My Lass
My lass never seemed without hope
Behind her frown she hid
While her heart cried
But one day, I saw her
And she was broken
Walking in the gardens, I did not expect to find her
On her knees, pride gone
Spirit so broken
And tears upon her cheeks
I forced her to tell me
But all she said was: He's gone.
Then I remembered our eldest son
Killed in battle on Midwinter's eve
She still wore black
Still vowed for revenge
Cursed the gods
And herself for his actions
My days are quiet without her here
The nights are lonely without her here
She was my sunlight, so bright
She was my moon, so soft
Face hiding fear
Strength hiding weakness
Spirit hiding mortality
My lass died with all those things
And took me along.
Champion
Lioness
My lass, Alanna
Rest in peace.
