33- Sibling Love

Summary: Johnathan sees El get bullied and comforts her.

Requested by: Nobody

El walked down the courtyard of Lenora Hills High School.

She was wearing one of Hopper's old flannels, a plain blue t-shirt underneath, and some old scuffed up jeans that Max and her picked out at the mall.

"Oh, retard!" a voice called.

El sighed. It had only been 2 weeks since she moved and started here, and she already gained attention. Not in a good way.

El turned and saw a blonde head sashaying toward her.

"Nice answer in History." Angela "complemented."

El sighed. She'd gotten the answer wrong on which country America fought in the American Resolution. In her defense, it was confusing! It wasn't her fault that America has been in war with so many countries.

Suddenly her backpack was being ripped off of her back.

"Let's see what we have in here." Jake, Angela's boyfriend taunted.

El opened her mouth to protest but decided against it, having learned the hard way that protesting was not going to solve anything.

Jake ripped open her backpack, plucking her math folder out of it.

He handed it to Angela who opened it. She pulled out of a piece of paper that El immediately recognized.

Her math assignment.

The one that she worked the whole study hall on, making sure she got each question right.

"Wait!" El cried, then instantly regretted it. There was a chance that Angela might crumple it up and shove it back into her backpack and it could still be readable, but now, that Angela knew the importance of the paper, she was going to do much worse.

Angela smirked. She grabbed the top of the paper with two hands and prepared to rip it.

"No! Please! I worked really hard on that!" El cried.

"I worked really hard on that." Angela mocked. Without warning, just an evil look on her face, Angela ripped the math assignment in half.

"No!" El cried. Angela used this for fuel, ripping it in half again and then once more.

She threw it at the crying girl, then stalked off laughing with her friends.

El dropped to the ground, picking up the pieces of her math homework, wishing Will hadn't stayed late after school to ask their art teacher some question.

"El!"

El turned and her older brother running toward her.

Johnathan sat in his new friend's van, thinking.

Should he try it? Argyle had been waving it front of his face since the 2nd hour they had met. It might take the edge off.

Before he could decide, something caught his eye.

His little sister was in the middle of the courtyard, facing someone.

Johnathan smiled; his little sister was making friends.

That was, until a boy ripped her backpack of her back.

Johnathan knew bullying when he saw it.

He ripped the van door open and froze. He didn't know why, but he did.

When Angela ripped up a piece of paper in front of El's face and El started crying, he then started to run.

"El!"

El turned, tears streaming down her face.

He guided her toward the van, sitting her down in the corner.

"Are you okay?"

El shook her head. "My math homework," she started. "They ruined it."

"I bet you worked really hard on that." Johnathan said.

"Yeah." she whispered.

"Tell you what," Johnathan told her, sitting next to her. "I'll help you with your homework."

"Really?" his younger sister looked up at him.

"Yeah!" Johnathan wrapped an arm around her shoulder.

They sat like that for a moment, until Johnathan spoke up.

"El?" he asked.

El hummed.

"If you ever get bullied like that again," Johnathan told her. "Tell me. I'll help you."

El looked at him in the eyes and nodded.

"Good."

The siblings continued their hug, knowing that no matter what happened, that they would be there for each other.

Because that was sibling love after all.

AN: Hope you liked it, Nobody! Thank you all for comments and reviews, they all mean a lot to me! Writing Angela bullying El is hard for me for some reason, so I hope I did alright! Requests are open!
