One Last Chance

Summary: It could be their last moment together…and Ed decided to take charge. He had enough of dodging Cupid's arrow.

She knew this could be their last moment. Ed and Al were going off to save their world from total destruction…and all Winry could do was watch. She showed him the case with the auto-mail and immediately began to attach it. It took quite awhile, but soon he was fully equipped with the limbs he needed.

"Winry…" he looked at her sadly as she tried desperately to hold back tears, "Can I…er…"

She rushed over to hug him again, tears flowing freely once more. He gently pulled her arms from around his stomach and put them on his shoulders, "Edward…there is so much I want to say to you, so much I can't tell you…and yet…"

"Winry." He stopped her, putting a finger on her lips. He was blushing madly, and she had no idea why. Ed took her chin in his hand and connected his lips with hers. Winry was sure she was dreaming. This is…Edward. Kissing her. He broke off and looked away.

"Edward…?"

"In the Gate, Winry, I saw what some people could call the future. I saw…I saw me and you. We…we had a child…and we were married and happy. I don't want to leave you, Win. I really don't. And I realize this isn't really formal but…" he clapped his hands together and made a small ring of stone, "Would you please…join me when we cross the Gate?"

Winry blinked twice and stared, "Are...are you asking me to marry you?"

"W-well, I-I guess so…" Ed's face was deeply flushed and he was looking to the side so she wouldn't see.

Winry contemplated what he had said. When it clicked, her heart rose in her chest and she threw her arms around his neck, "Yes, Ed, of course, oh God, yes!" she sobbed into his shoulder.

The smile on Ed's face was so tranquil and calm, Scieska and Al could hardly believe it was him. Al wiped a stray tear from his eye and gave a soft smile.

"Good for you nii-san…"

FAMOUS SCIENTIST EDWARD ELRIC IS WED

Sorry, ladies, but as of yesterday, December 13th 1923 in the heart of Munich, aeronautic scientist Edward Elric wed a young woman by the name of Winry Rockbell. They already have a child and are currently on honeymoon in Paris. We wish them the best of luck!
