Hi.
There was a review mentioning the ice whistle only being able to be used once. Yeah that's true, but umm this one is special. Nico had it made for Percy specifically.
"Percy? Percy! You're alive!" Thalia surged forward, forgetting that this wasn't the same Percy.
The daughter of Poseidon let out a yelp and curled back into her ball. It made Thalia stop her tracks.
"Perce? It's me Thalia. Remember me?" she took a cautious step forward.
"Thalia?" Percy glanced up, "It's really you?"
"Yeah, yeah it's me." Thalia had tears pool in her eyes.
"You promise?" asked Percy. She sounded like a scared child who was lost. She practically was a scared child— no teenager who was lost.
"Yeah, I promise." Thalia took another step. She was treating Percy like a cornered scared animal.
"Can I- Can we get you out of here? We'll bring you back home."
"Y-yeah. You're not gonna give me back to master right?" Percy glanced around nervously.
"Mas-no, no your not coming back here." Thalia decided not to question it yet.
Percy gave a timid nod and tried to stand. Key word: tried.
Her knees buckled.
Thalia rushed forward to catch her, "I got you."
Thalia lifted her up bridal style. Percy shuddered at the warm touch and nestled into Thalia.
Her eyes started fluttering shut.
"Sh, you can sleep. I got you." Thalia hugged her tighter. She looked at the hunters.
"Let's call Artemis. The Olympians are going to want to know she's alive"
Reyna pulled out a silver moon pendant. She crushed it in her hand and silver dust scattered around. She waited for a second.
Flash
Artemis flashed in, looking around frantically.
"What? What do you girls need?" She stared at Reyna, worry covering her eyes.
Thalia cleared her throat, "We found someone." A smirk was plastered on her face. Percy may be covered in cuts, scars, bruises, and wounds, but they found her.
"Who is that?" Artemis squinted.
"Percy. We found her, but we have to get out of here."
Artemis' eyes were as big as dinner plates.
"C'mon link hands, I'll flash us to Olympus."
The girls linked hands. Thalia was awkwardly grabbing Reyna's hand, while still holding Percy.
Artemis glanced at Percy. She was lying asleep in a hospital bed at Olympus, which Zeus was not happy about. Artemis volunteered to monitor her. Poseidon was suspicious but Hestia convinced him to let Artemis watch Percy.
The assessment Apollo had done was not good. There were various cuts, scars, gashes, bruises, every type of wound. There were a few welts on her back, indicating that she had been whipped, Thalia confirmed that.
The girl whimpered in her sleep. Artemis hesitated- should she…?
She did, Artemis reached out to caress her hair. It was a tangled bird's nest, but Artemis tried. She didn't do this often, but– Persephone flinched away from the touch, even in her sleep. A frown snaked its way onto Artemis' face. She wanted to comfort Persephone, but every time she flinched away.
She tried to reach out again, but the girl sat up with a gasp. Her eyes were wide with fear when she saw Artemis.
"Please don't hurt me!" she pulled her arms over her head.
Artemis tilted her head, and stared at her. Thalia said Percy was scared of other people, but Artemis didn't completely believe her.
"I-I'm not going to hurt you. It's me Artemis." The moon goddess scooched a little closer.
The other girl glanced up. She peeped up like a baby looking at her mother after crying.
"You promise? It's not a trick?" she unfolded a little.
"I promise," Artemis offered a gentle smile, "I'm going to go get Apollo ok? He's going to check up on you."
"No! No boys please!" She yelped and curled back into a ball surprising Artemis.
"Ok.. I'll get Hygeia (I think that's how you spell it) and Hestia. That sound good?" Artemis was a little confused as to why Percy only wanted gi- Oh. Oh.
It clicked into place. She had been- Oh wow. Artemis cast one more glance at the cowering girl as she went to go Hygeia and Hestia.
"Why didn't you get me right away?!" Apollo and Poseidon said it in unison. They were both pacing in the throne room, while Hestia stood tending to the dim hearth. The flames flickered feebly. The hearth goddess sat there staring at the red and orange fire with blue tips.
"She was scared," Artemis stared at her hands, "We've all seen traumatized demigods before, but they would be on fight or flight mode. She's on flight mode. It's like fighting isn't an option anymore."
If possible, Poseidon's hair seemed to turn even more grey with worry.
"Explain." Grunted Apollo, his eyes narrowing.
"Her-She curled into a ball as soon as she saw me. Asked if I was a trick… Also, she doesn't want you to check on her, Apollo. She said no boys and curled into a ball. Her voice was so frightened. I think she was-"Artemis choked.
Realization clicked for the others.
