In the Owl House. The wind howls as it moves Luz's creaky open window. Luz rolls over and gasps and wakes up with a gasp and looks around the room as King is snoring.
Luz: It wasn't a dream! (Opens the window) Good morning, terrifying fantasy world.
Ocean Monster: (greeting her) Good morning. (Sinks into the ocean)
Luz: Ughh.
King continues snoring and Luz picks him up waking him up.
Luz: Good morning, little cutie (Kisses her head repeatedly)
King: I'm not your cutie!
Luz: Yes, you are (Hugs him tightly before putting him back in his sleeping bag)
King: (sighs) I know.
Luz, fully dressed, goes to Lincoln's room. She opened it and found Lincoln still asleep.
Luz: (shakes Lincoln) Linc! Linc! It is time to wake up.
Lincoln grunts a bit before getting up.
Lincoln: (looks around) So it wasn't a dream?
Luz: No now let's go it's time to start the day.
With Lincoln in his casual clothes opening the bathroom door. Several owls fly out of it, hooting. He watches the two of them fly before entering, walking backwards.
Hooty: Hello, Luz, Lincoln!
The two yelled and Luz karate chops Hooty in the face while Lincoln punches him in the forehead.
Hooty: Ouch! I just wish you a good day. (He retreats to the front door) Jesus! Hoot! Oh!
Luz: Sorry, Hooty.
Luz looks at the bathroom counter and picks up her Azura book. He opens it to see a headshot of Azura and holds it up to the mirror.
Luz: (looks at Lincoln) This is all Lincoln. our first day in the Boiling Isles, as a sorcerer's apprentice (Punches the air) Haaa!
Luz leaves the bathroom while Lincoln looks at him with a smile and follows her.
Luz: (Opens a closet door while covering her eyes) Please, have witch clothes. Please have witch clothes. Please, have some witchy clothes (He removes his hand from his eyes and sees a closet full of stereotypical witchy things) Yes yes YES YES YES! (Screams)
We see Luz writing "Witch Apprentice Luz" on a name tag and affixing it to her chest. She is now wearing a robe and what appears to be a witch hat and was standing on the stairway while smiling.
Lincoln: (walked towards her and smiled at her) Let me guess, you found witch clothes in a closet.
Luz: That's right now come it's time to learn magic!
A toilet flush is heard and Eda's shadow appears on the wall before she enters the frame.
Eda: (yawns) Hmm?
Luz: Good morning, Mrs. Owl Eda. I'm ready for my first day of witch apprenticeship.
Edda: Ugh! (Shakes the spiders out of her hair, pulls another out of her ear) Who are you again?
Luz: huh? (watches in horror as his name tag falls to the ground)
Lincoln: It's only been one night and you already forgot us?
Play music: Owl house theme
The portal appears and opens, Luz and Lincoln open their eyes and she realizes that she was falling face down causing her to get scared, but Eda rescues the two teenagers and together with King, they appear flying the Owl Staff, in the direction of La Owl House.
The camera follows them to the Owl House. He approaches the door, where Hooty is, the door opens as Luz and Lincoln came out. Light spinning and Eda's cane and strikes a pose while Lincoln draws his sword and strikes his pose. Eda with a smile takes Luz's cane and Luz gets nervous while Lincoln gives her a funny one. King stands in front of the camera to wave with his arms outstretched.
Willow, Gus, and Amity appear in a mural on Boiling Isle in three frames. Willow forms a heart with her hands, Gus holds out his arms in celebration, and Amity just ignores him and turns her back, folding her arms.
King is shown holding a stuffed rabbit, along with many other stuffed animals around. He pretends to rule these stuffed animals, until some of them fall on him, while other stuffed animals keep falling in front of the camera.
Luz with Eda's wand flies over Bonesborough while Lincoln with his sword in hand rubs alongside Luz, where he meets Tiny Nose, Willow and Gus. Later, Eda and King are seen running from the guards, Luz helps them escape, but then they lose control of the staff and are chased by a creature while all four are scared.
Luz, Lincoln, Eda, and King are on the roof of the Owl House, where Luz casts her Light Spell while Lincoln shoots lightning from his sword into the sky, making him enter the night as the title appears.

Chapter 2
Witches Before Wizards
Eda went to the kitchen while Luz and Lincoln followed her.
Luz: Do you remember us? Luz? Lincoln? (grunts as a coffee cup hits her on the back of the neck) Let's liberate the downtrodden and defeat the evil guardian together and find out that Lincoln is an azarathian. Did it happen yesterday?
Eda: Guys, leave the details. I haven't even had my cup of apple blood yet.
