Chapter 16
Erik laid Christine's limp body down on the silk sheets of the swan bed and pulled a blanket over top of her. He had removed her clothes and dressed her in a night gown and dressed himself in flannel pant. Erik crawled underneath the blanket and put his arms around Christine. His beautiful angel had almost been raped tonight by that wretched boy and he was livid with revenge, but seeing Christine sleeping next him melted away the anger he felt and replaced it with love. He gently reached his hand underneath her gown and placed his hand over her stomach. She was beginning to fill out, their baby was growing. This sent a wave of emotion over Erik, as he buried his face in Christine's hair he didn't realize that she had opened her eyes.
She lay there confused and sore, unable to remember what had happened or where she was.
Slowly she turned to see Erik crying in her hair with his hand on her abdomen.
"Erik? What happened?"
Surprised to hear her voice he jumped back and looked down at her laying their with a dazed look in her eyes. "Christine, oh my love! Are you alright? Oh angel please say you are alright!" He kissed her passionately, but gently.
"I'm just sore and lightly dizzy. Erik I thought I was going with Raoul for dinner tonight? When did we get off of the ship?"
Erik's anger began to rise again at the thought of Raoul. "Christine you did go to that bastard house and he tried to rape you. I caught him and threw him off of you before he could."
Christine's jaw dropped as memories from that night came rushing back to her. She remembered Raoul screaming and then knocking her to the floor. She remembered him kissing her and touching her and trying to undress her. Christine shivered violently and Erik wrapped his arms around her tightly.
"How could he...?" Christine's voice trailed off as she tried to comprehend the events of the night. Her hands instinctively went to her abdomen at the thought of Raoul trying to posses her body. Erik rested his hand over her's and gave a heavy sigh.
"Christine I will not let his or anyone for that matter ever hurt you again. I should have never let you go, especially not in your condition." He said and kissed the top of her head.
"It isn't your fault my love, it is only his. I am safe and so is our child and that is all that matters." Her lips found his and gently kissed them. Erik took her face into both of his hands deepening the kiss. Her heart began to beat faster while Erik left her lips to caress her neck and shoulders. Christine flinched at him kissing her lower neck, because Raoul had left quiet a bruise.
"I am going to kill him!" Erik nearly screamed out of a fit of rage. Quickly Christine went to work on calming him down.
"Shh my angel! Do not do anything rash, but instead do to me what he cannot. Touch me in the way he so desperately wanted to, but was denied. Make love to me like he never will." She began kissing him again and this time he did not protest, but instead took over. He carefully leaned her back against the pillows of the bed. Christine threw her arms around his neck not wanting to be separated from him causing Erik to have to shift his weight as to not hurt her of the baby...the baby.
"Is it alright to be doing this Christine? I mean will the child be okay?" He looked down at her stomach with much worry in his eyes, because as badly as he wanted Christine he would not jeopardize the child's safety.
"We'll be fine. Oh Erik you are going to be such a wonderful father! I love you so much!" She smiled at him and then kissed him again.
Christine woke up the next morning very stiff, sore and nauseous. She rubbed her stomach trying to sooth her nausea, but soon she was doubled over throwing up. Erik shot up and looked at Christine hoovering over the edge of the bed. He held her so she wouldn't fall over until she was finished.
"I'm sorry Erik I didn't mean to get sick in bed." Christine sniffled against him.
"It's alright my love, don't worry about it. It is my fault you are sick every morning." He was delighted when she smiled up at him. He loved it when she smiled.
"Hopefully this will stop soon!" she said as she laid back down. Erik had began cleaning the floor. He became lost in thought as he scrubbed the stone floor. "This is not place for Christine let alone a child." This thought had been plaguing him for the passed few weeks, but now he knew he must upon it.
"I must leave you for a little while my love. Just stay in bed and I'll get you some water."
"Where are you going?" She hated to be left alone in his lair.
"I will tell you when I return. I love you Christine." Erik said as he leaned down and kissed her forehead.
"I love you too," she said with a hint of suspicion in her voice.
