Chapter Twelve
The tower shook again as Veronica and Vivian blows connected. Vivian smiled as she punched Veronica hard in the jaw. Veronica stumbled back a little but the moment she balanced herself she punched Vivian across the face. The tower shook more violently as a chunk fell out of the ceiling dropping all around them.
Both their eyes narrowed and flickered. Rearing back, both women punched at the same time. The moment their hands connected a loud boom shook the tower. The two of them flew backwards smacking against the walls.
Breathing hard, smiles spread across their lips for this reminded them of the first time they met. It was hundreds of years ago; Vivian wandered the world after finding Henry. She appeared in a forest by a stream. She watched a woman catching fish with the sound of her voice. Sensing another presence, the woman stood up and looked at Vivian.
"Who are you?" The woman asked.
"I am Vivian, the sensory goddess of sight," Vivian said. "What is your name?"
"Veronica, why have you come to me?" Veronica asked.
"You have the gift of speech; I have been searching for Sensory's like yourself. Join me in preserving and keeping the five senses of the world safe," Vivian said.
Veronica stood up and turned her back to her.
"I refuse."
"Very well, how about this, we fight. If I win you join me," Vivian said.
"And if I win you leave me alone," Veronica said.
"Deal."
Veronica turned around and looked at Vivian, both women smiled and charged at one another.
A huge chunk of the wall slammed on the floor bringing both women's mind back to the present.
"You couldn't beat me back then, what makes you think you can do it now?" Vivian asked, standing up.
"Because I am not fighting for myself, but to return the world back to the way it should be," Veronica said, pushing herself off the floor.
Vivian smiled. "You've finally grown up, come then let's finish this."
Veronica smiled. "With pleasure."
Finally reaching the top floor, everyone's eyes widen at the fight between Veronica and Vivian. The two women were moving so fast they all ducked, as they zipped over top of them. The tower shook more and more. Nadine spotted Jeffery running to the chamber room and took off after him. But Grover pulled her back when a huge piece of the wall fell down in front of her. Shaking off the shock, Nadine looked at Grover.
"Thanks." Nadine said.
Grover nodded as the two of them joined the others.
Vincent's eyes narrowed as Jeffery continued off to the chamber. Looking back at the fight before him, Vincent pulled out his sword. He wasn't sure how he was going to help, but he knew he had to stop them. So, when he took a step forward toward Veronica, Henry laid a hand on his shoulder.
"We need to stop this," Vincent said.
"I know, you'll just get hurt," Henry said.
Everyone continued watching as Veronica slammed Vivian into a wall. When she stepped out of the wall, she looked at everyone with a smirk as her eyes gave off a black tint.
"Ah…. Vivian's infected," Henry sighed.
Everyone watched as Henry cracked his neck and hands. His eyes flickered as he shook his body. Within moments his body gave off a brownish aura.
"Hm, looks like I need to break them up," Henry said, followed with a sigh. "When I step in Nadine, Vincent, Grover, Annabeth and Percy head after Jeffery,"
They nodded. Henry looked at Tina, Samantha and Thomas.
"While the rest of us deal with Vivian."
The other Sensory's nodded. Tina's eyes flickered as her crystal braces glowed. Thomas's ladles appeared in his hands. Samantha pulled out her fans. The Sensory's took deep breaths as their aura steadily lined their bodies.
Percy pulled out his pen, Annabeth pulled out her daggers. Grover and Vincent pulled out their swords while Nadine took a deep breath as her hands gave off a pale pink glow.
Henry looked back at everyone who nodded. Taking a deep breath, he walked toward Veronica and Vivian. The power that both women gave off pushed Henry back, but the moment his eyes glowed he continued forward. When he was close enough, he jumped in between them.
Ignoring the pain, Henry looked at Vivian who stared right back at him. He noticed the dark glow in her eyes flickering. A smile spread across the Vivian's lips. Henry grabbed her shirt as he pushed out more power. The tower shook nonstop as all the walls cracked ferociously.
"Henry…." Vivian said followed with a smirk.
"Henry?" Veronica said.
Henry looked back at Veronica with a smile.
"Hey there ladies mind if I cut in?" Henry said followed with a smile.
Veronica powered down as she stumbled backwards. She was caught by Tina and Samantha who helped her stand up. Thomas joined them.
"Now!" Henry shouted.