Lincoln: (raises an eyebrow) You mean apple juice?
Ed: no
Eda sits at the kitchen table and drinks from her mug. King sits in a high chair and pokes a fork into a yellow blob with eyes on a plate.
Luz: Teach me some spells. When do I get a magic staff? Was I supposed to bring my own runes? (gasps) Do you have a dangerous magical mission for me?
Eda: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down, kid. Being a witch doesn't happen overnight. Also, you're wrapped in a bathrobe and wearing the dirtiest traffic cone I've ever seen.
Luz takes off her hat and blows it causing the dust to fall on Lincoln's face making him cough, King just laughs.
Eda: But a magic staff, huh? Do you really want one?
Luz: More than anything.
Eda: Magic staff, come to me!
He holds out his hand. For a second, nothing happens. Then various things collide in the distance. King, Luz, Lincoln and Eda slowly spin towards the sound, until Eda's cane appears and hits her in the face, crashing to the ground.
Eda: (growls and picks up the cane, spinning it around before hitting the ground) It's early. Now, the witches receive their canes from the school. With me as your teacher, you will take a different approach.
Lincoln: (raises hand) which approach are you referring to.
Eda: (drops a bag of potions on the floor) You'll have to work for it.
Eda headed into the living room with Luz and Lincoln following him.
Eda: I run some businesses. On weekends, I offer up rare human treasures that Owlbert brings back from your side of the kingdom.
Grab a toy sword and press a button near the pommel.
Sword: I will crush my enemies! From six to once years.
Eda: (throws sword) But most days I only sell the best homemade elixirs and potions.
Luz: (Takes a bottle out of the bag and reads the label) Snake oil.
Eda: Nobody wants a snake without oil. follow me
Eda, Lincoln and Luz going out onto a balcony.
Eda: Today the two of you will deliver packages and sell potions in that town over there, Bonesborough. You will have to be careful. I have rivals everywhere who would love to take my business and you with it. Did you want a dangerous magical quest? Sister, you have one.
Luz: I won't let you down, Miss Eda.
Luz turns to greet Eda, dropping the bag of potions off the balcony in the process. The three see him fall, Luz shudders when he crashes loudly against the ground.
Eda: I'm sure.
Lincoln: I'll have the bag now ok.
Eda is pushing Luz and Lincoln towards the door with a new bag of potions that Lincoln had in hand.
Eda: Remember, never make friends with a man in sandals and always measure twice, cut once.
Lincoln: Uh, what do you mean…
Eda: Good luck! (Slams the door shut and dusts off her hands, then looks at King) I hate to interrupt your power nap, but you have to go with them.
King: what? But I just found the perfect place. Why do I have to go? Lincoln has the sword.
Eda: You and I know that Lincoln doesn't know how to control his magic well and also they barely know this world and it's possible that he'll get lost or they'll eat him, probably both.
Lincoln: (from outside) We, we're gone yet.
Luz: (presses her face against the window) and, we won't.
Eda: (closes the blinds with a spell) And because you work for me too, unless you want to start paying the rent.
King throws a small tantrum before walking out the door.
Eda: Come back before nightfall or risk mortal danger (Knocks on the door again)
Hooty: Have a safe trip.
King: Hey! Let's get this over with.
Already in Bonesborough. Luz, Lincoln, and King walk through an archway.
Luz: Wow!
Lincoln: Unbelievable!
Zoom out to reveal a wall covered in "wanted" posters on either side of the arch. Various types of demons pass by, all of which Luz and Lincoln look on in amazement.
King: Hey, it's rude to stare.
Lincoln: (looks at him) I'm sorry but I can't help it, this place is amazing.
Luz: (nodded) I've only seen places like this in my dreams. Is incredible. And I'm the only human here.
King: (shrugs) I haven't seen any others.
Luz: Wow! There must be a reason for that, right? What do you think of that Lincoln.
Lincoln: (looks at her) I think that how I came to earth, I mean if I'm the only one, you know how I survived and how I came to earth and who and if I come from this world who were my real parents (I take a minute to breathe) Fence I have a lot to assimilate.
Luz and King just stared at him because of how deep he said.
Luz: okay? I meant why am I here? What if I, Luz Noceda, your average teenager, actually had... (gasps) ...a predetermined path to greatness? (gasps) Like Azura! (gasp) And if I'm meant to help control magic and learn about your past.
King: Yes. Did Azura's path to greatness involve her delivery of boiling cream? (Takes a potion labeled "Boil B' Gone" from the bag and holds it up)
Luz: Today I'm delivering packages, but tomorrow I'll earn the respect of everyone in the Boiling Isles with my magical prowess.
