A Lasting Love
"The love that lasts the longest is the love that is never returned"
I, John Sheppard, would have never believed this simple quote. Thirteen simple words squashed together by a man named William Somerset Maugham. I would have thought he was crazy, that he just made up the sentence so people would see him differently, so he would stand out.
I wouldn't have before, but I do now.
As I watch the only woman I have ever loved walk up the aisle, smiling as she is about to be married to another man, I feel like this man knew exactly what I was feeling when he wrote that simple, thirteen word quote.
But it's true. I love Teyla; but she will never love me. She loves him.
My love her will last forever, through trials and tribulation, it will stand the test, and prove itself. But it will never be returned. Never.
