You may have read the Memoirs of my friend, Fayt Leingod. If not, I'd suggest you do.

Because, you see, he got a lot of things wrong. He was entirely absorbed in just himself almost the entire time I knew him before we defeated the Creator.

He never saw many of the things that happened. And he never cared to notice them, either.

My name is Maria Traydor. You've probably heard of me in the news, or you'll read about me in a history book some day.

Because, you see, I was one of the 10 people that saved our universe. Though I'm not so sure that 'saved' is the right word to use. Maybe by the end of this book, you'll understand my hesitation.

For the Executioners were not the real, true threat to our way of life. But more on that later. For now, be content in knowing that you exist, and that you are free. Freer than the air you're breathing, in fact. You can move across the Galaxy… and yet air must remain within the confines of its atmosphere. Gas does not mix well with vacuum.
