Episode 26: Cliffside Talk
The Monk and Jack were surprised to see Chase. Well, not that surprised because of Hannibal spilling the beans already, but still surprised. They get into battle position, sans Jack, when Chase raise his palm up. "Ah, ah, I'm not here to fight, I'm only here to talk…specifically to Jack." Chase said. "Well, tough, Jack is on our side and will be for the foreseeable future." Raimundo said. Chase just chuckle. "Oh, I'm only here to talk to him, not drag him back to the Heylin kicking and screaming." Chase said. "Just let me talk to him and I'll let him tell you Monks what I said." This made the Monks ease up a bit. This was a bit unorthodox for Chase to be like this. "Well, okay, but no funny business." Raimundo said. Chase nods as he sits down, the monks backs off and hide behind a bush.
Jack looks at Chase with a glare. "What do you want?" Jack said. "Well, you think I wanted you to return to the Heylin, but that's not the case. I'm here because I want to check up on you." Chase said. Jack raised an eyebrow. "Check up...on me? Why? Why would you do that? You know the risk of doing this, right?" Jack said. "I know, but consider this…if it wasn't for me, our future would be uncertain." Chase said. "Why do you say that? Wait…let me guess, you still got…" Jack said before drifting off a bit. "Yes, I still hold the Crystal Glasses. Before you ask, I will inform you a bit of the future in a little bit." Chase said. Jack ponders a bit. "What is your true plan, Chase?" Jack asked. "Again, I'll give a bit of it but not all of it until the time is right. When it happens, everything will come together and will make sense." Chase said.
Jack was a little miffed that was going to be the case but Chase was planning something that Jack has little knowledge on. "Okay, so, what is this plan you have up your sleeve?" Jack said. "Well, truth be told, if it wasn't for the Crystal Glasses, the plan would not be currently rolling in action. I wanted the Glasses to make sure not only my future looks secure but also a bit of your future." Chase said. "There were a lot of possibilities that could've left us in a dark place. However, I founded a few where it could benefit both of us and I chose a particular one that could really benefit both of us. This reality could allow both of us to live out our lives with minimal issues." Jack was a bit surprised to hear that. "So, wait, if this works, what does this mean for the Heylin? What does it mean for the Crystal Monks? What does it mean for the whole situation?" Jack asked. "Well, as much as I want to inform you, I need to keep it a secret until the time is right for the explanation for yours, mine's, and other people's safety." Chase said.
This really caught Jack off-guard. Chase have some trick up his sleeve that could benefit him but also some other people. It could be the Heylin though at this time but maybe there's a chance Chase could be talking about Peridot. This made Jack really curious. "Really?" Jack said with a curious tone. "So, why do you still care for me, even if I am now allied with the Monks and Gems?" "Well, it's because you are my ace in the hole. Not to bring down the Monks, but to truly elevate them to another level, forcing us Heylin to improve and try to elevate ourselves. We are in a cycle, Jack, but you are going to break it within a year. Soon, Things will shake up, especially on the Gems side. Keep close tabs on it and surely, you'll see what I saw." Chase said. Jack thinks a bit and nods. "Okay, If it means trusting you…Then I'll try." Jack said. "Excellent. Oh, and did you watch that DVD?" Chase said. "Let me guess, Crystal Glasses?" Jack quips. Chase chuckles. "Come on, tell the truth." he said. "Okay, yes, I had to ask the Monks to leave me alone so I could watch it myself." Jack said. "Excellent. You can tell the Monks as soon as you can." Chase said. Jack nods.
Chase stands up. "With all that said, I think it's best for me to return back. I'll say that it was a failure and Hannibal is likely going to agree with it, considering you and Hannibal had encountered each other just a few moments ago." Chase said. "Yea…" Jack said. "How are you and Peridot going?" Chase asked. "Did you ask her our for a date?" Jack blushes from that idea. "N-no, we're just friend right now." Jack said. "Besides, I have Funland to work with at this time." "Ah, so you invested into Funland? That's something at least." Chase said. "However, our time is running short. It's best for me to head back now." "Alright, Chase. Just no funny business." Jack said. Chase nods as he walks away and Jack looks out, looking over the Cliffside after having that talk.
The monks got out of the bush as they walk up to Jack. "So, we overheard what you and Chase talked about." Raimundo admits. "I know, Rai." Jack said. "I still don't know how to feel about this." "Well, whatever it is, Chase has something cooked up that could benefit you and him… which is odd considering he's a Heylin and you just became an ally with us." Kimiko said. "Yea, it's almost like he's regretting on being a Heylin." Clay suggested. "I personally doubt it but if that's the case, it would make an interesting twist." Jack said. "It would be most interesting to see Chase start his own redemption path." Omi added. Jack nods. He began to stand up and walks over to the Monks.
"I want to say that even if things look dire for you guys, I won't back down and will keep working with you guys as much as I can." Jack said. The monks nods and all 5 of them hugs. Little did they know that Peridot was watching from afar. She overheard Chase asking if Jack and Peridot have gone to a date. It made her blush a bit as well and she wouldn't mind having some time together with Jack. Peridot began to head back as the Monks and Jack head back to Beach City. While Steven and the Gems would have their similar issue in space, down on earth, it was quiet and I think that was appropriate since Jasper has been defeated. Now the question becomes...what is Chase planning?
