something for him, but I had to have myself fully figured out before I get involved with any boys. After a while the professor came in and began to give us a lecture on the basis of thermodynamics. It was a pretty interesting topic and I began to write notes on the stuff he was teaching. We would be having lab experiments soon and would have to write thorough reports and I was looking forward to it.

Soon, I began to do something that I thought I would never do: daydream. I was thinking about that boy Lance. I really had a liking for Peter, too, but I knew that if anything were to develop between me and one of them, it would only be just one. The mere idea of having two boyfriends at once...!

"Miss Thorndyke, would the following be a spontaneous reaction or not?" the Professor Blank asked me.

"Considering that the reaction is endothermic, there would be enough change of entropy at the given temperature to allow the reaction to occur spontaneously," I said as I somehow left my fantasy.

"That is absolutely correct!" the professor said and I sighed as I was able to get a moment of relief from not making myself look like a fool. Peter gave a thumbs up and I could tell he was impressed with my intelligence. I really needed to tell Erika about what I felt regarding these boys soon. Once the class was over, I could feel myself wanting to leave and meet with Erika and discuss her what I was feeling about these boys.

I waited in front of school in hopes of meeting Erika, but I heard...his voice.

"Hey, Sabrina, it's good to see you again."

"H-hi, Lance," I muttered lowly as I looked at the dapper male. He had on a pair of baggy denim shorts and a dark green polo shirt and was carrying a black backpack. He flashed a smile with his very healthy teeth and gums.

"So, how did you think of school? Were your classes interesting?"

"Yes, they were interesting and I liked all of them especially chemistry. I do think that I have a good load of coursework this year. How about you? What classes are you taking?"

"I take precalculus, as math is not my strong point, physics I, standard English 11, and economics."

"You only take four courses?" I asked as I was a bit perplexed.

"Well. It so happens I also share the same Japanese literature class as you do! We don't share the same period, but I wanted to save that for last. So if we get to know one another better, we could perhaps discuss some of the themes we got."

I was quite surprised to hear him say that we have the same Japanese course. So this would give us more of a reason to communicate. I wasn't entirely sure that I was fully prepared to see him because of my awkward teenage self. Lance hadn't done anything wrong; I was just insecure as of who I was at the moment and hoped he fully understood that. I...didn't want to be a freak anymore and wanted to assimilate with others and was not against the idea of finding love.

"I...I think we could manage that," I told him with a small smile, my cheeks feeling hot as I was looking at this hot guy. "If precalculus gets too difficult for you, I could share some information to help you learn the material more efficiently."

"I would like that a lot! Japanese literature is going to be fun; I love how we are able to enjoy traditional literature that has been passed down through time and still finds its way into modern times!" Lance said as he closed his eyes and smiled. "Oh, after school every day of the week, I have swim practice, if you wanna come whenever you feel like it. I try to keep up with my two Dratini and Dragonair but boy, they sure are fast. Haha!"

He...was offering to let me see him swim. I don't know if I was ready to see so much of his skin already, but I kept this information in my mind in case I got the courage to.

"I...I have to see accordingly to how my plans will be after school, but I like the idea," I agreed to him. I wanted to say "a lot", but I didn't want to make myself look super creepy.

"Take your time, Sabrina," he nodded. "I look forward to seeing your interpretations of the Japanese texts we will be reading this year."

He left and I was honestly glad. I had to let my face cool a bit and then I saw Erika.

"Sabrina!" she called to me and walked over to me as she was holding one of her books. "How did your first day go?"

"I thought the other classes were quite interesting and that boy, Peter, in my chemistry and calculus class defended me when one girl was persistent on getting me to demonstrate my psychic powers," I explained to her with an odd smile as I thought about Peter.

"That was really noble of him. That's something that I look for in a guy and he's pretty easy on the eyes, too," Erika said with a small smile.

"Also," I began after I nodded at her, "Lance came by and he talked to me. We share the same Japanese literature class and he says that we should consider comparing our interpretations of texts. Also, he's not very good at math and may ask for help."

"I see! Sounds like the two of you are getting along!" chuckled Erika. "Is that why your face is slightly pink? It seems that you were blushing, if I'm not mistaken."

"Yes, I was, because...he offered me the chance to watch him swim. He's on the school swimming team and I told him I would consider it..." My face grew red again and I chuckled awkwardly at the image that was coming to my mind, but quickly shook it off in order to regain my composure and resume talking to my friend.

"Oh, my..." Erika said. "I heard that he was a swimmer, but I never have seen him swim before. He must really have a liking for you already if he's told you he has practice after school so early after meeting him."

"Yes, I suppose that's true," I said as I was still trying to pick up signals. "Well. What do you feel like doing now?" I asked her.

"I'm going to get started on some of my homework and then see if anything needs to get done at the gym," Erika explained. "Do you feel like teleporting me in secrecy?"

"Oh, sure, I can do that," I said to her. I appreciated that she considered how others perceived me when using this special form of transportation. "Let's head behind the school."

As soon as we started walking, I heard a voice. It was Peter's.

