A New Legend Begins
Prologue
Long ago, back when the earth and its kingdoms were still young; there existed tremendous and powerful magic. And with this, the people of the earth began to advance in civilization and technology. And through the power of magic, a new form of power emerged.
The Power of Spirits.
With this new power emerging, the course of history changed as powerful rulers began to ascend and rule, while history started to move into a new age; the power slowly began to turn the hearts of people into darkness. No one knew how it started but slowly but surely as time passed and the power morphed into what we call now.
The Shadow Games.
This power erupted and threatened to engulf the world in chaos and destruction; however, a brave and powerful emperor sealed the power into the mystical powerful artifacts.
Once the darkness was sealed away, the items were lost and were never seen again. However, the wheel of fate had other events that began to move in motion through the ages.
Now 7000 years later, a young girl found one of the mystical ancient relics. Curious about the artifact, she had tried many times to see what secrets lie within the relic.
Until one day her world would change forever.
End of Narration...
Present day, Magnolia City 8:00 am morning time.
"Azura. Azura? Hello? Wake up! Your gonna be late for school!" A voice sounded as the person being called woke up from their slumber.
The girl woke up feeling groggy as she slowly stretched her arms and rubbed her eyes. She looked around and saw the clock.
"Sorry, brother! I'll be downstairs soon!" The girl immediately went to the mirror to check herself and quickly went to change. Quickly putting on a light blue shirt and a skirt that reached her upper knees, she finished getting her knee socks on as she put on her school uniform a Dark Blue Jacket, and checked herself one last time before looking over to her desk.
On top of her desk, she saw a small box and quickly opened it. It contained what looked like cards.
"I can't leave without taking these with me." She grabbed the cards and slowly put them back in her compartment.
"Today is a new day. Hopefully, something good happens today." She smiled as she left her room and slowly descended the stairs of her household and reached the kitchen.
As she made her way into the kitchen her family called her out.
"Wendy, it's not like you to be late, is everything okay?" Her mother spoke as her daughter entered the room.
"My bad I didn't realize the time. I should have put my alarm on," She answered. They knew she was lying. After all, this is Wendy they were talking about, there is no way a girl like her could be so forgetful about something simple like the first new day of school.
"I remember I saw her in her room looking at that relic that she found." Her brother answered now understanding why she had delayed in preparing. At first, he didn't understand; why was she so focused on that relic?
To him, it just seemed like a worthless piece of trash since it looked like nothing more than an antique.
"Azura, look I don't want to get on your case but since this is your first day at your new school you at least need to be prepared. Besides, I don't want to learn that my sister gets in trouble for being late." Her brother scolded her.
Now for him, he doesn't take any pleasure in wanting to scold her since she is a person who in his eyes always follows the rules.
Wendy understanding his concern quickly apologized for upsetting him.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you. I promise it won't happen again." She quickly grabbed her lunch and then made her way to the door and left.
"Hopefully her first day in school goes well." Her mother spoke as she was finishing the dishes. An older blue-haired man looked at his wife before speaking.
"I wouldn't worry about it." The man spoke before continuing to talk to his family.
"What good would being anxious do to help out our little girl? At the age that she is right now, I want to make sure that at least she is enjoying her youth. And if possible hopefully she can make lots of new friends." The man spoke before going to his briefcase and leaving the household.
The woman spoke to herself before resuming her tasks at hand.
"I honestly hope that is the case." Her mom spoke those words out in a murmur.
Fairy Tail Academy, Magnolia City 8:30 am
"Huff, Huff." Wendy breathed fast as she ran barely making it passed the academy gates. She looked at the time and noticed that the ceremony was about to start. Without a second to lose, she made her way towards the Gymnasium where all of the staff and students have gathered. Making it into her seat, she waited as all of the students were addressed and then the student council president made it to the front of the podium to make her great speech.
The girl looked around 17 years of age, her most notable appearance was that she had long red hair that went past her shoulder and she was seen wearing the same type of academy as Azura. The only difference was that she had a badge on her uniform that showed her name.
Wendy read it and it read the following.
Erza Scarlet
The red-headed girl introduced herself to everyone in the ceremony.
