Chapter 1-

Sho twirled the silver ring on his finger. It caught the light from the window every now and again; it stung his eyes, which had become accustomed to the darkness that enveloped him at all hours of his life, and taunted him. Now his mind grew tired and his body aged no more, he was still a young man on the outside, yet he outlived most of those who he met.

He found it hard to remember his last 'friend'… the recollection seemed like a dream, a dream in which he could only make out silhouettes, voices and blurred colours. All of his effort had added up to nought in the end, and Son had died, Yi-Che had died, Toshi, Shinji… everyone from his real life was gone, and he was left, deserted, isolated, living a half-life.

Finding it so hard currently to forget his tomodachi. The person who could comfort him when nobody else could even try, the person who'd raised him and his two brothers, he'd only ever thought of Sho's health above his own.

I've lost something important because of small things

The cold ring showed its glimmer to me

I said, "All I need is today," but that wasn't the case

The door to you vanished without a sound

Even though Kei had broken all of the promises he'd made, the last time he'd seen him, Kei had turned him, despite all of his protest. He would call Sho selfish, and get mad, but only because he'd never wanted to turn an innocent human, or any human for that matter. But in the end, he was the selfish one, to turn and leave that day.

Sho slumped in the drivers seat, dressed in his white trench coat. The light material made him seem to glow, and in addition to that, the peaceful look of his sleeping face, the whole scene around him made him give the impression of an angel or something. At least this is what Kei thought, as dawn broke and the sun lit up the cloudy sky.

He leaned down and pressed his lips to the younger mans forehead for a millisecond, before drawing away and opening the car door. He stepped onto the grass that was moist with dew and strolled around the bonnet of the vehicle.Delicatley hegently moved Sho's arm from the top of the door.

He noted that the vintage-looking car needed a paint job, as the previous one happened to be peeling of into his hands. He scooped up the tall vampires legs and manoeuvred him into the passenger seat, disturbing slightly, Sho wriggled in his sleep and his head lolled backwards over the car seat. Giggling silently, Kei opened the glove compartment and pulled out a roll of money. Not stopping to count how much was there; he could already feel the warmth of the day crawling over his palms- a painful aide-memoire…