"Hey, Sabrina, Erika." We both greeted him. "I wanted to say that I'm really looking forward to this year with you. You were quite impressive in chemistry and calculus today and I have to applaud your intellect."

I read his mind and he had pure thoughts about me so I nodded and said, "Thank you. Being psychic does give enhanced intellect, but it doesn't make us super geniuses by default. I have to put forth some effort in to complete the work and keep up with the studies, too."

"That's so cool, about your psychic abilities!" he praised. "Maybe some study sessions in the library in the future can be arranged, if you want?"

"I think it would be beneficial for us both, since you understood a few things in calculus and chemistry that I don't."

"Great! I was thinking the same."

"I'll tell you when it's convenient for me to study, Peter," I told him with a small smile.

"Okay, I look forward to this school year. Now, I'm going to swim practice. I transferred here from another school, but I was on the swim team there, so I decided to join this one."

So he was on the swim team, too? I couldn't really tell him that I was already offered to go watch, so I decided to not mention that.

"That sounds nice; how good of a swimmer were you?" I asked as I was a bit interested. I had to keep the conversation going so I wouldn't drift off into awkward thoughts.

"I was mid-tier, but I got some new water Pokemon that I hope to train with to help out," Peter told me. "See, I got a Staryu and a Wartortle, so maybe then I could try to race them."

"I'm impressed that you got a Wartortle," I told him genuinely. "Was he not your starter Pokemon?"

"No, I actually traded my Charmeleon for Wartortle a few days ago. It seemed that we were growing incompatible, and someone else wanted a Charmeleon, and they got along on the spot!" he explained with a bit of remorse in his voice that he first got rid of his Pokemon, but seemed glad to get a new one he loved.

"There is no sense to have a Pokemon anymore if there isn't mutual trust and love," I agreed. I did love my Kadabra and wanted him to grow and do his best.

"Totally agree. Now, I gotta get going. You two ladies have a nice day!" And with that, he was gone. I was glad he left at this particular moment because I did not want Erika to be late getting to the gym. We found a spot behind the gym and I teleported her to the Celadon City Gym. We were inside a back room of the gym where nobody could see us and Erika said,

"Thank you for bringing me here so quickly, Sabrina. I find it very nice that you offer to do this."

"It's no problem, really. I just have to imagine a place in my mind and focus my powers and I get there almost instantaneously," I admitted with a smile growing on my face. "I need to get home myself and get started on my reading exercises. You take care."

We both waved to one another and I was off. I went into my room and put my backpack on my bed and starting going through my things I needed for the next day at school. I was looking forward to reading and I continued reading until I heard my mother come in.

"Hello, mother, it's good to see you again!" I said kindly to her as I was genuinely glad to see her.

"Hey, it's my little girl!" she said as she patted my head. "How did your first day at school go?"

I had a blush on my face when I thought about Peter and Lance, and my mother had to know I was thinking of something along the lines of boys or something.

"I like my classes fairly well and I look forward to Japanese Literature, calculus and chemistry because...two different cute boys wanted me to be their study partners. Or rather, just offered it to me."

"Is that why you were blushing?" asked Mom. I nodded. "Awww, that's really sweet of them, dear. Who knows what will become of them?"

"I just want to keep them at a reasonable distance first, but I'm slowly becoming more accepting of them," I explained. "One of them, whose name is Lance, was actually at Indigo Plateau the other day, and he has ambitions of becoming the champion."

"That's quite a tall order for him, but who knows? He very well may be one day," Mother responded with a smile on her face. "What about the other boy?"

"His name's Peter and he's transferred here from a different school. Both boys are on the swim team and Lance has made it clear that I'm welcome to watch. I think I want to get to know him more first, before going to see him swim."

"You do what you feel is best for you," mother said. "You're more than capable of taking care of yourself, so I don't have to worry about you."

"I hope I know what is best for me," I told her. "But yes, I will very much be on my guard."

"That's the best thing that we women can do," Mother explained. "Now, I'm gonna make us a stew. Care to help?"

"Sure thing," I said with a small nod. We both got up and headed for the kitchen. "Erika and I share no classes, but we have the same lunch period. I'm quite grateful to have her in my life. I don't know if she feels the same of me, but I consider her my best friend."

"You should show your appreciation to her someday," mother said to me with a smile on her face. "You seem even happier after you've gotten to know her and it's great that you have a gal pal. Maybe with time, you'll find more friends."

"Maybe so," I said as I began to peel a carrot with my actual hands as opposed to telekinesis. The rest of the evening went fine and I was eager to see how this year unfolded.

I seriously have NO idea how old Lance is supposed to be. In the original series, he looks about 15 to 18, and looks about 30 in Journeys. Lance and Sabrina ship because yes lol :)

Additionally, the school is a hybrid of both USA and Japanese high schools, largely more of the former since that's where I'm from and most familiar with. Also, Sabrina's Personality will become a lot more like that of Electric Tale of Pikachu where she was quite empathetic and kind; she's just in her transition phase and her callous side is starting to burn out and be replaced with her child personality who was indeed quite kind (at least what I think lol)