King: Ha! Good luck. The Boiling Isles is nothing more than a cesspool of despair.
Luz: More like a cesspool of pleasure.
Lincoln: Well let's focus, we're delivering the potions.
Luz takes the cream to a boil and looks around. He starts heading towards the market, where he approaches a centaur holding a gourd in front of his chest.
Luz: What has four hooves and wants to buy a potion? This guy.
Centaur: (sighs and lowers the gourd to reveal his face on his chest) My eyes are down here.
Luz screams in surprise.
In a house, where Luz rings the doorbell. He leaves his hand on the button, and the buzzer bites into his hand and slowly begins to eat into his arm. Luz screams in fright while Lincoln was helping her to get him out while King walks away annoyed.
After freeing his arm and selling the potions, the three of them sat on a curb, while he finished eating a Not Dog from the cart behind them.
King: (sighs) I know I've had enough pleasure for one day.
Luz: I thought being the only human in a magical world would make me special. But apparently, it makes everyone want to yell at me or… (Raises his arm to reveal a small winged creature biting his elbow) Eat me.
Lincoln: (throws the creature away) Luz, no one has an easy start, they always have to see difficulties on the first day.
Luz: (sighs, opening her book) At this point, Azura had already been sent on a haunted quest. Where's my quest-granting wizard?
King: I'm sorry to break it to you, Luz, but no one here is that well dressed.
Lincoln: This has been a hard day. (Stands up and hoists the bag of potions over his shoulder) Let's deliver this last package and go home.
Luz nodded and gets up and the three of them go back to the alley.
Luz: (sighs sadly) Maybe this world isn't what I thought it was….. (gasps) Pretty!
Lincoln: Wow!
The three see a large castle with golden banners illuminated by sunlight. The doorbell is also made of gold, and the towering wooden doors open after Luz presses on them.
King: The big houses always belong to the big cranks. Let's kick the package in and get out of here.
But Luz and Lincoln Entering and ignoring King
Luz: Hello?
Lincoln: Is anyone here?
King: Hey, wait. (Runs after the two, howling as the doors close behind him) Whoa!
Luz: (Entering a room) We are delivering a package from Miss Eda, the Owl Lady. Hey?
Lincoln: Well, there's no one, we'd better leave the package with a note here and we'll leave.
But before they did that. Lanterns around the room light up, revealing it to be a massive library. They illuminate a large staircase, above which is a painting of a magician. Said magician enters through a door in the same pose that he has in the painting.
Luz: (Gasps) Today got good (she said before I danced with emotion) Magic wizard!
King: Weird old man at jim-jams.
Magician: (Going downstairs) I was in my oscillarium, reading the stars. And who could you be, with eyes full of curiosity?
Luz: Uh, I am….
Lincoln: (Not confident) We came from Eda to deliver this package. So we're leaving.
Lincoln didn't trust him for two reasons 1 this place seems too perfect and 2 the subject was wearing sandals.
Magician: (Running towards the three of them) Young lady, I dare say that I feel something unique about you. Please won't you join me for tea?
The magician summons two chairs and a refreshment table. He sits on the white throne.
Luz: (gasps) Okay.
Lincoln: (stops her) We came here to deliver a package we already did it now let's go, also Eda said to be careful with the boys with sandals.
King: (Climbs on Luz's shoulder) Besides, wizards are just old people with glitter in their pockets.
The magician takes a handful of glitter from his pocket and drops it on the floor.
King: I don't trust him.
Luz: But the stars on his robe shine. And look, there's a baby fox in his beard.
The baby fox laughs.
Lincoln: (with luminous eyes) Aww it's adorable (he said before putting the series position) But I still don't trust him.
Luz: Also, I see buns on the table.
king: where?
King gasps as he runs to the table.
Luz looks at Lincoln and he sighs in defeat.
Lincoln: Good (dropping the bag of potions in front of the chair as he sits in it)
Luz: We'd love to join you for tea.
Lincoln (Turns around and notices a potions cart) So you sell potions, Mr. Wizard?
Adegast: Please call me Adegast. Boy, yes, I have a small business.
King: (Chewing, picks up an empty plate) You should run a little more buns in my mouth business. (Laughter) Yeah!
Adegast: I'm surprised to see them here. I understood that Eda delivered the packages herself.
Luz: Well, we are a bit, more or less, his apprentices.
Adegasto: Ouch! And how are you finding the experience so far?
Luz: (She has a fake smile before sighing) Well on Lincoln's part it's easy since he has magic and a powerful sword. But for me, can I be honest, Mr. Adegast? When I decided to stay in this magical world, I thought I was destined for something special. But Eda thinks I'm cut out for housework and I'm afraid I came to the wrong place.
