Chapter 10
An hour later
Sitting across from Rasa, Grimhilde softly smiles as she sees her tea had done its job as Rasa's eyes glaze over. "You will stop trying to kill our son and become the father he needs. What all our children need. Do you understand?" She whispers into his ears.
"I do, and I will." Rasa responds to his wife's words.
"Good. Now off to bed you go, I'll join you a little later." Grimhilde orders him before leaning back into her chair with her gaze drifting towards the fireplace, ignoring Rasa's response and departure as her mind slowly drifts to thoughts of days of old.
Flashback
"Rumplestiltskin, here is my payment." Grimhilde tells the troll-like man standing before her while handing over a small bundle holding a blond-haired baby girl. "My child. Please take care of her." She asks him as her gaze softens when she looks at her daughter one last time.
Rumple looks down at the baby girl with long golden locks and lets out a sigh. "I would rather the girl be a son. But, I shall take her. Know this tho, If I ever hear of you having a son, I shall come for him." He told her as he vanished into thin air with laughter filling the old castle tower.
End of Flashback
Grimhilde balls up her fist as she turns away from the fire that brought back so many bad memories. "You shall not take my son Rumple, dette or no dette." She growls out as she stands up from her chair and gathers up the tea cups and pot telekinetically. Skillfully levitating them to the kitchen so the servants can dump the rest of the tea and clean the pot and cups, before heading to bed herself.
Next day
Grimhilde stands before her children in her office, all five of them sitting close together while, except for Eveline, looking at her with dead tired eyes. ''Mother, it is 7 in the morning, its to early.'' Henry complained, Kankuro and Temari backing him up. Usually, no one would complain about their mother calling them to talk about something important so early, but they are still partially drugged and so more tired than usual.
A sad smile and small laugh appeared on Grimhilde's face at her son's complaint "I'm truly sorry dear, but I had to gather all of you here to discuss something." She told them.
"What would that be, mama? Is it about what happened last night?" Eveline questions Gaara wrapped in her arms with his teddy bear still being held by him as he still hasn't gotten over what had happened last night.
"Indeed dear, I've learned since then that the Wolf Ninja was targeting Gaara specifically, and that you were all but a ''Bonus'' to the one after him. As such I'll need to make several moves to ensure your safety from the man that sent us the ninja who desires my first born son." Grimhilde told them.
"What do you mean someone is coming for Gaara because he's your first born son? How does that make him special enough to want to kidnap him?" Eveline Demands with anger seen written across her face while holding her baby brother tighter.
Grimhilde then lets out a heavy sigh. "I am sorry to drop this upon each of you. But It is my past coming back to haunt me and hurt my family." She told them with tears gathering in the corners of her eyes.
Henry stands up and pulls his mother into a hug. "Mama it's alright. Please do not worry, just explain everything to us and together we'll find a solution." He tells her with a reassuring voice and smile, not much more awake.
Pulling away from the hug, Grimhilde lets out a sigh as her eyes slid over her children once more. "When I was younger, I met a man. A man that offered to teach me to become a Sorceress." She told them as she held her hand up to stop her children from questioning her.
"Each and every one of you knows that I am not normal like the rest of the people. I do not use chakra like normal people do. I use magic instead." Grimhilde tells them while making her point across by conjuring up a blue bird that sings a few notes before flying out an opened window in the office.
"That we are all aware of that Mama. But what does kidnapping Gaara have to do with this man teaching you Magic?" Henry questions his Mama.
"I was just a teenage girl, when I met Rumple. He was a troll of a man who tricked people into insane payments. The only way a person wouldn't have to pay him is by guessing his name. But my deal was different from all the rest, I knew his name from the start and used it to summon him so he can train me in the mystical arts." She told her children.
"So, with you already knowing his main trick. He had to find another way to make you pay for his services?" Questions Gaara as he slightly sits up on his sister's lap.
"Yes, sweetie. He did." Grimhilde answered him.
"The new payment he came up with was my first born child. He hadn't told me though that he wanted a male child, but nonetheless I had given him my first born as promised. A daughter I had with a young farm hand. I had truly loved him, but he had turned on me once he had found out…..that I studied in the mystical arts." Grimhilde told her children.
