"Peggy, you alright?", Steve asked as he turned his attention back to her since most of the remaining German forces defending the area were retreating south through the roads and hedgerows while he could see off in the distance the landing crafts only several hundred feet away from making it ashore.
Peggy smiled, reassuring him, "I'm good, Steve. Just still buzzed up, that's all. So, wanna keep going to push the Germans back or help out the folks at the beach to get ashore?".
Steve replied, "We pretty much cleared the beach, they should be fine. And yeah, let's keep going and push Jerry back to the motherland. Did I say that right?".
"Fatherland, Steve. The Soviets are defending their motherland.", Peggy chuckled as Steve smirked and nodded.
"Right, right... still a whole lot of Germans between here and Paris for sure; probably going to be busy all morning.", Steve said as they suddenly were buzzed by several allied planes. "Those guys are in a hurry...", Steve said as he noticed them running back towards England. "Almost like something spooked them...".
Peggy looked back, and gasped, "Steve, it's her! Eris's back!", looking in the distance of perhaps 2 miles off, to see Eris standing on one of the ridges, holding pieces of planes in her hands.
"Damnit...", Steve rarely cursed but this certainly deserved it. "Thought she was still on the Eastern front... or at least in Calais...".
"Steve... she'll tear up everything on the beach if she reaches it...", Peggy said. "I know, I know.", Steve glanced back. "Can't contact the battleships... nor would they be perfect with their aim against her...". He bit his lip as both of them were quickly rushing through their head about what to do and how they could fight her this time.
Peggy exhaled, "Can you make more animals, Steve, but tell them to flank around her quietly, and when she's distracted, you make balls and spears from the rocks, while I do fireballs and fire spears?".
"Well, it's certainly better than nothing. Now I kinda wished I didn't smash up all those 88s; they might have helped.", Steve said as Peggy patted him on the back.
"It's alright, maybe you can try making some big guns of our own... if you can.", Peggy smiled reassuringly. "Never tried... but might as well; I can still make all the other stuff.", Steve exhaled determinedly with a nod.
Peggy nodded and kissed him on the lips shortly yet passionately before letting go, "We will get her.", smiling at him and then went on to hide and crawl in the forest that's trailing up from the village to the ridges, waiting for Steve's animals to go distract Eris.
Steve quickly went to make more animals, faster ones, along with smart ones, telling them the order of flanking Eris, and they then went off, quietly and sneakily into the forest, with Steve then making cannonballs, bullets, spears, and any other weapon he could remember about while going off to the other side of the minor valley.
Peggy watched Eris as she walked closer from the ridges into the minor valley, and within minutes, the animals went to attack Eris, acting like pests and such around her, and Eris was annoyed, trying to swat them off, to flick them off, to smash them, to stomp on them, but Steve was quite detailed in his orders, distracting Eris long enough for Peggy to get close enough to shoot fireballs, fire spears, and even fire swords from the left side, with Steve coming from the right side to shoot his cannonballs, bullets, spears of his creations, hitting Eris all at once.
Eris grew enraged, furious and determined to end those tiny giants at once, and despite the emerging wounds on her, she made a huge jump, the force when she landed, the winds and such blew the animals away, rattled everything, and caused the two giants to fall.
Before Peggy knew it, she was grabbed by Eris tightly, and with a snarl in German, 'See if you can survive this!', and then she threw Peggy like a human cannonball, going for a few miles, destroying ridgelines, watchtowers, even a couple of newsreels planes, and eventually, crashing into a castle.
Peggy screamed all the way, trying to turn on her fire powers, needing to fly, and with a few attempts, she slowed down her descent, but not enough as she feared, unknowing that her unborn daughter is awake, sensing the danger, and created a force field, the biggest she could around her mother's body, infusing with her fire power.
Steve was horrified to see his beloved, his queen thrown like that, but Eris was getting atop him as he screamed Peggy's name and narrowed his eyes angrily as he dodged Eris's hand, getting into a run, and jumped, punching her on the face, his soldier instincts on all cogs firing up, unknowing that Peggy is alive and well, but in pain.
Peggy was shocked that she was unscathed mostly when she discovered that she didn't black out or anything, but she is in total pain, much more than anything she'd imagine, and not even the pain of the change could compare, but she is also angry, furious that Eris got another one on her again!
She narrowed her eyes, turned on her fire powers, becoming the Human Torch, and grew the intensity as she ran out of the ruins of the castle, diving down, and finally kept the fire going as she properly flew for the first time. A flare of pride came through her heart, realizing that she finally did it like Erskine said.
Peggy flew back, hard and fast, straight for Eris, seeing Steve clobbering Eris while dodging her in his jumps, leaving her to be open from the back, and Peggy knew what to do. She created a shape of fire, creating a lightning bolt, big as her yet light and strong, and with a roar, "Eat this, bitch!", impaling Eris in the heart.
