Misty and Brock are already ready to continue traveling with Ash to the Fuchsia Gym, "So, everything good?"

"Yeah. But where's Ash?"

They saw Ash, Eevee, and Pikachu come out of the Pokémon Center Ash was exhausted, "S-Sorry, I'm late."

They sighed, "Did you oversleep again?"

"I didn't, and for a good reason." They listen to the reason, "I was talking to my mom this morning."

"I see. Did something happen?" Misty asked.

"Nothing much. We've only talk about my adventures and the festival here." Misty nodded at Ash's explanation.

After explaining, Ash notices Misty was still wearing the hairpin he gave at the festival, "Why are you still wearing that?"

Misty was confused, "Wearing what?" Ash pointed to it, and she saw the hairpin, "O-Oh, I-I gr-row attached t-to it. So, I don't wa-want to remove it." They see her face blushing.

"Are you all right? Your face is turning red." Ash asked.

"I-I'm fine! Let's go already!" She quickly moves to hide her embarrassment.

"Wait, you don't know where it is!"

Ash tried catching up with her, "Guys, wait up!" And he tried to catch up too.

Kanto, Route 15

07.26 AM

"Are you sure we're going the right way?" Ash asked.

"I'm sure. It says the gym hidden in this route." They saw the route they're on is a forest.

"Make sense. The person we met in the city is a ninja."

"True."

They followed the path to the gym on the map and saw the gym in front of them, "We're here."

Kanto, Fuchsia Gym

07.29 AM

They walked past the gate and saw nobody there, "It's quiet in here."

"Too quiet." Suddenly a smoke appeared, and a shadow surprised them.

"Aaaaah." The smoke clears, revealing a purple hair girl wearing a ninja outfit and a red scarf.

"Hehehe, gotcha!"

Ash was confused, "Who are you?"

She smiled, "I'm Janine, the daughter of Koga."

"You're the gym leader's daughter?"

She nodded, "And I'm guessing you're Ash Ketchum?"

"Yeah. I guess Koga told you about the battle, huh?"

"Of course. After all, I wanted to see how good your battle is."

Ash asked Janine about the battle, "So, are there rules?"

"Yup, you must head into the gym and fight me before my father."

"Sounds easy enough."

"There also hidden traps that aren't in plain sight." Pikachu facepalmed, "Well, then. You're ready?"

Ash smiled, "Yeah."

"All right, let the challenge begin!" She threw her smoke bomb, covering her escape.

Ash opens the door to see the hallway is standard. "All right, I'll go first then."

"Good luck." Ash removes his shoes before entering without Brock and Misty. Pikachu and Eevee looked around, finding anything suspicious, "This is hard."

As he walked, he then felt something under his feet. He looked down and saw he stepped on a pressured plate, "Pika."

They looked behind and saw arrows coming at them, "Yaaaah!" They quickly dodge the arrows while moving forward.

They got away from it but were tired from running, "You all right, guys?"

"Pika!" "Evui!"

Ash smiled at the response. He touched a wall beside him. It began turning, causing them to move another away.

Ash opened his eyes and saw they were not in the hallway, "Well, it looks like someone came." He saw in front of him a male Pokémon Tamer, "So, I have to challenge you?"

"That's right. The battle is one on one. If you win, you can walk to the other exit of this room."

"And if I lose?" Ash asked.

"You will be sent back where you came in." He nodded, "All right, let's do this." The tamer and Ash pulled out their Pokéballs, "Go!"

Ash sent out Pinsir while the tamer sent out Sandslash.

Ash vs. Pokémon Tamer

"Sandslash, Fury Swipes." Sandslash begins the first move, "Pinsir, Brick Break."

Both of them hit each other, "Brick Break again!"

Pinsir punched away Sandslash, "Headbutt."

Sandslash headbutts Pinsir, "Bind!"

He grabbed Sandslash with his arms, "Sandslash, get out of there!"

Sandslash tried to break free from the bind, but fail to do it. "Brick Break!" Pinsir used Brick Break on Sandslash's head, causing him to faint.

Winner: Ash

Pinsir is happy with his win, "Return, Pinsir." He nodded and returned to his Pokéball.