All five of them blinked at her with Gaara, Henry and Eveline looking more sad than the others, seeing the clear hurt and heartbreak written all over their mother's face and body. "So...the child you were going to have with him…you just gave her up to that man? Without a second thought?" Temari questions her mother almost accusingly.
Causing a saddened Grimhilde to look over at her stepdaughter. "Yes, I had named her Evie. A simple and sweet name. And I've given it a great deal of thought, Temari believes me. But a deal was a deal and if i did turn back on it, it would have meant mine and Evie's death, i had no choice in the end." She answers quietly and honestly with a hint of resolute regret.
"And now that he found out you married father and you had Gaara… he wants him right?" Kakuro questions her as he looks over at Gaara, who seems to be thinking about something.
"Yes." Grimhilde answers him with a sad smile. Before she could say anything else, there was a knock at her office door. Looking over at the door, she calls out. "Come in."
The door opens to reveal a sand shinobi standing in the entryway of her office, scroll in hand. "Lady Grimhilde. There is a letter for you." He tells her while bowing and extending the scroll to her.
She arches a brow at the scroll in suspicion, but reaches out to take it nonetheless and gestures for the ninja to leave, which he does with a silent nod. Her eyes studied the mysterious scroll carefully until she spotted the seal of the Hidden Leaf on it. 'So, she figured out I was alive and where I have been hiding uh?' She thought to herself with a slight smile. The only being she's ever known to rival Rumplestiltskin in power is dear Maleficent herself. If she can rekindle their old friendship and forge a new, better alliance between the Sand and the Leaf, Rumple will not know what hit him.
"Who would be sending you a letter out of the blue Mama?" Henry suddenly questions his mother as he watches the seal on the scroll. He's seen it once before, but it was in Rasa's office, when he was sending messages back and forth with the Hokage of the Hidden Leaf.
"It appears a dear old friend of mine has finally found I still exist and where I have been. Perhaps a problem with dear old Rumple might have an easy solution." Grimhilde answers her son as she moves around her desk, sits down and undid the seal on the scroll to read it.
Back in the Hidden Leaf
Maleficent smirks as she feels her old friend breaking the seal from the scroll she had sent her. 'Good, she received it. Now, how will she handle that fool she is married to? Shall she become the new Kage or shall she keep him as her puppet?' She wonders to herself as her toxic green eyes glance at the Shinobi council seated before her.
"Gentlemen and Lady Tsume. Now that the Genin exams are done with all the children passing with flying colors, and the civilian council under lock and key until their trial, I would like to speak about something a little bit more important: The up and coming Chunin Exams. With this, I would like to find out what villages shall we send invitations to?" Maleficent questions as her eyes land on the Jonin Commander, Shikaku Nara.
Shikaku clears his throat. "At the moment we received confirmation from Suna, Iwa and Kumo, along with a new upstart village in the Land of Tea, as well as from the Land of Rain. Kiri is out of the question due to the civil war still raging on." He tells her with a sigh. "Aside from that, we shall be receiving more until we are just two months away from the exams." He adds.
She nods her head to him. "Thank you, Shikaku. What else will we be needing to prepare for the arriving shinobi?" She questions while looking around the room.
Ibiki stood up as he had been seated off to the corner. "We will also have to arrange housing for the Genin Teams along with their sensei's. Then when it comes to the 3rd round of the exam, we will have to arrange housing and protection for whatever Kage shall show, along with the Lord of the Land of Fire, and other Lords of the other Lands." He tells her.
She nods her head once more. "I see, it will be like when I was younger when the Kings/Queens would hold Balls, as well as tournaments and their foolish grand weddings and announcements of child births." She spotted it. "This shall be interesting to see how things shall go." She told them as she smiled.
Her toxic green eyes lit up. "I do believe we shall have a festival during the tournament. It shall provide entertainment for the civilians as well as shinobi not partaking during the Chunin Exams. As I know between the second and third exams the Chunin Hopefuls shall be training for the final stage of the exam, I do believe the night after the finals are over we should have a Ball or whatever you wish to call it, to congratulate those who will ascend to Chunin and the young genin who put all their effort in the task. I do believe they will more than deserve it, and it will bring more money to the village as well as more vendors and more tourists who want to travel to watch our hopeful future Chunins. What do you say?" She told them as her eyes sparkled with a smirk.