Adegast: (looks at Lincoln) So a sword huh (take a good look at the sword that Lincoln was on his back) I thought the Azarathian were extinct.
As much as Lincoln, Luz, and King were surprised, the surprise was so much that King dropped half of the bun.
Lincoln: How?
Adegast: Only the azarathian use that sword. But how strange. I thought that the last azarathian was Draven Goodspeed?
Lincoln and Luz: Draven Goodspeed?
Adegast: You don't know anything about him? I thought Eda told him he went everywhere with her.
Lincoln was surprised and began to think that if that was his father he would have to talk to Eda about it.
Adegast: (Approaching Luz) But well, I have a mission—
Luz: A search?
Adegast: (laughs) You didn't let me finish. I have a question.
Luz: oh
Adegast: Would you like to go on a quest?
Luz: yes!
Adegast: (reaches into his beard and pulls out a scroll) I might have just the thing. (unrolls the scroll to reveal a map) The prophecy tells of a young human girl who will claim the Heavenly Staff and rid this world of an ancient evil. Maybe you came here for a reason.
Luz: Maybe yes (Takes the map)
Adegast: If you think you're worth trying this quest... (Starts to walk through his house)
Luz: (Follows him) So dignified.
Adegast: ...you need to know that the path is dark and dangerous.
Luz: Danger of love. Big fan of danger.
Adegast: And only the Chosen One can remove the staff from its post.
Luz: (stops walking) Chosen.
Lincoln looked at him suspiciously since that got very strange but he didn't want to be rude so he decided to pretend that he believed him.
Lincoln: Well thanks for the tea but it's time to go.
Luz: Yes, we have to go. And pack up for this haunted quest! I'm in.
Adegast: Wonderful.
Lincoln: (thought) My God.
Already in the more specific owl house in Luz's bedroom, we see Luz who is sheathing the toy sword. Surrounding her are various potions, food, the quest scroll, and of course her Azura book.
Luz: So, Lincoln, King, what kind of Chosen One should I be?
Lincoln didn't answer since he was still thinking about what the wizard said about the other azarathian who could be his father. While King is massaging Luz's sleeping bag, he yawns and lies down without listening to Luz or ignoring her.
Luz: (Takes her book) Should I be full of optimism and kindness, like the Good Witch Azura? Or should she be like a chosen bad girl with black nail polish and a mysteriously withdrawn attitude? (Uses book as a mouth) I act like I don't care, but secretly I do.
Lincoln: Are you seriously going to fall for that?
Luz: Yes, what is the problem?
Lincoln: Let's see we found a castle in an alley, that castle is too perfect for this world and a stranger we never met wants to give you a mission out of the blue. You don't look strange.
Luz: But this is my chance to finally get a magic staff. Exactly how Azura got her staff!
Lincoln: First Azura earned this magic. And second, the magician only those sent on that search to reach the witch.
King: (looks at the stage) You two are fans of this disgustingly cheesy book.
Luz: But it can be different!
Lincoln: Still, I'm not sure I'd go on that quest.
Luz: (gets annoyed) Ugh! Why can't you just let me have this?! I'm not a little girl and besides you're not my brother to tell me what to do!
Lincoln was startled and was about to say something but Eda walked into the room, holding a monstrous blue hand severed from bone.
Eda: Oh, am I listening to friends' arguments? When is the fight? Why am I going to bet on?
Lincoln and Luz: (they both yell) NOT EDA NOW!!!
Eda: (is surprised) Wow, what's going on?
King: Eda, tell Luz how stupid wizards are.
Eda: (gesturing with a severed arm and nearly hitting King several times) Yuck! Wizards are the worst. Never trust a man in casual clothes (links his fingers with those of the amputated arm) Why?
King: Your wizard client told Luz... (laughs) she was a... (laughing) she was a Chosen! (Laughing)
Eda: Wait, wait, Luz? (She laughs so hard she falls to the ground.)
King: (laughing) He even gave her a map.
Eda and King laugh as Luz hides behind her book, an embarrassed blush on her face.
Lincoln: (looks at her and then looks at the two of them) Hey, stop laughing, this is serious.
Eda: (gets up laughing) Ok let me see this map.
Luz hands her the map. She inspects it for a few seconds.
Eda: Ok I agree with Lincoln. You didn't think this was real, did you?
Luz: what?
Eda: This map is nonsense. There is no lake with a Sky Staff in the Boiling Isles. I would have stolen it years ago (Looks at Luz's discouraged face and hands her the map) Ah, don't worry. A couple more months here and you won't look like a victim.
