Kass' POV

I managed to get through the next two rounds against Alister and Raihan pretty quickly, which meant I was finally in the finals and able to take on Leon, something I was looking forward too.

"I'll win this round and become Champion of Galar, then I'll kick dad's butt in the Champions tournament.

I heard the crowd loudly cheering as I walked down the tunnel, especially Mom it was clear she was excited.

I waved a bit but noticed Dad and Aunt Courtney weren't with her, I wondered what they were doing but I didn't pay much mind to it, I needed to focus…still I was hoping he'd be watching to see me become a champion.

"Maybe he's just off somewhere for now." I walked up to the battlefield.

"And her opponent, the undefeated champion of Galar, Leon!" the announcer said as fireworks went off and the man came out.

"Seems like everyone is excited." Leon said.

"They should be, they're about to see you lose." I told him.

"Seems you're not here for small talk." He commented.

"I'm here to kick your butt and become Champion." I walked to my corner "I'm not worried about anything else right now."

We got ready to start, I could already feel my blood pumping as the crowd cheered.

I won't lose!

"Aegislash!" Leon sent out his Pokemon, a living sword and shield.

"Hmm, Cecelia has one of those." I took out mind "Chandelure you're up!"

With that the battle began.

"Chandelure Overheat!"

The lamp spun up and started blasting out a burst of heat.

"Aegislash King's Shield!"

The sword buckled down and blocked the attack.

"Now Shadow Claw!"

Chandelure immediately got slashed and flew back.

"Shadow Ball!"
Chandelure prepared to throw out a orb of dark energy but before she could Aegislash attacked again.

"Iron Head!"

Aegislash blocked and then spun again to slash through Chandelure knocking it out.

"Dammit." I hissed "A Champion's Pokemon are so strong."

"Cinderace!"

The rabbit landed and charged right in, tackling the ghost sword with a Flame Charge.

"Nice, now Pyro Ball!"

Cinderace moved quickly to kick a ball of flames into Aegislash who tried to block but was too slow and took a blow as a result.

"Alright now we have something, use Sacred Sword!"

"Dodge and then Flame Charge!"

Cinderace spun to avoid the attack before kicking Aegislash and KOing it.

"Got one!" I smiled "Five more to go!"

"Not bad." Leon said "But there's more to come, Inteleon!"

Leon let out a tall lanky blue lizard creature.

"High Jump Kick!"

"Don't let it get close." Leon said as my Pokemon leapt high into the air "Snipe Shot!"

Inteleon pointed into the air like it was making a finger gun and suddenly shot of a high pressure blast of water that hit Cinderace clean in the stomach like it was nothing.

"What the hell?!" I gasped as Cinderace crashed down. "You can still get up right?"

Cinderace groaned and got up.

"Alright, let's try Acrobatics!"

Cinderace again dashed in with a jump to attack.

"Sucker Punch!"

Inteleon spun around and slammed its tail into Cinderace, blwoing him back and knocking him out.

"No way…" I called him back "Dammit! Vespiquen!"

"BREEEE!" the queen bee buzzed.

"Use Attack Order!"

She quickly struck out at it with a swarm of bees. It spun around to clear them away and aimed in again.

"Ice Beam!"

"You have to dodge!"

It was already too late the hyper shot clipped her wing and knocked her down leaving my bug a sitting duck.

"Air Slash!"

Vespiquen was so easily knocked out I was feeling so much pressure.

"Flapple you try!" I sent you the dragon "Counting on you, use Grav Apple!"

Flapple flew quickly avoiding a few blasts from Inteleon and hurling apples at it like decoys.

"Good, now use Seed Bomb!"

Using the falling apples as cover Flapple got in close and threw another in, this one blowing up in Inteleon's face.

"Clever trick, but it won't work again." Leon said "Dragapult!"

Leon sent out a strange half transparent dragon Pokemon.

"Don't give them the chance!" I told Flapple "Let's hit them with Dragon Rush!"

"Make things tough." Leon said "Dragon Darts!"

The holes in Dragapult's head opened up and started shooting out darts that looked like the Pokemon Dreepy. Flapple was trying to flutter around them but there was just too many.

He's using my own cover tactic against me.

"Shadow Ball!"

Suddenly Flapple got slammed by a ball of darkness, falling over and being peppered with more of those darts till he was out of commission.

"Alright." I called him back "If it's a dragon then let's go Avalugg!"

The heavy iceberg Pokemon landed ready to battle, Leon had Dragapult shot a few times but thanks to Avalugg's bulk that wasn't something to worry about this time.

"Let's go Avalanche!"

Avalugg shot hunks of Ice at Dragapult, the slippery Pokemon darting around it till it got close.

"Now Dragon Rush!" Leon yelled.

"Ice Fang!"

Avalugg clamped down on Dragapult, throwing it around between it's icy jaws before slamming it against the grass and knocking it out.

"Alright, you're doing great." Leon said "Now it's time for a challenge."

"Shut up." I glared "Don't you dare mock me!"

I could feel my blood boiling, here I was going all out and I was down to a Pokemon and a half given how Avalugg took those attacks, I saw his smug face having fun and I was just pissed.

"Send out that oversized lizard!" I yelled "I'll show you!"

"Alright then, Charizard!"

Leon sent out that flaming lizard and I went right at it.