Hisahi suddenly stands up. "I agree with your plan, Lady Hokage. And would like to request leaving the main preparations of the ball to the Hyuuga clan" He asked the new Kage of the village, hoping to gain extra favor from her and maybe get close enough to retrieve Hinata eventually, he hoped at least.
Maleficent's eyes glance over towards the head of the Hyuga Clan. "A generous Offer Hiashi, but I've decided to appoint the Yamanaka and Akimichi clans for the ball preparations. But don't fret, your clan will help as well by providing housing for the Genin Teams." She declared, causing Hiashi's face to shift from hopeful to disappointment and shock. ''But Lady Hokage, it is forbidden for non Clan members to be housed within the compound, they might try to steal secrets or kidnap them for the Byakugan. I'm sorry but i must politely decline.'' Hiashi tried to reason with the woman, but all that did was harden her gaze while her eyes lit on fire.
''That was not a request from Hiashi, but an order from your Hokage, and I expect you to follow it if you wish for your clan to remain in this village. As for your fears of your secrets being stolen by are guests, i suggest you keep a better eye on them then you did with the Kumo ambassador who tried to kidnap your former daughter.'' Maleficent said with a tone of finality, forcing Hiashi to silently nod and set back down. 'The elders will be so pissed about this.' He thought.
Turning back to the main subject, Inochi stands up next. "On behalf of my clan, I thank you for your trust in my clan preparing the ball, Lady Maleficent, but what would you want to do for the ball?" He questions her.
She smiles softly at him. "You mean you haven't figured it out, Inochi? You who's clan owns the best flower shop in the village. You will be incharge of decorations and flower arrangements of course. In fact, you should put your daughter at the head of the flower arrangement company, talented as she is, I'm sure it will be magnificent." She tells him.
Inochi smiles back at her. "As you wish my Lady, and thank you for those kind words." He said.
Then Maleficent turned to the head of the Akamichi clan ''As for you Choza, I put your clan in charge of preparing the food to be served at the ball. I will require quite a spread made of many different dishes that will appeal to many different pallets, think you can handle it?" Maleficent asked him with the utmost seriousness.
Choza stands up with a grin on his own face. "It will be an honor and pleasure for Lady Hokage. Fear not, the food will be ready and time and plentiful." He assured his Hokage.
"Excellent. Also I would like for you to supply me with the names of the civilian's you trust with handling food for the ball. I want to make sure none of them will try to poison any of the dishes out of spit against me" Maleficent requested of the larger Clan Head.
Choza chuckles at Lady Hokage's words. "I wouldn't dream of it, Lady Hokage." He tells her before sitting back down.
Maleficent smiled while nodding her approval towards the large man . "It's settled then. Now we need to get back to the matters of our own future Genin Teams." She begins.
Elsewhere
A man with long dirty blonde hair sits in a dark room only lit by a single candle's light, gazing into a crystal ball. "Oh my dear little Grimhilde. My dear little Raven, I shall have what I want, like it or not." He tells himself with a chuckle.
But that chuckle was cut short along with his smile, which vanished and turned into a look of worry when the image in the crystal ball shifted to reveal a VERY familiar Fae, talking to the ninja clan leaders of the Leaf Village as if she were their Kage. ''Maleficent!? here after all of these centuries!? But how?'' The man whispered in disbelief, if this really is the former Queen of the Moors back in the game, then it doesn't bode well for his business.
Back in the Hidden Leaf
Maleficent stands up declaring the council meeting over for today, causing all the clan leaders to get up as well and leave. Without the Civilians council and the ninja Elders making a huge fuss or causing trouble the meeting had gone smoothly, so now they can all return to their previous duties.
"Lady Hokage." Call a Chunin running towards her as she exited the meeting room.
"What is wrong?" She questions him with an arched eyebrow.
"It is Your daughter Nahiko. She's done it again M'lady" The Chunin beings.
"And what has she done ''again'' exactly?" Maleficent questions as her staff appears in her right hand.
"She has painted the Hokage Mountain. Now all the former kages look like over painted Hookers" The man tells her.
Maleficent just chuckles at her daughter's antics.