Luz: Can I have some time alone?
Eda shrugs and leaves the room. King jumps out of Luz's sleeping bag and follows Eda. Lincoln looks at Luz with concern and decides to give her space and leaves too. The door closes, leaving the room in shadow.
Luz: Maybe they were right (He leans against the wall before sliding to the floor) Huh?
Sunlight illuminates a corner of the map, revealing the word "one" in bright blue letters. Luz holds the entire map to light revealing the message.
"The chosen one. The path will only appear to the worthy"
Luz: The path will only appear to the worthy (gasps) That's why Eda couldn't see it. But am I... really worthy?
The wind howls and opens the window. The map flies out of his grasp, landing next to his book. The wind flips the pages to show Azura standing, loved and triumphant, on a small hill, the people around her applauding as she holds a cane up to the sun.
Luz: I'll never know unless I try.
In the living room, where King is lying on the couch.
King: Finally! All that mean laughter made me sleepy.
Lincoln looks at him and goes over to where Eda is.
(Play music: I'm Scared Too Steven Price)
Lincoln: Ehh Eda can I ask you something?
Eda: (looks at him) Of course it happens.
Lincoln: You met my real father.
Eda: (is surprised) Where does that question come from?
Lincoln: Well, the wizard said that there was another Azarathian named Draven, that's true.
Eda looked at him for a moment and took a deep breath, she never thought to tell him now.
Eda: (sigh) You're just like your father, always curious and guess things in a minute.
Lincoln: So he was.
Eda: Yes (Takes a photo of her hair) Draven and I were best friends in adolescence, I didn't know he was an azarathian, he was good at hiding things, he was an intruder for me, but already in our adult stage Draven told me (he gives her the photo to Lincoln)
Lincoln looks at the photo and sees a young Eda making a mockery and next to her was a teenager. He had white hair and it was messy.
Lincoln: (surprised) Does he look like me?
Eda: (smiles at him) You guys are very identical.
Lincoln: (looks at Eda) What was he like?
Eda: He was the best student and a skilled sorcerer. He created many plans in every situation (with a sad tone) he was a good friend. What reminds me.
Eda goes where there is a big chest. He opens it and searches. Eventually he pulls out an old brown book with the alchemy transmutation circle they saw in the Pillar when they went to the Conformatory.
Eda: Your father wanted to give you this when he grew up.
Lincoln: (takes it) A book?
Eda: More than a book is the book of the Azarathian. Here all the magic spells that made the azarathian (coldly) before the dark days. Before extinction.
Lincoln: (He saw Eda a little depressed) How did my father die?
Eda: (takes a deep breath) It was a day when the azarathians were considered dangerous and they began to hunt them down one by one. They were going straight towards your father and in an attempt to protect me he cast a sleeping spell on me. When I woke up I didn't see him. I was so scared that I went to look for him but when I got there, I only saw destruction blood and death everywhere (tears started coming out) I was scared man, hell, I was horrified because not only did I lose a friend, I lost a part of me.
Lincoln: Wow, I had no idea.
Eda: (put a hand on Lincoln's shoulder) Listen, kid, almost the world must know that you are an azarathian because there are people who are capable of persecuting you and doing something unwanted.
(End of song)
Lincoln: (nodded) I understand. I think I'm glad I didn't listen to Adegast.
Eda: Adegast?
Lincoln: That's the wizard client. Something happens?
Eda: If I don't know him that well. And I don't trust this itch that is scratching Luz.
Lincoln: Yes, although I think they shouldn't have made fun of her.
Eda: (sighs repentantly) If she's right, there's what to do with her.
The two of them went up the stairs and stood in front of Luz's door.
Eda: (Opens the door) Hey, Luz? Oh, nuts.
His room is empty, the howling of the wind opens the window.
Lincoln: Oh no.
Eda and Lincoln run to the window.
Eda: Hooty, where did he go?
hooty: (poked his head out) hoo, hoo. If you want the answer you're looking for, solve my riddle in a week.
Eda hits the wall hard enough to shake the entire house, leaving cracks in the wall.
Hooty: Ouch! Well well. He headed into the woods towards Bonesborough. Caramba!
Lincoln: What!? But why did I come back… (realizes) oh right. We have to go after her.
Eda: (nodded) King wake up we have to go.
At the Bonesborough city limits, we see Luz looking out into the woods.
Luz: (Inhales) My first mythical mission. Say oh!
Luz jumps and slides down a slope, then steps over a fallen log. A thick mist rolls in as she keeps walking.
