"Hey Tony have you seen my pen?" McGee asked, looking around his desk.
"Here," Tony tossed a biro at his head. McGee caught it with lightning reflexes and Tony was impressed.
"This isn't my pen."
"It's a pen. What does it matter?"
"A lot. The pen I'm looking for is black with a white skull and heart."
Tony cocked an eyebrow.
"Abby gave it to me," McGee mumbled and Tony nodded in understanding.
"And you went and lost it?" He clucked his tongue.
"No! No, I didn't lose it. I always keep it locked in my drawer. Someone must have taken it." By this time, he was rummaging around frantically amongst all the paper on his desk.
"Who'd wanna ta-" Realization hit Tony as he thought back to yesterday when he'd been snooping through the Probie's things. "I think I know who's got it Probie!"
Tony stood up and walked to Kate's desk. He took a paperclip and expertly broke into her drawer.
McGee was more than surprised to see Tony retrieve his pen from Kate's drawer.
"Kate took my pen?" He was confused. He took it from DiNozzo's hand and examined it. "There's no pen in it. I mean… no ink. It's an empty cylinder." McGee looked through it at Tony who was smirking.
"Told you she was crazy. Stealing and dismantling your own pen! She should be stopped!" He tried to look serious as he stamped his foot.
"Why would she do that?" he asked, more to himself than Tony.
"Why don't you ask her yourself while I go to lunch?" Tony said, picking up his jacket as Kate walked into the bullpen.
"Kate… w-why did you steal my pen… and take it apart… and then lock it in your drawer?" McGee asked awkwardly.
"What are you on about?" Her eyes moved to the pen in his hand. "I didn't do any of those things! That's the thing I seized from DiNozzo yesterday. He was using it to spit paper balls at me!"
Kate and McGee both turned to where Tony was just getting into the elevator. He turned and waved at them as the doors shut.
"DINOZZO!"