Hokage Mountain
Sasuke crosses his arms over his chest as he looks down towards his sister's handy work. "And do tell me why you thought this was a wise idea?" He questions her as Nahiko smirks at him.
"Well, momma did say to keep her shinobi on their toes. If they are unable to notice me painting the Former Hokage Faces without a civilian pointing it out, well then, It would appear, the Jonin Commander and the other Higher ups are slacking on making sure their shinobi are well trained. As far as I know, the ANBU are supposed to be the ones protecting our Hokage's Faces, yet I was able to paint all 4 faces and no one tried to stop me, so where are they?" Nahiko questions, bringing up an excellent point.
Now Sasuke arches a brow as he slowly turns his head, looking around for the ANBU that normally are seen patrolling the mountain face.
"My point exactly. No one is here, and It appears they haven't been here for about two days now. We both know there is a secret passage not too far from here that ANBU uses to enter the village. There should always be an ANBU here to keep watch of the entrance. I have one of my clones there and they have found no one, not even a trace of blood." Nahiko points out to her brother as her momma and the random Chunin appeared before the two of them.
"Please explain to me my dears. Why did you paint Hokage Mountain once more?" She questions her daughter standing before her as her toxic green eyes move towards her son.
"I am just her lookout." Sasuke answers her as he turns his head to look down the mountain face.
Nahiko frowns at her momma. "Well, it's because something isn't right here Mama." She answers honestly, causing Maleficent to arch a raven brow at her daughter's words. "Do explain." She encourages her daughter.
"The ANBU assigned here have been missing for about a day or two. No one has kept an eye on the hidden ANBU entrance and no one within the village once again but for a civilian spotted me painting the faces once more." Nahiko told her momma with a deep frown, marrying her face.
Maleficent frowns while looking down at her daughter. "You have investigated the area already?" She questions the girl.
"Yes, I have. I've sent out a team of my elemental clones to find any clues on why any of the ANBU stations here have vanished." Nahiko explains as she narrows her eyes upon the Chunin standing next to her mother, who was just frowning at her.
"Her clones have not returned yet. We have been waiting here for about an hour now." Sasuke answers as he turns and looks at his mother, his onyx eyes narrowing upon the man as well. "Do we have a problem, Chunin-san?" He demands as he moves to stand before his sister. Using himself as a shield if the man oh so dares to try anything against her.
Now Maleficent looks towards the man standing besides her, her toxic green eyes softly glowing as smoke escapes her lips. "Yes, do we have a problem Chunin-san?" She demands softly.
"No…no Lady Hokage. I just wonder why you are allowing your children to handle the manner that shinobi should be handling." The Chunin answers her.
The two kids snort at him. "That's an easy answer. We run around this village all the time and know all the hidden passages as well as the not so hidden passages within the whole place. We have also found weak points along the village walls and forest surrounding our home." Nahiko answers him with a smirk on her face.
Shock is clearly written on the man's face. "I…I..hadn't known that." He answers the girl standing before him, seeing her a little differently than before.
Suddenly, an ice clone appears before Nahiko. "Boss, we found something. You need to come and check it out." The Ice Clone reports to the girl.
"Alright. Lead the way Frosty." Nahiko orders her clone as they follow after her.
Outside the ANBU Entrance
Several Ice Clones surround the body of an ANBU with a snake lying next to it. One of the Clones stares at the lead clone.
"Do You know what this means?" Growls out the lead Clone towards the frightened Clone.
"I do, It means we are screwed if that snake is sniffing around the village." Growls out the Clone.
Clone number 3 then glares at her sister clones. "That is enough for you too, the boss lady and her mom have arrived so hush." She hisses at the other two, stopping their fighting just as the Original Nahiko, Sasuke, the Chunnin and Maleficent arrived.
Maleficent giggles at her daughter's clone's antics. "Now girls please, enlighten us upon your findings." She orders the girls.
"Yes, ma'am." They answered as one.
The Lead Clone takes a step forth. "We found the body of an ANBU agent passed out at the moment from the bite of a snake. The snake in question is a sunnon that We managed to kill and prevented the corpse from being summoned back to the summoning world." She tells them.
"But the only Snake summoner left within our village is Anko-chan." Clone N.2 response from beside her ice clone sisters.
"It wasn't one of her summons though. This snake has different markings from the Summoning Clan she made a contract with." The Lead Clone answers with her own frown upon her face.