Light: It's okay. I have my scroll, I have my youthful optimism, I have my trusty weapon (He pulls out his sword and presses a button)
Sword: By the power of Skullgar, I have no battery.
The lights on the sword dim when Luz lowers it.
Luz continues forward, dodging a branch and cutting a rope with her sword.
Luz: You know, I wonder if I made the right decision coming here. (gasps) Wow!
Later on, Luz sees a town full of cats dressed up and walking on two legs. Luz walks through town, smiling as she looks around her. He approaches a fountain in the middle of a square, from which emerges a witch with a sword strapped to his waist, brushing his wet hair from his face.
Nevareth: I see. So you're the Chosen One. (Scoffs) The Heavenly Staff should have chosen me, Nevareth Bladestrife, Teen Prince of Angstmore.
Luz: (Staring at his biceps) Yes. Yes, I made the right choice.
Lincoln and King were taking Eda to the alley where they found the wizard.
King: This is where we met the buns. I mean, the magician.
Eda pulls back a patched curtain. Shocking all three by what they saw.
Lincoln: That's not how the castle looked before.
The castle is now in complete ruin, with crumbling walls, no tower, and faded banners. One of the front doors is lying on the floor, and as they watch, a piece of wall falls off a pillar.
Eda: I don't like this.
A door opens, revealing the library. Tattered scrolls now litter the floor, shelves are broken, paintings are cracked, and bits of debris block the stairs. Eda steps forward, onto a stack of scrolls. She collects them all, each illuminated with the glowing message of "The Chosen One".
Eda: I really don't like this.
Lincoln: Is it my idea or does this place look like the castle in the Dark Souls game?
Returned with Luz. Luz walks with Nevareth and a flying onion with bat wings.
Luz: Nevareth, your vengeful backstory is so compelling. And I love your animal companion.
Nevareth: After my people were consumed, my heart has known nothing but revenge.
They stop walking.
Luz: Nevareth!
Nevareth: Lady Luz, do you believe that love can flourish on the battlefield?
Luz: (Turns around and laughs to herself) This search is a search in all the right ways.
The three walk towards a bridge, howling when a creature that looks like a kitten the size of a goblin charges in front of them.
Nevareth: Ew.
creature: (dances) Hum-di-diddle, to get across the bridge, you must first solve my riddle.
Luz: Hit me, you little hairy man.
Creature: Your quest will stop if you fail this game. So tell me, dear, what's my name?
Luz: Hmm. (Bends down to inspect his name tag) Uh...Chris?
Chris: That's it. You can cross the bridge. And please take this, Chosen One. It will help you on your journey (Gives him a ring)
Luz: Wow. This is incredible. Thanks. (puts on the ring)
Nevareth: Do you need a cloak?
Luz: No, I think I'm fine…
Nevareth: You can wear my shirt.
Nevareth rips off her shirt and ties it like a cloak around Luz's shoulders.
Luz: yes I need a cape (Laughter)
Nevareth: Three cheers for the Chosen One. hip hip...
All: Hooray!
Nevareth: Hip, hip...
All: Hooray!
Luz blushes at the praise.
Eda, Lincoln, and King are standing in the cat town, which is now destroyed. Dark clouds hang in the sky, and misty clouds hang in front of the houses.
Eda: Oh no.
Lincoln: (to King) Are you sure she came here?
King: [Sniffing. ] I can't mistake his smell. Like lemons and young naive confidence.
Eda walks over to the fountain, which is now broken and covered in dying vines. A cat wrapped in vines is lying in the lower sink. Eda kneels in front of the fountain.
Eddie: hello! Wake up (Shakes the cat's head) What have you done with Luz? (Shakes him) What's your ending?
Cat: To find your pupil and calm your anger, look ahead and follow the path (Laughs as he disintegrates)
Lincoln: (shocking) Holy mother of God.
King: (gasps) The werecat melted!
Eda: (Sighs and stands up) It's a trap. They want me to follow Luz.
King: So what do we do?
Lincoln: What is there to do? We have to go after Luz and help her.
Eda thought for a second before turning to Lincoln.
Eda: Lincoln, it's time for a quick little one to teach yourself something about the sword.
Lincoln confused and pulls out his sword.
Back in the forest, where, along with Nevareth and Chris, Luz walks with a far less hostile fairy than the one she met the day before.
Luz: Thank you for inviting me to your party, Princess. All your food was so small and cute.
Princess: (Spins her hands and creates two bracelets) For you, Chosen One.
Luz: (Puts on the bracelets) Thank you. You all have been so kind and considerate. (jumps and strikes a pose) I hope this search never ends.
Chris: Your search will soon come to an end, for the staff you seek is just around the corner.