"No" whispered Poseidon. His eyes went wide. Bessie's tank water started swirling.
"Moo!" The sea cow conveyed her discomfort.
"Calm down Poseidon." Hestia didn't look up from the hearth.
Artemis nodded her head gravely.
"I'm going to see her." Poseidon, who was still big sized, started walking out of the throne room. He had a determined expression, but there was an odd softness that not many saw.
"You can't" Artemis reached out to stop him.
He shot a withering glare at her, "I'm going to see my daughter."
The god of the seas continued striding past her. Artemis grabbed his upper arm.
"You can't." the goddess of the hunt repeated herself.
"I will do what I want and I want to see my daughter." He jerked away from Artemis' arm.
"She will be scared of you Poseidon." She bluntly stated the truth.
"No she won't." Poseidon shook his head in denial, "I'm her father. She'll recognize me."
"No she won't!" Artemis screamed.
"Yes she will!"
The two resorted to screaming at each other. Poseidon towered over Artemis. The goddess looked up at him as they screamed at each other. Her face was fierce, determined to protect the young girl.
Poseidon glared at her from above. His face set on seeing his daughter. The daughter that had been missing and tortured.
"Am I interrupting something here?"
The arguing immortals turned their head towards the door. Thalia stood there, her eyebrow raised. Percy was leaning on her should for support. She cowered slightly behind Thalia.
"No." said Hestia hastily.
"Percy!" Poseidon ran towards her. He became smaller with each step.
The girl's eyes widened as she yelped and hid behind Thalia. The father of Percy froze. She actually was scared of him.
"Hey, it's ok. He's not gonna hurt you." Thalia reassured her.
"Are you sure?" her voice was timid as she looked at Thalia.
"Mhm"
The daughter of Poseidon looked towards Artemis. Her eyes scanning Artemis' eyes for a confirmation. Confirmation that Poseidon is real.
Artemis gave her a small nod and comforting smile. Well she hoped it was comforting. Percy stepped out from behind Thalia and gave a timid wave.
That's when Poseidon realized that this wasn't the war famed, monster slayer, quest conqueror, savior of Olympus. No, this was a traumatized girl who couldn't trust anymore.
Her eyes no longer held the bright spark in them. The will to live and sass the gods. Her eyes were dim and filled with a sense of mistrust.
"Do you- Do you remember me?" Poseidon took a step closer.
"Dad?" Percy cocked her head like a confused kitten.
Poseidon nodded and offered her a small smile.
"Yeah, it's your dad. I promise." He reached out and offered his hand to Percy.
She glanced back at Thalia, looking once more for confirmation. The daughter of Zeus gave her a little nudge.
Percy reached out and took Poseidon's hand. He smiled and pulled her into a hug.
She stiffened at the contact. Every part of her body going rigid in his hold. He stared down at her confused before she hugged him back. She buried her nose in the crook of his neck and breathed in the scent of sea water.
"I missed you." She murmured, "I missed you so much."
"I missed you too." He cautiously placed a tender kiss to her head.
"I hate to break up the moment, but I need to do a more official checkup on Percy." Apollo smiled apologetically at them.
Percy stiffened once more. Poseidon tightened his grip on her.
"You don't have to if you don't want to. We can do it later." He whispered.
"Can you be with me? And Thalia and Artemis?" She looked up at him.
Apollo answered for Poseidon, "Of course, as long as you want that." He reassured.
Thalia stared wide eyed at the sheet of paper. It was every wound Percy had.
Knife cuts: check.
Sword slashes: check.
Poison: check.
Whips: check.
Broken bones: check.
Mental manipulation: check.
Used for pleasure (I'll let you decide what this means): check.
Burn marks: Check
The list went on longer. Every possible wound that Thalia could think of was on this list. Every thing.
When Percy had snuck out of the infirmary to find her she didn't think it was this bad. When she had first found Percy she didn't think it was this bad.
She crushed her copy of the paper. The wrinkly ball fell to the floor. The daughter of lightning stormed into Percy's room.
The latter girl jumped in surprise.
"Thalia, hi. Do you need something?" she sounded more confident that earlier.
"Who did this stuff to you?" Thalia sat down on the edge of the bed. She had calmed a bit.
"Pol- no one important. It doesn't matter anymore." She answered.
"Who. Did. This. To. You?" Thalia repeated her question.
"No one. If you don't mind I want to rest now. So please leave." Percy huffed. Some of her old confidence back.
Thalia jumped up quickly and landed on the floor with a
Thump
She saw Percy shrink back in on herself.
"Fine" Thalia waltzed out the room.
And completion. It's a short chapter..again. I'll try to update early.
