The Letter He Never Wrote
Dear Hermione,
I hope things are going well for you and your family this summer. I miss you and Ron, everyone really.
I wanted to tell you that your friendship has meant so much to me, especially this last year. I very much appreciated all your help and support. I know I often didn't act as though I did; I was confused, frustrated, and scared, but I shouldn't have taken that out on you. I just thought I should tell you, in case you didn't understand at the time. But then, you are really smart, so maybe you did figure it all out in spite of me.
Your hug before I faced the dragon meant a lot to me. I'm sorry, though, that that horrible reporter turned it into something so embarrassing. I fear I have been the cause of much embarrassment to you this year, and I'm sorry for that.
I also thought you looked absolutely breathtaking at the Yule Ball. I hope you won't take it the wrong way if I say I never expected you to look so beautiful. I guess sometimes you just get so used to a person that you forget to actually see them. Of course, I think all the guys must have noticed you, even Ron—especially Ron. I'm sorry he said such hurtful things to you. You of all people deserve to be happy.
Anyway, I'm very much looking forward to our next year at Hogwarts. I know it will be difficult, and I'm sure we'll all have to face terrifying circumstances. I'm just thankful we won't be alone. We'll have each other, so it will be okay.
Love always,
Harry