Veronica watched Percy, Annabeth, Grover, Vincent and Nadine run towards the chamber door. Looking back at Vivian, Veronica watched Henry grit his teeth as he tossed Vivian in the air. Pulling out his bo staff, his power flowed through the staff at Vivian. The other Sensory's held up their weapons as their power flowed through their weapons at Vivian. Smiling, Vivian's eyes flickered as a dark bubble formed around her. The bubble would increase and decrease in size which only made the Sensory's push out more power.
"Don't worry we'll save you…. our queen." Henry whispered.
Meanwhile at the chamber room door, Jeffery pulled it opened. Running inside he pressed a button as the door slowly closed behind him.
"The door!" Annabeth shouted.
Percy clicked his pen and slid it across the floor. The pen was wedge in the door but it transformed into a sword opening it up a bit more. Vincent and Grover reached the door first. They pulled on the door and the moment Percy joined them he helped them too. When the door was open enough Annabeth and Nadine squeezed through. Nadine slammed her hand on the red button inside. Once the door was open, Vincent and Grover ran inside. Picking up his sword Percy joined them.
Everyone nodded and took off running down the corridor of the chamber. Seeing Jeffery only a few feet in front of them Percy jumped in the air, He came down smacking Jeffery in the head knocking him on to the floor. Grover followed up with a kick in the face but Jeffery grabs his foot and sent him flying into a wall. Nadine went to run toward Grover but Annabeth pulled her back shaking her head.
"Go on to the main part of the chamber, we got this," Annabeth said.
Nodding, Nadine took off running while Annabeth charged at Jeffery with Vincent by her side.
Grover stood up, running toward Jeffery as well. But Jeffery screamed as a huge energy pushed all of them back. A dark aura steadily outlined Jeffery's body.
"You will not keep me from my mission," Jeffery said.
"Which is?" Grover asked
"To inflict darkness upon the world," Jeffery said.
Percy scoffed. "Sorry not gonna happen."
"Oh, I beg to differ," Jeffery said.
Everyone watched as Jeffery grew bigger and bigger, as wings sprouted out his back. His human skin ripped away. Revealing dark purple fur with red eyes and large fangs.
"You will fall!" Jeffery shouted.
Everyone merely smirked as their aura's shined bright.
"We don't think so!" They all yelled.
Everyone jumped in the air with their weapons ready to finish Jeffery off for good.
Nadine busted through the inner part of the chamber. The walls were lined with pink crystals. She looked down at sliver platform that had a hold in the center. That's where the staff needed to go. While she didn't have it, she knew she had to do something. With a deep breath, Nadine jumped down onto the platform and walked toward the center.
Gritting her teeth, pink electrical energy zapped Nadine's body as she moved closer and closer. Before reaching the center a huge wave of pink lighting struck Nadine causing her to drop to her knees. Ignoring the pain, Nadine's eyes lit up as a pale pink light lined her body as she walked toward the center. The lighting continued reacting even more so due to her power. Ignoring the pain as tears flooded her eyes, Nadine held up her hands.
"I need to do this…time to let it all go to save everyone…Veronica I am sorry."
More and more power rose withing Nadine, she screamed as a massive power of pink energy flowed through her body.
Outside with the other sensory's who were still blasting at the dark bubble. Veronica stopped when a pain hit her heart. Rubbing her chest, Veronica's eyes glowed as a voice echoed thought her head. The other sensory's could feel it too a strong force had just been release. Another pink energy formed around the dark bubble steadily making it smaller and smaller.
"I am sorry Veronica."
The pain in her heart increased as tears flowed down her cheeks.
"Child…." Veronica said, as she disappeared.
Henry nodded as the other sensory's finally broke through the bubble as Vivian's body floated down into Henry's arms. Wincing Vivian opened her eyes.
"Welcome back," Henry said.
Vivian smiled. Tina, Thomas and Samantha breathed a sigh of relief. Everyone looked at the chamber as the tower crumbled all around them.
"She will be fine," is all Vivian said before closing her eyes.
Looking to the others Henry disappeared. The others looked at each their hands as they disappeared too.
In the chamber Jeffery laid on the floor tore between his human form and demonic form in a pool of blood. His breathing grew less and less. He laid there with multiple stab wounds all over his body. Even a few body parts were cut off. Looking at his hand he saw his body fading.
"No…." he said followed with coughing.
Percy, Annabeth, Grover and Vincent looked over him.
"Good bye," Vincent said slicing Jeffery's head off.