"You've done a good job. Get a rest." He returns Sandslash to his Pokéball, "Well done. Here's your other exit."

He pushed the wall behind him, revealing another path, "Thank you." Pikachu and Eevee jumped on Ash's shoulder and went to the other exit.

The tamer watches him leaving, 'That boy had some potential.' He smiled for Ash's potential.

They walked around the hallway, looking for any traps or secret paths around them. Ash noticed a sliding door, "Sweet, I think this is where Janine talked about." He began to walk forward but got bumped into something.

"Pika?" Ash saw Pikachu, and Eevee checked on him, "Y-Yeah, I'm fine." He gets back up and touches. He then felt something in front of him, "Could this be an invisible wall?" He sighed, "Well, it looks like I have to go around it."

He then walked the hallway to his left, finding nothing there. "Come on, where is it?" He then touches the wall and tries to find the turned wall. He finds it and enters it.

He finds a juggler in the room, "Hohoho. It looks like you've found it."

Ash smiled, "So, is it going to be a one-on-one match?"

"Nope, it's a two-on-two match." Ash nodded, "Well then, let's begin the fun!"

Ash vs. Pokémon Juggler

"Come, Drowzee!" He sent out his Pokémon, "Who's that Pokémon?"

He took out his Pokédex and scanned it, "Drowzee, the Hypnosis Pokémon." Pokédex said. "If you sleep by it all the time, it will sometimes show you dreams it had eaten in the past." He puts his Pokédex away.

"Evui!" He saw Eevee volunteer for the battle.

"You're sure?" She nodded, "All right. Go, Eevee!"

"Drowzee, Psybeam!" He shoots Psybeam at Eevee.

"Eevee, Thunderbolt!" Both attacks caused a clash that exploded, "Swift!" She jumped and spun, sending the swift at Drowzee.

He blocks it but gets pushed away, "Pound!" "Quick Attack!"

Both Pokémon run at each other and damage. "Slash!" She then slashed Drowzee, surprising the Juggler, "Psybeam!" "How?!"

She shoots it in the face, "Flamethrower!" Then shoots fire, "Drow!"

He got knocked out after being hit. "Well done, get some rest." He returns Drowzee to his Pokéball, "I had to admit. I'm impressed." Ash smiled at the compliment, "But let's see if you can handle this."

He sent out another Pokémon, "That's new." Ash took out his Pokédex and scanned it, "Kadabra, the Psi Pokémon." Pokédex said. "Many odd things happen if this Pokémon is close. For example, it makes clocks run backward."

He looked at Eevee, "Eevee, time to switch." "Evui!" She leaves the battle, "Go, Scyther!" He sent out Scyther for the next fight.

"Let's begin! Confusion!" He shoots a beam at Scyther, "Wing Attack!"

Scyther quickly moves the front and punches Kadabra in the chest, "Psycho Cut." "Slash." Both Pokémon attack each other, causing an explosion to damage them.

"Razor Wind!" He shoots wind at Kadabra, "Teleport!" He quickly teleported away from the wind.

"Be careful, Scyther. He could be anywhere." "Scyth!" He looked around his surrounding, "Confusion!" They saw Kadabra above them, "Slash, full power!" Kadabra managed to hit him, but Scyther powered through and slashed him off the roof.

He fell to the ground and got damaged, "Kadabra!" He tries to get up but doesn't have enough strength and falls to the ground, "We did it, Scyther!"

Winner: Ash

Scyther nodded but felt pain, "Scyther?" Ash saw the pain in his chest, "When this is over, Brock will heal your injuries. All right?" He nodded and returned to his Pokéball.

"Return, partner." He returns Kadabra to his Pokéball, "You won this battle. Here's your other exit." He pushed the wall to his right, opening a path, "Thanks for the battle." They quickly went to the other exit.

They continued walking forward until Ash heard a click, "Guys, did you hear that?" Pikachu noticed something, "Pika!"

They looked down and saw a tripwire that Ash broke, "Oh, great."

The roof opens, revealing Voltrobs that begin exploding. They quickly run away from the explosion, "Pikachu, if one of the Voltorbs comes close to us. Use Iron Tail to smacked it away." Pikachu nodded and looked behind.