Luz: (drops her pose) Thanks for ruining the mood, Chris.
Nevareth: Go ahead, Chosen One. The Heavenly Staff is yours. You have earned it.
Luz cheers up and continues on the path.
Nevareth: Goodbye, Lady Light.
Princess: Bye. We love you, Chosen One.
Birds chirp as they fly overhead, casting long shadows below them. Luz looks away from them to focus on the road, before slowing to a stop. Light gasps.
The Celestial Staff stands on a platform in the middle of a lake, illuminated by a beam of light.
As Luz approaches the edge of the lake, a glow comes from the water, followed a few seconds later by a stone walkway being lowered into place, connecting the edge of the lake and the central platform.
Luz: I knew that this world wasn't all gloom and doom like Eda and King said. (jumping and spinning down the catwalk) There is wonder here. Just like Lincoln came here since he's an Azarathian, I… I think I came here for a reason.
He pauses when he reaches the platform, looking at the staff in amazement.
Luz: Ok, this is it. moment of truth
Wavering Luz grabs the staff. Blue eddies of magic emanate, creating ripples in the lake as the top of the staff glows brightly. He pulls it out of the ground and holds it triumphantly over his head.
Luz: yes! I'm the chosen one! I knew it! I always suspected that there was a reason why no one understood my crazy antics at home, well I sketch Lincoln but it doesn't matter (Jumps and spins in a circle, then holds the cane with both hands) Now I have concrete proof (Laughter)
But in an instant the stick disintegrates, the dust is carried away by the wind.
Luz: No!
She grabs the dust. Around him, the rest of the illusions fade: the flowers at his feet wither, the water drains from the lake and recedes up the river, and even the leaves disappear in a whirlpool.
Luz: what?
Eda and King flying through the forest on Eda's staff.
?: WOOHOOOOO
Next to them we see Lincoln who was rubbing with the sword in his hand.
Lincoln: (excited) This is amazing! I didn't know you could fly with your sword, it's like Thor!
King: I'm surprised he wasn't down there.
Lincoln: (looks at Eda) So you know something about our friend.
Eda: Yes I know this guy. He is not a magician. He is what you would call a puppeteer, a demon who specializes in conning and manipulating people. He's trying to use Luz to get to me.
Lincoln: And since he knows I'm an azarathian, he also wanted to trick me.
King: Yeah, and we're flying right into your trap. Live.
Eda: Well, if you come up with a better plan, I'd love to hear it. Hey, faster, you (hits his cane)
Owlbert hooted and picked up his pace while Lincoln did the same.
Back in the Heavenly Lake, now surrounded by mist. Luz steps back, holding her sword in front of her. Luz groans.
Adegast: (Appearing from the mist) Luz, the human.
Luz: Magic wizard?
Adegast: Your arrogance has failed you, apprentice witch (Laughter)
Adegast lifts the wizard's puppet to reveal an ocotopus-like demon. The ground begins to crack.)
Luz: huh?
His former traveling companions and the town's cats emerge from the stone, one tentacle on each of their backs. They rise into the air and surround Luz, who is spinning slowly.
Luz: It's okay, Luz. Do not panic. This is classic Chosen business. You just have to rescue everyone and defeat the final boss.
Adegast: I'm everyone! Fool, can't you see? I am not a magician. And you are not Chosen. I cheated on you (evil laughs)
Luz: what?
As she is distracted by the revelation, her cloak floats around her. It turns into chains, forcing her to her knees. The bracelets become handcuffs and the ring becomes chains that bind their hands, secured with a padlock.
Luz: No! Betrayed by my own cool accessories. Why are you doing this?
Adegast: Your mentor has been stealing customers from my potions business for years. She must be destroyed.
Luz: Does everyone have problems with Eda here?
Puppets: Well yes. Absolutely. Quite. Yes.
Luz: (Sighs) You should have listened to Lincoln. Or Eda too.
Adegast: Has the Azarathian been as powerful as he claims but tending towards you as a weakness. you lured them right into my trap, all because you wanted to think you were special.
Luz: No. I'm kidding with you, because Eda and Lincoln aren't stupid enough to fall for your trap.
Eda: Adegast!
Luz: Oh, hell!
Eda and King land at the end of the catwalk next to Lincoln.
Lincoln: (with his sword in hand) Leave my sister.
Adegast: Eda and the Azarathian, I have them now!
Three cat puppets sprout from the ground, one grabs Eda, the other King and the other Lincoln causing him to drop his sword to the ground.
Eda: That's right. you got us Now let go of Luz.
King: I didn't have to be a part of this!