"So, it appears he wants to find his way back into the village?" Maleficent questions the Ice Clones.
"Yes, it does appear so." Answers Clone N.3 with her own frown. "This does answer many questions now." Nahiko speaks up as she walks towards where the sleeping ANBU lays.
"And what questions does that answer? Sasuke questions as he turns to look at his sister with an arched brow.
Nahiko looks at her brother and then the others. "Like why on cooler days I had spotted snakes moving around the village when naturally, they should be sleeping or hiding somewhere warmer. Even on those days Anko didn't call upon her summons, unless she was in a room with the heat on." She told them.
"Then it appears we hadn't taken out all the snake bastard's pets from the village yet." Sasuke grumbles out, knowing what it means. He had heard the rumors of Orochimaru attacking his 'brother' for his body several times already, and it appears that he's going to try yet again.
"Yes. It also means that I shall be having a meeting with Ibiki, Commander Dragon, as well as the Jonin Commander Shikaku Nara." Maleficent sighed out as her toxic green eyes looked towards the Chunin. "Bring me Commander Dragon and Commander Nara at once." She orders the man frozen before her.
''Y-yes my Lady Hokage." The Chunin stutters out before going up in a swirl of leaves.
She then looks to her two precious troublemakers. "You two know what this means? For the time being I do not want you to tell your sisters about this. They already have too much to worry about." She orders her two children.
"Yes, mama." They answered as one.
"I am going to enjoy the expressions on their faces once they see this." Nahiko said with a wicked smirk on her face as one of her ice clones picked up the dead snake summons and placed it into a baggy for Anko to look at. Maybe one of her summons could check it out and tell them what type of snake it might be and if they are able to draw out any of its venom for potions.
Maleficent watches her daughter as the girl's eyes sparkle while watching her clone with the snake. 'She is just like my beasty. Oh how I miss her at times, but with my new little beasty and her siblings here, I will never be alone again.' She thought to herself as footsteps could be heard coming their way.
Sasuke moves before his mother, standing before her glaring at the three men that she had wanted to speak to. But hadn't called for the third at the time, only for two. "What took you two so long? Why are you here Ibiki?" He demands, not caring if he is showing the three powerful men disrespect.
Ibiki chuckles as he crosses his arms over his massive chest. "You know kid, you have a massive pair of balls on yourself. No one speaks to me in such a disrespectful manner and lives to tell the tale." He tells him as his smirk turns deadly.
Sasuke scoffs. "I do not care, respect is earned Ibiki. It isn't given freely to anyone." He tells the older man standing before him.
"Well said." Maleficent speaks up from behind her son while glaring at the three men standing before her. "I called only two of you here for a reason, not for Ibiki. Still, it is good that you are here Ibiki, there's been a breach of security once more within our village walls. As one of the heads of security and commander of the Konoha Torture and Interrogation Force i wonder, how could something like that happen under your watch." She tells them as her voice becomes deadly.
Ibiki's eyes widened slightly. "I had checked this passage just a month ago, but I had been so swamped with seeking out a new seal master to fix several of the weakening seals upon the village walls, I hadn't had the time to do this month's checks ." He answers her honestly.
Maleficent narrowed her toxic green eyes upon the man standing before her. "Why hadn't you brought this matter to me?" She had questioned him.
Ibiki's own eyes hardened as he returned her glare. "I had brought it up to our former Lord 3rd Hokage." He growls out between grit teeth. "He had told me not to worry and that once Jiriaya had returned to the village during the Chunin Exams he would have the man fix the weakening seals. But I had felt it would be too late by then, so I've been forcing my men to sharpen their seal knowledge, but to be honest, we need a real seal master." He tells her with a sigh as he looks away from the woman.
Her right hand moves up to the bridge of her nose. "This isn't faring too well for our Former Hokage and his current new position. He should have sent for that old fool sooner. It doesn't matter, I shall have him here soon even if I must have him dragged here kicking and screaming." She told them with a sigh before looking up to a tree branch where her crow sits, awaiting his Mistresses commands. "Off and find me that fool that calls himself the Toad Sage." She orders him with a stomp of her staff, and the bird flies off to carry its task.