Pikachu saw one of the Voltorbs and quickly smacked it away with his Iron Tail. Eevee helped by using her own Iron Tail that she copied from watching Pikachu.

Ash saw one of the Voltorbs in the front, "Look out!" He covers Pikachu and Eevee from the explosion by using his own body. Pikachu and Eevee saw Ash badly hurt, "D-Don't worry. I-I'm fine."

"Evui." Ash smiled, trying to calm Eevee down.

He gets up, still feeling the damage from his back, "Let's continue." Pikachu and Eevee nodded.

Pikachu and Eevee looked at each other, worrying about Ash's health. He then noticed a sliding door that he saw earlier, "Hope this isn't any trick." He reached out his hand to find any invisible wall.

He then felt nothing sort and looked at the door, "Well, we made it." "Pika./Evui." He opens the door by sliding it in the opposite direction, revealing Janine is there.

"Well, you made it. Congrats!" He smiled.

"Are you all right?"

He was surprised to saw Brock, Misty, and Togepi there, "Where did you guys come in?"

"Oh, we went the other way with Janine's help." He looked at Janine for some explanation, "If it's an audience, I had to give them another way in." Janine explained.

Ash sighed, "All right, so what are the rules?"

"The battle will be two on two." Ash nodded.

The referee came for the match, "The Battle between Ash and Janine will begin!"

Ash vs. Janine

"Go, Ariados!" She sent out her Pokémon.

"Ariados?" He took out his Pokédex and scanned, "Ariados, the Long Leg Pokémon and the evolve form of Spinarak." Pokédex said. "A single strand of a special string is endlessly spun out of its rear. The string leads back to its nest." Misty hides behind Brock, seeing the Pokémon resemble a Bug-Type.

Ash took out his Pokéball, "Let's go, Pinsir!" He sent out his Pinsir. "Use Brick Break!" He quickly moves forward, attacking Ariados.

"Sucker Punch!" Both of them hit each other, "Brick Break!" "Pin Missile!" Ariados shoots Pin Missiles at Pinsir, pushing him back.

"Pin Missile, again!" He begins shooting again, "Dig!"

Pinsir digs the floor, dodging the pin missile, "Prepared Ariados!"

"Aria." He looked around for a surprise attack.

The floor below Ariados begins to break, "Brick Break!" Pinsir uppercuts out, flipping Ariados over.

"Ariados!" Ariados get back up on his feet, "Fell Stinger!" Ariados charged at Pinsir with his stinger.

"Grabbed his body with Bind!"

"What?!" Pinsir managed to grab his body after getting hit.

"Now, Brick Break!"

But Pinsir instead spun around Ariados and threw him to the roof, "What was that?" Misty asked.

"That's Submission!"

Ariados dropped to the floor and fainted, "Ariados had fainted! The winner is Pinsir!"

"Well done, Pinsir!" He quickly hugged Ash, but the hug was too much that Ash can handle. "P-Pinsir, calm down."

Janine took out her Pokéball, "Return, Ariados." She returns him to the Pokéball, "Well done, but let's see if you can handle this!" She sent out her Weezing, "A Weezing." Pinsir stood up, "Are you sure?" Pinsir nodded, "All right. Let's continue."

"Weezing, Sludge!" "Brick Break!" Pinsir power through the Sludge that is thrown at him and punches Weezing.

"Brick Break/Assurance!" Both of them charged at each other, pushing away from each other. "Dig!" Pinsir dug through the floor, "Get ready!"

The floor behind him cracked, "Assurance!" Weezing managed to hit Pinsir, "Bide!" He grabbed him, "Submission!" He then rolls while holding Weezing.

They notice Weezing's body glowing, "Weezing!" The explosion came out, blinding them to the battle.

The smoke clears, revealing both Pinsir and Weezing fainted, "Both Pokémons had fainted. While Ash had one more Pokémon still alive, it means he's the winner!"

Winner: Ash

Ash walked toward Pinsir, "You've done a good job. Get some rest."

"Pinsir." He returns Pinsir to his Pokéball.

"Weezing, don't ever do that again. All right?" Weezing nodded, "All right, get some rest." She returned him to the Pokéball, "That was an outstanding battle."

They saw Koga appear, "You watch all of that?"

"Yes, and I watch your progress to this room."