"My name is Erza Scarlet, but you can call me Ezra and I am your Student Council President. I wanted to let you know that I have high hope for all of you. Whether you are a new student or an old student, my only desire in this school is that we can all get along and make wonderful memories together. That is all I have to say." Everyone saw how dignified she spoke and Wendy know that everyone immediately respected Ezra.
Ezra continued her speech. Everyone paid very close attention considering that this was one of the noblest and most respected members of the student council.
As all of this was going on, Wendy's mind began to drift as she found the ceremony to be quite dull. Most of the time when events like this happen, her mind tends to drift.
Finally, after a few minutes, the ceremony ended and the principal took to the podium to make the announcement that normally isn't super important. Wendy readjusted herself as the principal began to speak.
"It is with great pride and joy that I come before you all today to humbly welcome you all to our prestigious school, Fairy Tail Academy. One of the things that we value most in this entire school is the merit that our students have as well as the ability to use their minds in extravagant ways. We hope with all of our heart and soul that this Academy helps nurture all of you fine students into fine adults."
"And for the most important announcement we have decided to make a new rule and it will be implemented starting this today."
Wendy being curious perked up as other students looked intently as to what the principal had to finish saying.
"Our new rule starting today will be that you will require a partner for the next three years to succeed in these extracurricular activities. And for the partnerships to work, it must be a student in school that has the following criteria. First, they have to be in the same year as you, and for the second criterion, they must be in your class. For the last and final criteria, they have to be someone in your class that is the polar opposite of who you are."
The last criterion surprised Wendy as she wasn't expecting that last one to make sense. Why on earth did you need a partner that was your exact polar opposite? She didn't want to ask since it seemed irrelevant to even ask. Plus before even looking for a partner she needed to get to know people to find that person who was her partner.
Like that was ever going to be easy considering more than 1000 students are going to the school. Looking for a partner to her was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Finally, after the announcement was finished the principal left the podium as everyone went to their designated classes. Wendy walked alongside many students as she entered her class. It looked decently composed of many desks and the front of it had a podium where she assumed the teacher would be when directing the class.
Sitting at the far end of the class near the corner she prepared to grab her bag to begin putting away all of her utilities. When she looked over to the desk right next to her she noticed that it was empty.
"Is no one gonna take this seat?" She wondered as the desk was vacant and empty.
The teacher then entered the room and everyone was properly seated.
"Okay everyone listens very closely, my name is Professor Doran and I will be your new teacher for the next three years of your life. I hope you are ready to learn because when I'm done with all of you, everyone will be in tip-top shape to enter the world as fully mature adults. Now then to start with introductions."
Professor Doran looked over and saw a girl with blond hair. He motioned to her.
"You there with the bright blonde hair. You can stay everyone off with the introductions." She looked over at him before getting up and going in front of the whole class.
"My name is Lucy Heartfilia, but you can call me Macy. I hope that we can all get along for the next three years." She bowed before returning to her seat. Professor Doran then looked over to the next student he would have followed for introductions. He looked over to a boy with raven-like hair who had his uniform unbuttoned and called him out.
"You there with the delinquent-looking attire. Stand up and introduce yourself." The raven-haired young man got up with a sigh and made his way to the front.
"The name is Gray Fullbuster but you all can call me Ace." He spoke in a nonchalant tone as he went back to his seat.
Professor Doran then looked over to Wendy who wasn't even really paying attention.
"You there with azure blue hair, why don't you introduce yourself to the class." He motioned as she looked back at him before registering what he just said.
Wendy repeated what he said in her mind before freaking out internally.
"Wait! Do I have to do it now? I thought I didn't have to bother with it. Why do I have the worst luck? This is so unfair, why do introductions always have to be like this?" She groaned at her misfortune. She thought she could just lay low and not have to worry. But little did she know that for her not paying attention, she ended up being called out and she did not enjoy that one bit. Plus it doesn't help since she has always been a shy person who doesn't like having to be the center of attention.
"Hello, are you there? We can't have you holding up the entire class." She realized there is no use trying to stop it from happening.
Whether she liked it or not, she had to go in front of the whole class. She slowly got up from her desk and slowly made her way to the front of the class. Trying her best to keep cool, she took a deep breath and began her introduction.