Percy pats Vincent back.
"Uh guys," Annabeth said pointing to the chamber corridor collapsing behind them. Everyone ran off toward to the main chamber.
Bursting though the main chamber doors the four of them shielded their eyes as the power in there was so intense, they could barely move. Once they were inside the door closed behind them. They all watched as Nadine screamed as pink energy formed around her body before shooting out though the hole at the top of the chamber.
"It's not enough power!" Annabeth screamed.
Grover looked on in silence, he swallowed hard. He went to move toward Nadine, but Percy and Vincent pulled him back. Annabeth refuse to let her tears fall she watched.
"You got this, Nadine," Grover said.
Nadine screamed as her body felt like it was being rip apart. Deep down she knew this would have to be the only way. If only she could live to be in the world. She had so many places she wanted to see. She finally found friends; it must be fate to only enjoy a moment of happiness.
Nadine felt an arm wrap around her body. Looking down she looked into the eyes of Veronica whose body glowed just like hers.
Silly child…you have grown so much now come, let's put things right.
Jamming the staff in the center, Veronica's and Nadine's aura's lit up engulfing the whole room as a huge pink light shot out of the chamber engulfing it and the world. Shouts and scream echoed all over the globe as people danced in streets for the gift of speech had finally been returned to world.
Within a clearing not far from where the tower once stood, Percy, Annabeth and Grover appeared by a rock. Nadine appeared laying on the ground next to Veronica. Both of them smiled. When Nadine sat up Veronica didn't move. Grover helped Nadine up as the others ran over, to join them. Vincent appeared by Veronica. He looked down at her body that was bruised form head to toe. Vincent kneeled down as Veronica looked up at Grover, Nadine, Percy and Annabeth.
"We did it child." Veronica said.
"Yes, we did…but are you okay? Nadine asked, with worry across her face.
"Oh, what's with the sad face, I may be in a lot of pain and can't move my body, but I am fine I just need to rest."
"Rest. that sounds like a good idea," a female said behind them.
Percy, Annabeth, Grover, Nadine and Vincent looked as an owl landed transforming into a woman with long brown hair and pale brown eyes.
"Sorry about earlier I am Vivian, the Goddess of Sight and Queen of the Sensory's. "Vivian said, bowing.
"It's nice to meet you," Percy said.
"Same here," Annabeth said.
Grover nodded.
Vivian walked over to Veronica who looked back up at her.
"Hurts, doesn't it?" Vivian asked.
"Nothing that can't be cured with a bit of rest." Veronica said, wincing as a surge of pain ran through her.
Henry appeared leaning on the rock. "Yeah, rest sounds nice,"
Tina appeared beside him, "Yeah all that fighting wore me out,"
Samantha appeared. "True, but who will take care of Nadine?"
Thomas appeared. "Oh, I don't think we have to worry about that."
They all looked at Nadine who looked back at Grover, Annabeth and Percy.
"Um, I was wondering if I could come back with you three to Camp Half Blood?" Nadine asked.
The three of them smiled.
"Of course, you can Chiron will be more than happy to welcome you," Grover said, looking back at Annabeth and Percy.
"Definitely," Percy said.
"I can't wait to teach you some fighting moves," Annabeth said.
Vivian clapped her hands. "Then its settled."
Henry, Tina, Samantha and Thomas walked over and hugged Nadine. The four them waved to Percy, Annabeth and Grover before disappearing. Veronica looked up at Vincent.
"Vincent, you're going with her too," Veronica said
"I go where you go, " Vincent said.
"I know," "Nadine I will never be too far away," Veronica, said as she disappeared.
They all watched as Veronica's essence went into the staff. Nadine walked over as the staff floated in the air. Griping the handle Nadine held it close to her chest.
"Thank you,"
Vincent stood up and cleared his throat bowing to Nadine. Vivian watched as Vincent walked over and stood by Nadine.
"You have grown up so much my dear," Vivian paused. "May your time among the demigods help you grow even more." And remember if you ever need us all you have to do is call."
Nadine smiled. "I will, good bye Vivian."
Vivian shook her head, "See you later."
Vivian snapped her fingers and portal appeared before Nadine, Percy Vincent, Annabeth and Grover. The image showed the front gate of Camp Half Blood.
"Come everyone let's go home," Percy said.
Nodding everyone stepped inside. The moment the portal disappeared Vivian transformed into an owl and as she flew up and disappeared among the clouds.