Ash scratched his head, "So, you knew about-"

"Yes, I knew." Koga responded.

"Should we get started on the battle?" Koga nodded. Janine quickly went to where Misty and Brock watched the battle.

The referee explained the rules, "The battle will be three on three. And there will be no switches to your Pokémon during the battle." Ash nodded, "Now, let the battle begin!"

Ash vs. Koga

"Let's go, Muk!" Koga sent out his Pokémon.

"That Pokémon is almost like Grimer."

Ash took out his Pokédex and scanned it, "Muk, the Sludge Pokémon, and the evolve form of Grimer." Pokédex said. "Smells so awful, it can cause fainting. Through degeneration of its nose, it lost its sense of smell."

He put the Pokédex away, "Pikachu, you're up." Pikachu nodded and headed to battle.

"Pound!" Muk begins to move first.

"Quick Attack." Pikachu dodged the Pound and launched at Muk, "Quick Attack, again!" He charges himself to attack.

"Sludge." Pikachu got hit by the Sludge, "Thunderbolt!" Pikachu jumped and used Thunderbolt at Muk, "Great! Thunderbolt!"

Koga smiled, "Minimized."

"What?/Pika?"

They saw Muk dodges it by shrinking, "Pound!" Muk comes from behind and punches Pikachu away.

"That's my father." Janine smile at her father.

Pikachu gets back up, "Thunderbolt."

"Minimized." Muk quickly shrank himself again, "Iron Tail on the floor." Pikachu smacked the floor and sent Muk up, "There!" Pikachu quickly hit him to the ground with his Iron Tail, "Thunderbolt!"

Pikachu shocked him, causing Muk to fainted. "Muk had fainted. The winner is Pikachu."

Pikachu jumped off Muk's body and smiled for the win, "Good going, Pikachu." "Pika!"

"You've done well." Koga returns Muk to his Pokéball, "That was a bold move you pulled."

"Hehehe."

"Now, let's continue the battle." Koga took out his Pokéball and sent out a Pokémon that looked like Zubat but had a more open mouth, "Is that evolved version of Zubat?"

He took out his Pokédex and scanned it, "Golbat, the Bat Pokémon, and the evolve form of Zubat." Pokédex said, "It attacks stealthily, without warning. Its sharp fangs used to bite and suck blood."

He put it away after scanning it. "Pikachu, time for a switch." Pikachu nodded and switched, "Let's go, Slowpoke."

He sent out Slowpoke, and he'd lay on the floor, "Hm, It's going to be tricky."

"Oh, I like to see this." Janine wanted to see Slowpoke battle, "Slowpoke, Confusion." He shoots the beam from his tail, "Dodge it!" He quickly moves away from the attack, "Air Cutter."

He flapped his wings, sending out wind at Slowpoke, but he rolled over to his right to dodge it. "Water Gun!"

He shoots it and gets a direct hit. "Poison Fang!" Golbat comes closed and bites Slowpoke's tail, "Yawn!"

He quickly put Golbat to sleep, "Golbat!"

"Now, Confusion!"

Slowpoke shoots his beam but still feels the poison from Golbat, "Tackle!" He quickly runs at smack at Golbat, "Golbat, wake up!" Gobat wakes up and flies away, "That was close. Bite!"

"Water Gun!" Both of them attack each other, causing the water to fly around.

Golbat got damaged from it, "That was good, Slowpoke!" Slowpoke still felt the poison, "Finished it off with Confusion!"

"Sludge Bomb!" Both attacks caused an explosion that covered the battlefield.

It cleared, and Slowpoke was standing, "Golbat has fainted. The winner is Slowpoke."

"S-Slow." Slowpoke collapsed on the floor, "Return, Slowpoke!"

He quickly sent Slowpoke back to his Pokéball, "You've done well, Golbat. Get some rest." Koga sent Golbat to his Pokéball.

"Now, the stakes are high," Misty said. "Yeah, Koga had only one Pokémon left while Ash had only two left." Janine doesn't know who will win the match, "Let's make this memorable! Tentacruel, go!" He quickly sent out Tentacruel.

"Tentacruel, huh?" Ash took out his Pokéball, "Let's go!" Ash sent out his Charizard.