"M-My Name is W-Wendy Marvell, But most people call me A-Azura. P-Please to m-make your acquaintance." She stuttered as she bowed her face in embarrassment. She felt in her body that she had butterflies. Quickly making her way back to her desk, Wendy had her face down looking at the desk in complete disarray. Her face was flushed with red and couldn't comprehend what took place.
"That was so embarrassing! I made myself look so bad. Now I'm pretty sure everyone is going to think I'm a shy weirdo." She muttered in her mind as the class had begun. Though the majority of the class was being taught the standard material, Wendy wanted the clock to hurry up and ring. After a good 40 minutes had passed. She began to pack up her bag for her next class but was stopped when the blond girl from earlier approached her.
"Hi, how's it going? Your Wendy right?" The blond girl known as Lucy spoke to her Wendy couldn't comprehend what was happening.
"Yeah that's me but you can call me Azura if you like."
"Oh okay, so I wanted to ask you something Azura. Do you want to have lunch with me and Ace?" Ace looked over to Wendy who was still contemplating the question. To him, it looked like she wanted to be on her own and with how her introduction went he figured that they should bother her.
"Macy, I wouldn't pressure Azura. If anything it looks like she has other plans." He said seeing that she was still somewhat flustered after that whole classroom introduction.
"Don't worry about it. I won't force you to hang out with us if you don't want to." Macy smiled before she and Ace decided to head to their next class. Azura looked over and couldn't help but hate herself. Macy and Ace who were the first people to introduce themselves had asked her if she wanted to hang out and she couldn't even give them a simple yes or no answer.
Azura thinking about it just went forward and got her things ready.
Now that her main class was over, she went on to attend her other classes. Each class was boring in its way as they were just teaching a majority of standard education. Finally, when lunch came around, she went to an isolated corner and began to eat her lunch she went into her bag and pulled the relic out of what was still a jumbled mess of what she had assembled so far.
She remembered a legend about the relic that had her intrigued ever since she was a little girl. She heard rumors that if anyone were to ever solve the relic and finish assembling it, then they would be able to have one single wish granted to them.
When she had heard about it, she decided that she wanted to be the person who got to solve it, and more specifically she wanted her to wish more than anything.
After eating her lunch, she went to her small box compartment and pulled out a bundle of cards that were still sealed. Even though she was smart, she kept the box mainly because of her brother who had graduated from the same academy and it was an early soon be 15th birthday gift that she had received.
Looking back on it now, she looked at the deck box. The title read.
'Tempest Wrath'
And when she looked at the box's cover, she noticed the cover card within the box had the following name.
'Tempest Magician Girl.'
"I'm not gonna lie this card looks pretty cute." She saw the detail and wondered how she had this box for a while and never really got around to opening it.
Before she could do anything else, the bell rang signaling Lunch had ended. Putting the deck away back in its compartment and putting away her relic, she made her way back to class to finish her day.
The class took a while since they were just being given their textbooks and since the class had a free period that day everyone just went along doing their own thing. Macy was busy talking to other students, While Ace was just on his touchphone doing whatever he was doing. Meanwhile, Azura was trying to get as much classwork done as possible since for her it meant that she would have less homework to do and more free time to do what she wanted. Finally, after what seemed like forever the final school bell rang signifying the end of the school day.
With nothing else to do, she headed home.
Azura's house, Magnolia City 10 pm nighttime
"Hey Azura, just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be heading over to the shop to close up." Her brother called out to her. Azure was at her desk and had her relic out as the remaining pieces were still yet to be assembled.
"I got it, please stay safe." She called back since it was nighttime now, and it would take a while before her brother would be back.
"Also I wanted to let you know, Happy 15th early birthday sis." He said before finally taking his leave. Azura heard it and smiled since she knew how he was always the one to remember her birthday even when her mom and dad didn't bother to try and remember.
Deep down, she wondered if they even cared about her considering that they didn't even bother saying happy early birthday.
Plus it doesn't help that they are always so busy and she hardly ever talks to them.
But aside from that, there was a reason she was still at her desk. Azura had decided that today would be the day that she would get her to wish. She had worked long and hard, she even gave herself massive headaches. And finally, after 7 long years, she would finish assembling her relic.
