Chapter 1: The Backstory.
Izuku 'Deku' Midoriya is a young boy, no older than 4 when introduced in our story. Midoriya is a generally nice boy, and does not resort to violence unless absolute necessary, not that he could ever fight back when he tried. When Midoriya was bullied or when he tried to protect someone who was, he had always been overwhelmed with numbers. But, that's not to say Izuku Midoriya isn't a strong child, no. In fact, he is quite the opposite. Midoriya is quite strong for his age, with reflexes and speed to match. He has high stamina and incredible durability coupled with nigh impossible pain tolerance that makes him a force to be reckoned with. But, Izuku Midoriya is a kind soul and does not like to fight, therefor having little to no experience to protect himself with. Nor does he know any style of fighting. In short, Midoriya has nigh limitless potential that is wasted effortlessly.
Back to the bully part. Midoriya, per say, is quirkless. Quirk's are abilities that had started to pop up a century or two ago, and make up eighty-percent of the worlds population. However, the other twenty-percent are those without quirks, and are deemed to nigh miserable lives. Those with amazing quirks gain fame and popularity, while those with not-so impressive or none gain almost nothing, and have to live 'boring' lives. Some, however, resort to being criminals, vigilantes, or even villains. While most don't make it with these life-styles, some are stronger than others, placing them higher in the 'food chain' of the world. Oh, right. Sorry, there's a story. I should probably get to it, huh?
"K-Kacchan... S.. Stop!" Midoriya yelled out, attempting to redirect an explosion thrown at his stomach. Key word: attempted. "Oh? And what are you going to do about it if I don't, Deku?" Katsuki Bakugo asked, though it didn't seem like much of a question, sending Midoriya flying back with one of his stronger explosions.
However, before Midoriya could hit the ground painfully, he was caught gently by an older fellow, wearing a red coat hanging off his shoulders, a plain pink un-buttoned shirt, yellow pants, and a golden sash around his waist accompanied with a sword tucked neatly into it. He wore a seemingly expensive necklace and a ring or two. His most notable feature, however, was his lean yet incredibly muscular boy with his stylish mustache. The man was grinning crazily, setting Midoriya down and brushing any dirt or dust off of him.
"Ya' okay, kiddo?" The man chirped cheerfully, surprising Midoriya. "Y-Yeah..! Thank you, mister..?" The man heard the unasked question, and answered loudly. "My name.. Is Gol D. Roger! Former king of the pirates!" He announced, seemingly to the entire world. It all fell silent.
Midoriya had bright stars in his eyes as he watched the man get up to his full height of 9". Midoriya heard boisterous laughter from behind him, turning to see all of the bullies laughing loudly. "Hey, stop laughing at him, Kacchan!" Izuku pleaded, but it fell on mostly deaf ears, but one retorted. "Oh, what are you going to do about it, Deku?" Katsuki said back, silencing his buddies as they prepared to rush them. "I-I'll.. I will fight you!"
The man next to Midoriya laughed loudly, before stopping. His grin nearly reached his ears. "Don't worry 'bout me, kid! I can handle myself!" A mischievous glint appeared in his eyes as the children rushed forward. The man still had his grin, but it seemed more serious now as he stepped forward, preparing one singular finger to face the kids. As the kids grew near, Roger poked them all in the foreheads, somehow rendering them unconscious instantly.
"Woah.." Midoriya was amazed, watching the man turn back towards him. "You.. Are a worthy soul." Roger's grin lessened to a light smile, and his eyes became soft. "You are the one.. To inherit my will, boy!" Roger exclaimed loudly. "Inherit... Your will?" Midoriya asked quietly. Roger nodded, "That's right. Only a kind, yet protective soul will be worthy to hold the power I shall give them. You, my young boy are a worthy candidate.. But, there is a test." Midoriya looked like he was ready to ask a question, but was stopped. "Don't pass out."
An overwhelming force, pressuring him to bow down to Roger. His vision clouded, and he stumbled back, seemingly about to fall.. But he stood, facing the wave of power head-on. He remembered his dream, one that he shall never give up on.. 'I will become a hero!' He screamed in his mind, unconsciously releasing his own will to battle Roger's, but it barely made a dent. But, The wave suddenly stopped and Midoriya stumbled forward. He felt weak.
"You passed, boy. You are worthy." The last thing Midoriya saw before falling into a blissful sleep, was three people standing around him, talking.
Midoriya woke with a start, jumping up. He was on a soft, comfortable bed. Looking around him, he saw he was in a Room. He observed silently, like he had always done while in a new place. The room around him was blank besides from a table next to him and a dresser at the opposite wall, and a closet that was closed.
"Gurararara!" A menacing laugh was heard outside of the room. Getting up, he noted he was in his underwear. He searched the dresser for some clothes, finding a plain white shirt and some red shorts that he put on, not finding any socks or shoes.
Approaching the door, he became fearless, a burst of confidence and bravery surging within him as he swung the door open, only to find himself in a beautiful place. Plains as far as the eye can see, with two or three sakura trees every 100 or so feet apart. Off to the side, there was a large concrete circle that had weapons and what looked to be a library on the opposite of the circle.
"So, the kid's awake, huh?" A large man said, sitting next to Roger. Midoriya was amazed, for the man had to be at least 20 feet tall! "How ya' feelin, Mido?" Roger chirped happily, chugging a bottle of sake casually. "I'm.. Fine?" Midoriya questioned himself. He felt weightless, and felt incredibly calm. Nodding, he continued. "I feel good."
"That's normal for those who have unleashed their Conqueror's Spirit, otherwise known as Haoshoku Haki. You have unleashed your spirit on the world, and mind you, it's quite powerful!" He grinned crazily. The large man next to him simply listened, his curly golden hair reaching his shoulders, probably lower.
"Ha.. Ki?" Midoriya questioned further, suddenly taking out a notebook, labeled it Haki, and opened to the first page. "Elaborate on it please!" Midoriya exclaimed, sitting down as Gol D. Roger spent nearly two hours chatting with both the large man and 'Mido' as he had nicknamed Midoriya.
"So, Midoriya, I had originally planned on simply training you after you unleashed your Conqueror's Spirit, but I will leave it to you. Do you accept our training, Izuku Midoriya, to become your strongest self?" Roger exclaimed loudly.
There was a moment of silence as Midoriya thought over it, looking through his new notes while he did so. He looked up, slamming his book and pencil to the ground before standing. "I accept your offer, Gol D. Roger!" He said with all the confidence and bravery he could conjure from his very soul.