Eris's eyes were wide open as she glanced down to see the fatal strike in her chest... her eyes quickly grew dark as she slowly fell over and crashed into the ground. Steve just barely got off her just in time to keep himself from being crushed by her like he had falling off a collapsing horse. The two of them took a few breaths as they tried to regain themselves from what just happened; still stunned by the sudden turn and the fact that they accomplished the main goal of why they were who they were: to destroy the Nazi giantess.
Peggy smiled as she took a couple steps to get off Eris, and as she turned off her fire powers, with the adrenaline wearing off, she suddenly doubled over in pain, unknowing that her water bag broke at the moment she impaled Eris in the heart, and now she's experiencing full-blown contractions. But Peggy only thought when Eris threatened her earlier before she threw her, Eris must have somehow inflicted venom or something into her skin, and now...
"Peggy...?", Steve looked at her before realizing that something was terribly wrong. "Peggy!", he shouted as he got next to her while she laid down. "Peggy, stay with me, love, stay with me!".
Peggy looked at him with fear and pain in her eyes, "I think Eris poisoned me when she grabbed me...I feel like I'm in so much pain...", before crying out in pain from another full-blown contraction, and Steve looked horrified and scared as he held her hand, "I'm here, Peggy, please don't leave me!", caressing her hair.
Peggy looked at him, "I don't wanna die.", with a sob, "Please don't go anywhere.", and Steve kissed her lips before looking determined to hold her, "I ain't leaving you alone. I'm right here.", gently moving her head into his lap, as he wrapped his body around her, squeezing her hand.
Every three minutes, Steve's heart clenched in pain as Peggy cried out, tears falling down her face, unknowing that their unborn daughter is pressing on her hips, moving through the womb, with the birth canal widening up to let her through slowly and steadily.
As the minutes shortened down, Peggy whimpered, "It's getting really hard to breathe. Can you please open my suit?", and Steve nodded, "Anything for you, my queen of my heart.", freeing her from her war outfit, pooling around her feet.
"Just... just keep holding on... we'll get Erskine here or something... we'll, we'll find out what happened.", Steve said as he was starting to panic before he noticed her area around her groin was soaking with her underwear. "Peggy... did you mess yourself?".
"What? No, I know I didn't...", Peggy quickly snapped back as Steve looked a bit closer, "No, wait... I don't think this is urine... I think it's... water?".
Peggy blinked in surprise and confusion when she heard that, and then she remembered her mother's story of her own birth and exhaled in shock and horror as she checked the math, "It's too early. It's too early...", a sob breaking out, thinking that she's having a miscarriage-labor combination, unknowing that their unborn daughter is already developed to 9 months old, just in the size of 6 months in giant style for she had remained small the entire time, not wanting to grow up too much suddenly to cause complications to Peggy's body, waiting for her moment to grow once she's outside in the world.
"Too early for what?", Steve asked her as Peggy shook her head. "Steve... I don't think I'm dying... I think I'm giving birth!", she shouted.
Steve's eyes widened in horror and shock, "What?! But...but...wait, Eris...she grabbed you tightly...", his heart breaking, "Can you stop it?".
Peggy shook her head, giving out sobs, "I can't! Please, Steve, get my underwear off...I have to push...I can't keep it inside or I'd have infections...", tears falling.
Steve nodded as he quickly followed that order. He got her underwear off and sure enough, she was already very dilatated, leaving no shadow of a doubt that she was indeed giving birth.
"Yeah, you're right about that...", Steve said as Peggy nodded. "We'll figure out how soon, right now, I just need to get our child out...", Peggy sighed heavily.
Steve kissed her temple, "Breathe, Peggy. I'm so sorry...", for he checked the math as well...It would have been any time from their first time in love making...It's too early...And the technology is really lackluster in saving pre-mature babies as it's the 40s, and with being a giant baby as he could suspect, in the middle of nowhere, it's bad...
"It's alright, Steve... we didn't know." Peggy admitted as she kept trying to keep calm and was slowly going through the contractions.
Steve nodded heavily, caressing Peggy's shoulders as Peggy breathed through the contractions in the next few minutes before she felt something dropping in the birth canal, and she took a deep breath, pushing as she cried out in pain.
Steve kissed her temple, squeezing her hand, "That's it, my queen.", watching Peggy take deep breaths, push after contractions, crying out in pain for the next several minutes before Peggy gasped out as she felt the baby's head emerging, "Steve! It's coming!".
Steve came around her, looking, "I see it! I see hair! Keep going, Peggy!", ripping his cowl off his head to create a nest below Peggy and the baby's head, his hands staying in place to gently hold the head.
Peggy screamed out in pain as she pushed, the head and shoulders passing through, and Steve held the baby immediately, feeling a pulse in the little neck, "God, it's breathing! Peggy, it's breathing!", tears falling in both happiness and despair, realizing that he and Peggy will only have a few hours with the baby as it's so small in his hands.
Peggy sobbed, feeling the same as she pushed out the legs, and as soon as the baby sensed that she was out, she grew up in Steve's hands, all the way to 9 months in giant baby size as she then wailed out her first cry of life, clearly alive and fully developed.