Meanwhile, Commander Dragon along with Shikaku had moved around their Hokage and Ibiki to check on the ANBU that Nahiko and her clones began poking with a stick. Dragon looked at the girl from behind his mask. "Nahiko?" He questions causing the girl to pause from poking the ANBU in the side.
"Yeah?" Nahiko questions him as she looks up at the man crouched next to her.
"Why are you poking him?" Dragon questions her as he gestures to the stick in her left hand.
She grins at him brightly. "His breathing is slowly changing. So, he should be up soon, but I want him to wake up faster so we can find out how this happened and what happened to his partner." She answers him as if she was speaking about the weather.
Dragon just grunts as he hears the man give a slight painful grunt when one of the ice clones kicks him on the side of his right leg.
Shikaku for his part just shook his head. "Troublesome." He grumbles to himself as he turns to face his Hokage. "What do you need from me, Lady Hokage?" He questions her, having a feeling on what he might have been called for.
Toxic eyes are now upon the Jonin Commander. "Your Jonins have grown slack once more. Even the Chunin in charge of watching Nahiko and Sasuke couldn't prevent them from getting away with painting the Hokage Faces once more." She tells the man with a harsh glare.
Shikaku gives another troublesome sigh as he closes his eyes. "I have been doing my best to keep them all fully trained. I have them in special refresher classes once or twice a week." He answers her. "So, I do not know why they hadn't noticed Nahiko's artwork before a Civilian had." He said as his black eyes moved over towards the girl in question.
Nahiko for her part, grins and sends a wink over to the elder Nara. Not giving anything away to him.
"Unless she had used one of those spells that is almost like a Genjutsu to cover her tracks while she was having her little art class." Shikaku questions as he turns to look at the girl again, whose cheeks are now slightly pink.
Maleficent looks over towards her daughter with an arched brow. "Well Nahiko?" She questions her.
First looking down at her sandals cover foot that is now drawing circles in the dirt, then she looks up at her mother. "Well, I might have used a spell for part of it. But, they should have still noticed the ripples in the air from my ice mirror illusion spell." She answers, now pouting.
Sasuke for his part, just snorts. "I told you that the spell worked too well, no one would have caught on until it was too late." He told her with an amused smirk on his face.
Nahiko narrows his eyes upon her brother. "Oh shut up Princess. You were not doing anything to help and all your spells sucks anyway, if we had used one it would have had everyone upon us before we could have even begun." She told him with a glare and slight growl to her voice.
"Huff…Whatever loser." Sasuke grumbles out as he turns away from her.
"That is enough for you two. We have much to take care of at the moment. We do not need you two using the village as your battle ground once more." Maleficent tells her two bullheaded children.
Nahiko lets out a huff as Sasuke closes his eyes looking away. "Sorry momma." Nahiko tells her momma with a frown on her face, Sasuke just grunts.
"Now we are going to have to find a way for them to see the difference between Genjutsu and Spells." Maleficent tells the man, knowing this will be more work for herself….unless she uses this as punishment for her two troublemakers. That is when her ruby lips grew into a grin. " And I do believe Nahiko and Sasuke will be more than willing to aid you with this training." She tells Shikaku with her smile never wavering.
While the two teens looked over at her with horror in their eyes.
"Well, the classes will be interesting, that's for sure." Shikaku comments to himself mostly.
Meanwhile, Commander Dragon stands up, then turns to face the others. "Well it appears he will be fine. But, there's a question that is on my mind: Why hasn't Lord 3rd not told you about the weakening seals? As his successor, albeit by conquest, he should have informed you upon handing over the hat." He questions as he glances back at the man that is slowly coming too.
"I am asking myself the same question. Why would he neglect to tell me something very important to the village's safety?" Maleficent questions out loud, making the three powerful men with her wonder themselves.
"Because the old monkey has his own personal agenda that he is trying to carry out." Kurama growls out as he opens his crimson eyes to look out of his cave.
Nahiko grows stiff at hearing this from the demon sealed deep within her. She blinks and looks over at her momma and to the three men while Chewing on her bottom lip, figuring that she might as well tell them. It wouldn't hurt. Would it? "It is because he has his own personal agenda to carry out." She tells them, causing the men's eyes to widen and Maleficent's eyebrow to c***.