"Avalugg use Rock Slide!"
He hurled rocks at Charizard but the fire-type just flew through them elegantly for something of its size.

"Overheat!"

Avalugg got slammed with a gush of flames, he tried to stand up to it but it was no use, like that he fell over and I only had one more left.

"Fine we'll go three on one!" I said "Barbaracle!"

I sent out the bulky rock monster.

"Use Stone Edge!"

Barbaracle slammed down to attack as Charizard flew up higher.

"Solarbeam!"

"No!" I yelled "I-I can't lose!"

The beam of light energy crashed against Barbaracle, felling it in a single blow.

"This…isn't possible." I fell down "I'm…I'm supposed to win, I'm supposed to be a champion, I supposed to face him and show him I'm stronger."

All I could hear was the roaring crowd cheering another dominant performance from their heroic champion Leon, it was like all the praise I built evaporated in an instant as their golden boy won yet again, I was just another name in the book detailing his record, I was supposed to write my name in the hall of fame, be a champion, finally step out of my parents shadow, but I lost.

"I'm no champion…I'm just a nobody."

LATER

NO POV

"Oh dear, she's still so upset." Korrina sighed as she saw her daughter just standing at one of the fountain's in Wyndon looking down at her reflection in the rippling waters."

"The Miss is taking it very hard." Cecelia said "she was sure she was going to be victorious."

"I don't even know what we're supposed to say." Nessa sighed.

"She'll recover in time." Colt walked over "Losing is hard, especially when you set high expectations for yourself, she just needs time to clear her head, and people to help her through it."

Nessa got up and walked over to the girl and sat at the fountain with her, Cecelia slowly following after her.

"So, that nasty business with the Chairmen, you handled it?" Korrina asked.

"Yes, the other champions and I wrapped up that little issue without a problem." Colt told her "I saw the recordings…she was totally outmatched."

"I don't think she's as upset about losing as she is about being shown up like that." Korrina said "She was embarrassed Colt."

"She's got a strong heart, and a strong desire to win." Colt told his wife "She'll bounce back."

At the fountain Kass sat there wiping her face a bit.

"Sorry." She sniffled "I'm a total mess."

"I don't think it's a big deal, it was a tough fight." Nessa said "You managed to knock out three of Leon's Pokemon, that's no easy feat."

"I was so cocky." Kass said "I wasn't focused on the challenge in front of me, I was already looking passed him to my own dad, I took it for granted."

"You did you best Miss." Cecelia bowed.

"Thanks Cece." She sighed "I'm not some big shot trainer like I thought, I should just go home to Alola and stay at the mansion where losers like me belong. I did exactly what I yelled at Hop for, I focused only on beating one person and lost sight of being a strong trainer."

"Please don't say that." The bodyguard frowned.

"Are you giving up that easily." Bede said "How pathetic, and I thought you were a fitting rival."

"Yeah, well I guess I'm not." Kass said.

"Please don't look so down." Marnie said "I think you still did great."

"Look I get it you all think I did my best, but my best wasn't good enough." The girl said "Just stop, ok!"

Everyone grew silent.

"Well, if it didn't work out in Galar so what." Nessa said "If you think your best wasn't good enough than get stronger, train harder for the next chance."

"She's right." Korrina came over "you know your Dad lost plenty before he became Alola Champion. Korrina said "First time in Kalos he didn't even make the Champion's match, he lost to Serena in the league finals, then he went to Hoenn and lost to just one of Steven's Pokemon."

Kass looked at her and Korrina hugged her.

"Go and see the world, explore, learn and grow into a stronger trainer, I know you can do it." She smiled.

"I didn't win them all but I still did better than Dad." Kass laughed "So that's something."

Korrina and Cecelia smiled a bit.

"You know I've got a modeling gig coming up in another region soon, you should come with me." Nessa smiled "It'll be fun, and you can train and grow stronger there too."

"Hmm, well that's not a bad idea." Kass smiled.

"I shall come as well of course." Cecelia bowed.

"That's the spirit." Korrina smiled.

Colt smiled looking at his daughter getting excited about what adventures she still had to come.

"Get stronger Kassandra." He said to himself "And when you're ready I'll be waiting to take you on."

LATER

The Champions cup between the regional winners ended up getting called off, apparently there was some issue with Chairmen Rose that meant they'd be unable to host, Kass certainly didn't mind that, she had her bags packed and was about to get on a fancy boat with Nessa and Cecelia to head on to their next adventure.

"So what is this Modeling thing for anyway?" Kass asked.

"I guess some school wants me to model their uniform for some promotional materials and stuff, I'm not super familiar with it but it's apparently some big time academy or something?"

"I wouldn't know, I was mostly homeschooled by tutors." Kass said "it's hard to go to normal school with a Champion for a dad."

"Yeah, I'm looking forward to it." Nessa said "I've never been to Paldea."

Sorry for taking forever to wrap up the Galar part of the story, I just didn't have the inspiration for this story and was focused on other things and life and stuff. But the release of Scarlet and Violet kinda sparked me again so I came back to finish it.

The plan is to do a Violet playthrough for the story at some point, I'm just kinda trying to map it out in my head since the freeform nature of how Scar/Vio works means there's a bit less natural structure for me to work off of and a lot more traveling to write in if I need to explain stuff, plus the three story lines you play through and how I'll include all that stuff, lots of thinking to do.
