The Morning After
The Next Day, Danny had woken up bright and early. The ghostly boy got up, showered, got dressed and soon went to join his family for breakfast.
However, he had a large smile on his face and a spring in his step as he walked, which his parents noticed.
"Morning." Danny said, taking his seat.
"Morning, Danny. You sure seem upbeat today..." Maddie said as she served breakfast.
"Why not? The sun's out, no ghosts causing trouble, no Dash, and a tasty omelet." Danny said as he ate away.
Both of his parents couldn't help but smile at his sudden brighter attitude.
"A spring in his step and a smile that reaches his soul. Either our boy is in love or he's been possessed by a cheerful ghost..." Jack suggested.
"I'm going with the former..." Maddie said, giggling a bit.
"Oh… you could say that." Danny said.
He couldn't exactly introduce them to Hsien-ko, seeing as how they met would be hard to explain. Still, he's sure they'd at least like her human form. Plus, he fights ghosts, she fights everything else supernatural, they'd be ideal together.
"You haven't seen Sam in days. Is this an epiphany?" Maddie suggested.
Her son, however, looked at her strangely.
"She's just a friend..." Danny explained, shooting that theory down.
His parents seemed lost at that.
"Huh?" They went in unison.
"It's someone I met yesterday." He explained.
"It's not Sam? Then who could it be?" She wondered since she didn't know any other girl who would associate with her son, much less be friends with him.
Jack, on the other hand, didn't mind.
Well, I had figured it would be her… but at least I don't have to worry about the Mansons being potential in-laws… He thought.
"Can you tell us about her?" Maddie asks.
"Just that I think she and I have more in common than we thought." Danny asks.
"Oh, you share something? Like a hobby?" Maddie asks.
Danny laughed as he took another bite out of his omelet.
"Yeah... a very unique hobby." He said, looking away with a knowing smile.
Maddie was just sitting there, lost on what he meant.
"What? Like... collecting Japanese robot toys?" She asked.
"Maddie... come now... Danny found someone who seems to really get him. We should be happy for him, even if it's something very childish of them." Jack said as he continued eating his pancakes.
"Says the one who still pays with dolls of himself and ghosts..." Maddie remarked.
"First off, they're not dolls, they're action figures. Second, I don't play with them... I act out situations I'd like to have sometime against ghosts causing trouble for our fair city." Jack defends while holding up his action figure of himself.
"Jack. You just described what playing with those things is." Maddie stated.
"Well… thank you. I better go…" Danny said after finishing his breakfast.
He soon left, leaving his folks alone to deal with this new development.
"I guess the Fenton charm struck again..." Jack said with a grin.
"I suppose it did, I just wish I knew this girl." Maddie said, looking unsure.
"Speaking of, you hear the rumors of what people saw last night?" Jack asks.
"What?" Maddie asked.
"Danny Phantom was seen with some blue zombie girl in Chinese robes… carrying her around town." Jack said.
"So… even he's got a girl in his afterlife? Huh… you'd think everyone named Danny is meeting someone." Maddie thought out loud.
"I'll have to find photos of this girl... so I can make an action figure of her to pair with my figure of Danny Phantom so that we can have our figures fight them!" Jack said happily.
"And you wonder why I never invite my relatives to Thanksgiving..." Maddie muttered.
Meanwhile
Danny had stopped by Mr. Smithy's flower shop and picked up a bouquet of various flowers for Hsien-Ko.
He also stopped by the grocery store and picked up some chocolates as well.
He wanted to surprise Hsien-Ko with them before she had to leave.
I hope that she likes milk chocolate with almonds… He thought as he arrived at her hotel.
"Made it… Now, to see her off." He said, excited to see her one last time.
He flew around invisibly, hoping to see her.
He went through the first floor, then the second floor. He realizes she never mentioned what room she had, so he'll be looking for her for a while.
Where is she? He thought eagerly.
Just the thought of seeing her once more, maybe grab a quick breakfast, made him unwilling to stop until he found her.
He saw a maid and a bellhop walking outside a room on the 3rd floor and he remained invisible, but he overheard their conversation.
"Who took this room?" The maid asked.
"Two Chinese girls… one of 'em wearing some pink hat thing." The bellhop said.
Danny perked up hearing that, realizing they're talking about Hsien-ko, the girl he's become very smitten with.
She was using this room? Maybe she's not that far gone? He thought excitedly.
"Where are they?" She asks.
"I think they checked out at 4 in the morning." He responded.
Upon hearing that, Danny's smile dropped.
"She's gone?" He asked himself, feeling his heart break.
He flew away from the room, landed in an alley, and changed back to his human form, looking depressed.
The cute jiangshi and her sister were already gone, meaning he had no need to be here. In fact, he didn't need to have come at all.
Just when I finally meet someone like me… He thought, disappointed that his latest crush was already gone.
The flowers and chocolates were discarded as the ghost boy left in defeat and his head down in a depressed state.
Later
The heartbroken ghost boy had taken a flight and was now at the top of the highest building in Amity Park, which coincidentally, was close by to the ramen shop where he and Hsien-Ko had their date.
He was sulking, still bummed that he met such an awesome girl and she was already out of his reach.
