Hello again. I' m still here, writing fanfics for Victoria to finally find out who her masked man is. I started writing this story in summer, and it was very hot, so I'm afraid it influenced my story. Maybe it won't come amiss for the long winter nights.

Chapter 1. Stolen moments.

Finally the last customers were out the door and Victoria finished picking up the table while Pilar also headed that way to sweep that area.

Pilar sighed and ran her hand over her forehead. "I can't believe how hot it is."

"It's been a while since I put out the fire and the kitchen still feels like an oven. And upstairs I'm afraid it's going to be hot too, with the sun beating down on the roof all day, I'm tempted to go sleep in the cellar." said Victoria.

"Well, maybe that's a good idea," nodded Pilar.

Victoria went back to the kitchen, Pilar went over to put the broom down and say goodbye. She went out the back door because the front door was already closed, and Victoria closed behind her.

Tired of working, and a little more discouraged than usual, she went to her room. There she found a surprise, there was a flower on her pillow. As she approached, her mysterious masked man stepped out from behind the door.

"I just wanted to wish you goodnight, my dear." he whispered.

She turned to hug him. "Don't go." she said pulling away a little so she could look into his eyes.

He leaned in to kiss her, but this time she didn't want to settle for just a kiss, she nuzzled his neck, then decided to kiss him just below the ear, noticing that he shivered. Encouraged by his reaction she continued kissing him more intensely at that same spot.

She pressed herself against him, her breathing quickening, and sighed when he wrapped his hands around her waist. He decided to do the same thing she had done before and kiss her neck, she was hugging his shoulders, and when he bit her gently she startled and made a sudden movement, noticing that she had scratched him a little above his collarbone. He pulled away and look at her quizzically.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scratch you, I think I have a broken nail." she said somewhat stifled.

"It's my fault, we shouldn't have gone that far. It's getting harder and harder to resist and not do something I shouldn't."

"Why not Zorro? We've been waiting for so long. If it weren't for the alcalde and the soldiers we'd have been married long ago, isn't there another solution?"

"I wonder about that too, but at the moment I don't see any way to marry you and not end up on the gallows."

"Stay with me. Let's forget the alcalde, the soldiers, everyone else. I don't want to wait any longer." she said pleadingly.

"I can't do that to you. I've hurt you too much already, and I can't do something we could be sorry or ashamed of tomorrow. When I make love to you I want to be able to spend the night with you without fear of being surprised." he said caressing her face. "I want you to be my wife."

She nodded, closing her eyes from which tears fell.

"You must think I'm..."

He interrupted her from finishing the sentence. "You're a wonderful, flesh and blood woman who has wants and needs. That doesn't make you evil. If desire is evil, then I'm just as guilty as you are...or maybe more."

She tried to smile, but her sadness showed.

"I shouldn't have come." he said seeing her expression.

"That would be even worse, we wouldn't even have these stolen moments." she said shaking her head.

"I must go. Goodnight." he said kissing her hand before walking out the window.