The second turned into minutes, and the minutes turned into hours. The clock had passed 11:50 pm. It was 10 minutes until midnight. Azura looked at her progress and she was pleased with herself. The relic was almost complete. Wiping a bead of sweat from her forehead she looked and saw that only 5 pieces remained to complete the relic.
"Just five more pieces and it will finally be finished. And soon I'll finally get my wish granted."
Tick...tock...
Tick...tock...
The clock continued to tick as now 4 pieces were put into the relic. Azura grabbed the last piece looking at the emblem before slowly preparing herself for the end.
"Finally with this last piece, I'll be able to have my wish granted." She smiled at herself as she positioned the final piece in its place.
Click...
The clock had now just struck midnight and now officially she had just turned 15 years old.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, Azura had done it. The relic was officially finished. Azure now content slowly closed her eye and holding the relic in her hands spoke one simple sentence.
"If what the legends are true about this relic, then I only have one wish I want to be granted to me, Please with all my heart and soul." She took one final breath before uttering.
"Please give me a true friend." She spoke as in an instant the relic began to glow.
Woosh!
Woosh!
Woosh!
The relic began to violently sway as Azura let go of it, not understanding what was going on.
Woosh!
Woosh!
Woosh!
"Huh." Azura noticed that the relic had begun to spew a kind of energy that she's never seen before.
It wasn't until she noticed that the energy was beginning to converge into a single point that an outline began to appear. It looked like something or someone was emerging from the relic. The energy began to change and fluctuate as what looked like a boy began to form from the glow.
Azura was amazed and couldn't believe what she was witnessing, she closed her eyes when the glow was at its brightest. The glow finally vanished after a few minutes. And when Azura opened her eyes she saw that standing in front of her was a boy who looked no older than her.
His appearance consisted of a black sleeveless shirt, a blue and red coat, long black pants, and brown shoes he also had a scaly white scarf wrapped around his neck, his hair was pink like salmon and it was long and jutting upwards. Then Azura looked over to the relic and noticed it was tied around the boy's neck.
After a few seconds, the young boy opened his eyes and looked around. He was in a room with which he was completely unfamiliar.
He then noticed Azura.
"Are you the one who released me from the Mystical Ancient Pendant?" He spoke brimming with confidence as Azura couldn't believe what had happened before her.
She rubbed her eyes before looking at him again. No way. Did that just happen? She finished putting the pendant together after making her wish, and a salmon-haired person just appears from within it.
It had to be her mind playing games with her.
"Who are you? And what are you doing here?" She asked as the boy responded to her in kind.
"To answer your question I am called by many names. Some call me Natsu, others call me Yami or End but you can call me Yukaru."
"I was released after you made a pure-hearted chant. If I may ask? What is your wish, that way I may have it granted?"
Azura didn't know what to make of this. This guy was inside the relic? There is no way she can believe that. He must be playing games with her. There is no such thing as that right?
"Alright, I'll tell you my wish, if you can grant it that is. I wished to have a true friend." She spoke as he looked at her before smiling back and speaking in a gentle voice.
"If you want a true friend, then I shall grant you your wish."
"What do you mean by that? What are you going to do? She was nervous and didn't understand what he meant by that.
"It's as you asked, you summoned me because you needed help and I will make your wish come true. I never abandon anyone who calls upon my power.
Azura looked at him and realized it when her grandmother told her about the legends. It was true!
It wasn't just make-believe.
Tears began to well up in her eyes as she made her wish to him.
"Will you be my friend?"
And that ends in Chapter 1. Thank you so much for your patience, in trying to mix a Fairy Tail theme with Yu-Gi-Oh.
So for the idea, just like Atem and Yugi had that bond they formed after Yugi finished the millennium puzzle.
I wanted to give Wendy and Natsu a similar relationship in which she is lacking in confidence and courage.
And just like how Natsu in this story will be more like Atem in which he will learn about kindness and compassion.
Also for the fights in this story, they will be replaced with Duels as I wanted to try something different than the norm.
Also here I will be making new bios for this story so I should be done with them by the end of the week.
Here is a rundown of the current characters now.
Their new names/nicknames
Azura Skysong
Yukaru Dragnia
Ace Froststorm
Macy Starshine
Ezra Crimsonheart
Thank you very much and let me know what you think of the first chapter. Any reviews are perfectly fine.
I'll see you guys next time peace.