"Oh, my god, she grew, Peggy! She grew! We have a daughter!", Steve sobbed happily as Peggy saw the entire thing, seeing her wiggling daughter in Steve's arms, blood and water and such, but her daughter is so beautiful.
"Is she?", Peggy looked. "She's alright! She's practically full grown, certainly not premature!", Steve smiled as he looked around for something to help clean her up with; eventually settling with some tarps that the Germans were using to try and camouflage their equipment and weapon emplacements.
The baby was stubborn with her daddy as he fussed over her, cleaning her up, and Steve laughed heartily, "You truly got your mother's temper.", and the baby cooed happily as if she's proud of that before crying out of fear and surprise as she tucked herself in, turning invisible.
"Where is she?!", Peggy gasped, and Steve replied, "It's okay, I feel her in my arms, she's just invisible.", looking back to see what scared his daughter, and saw a couple of recon planes...He knew they were there to aid the Normandy landings and all...Did they see all of this too including Eris's death?
Steve narrowed his eyes, taking upon a protective, angry look, shaking his head at the planes, and immediately, not wanting to get crushed to pieces by a giant soldier, let alone a new father on top of that, the planes left, turning around.
Seeing that the planes were gone, the baby turned visible, cooing quietly, looking up at Steve, and Steve kissed her forehead, "Don't worry, Daddy is here. Looks like you're shy too.", smiling as he fell in love even more, noting her straight locks of rich brown, and her eyes are deep blue like his, having Peggy's nose, and his skin tone of tan.
Peggy reached out, "Let me have her, Steve.", and Steve walked over to her, placing their daughter in Peggy's arms, and Peggy smiled tearfully, "So, you were the one who was giving me gas and bellyaches.", as the baby gurgled, and then gave out a hungry whine.
Steve chuckled, "Let me help you there.", removing Peggy's bra, and Peggy brought the baby closer, and within two seconds, the baby latched on, drinking her first brunch. Peggy breathed, "Susan...I want to call her Susan...", looking up at Steve with a smile.
"Beautiful name for her.", Steve smiled as he sat next to her while getting a few more tarps to give them their privacy.
"Would you like to pick her middle name, Steve?", Peggy asked as he nodded, "Certainly... how about Violet? Does that sound right for her?".
Peggy smiled, "Close, but I was thinking more of Viola. You know, like 'Here I am!'.", and Steve smiled, "Susan Viola Carter-Rogers...It's perfect...", gently caressing Susan's head as she suckled Peggy's milk.
"Actually, that fits much better... since she really did just pop out of nowhere with us.", Steve chuckled as he rubbed his daughter's cheek gently. "Couldn't have let your parents know you were coming? Certainly made us worry at times as I'm sure you heard.".
Susan looked at her father for a moment, still suckling, and whined as she tried to adjust herself as her cord is still attached, and within a moment, she cast a force field to cut and cauterize the cord, and shrank the cord remains into a belly button.
Peggy looked at her in shock, "I don't know what that was, but the belly button, she shrunk it down to normalcy without needing a clip or scissors...", and Steve murmured, "Maybe Erskine has a better idea of what that was, but she is definitely able to have powers of size-changing and invisibility. Maybe that's why she kept herself small when she developed to full health all those months otherwise you would have a huge belly bump the entire time, and we wouldn't have been here...".
"Well, it certainly would explain a few things... she's certainly full of surprises.", Peggy smiled as she kept rubbing Susan's back while she ate. The two of them turned their attention back to Eris's body, still somewhat stunned that they pulled it off. "I think she was too confident in herself... don't you agree, Steve?".
"That she thought herself practically invincible because of her height?", Steve snickered. Peggy nodded lightly, "Yep...And Steve, I finally did it. I flew.", with a proud smile.
Steve kissed her lips with a smile, "That's great, Peggy. I swore it was a huge fire blast at first between glimpses when I was fighting Eris. The way you impaled her...You looked magnificent.".
Peggy smirked, "Thank you, luv. It felt good.", with a chuckle, and looked down at Susan, her eyes turning soft and motherly, "We have a daughter...I truly thought I lost the chance of motherhood.".
Steve smiled, caressing Susan's little tufts of hair gently and warmly, "I thought the same...She's alive, strong, beautiful, and all ours...", as Susan looked up at him, finishing her brunch, cooing with an adorable burp.
"That's right, Susan Viola Carter-Rogers. I love you, my little princess.", Steve replied warmly, and Peggy nodded, "I love you too, Susan, my little miracle.", kissing her forehead as she then yawned, reaching for Steve.
Peggy laughed softly, "She knows that you're her personal heater too, like for me.", gently passing her back into her father's arms, and Susan yawned again, snuffling as she tucked herself into his chest, falling asleep, content and warm. Peggy then glanced at Steve, "You hyphened her last names. Don't think I misheard that.", with a smirk.