Adegast: Oh, she can go. If she wants. But I feel like she wants a real fantasy.
Chris's puppet breathes a cloud of mist towards Luz. When she opens her eyes, she is free of her restraints, kneeling in a dark void. Adegast's puppets walk towards her from the darkness.
Nevareth: Stay with us, Luz. Stick with Adegast. We need you here. You could be our Chosen One.
Princess: Yes, you can eat our little food forever.
Nevereth: Luz, why would you want to live in a world where people laugh at you?
Luz: It's beautiful here.
Lincoln: Luz! Don't listen to him!
Luz: And you think I'm special.
Eda: No! (grunts as the tentacle almost engulfs her)
All the puppets approach Luz.
Luz: But it's not real. (Grunts and pushes away the mist, running forward to pick up his sword) I'm an apprentice witch. And I'm going to earn my magic staff the hard way. I believed you, Magic Man. Now feel my wrath!
Luz stabs the wizard puppet in the stomach, making it disappear with a poof. Adegast yells.
Eda, Lincoln, and King break free, landing next to Luz with a grunt.
Lincoln: (grabs sword) Ready for revenge.
Luz: With pleasure.
Luz swings her sword at the princess as if she were a bat, making her go away.
Three cat puppets approach Eda. She draws a circle of spells, sending a column of orange smoke towards them. They disintegrate with distorted screams. Adegast keeps screaming.
Lincoln raised the sword called a lightning bolt and hurled it at Chris causing him to be electrocuted and explode. Adegast yelled again.
Nevareth tries to surprise Luz, but her scream alerts her. She catches his sword with hers and confronts him.
Luz: I thought we had a connection, Nevareth! (Pushes his sword through his chest)
Nevareth: (grunts) Ah, my flawless pecs! (poofs)
Eda lands next to Luz and Lincoln runs towards the two, the three of them share a smile.
Adegast: Back off! (lifts King up) Or the dog gets it.
King: I'm not a… (muffled grunt)
Eda and Luz drop their weapons and raise their hands in surrender except for Lincoln
Lincoln: You really are a lousy wizard. Playing with me and Luz for fools. But my friend was right about something. Wizards just a big slimy jerk.
Lincoln sent a blast of electricity from his sword at Adegast causing him to scream in pain and drop King, who is caught by Luz. Adegast screaming until his body began to swell so much that it exploded and dropped a green liquid all over the place, it even fell to the four of them.
Everyone was silent until Eda broke the silence.
Eda: Well, that's the last time I take an external reference.
Lincoln: (looks disgusted) Please tell me this isn't blood.
Eda: Ehh (I didn't know how to tell him)
Luz: I'm confused.
Eda: (looks at Luz) Are you thinking of quitting, huh?
Luz: This place is not how I imagined it (looks at Lincoln) Sorry for what happened there. If I hadn't listened to you, none of this would have happened.
Lincoln: (hugs her) Don't worry I understand if I were in your position I would do the same.
Luz: (steps away from the hug) It's not that, the truth is that I wanted to be like you. You became a warlock when we got here. You already have a purpose but me.
Lincoln: (puts his hand on Luz's shoulder) Hey, I'm right, but that doesn't mean you don't have it, maybe if you do, you just have to find your own way to become a witch.
Luz smiled tearfully before hugging Lincoln.
Eda: . Well, if you two are done with your cheesy moment, come with me. I have something to show you.
We see the four of them on Eda's staff, floating in the sky. Luz and Lincoln wears a blindfold.
Eda: Okay, you can watch.
The two remove the blindfold and are surprised
Luz: Wow.
Lincoln: These are.
The two see the entirety of the Boiling Islands: the decaying body of a Titan. He is lying with his arms outstretched in the sea, his skull illuminated by the setting sun.
Eda: The bones of the Islands. Up close, the Islands can be slimy
King: And very stinky.
Eda: And disgusting. But if you look at it from another perspective...
The four look up at the sky above the Titan's skull, where stars begin to appear. As they watch, a shooting star crosses the sky, there for only a moment.
Luz: it's beautiful
Lincoln: Yes (he agreed while King supports Luz)
Luz: Eda, how did you know that magician was lying?
Eda: Look, kid, everyone wants to believe that they are "chosen". But if we all wait for a prophecy that makes us special (Laughter) we would die waiting. And that is why you need to choose yourself.
Luz: Does that mean you'll give me a magical staff of my own?
Eda: Not yet. But someday.
Luz leans into Lincoln as Lincoln put his arm around her.
Lincoln: (mumbles) Thank you... Eda (they lean on Eda)
Eda looks at Lincoln and could only smile as they watch the sun go down.
