From Adversaries, To Friends, To Family

Summary: As a world cruise taken with their wives comes to an end, Peter and Neal discuss upcoming events in their children's lives.

AN: Looking at the number of stories I had dealing with grief and mourning over Neal's death, I suddenly felt the need to right one more drabble (or double :), to finish this collection with a positive post canon Peter & Neal story. So I quickly wrote this double drabble. Sorry if it's a bit rough, but it really was a last minute thing late one night.

Despite some turbulent times in the early years, a friendship that should never have existed between a lawman and his criminal quarry had matured into one that had been rock solid for well over two decades now. The men and their families had shared many holidays, and family milestones, together over the years. But with all their children grown and leading their own lives, this world cruise had been just the two couples. While Elizabeth and Sara were busy planning future family get togethers, Thanksgiving at the Burke's, Christmas at the Caffrey's, their husbands stood side by side at the ship's railing watching New York slowly appear on the horizon.

"The graduation ceremony is in two weeks. You'll be there?"

"To see your son, my godson, graduate Quantico and become an FBI agent? Nothing could keep El and I away."

After a few minutes silence, Peter said, "Neal refuses to tell us the baby's gender. Has Ellen said anything to you or Sara?"

"No. She's insisting on keeping it a surprise." Grinning, Neal added, "but if it's a boy, maybe they'll name him after his father or me."

"A third Neal?" Peter laughed, "let's hope we have a granddaughter then."