You'd think Vlad took over the world or something by now and I wouldn't even notice… He thought, sad and bitter.
He looked at the ramen shop and thought of that last minute date he had with her last night.
How pretty she was. How fun she was. How he quickly felt comfortable. How, despite that he was younger, she was very much as interested in him as he was in her.
He couldn't help but find her almost like she was made just for him. A teenager with a secret ability to turn into a paranormal being and fight other sorts of monsters to protect people. But now, she has gone back to her home in China.
"Not like I can just fly there…" He muttered bitterly.
That's when he got a ping, indicating that he received some text messages.
He saw that they were from Sam and Tucker. He chose to read them outloud
"Hate it here… so bright… so cheerful that I literally feel sick… and they insist I enjoy the sights…" He said, laughing after reading Sam's text. "It's a nightmare! I can't go online, use my PDA or use any of the special features on my phone...all I can do is JUST text, and I can't even use the cool emojis! What am I? A caveman?!" He said, laughing, feeling slightly better.
It was then he noticed something.
How about you, Danny? Sam sent.
Unsure how to break his learning about a race called the Darkstalkers and how he practically became a couple with a girl who turns into a Chinese Hopping vampire, he decided not to share that yet.
"Made some friends… but their tourists that just headed home..." Danny said out loud as he texted, being vague.
He decided to tell them about his latest adventure when they come back, since he didn't want to get into it now.
Hsien-ko… what a girl… He thought.
However, that is when he got a notification for an email on his phone.
He checked it and once he did, he smiled.
It was an email from Hsien-Ko.
"Dear Danny, we had to leave pretty early. Some cactus creature was spotted and… well, kind of a long story. Not sure if it's a Darkstalker, but I doubt I'd go out with it like I did with you. Anyway… In any case, I'll try to respond to your emails if you ever feel like sending one. Mei-Ling and I will be busy but I hope someday we can see each other again. Maybe as friends… or maybe more if you're up to it? Anyway… take care." It read, with a winky smiley emoji following.
Seeing that managed to put a smile on the ghost boy's face, and lift his spirits quite a bit.
"Or more? That means… she wants to see me again." He said to himself as he felt his heart beat faster as he hovered up and flew in a circle repeatedly before he started flying in the shape of a heart. "She wants to see me again!" He said happily.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world
Hsien-ko smiled at her phone as she put it back.
"Hope he gets it soon…" She said to herself as Mei-Ling smirked at her.
"I knew it... you're completely in love." She said.
Hsien-ko turned red before rolling her eyes.
"We just met..." The youngest twin pointed out.
"And yet he's all you've been talking about. You were even upset we couldn't wait and leave since you wanted to see him again." Mei-Ling pointed out.
"Well... I won't deny that he's... not the worst choice for a boyfriend... unlike Raptor." Hsien-ko admits.
"See? Already you admit he'd be awesome for a boyfriend. Soon as we're of legal age, we can move to the West so you two can settle down and raise human/ghost/Darkstalker hybrid babies to fight evil together." Mei-Ling joked.
"Well... if that's what you like to think, so be it." Hsien-ko said with her arms crossed.
"Hmm... they might be cute, considering you think Danny's cute." Mei-Ling remarked.
"Well... I do happen to find him cute so... mockery denied." Hsien-ko stated.
"Well… before we take care of… Amingo, I think? … just to make sure. You don't want to go out with it?" Mei-Ling asks.
"Oh, shut up…" Hsien-ko grumbled.
"Right… him repeating his name like a Pokemon would get old…" Mei-Ling said as the two girls transformed. "Still, give Danny some competition. Or, you could get competition for him."
"Just shut up and turn into a piece of paper already…" Hsien-ko complained.
Mei-Ling chuckled as she transformed into the talisman. Once attached, Hsien-ko readied to take care of the cactus creature on top of the house, who is just dancing while playing maracas.
At least he's harmless… though not a fan of his music. Mei-Ling said in her sister's mind.
"Right… the sooner we finish this… the sooner I see if Danny responds to me!" Hsien-ko said as they went to take care of their problem.
Final chapter with thanks to Flower princess11.
I may do a second story, leaning towards BB Hood making an appearance.
A few things I should bring up, namely other Capcom references.
Ono was named at Yoshinori Ono, Capcom's former head of their fighting game department who championed the idea of a Darkstalkers revival, but it never went anywhere due to Capcom being upset Darkstalkers Resurrection, a port of the second and third games, didn't sell as well as they hoped... despite that it was the 7th best selling game that month.
Amingo is a cactus man who was a fighter in Marvel vs Capcom 2. He was one of the only original characters of that game because the game he was created for was cancelled. It's rumored, but unconfirmed, that he was going to be a new Darkstalker. So, I decided to use him here.
I might do more Capcom references next time.
RonaldM40196867: Okay. Maybe, but when else are they gonna see each other? Most likely the next one. No, and it was Amingo from MVC2. Because TheWhiteTitan suggested it.
Jebest4781: Thanks.
Invader Johnny: Nope.
doctor3027: Glad you liked it, hope you'll like the rest.
SoundVenom: Hopefully they'll meet again.
SuperiorBatman1: Not sure on Liz, never saw that anime, and Chloe is an irredeemable brat.