"Oh, this will be good." "Toge!" Janine was surprised to see Ash had a Charizard.

He growls at the Tentacruel, remembering his defeat. "Charizard. Stay focused, all right?" Charizard roared for the response.

"Bubble Beam." Tentacruel shoots Bubble Beam, "Block it with Flamethrower!"

Charizard shoots Flamethrower, covering himself from the Bubble Beam. "Slash!" He quickly used his claws, slashing Tentacruel.

"Poison Jab!" Charizard got hit by the tentacle.

"Grabbed it!" He quickly reacts by grabbing the arm.

'No way.'

"Now, Seismic Toss!"

Charizard flies up and spins around in the sky. Then threw him to the ground, "Tentacruel!" Tentacruel managed to get up.

"Wow, I'm impressed that someone could handle that." Brock said. While Janine was impressed that Ash's Charizard managed to keep up with Tentacruel.

"Let's keep the pace, Charizard!" Charizard nodded, "Wait!"

Koga stops Ash from battling, "What's wrong?"

Koga felt something coming, "Get down!" The wall was quickly smashed by Koga's word, "Hehehe. It's going to be easy."

They saw the person who did that was a Team Rocket Grunt, "Team Rocket?! What are you doing here?!"

"We have a contract to finish you off. As for who sent it, that's on you." They saw more grunts coming out of the vehicle.

Janine quickly stepped in. "Ash, Dad. Go finish the battle." She told them, "Are you sure you can handle us, little girl?" The grunt said with muckily.

"She's not alone."

Brock and Misty quickly joined the fight, "All right, good luck." They quickly got their Pokéballs and went outside for the battle.

"Let's continue, Ash." Ash looked at Koga, "Yeah. Slash!"

"Poison Jab." Both hit each other with their attacks.

"Swing him with Seismic Toss!"

Charizard grabbed Tentacruel's tentacles and soared to the sky. He swings him five times and throws him to the ground, "Finished it off with Dragon Rage." Instead of Dragon Rage from his mouth, it came out monstrous purple energy, shaped like a dragon. It caused an explosion after contacting Tentacruel.

Tentacruel couldn't hold on to the damaged his taken and fell, "Tentacruel has fainted. The Winner is Charizard!" Charizard roared for the win, "Then that means challenger Ash is the winner!"

Winner: Ash

"We did it! But, what happened to those guys?" They saw the Team Rocket Grunts have defeated.

"That was amazing, Misty!" Janine said after she saw how powerful her Psyduck is. "Come on, I didn't know Psyduck could do that."

Ash smiled, "At least they're captured and will sending to jail. Still, why are they here?"

Koga thinks about it, "They say something about a contract. Someone must have hired them to sabotage the Gym Battle."

Ash doesn't know who thinks of this, "Anywho, I should probably be giving you this." Ash saw Koga pull out a scroll. He opens it, revealing a Gym Badge. "Ash Ketchum, you are now worthy of the Soul Badge." He took it and felt happy about it, "All right!"

He stored it in his jacket and saw he had five Gym Badges, "Only two more left." He then remembers something. "Brock, can you heal my Pokémon?"

He nodded, "All right, I'll take a look." Ash gives Brock his Pokémon.

Outside, Brock is healing Pinsir and Scyther's wounds and everybody else. "All right, that should be enough."

Misty noticed Ash looking at his Pokédex, "What are you looking at?" Misty asked.

"I'm looking at Charizard's moves. And he got a new one." She looked at it and saw a new move that Charizard learned when battling. The name of the special is Dragon Pulse.

They quickly made it to the gate, "Sorry about the mess I made."

"It's fine. After all, it's one of the Trainer's specialties."

Janine looked at Ash, "Next time we meet, we'll have a match."

He smiled, "All right, I accepted it."

They waved their hands as they left the gym.

Team Rocket's HQ

08.23 AM

"Sir, the contract had failed." He sighed on this.

"And what about those members?"

"They have been arrested."

He facepalmed, "Those idiots." 'But that boy. Ketchum, that name bothered me so much!'

He banged the table, frustrated about the name. "Sir, the Silph Co. has finished creating the projects."

He smiled, "Good, I'll be heading there." He gets off his chair and heads to the Silph Co.
