Angel

Author's Note: This is an old fic. but I decided to upload it here 'cause...I felt like it. Heh, but I'm also tired so I'm just gonna post what I wrote on Livejournal where I posted it first. Hee

Summary: So the Da Vinci Code movie came out, and I went to see it the very next day. I watched it and I did love the movie, especially parts with Silas/Paul in it, although I was a bit disappointed in how they wrote his death. Because of this, I started growing really attached to the book and its ending more. I wrote a fanfic that was based on the book. Technically, this involves Bishop Aringarosa, but Silas is the subject matter.

A cool wind blew in through the open hospital window.

Bishop Aringarosa was recovering. The doctors told him it was a miracle he survived, for he had lost so much blood. Bishop Aringarosa knew it was a miracle long before the doctors told him. He could still remember the night all too clearly. The last time he had seen him. He knew he was long dead by now, he had seen the newspapers.

Half naked albino found, dead in Kensington Gardens. Later confirmed and identified as the murderous albino fugitive the police had been searching for. By the time he had been found he had been dead for a good 4 hours due to blood loss from a bullet wound beneath his ribs.

Immeasurable guilt had taunted his mind ever since his consciousness. He knew he was at fault…he knew it was he who had sent his angel to do these horrendous acts…it was his fault that he would be remembered as a criminal and a murderer. He had read the word in the article…murderous. No, not the Silas he knew. Murderous did not describe the Silas he had nursed to heath so many years ago.

Bishop Aringarosa brought up shaky hands as he bowed his head in prayer. He prayed for forgiveness and for Silas' soul. He was misguided…and because of this he left this world with blood on his hands. He prayed for forgiveness that he knew he could never receive…not from the man he needed to forgive. He could feel the tears welling in his eyes. Silas was like a son to him…they had saved each other's lives…they had built a church together. So many dreams, shattered.

A cool wind blew in through the open hospital window. Bishop Aringarosa did not move. He continued to pray, desperately. His eyes slowly opened, though, as he felt the sensation of a presence within the room. He lowered his arms and scanned the clearly empty room. He didn't hear the door open…and the room was indeed empty…but…

"Our Lord is a good and merciful God."

Just as quickly as the presence came, it had disappeared but Bishop Aringarosa was left with tears streaming down his face. Dear Lord…that voice…it was Silas' voice…just for a moment he had felt the albino beside him, whispering into his ear. It was then that Bishop Aringarosa knew…and the tears streamed down his face in joy. He once more bowed his head, and raised his hands in prayer.

He knew…he had finally become an angel…the pure, white angel he had always told him he was. He was there now…with the angels in heaven…watching over him. His angel.
