Chapter 2
Down at Higher for Hire the business has been slow for a while since the season of shipment isn't supply and demand at the moment, which did not bother Rebecca for one bit. Why you ask?. Well, that is because she is one happy woman to be finally be reunited with her long-lost son. Both Kit and Rebecca have spent weeks bonding with each other and allowed Rebecca to be a loving mother that her firstborn has never had during his time with the pirates. Still, Rebecca had felt stupidity for waiting this long to even considering doing the blood test.
At this moment she was currently finishing up a few papers before taking Kit and Molly to a baseball game, in which she had brought the tickets not too long ago. It is something that the siblings both love and have in common. Rebecca was surprised to discover that her little girl has a great passion for baseball when watching her two kids play baseball, and see how great of a ball hitter she is while Kit is the same let alone a great runner. And best of all the three are huge fans of the Cape Suzette's Flaming Chargers baseball team. Smiling to herself when seeing she has finally finished balancing the books of her business, Rebecca begins closing up shop for the weekend and begin getting ready for picking up her kids.
"Kit and Molly are going to have a grand time at the stadium today. Especially when our seats are on the first floor." Rebecca told herself while putting a few things in her black briefcase.
Just when the only door entrance of the building begin to open wide and entered her number one pilot who had a smile on his face. He looked at his best friend/boss who was getting ready to head on out and not waste any single time.
"Hey, Becky, I see that you're heading to go pick up Kit and Molly. Say, you want me to drive you there and escort you three to your game?." came Baloo.
Rebecca slightly chuckled. "No thanks, Baloo, I got this one. And if I might add you're really trying your best to stay busy, after I claimed and moved my firstborn's stuff to his new home."
Baloo chuckled and said, "Well, Becky, I just want to help you in any way I can. That, and try to have my fair share with spending time with Kit."
"Well, yes, I can understand and I'm sure you will have your chance this weekend on Saturday, as I have a shipment order to fill for a few clients," said Rebecca, grabbing her needed things before taking off to her car after saying bye to Baloo.
The overweight bear smiled at his best friend before grabbing a seat in one of his slightly worn-out chairs and got comfortable. He looked up at the ceiling while his mind was still running on the memory of the day that Rebecca had told him and the others that Kit was her long lost firstborn. Heck, and she did it by having a big party at Louie's in which she rented the whole place for this special occasion. And what really both scare and shocked Baloo was that Rebecca was paying for absolutely everything, no matter how big the total bill was that night. The night that changed everything for the big bear.
*Flashback*
Every single animal from big to small was partying joyfully down at Louie's. The live music was jumping with people cutting the rug on the wooden dancefloor and acting as if New Year's Eve has just arrived early this year. There was a nice extra large spread of food with people who were working at the place was serving the meals for those who did not want to get up from their seats. Baloo was one of the people that is enjoying himself as he danced to his heart's content. With help of his orangutan best friend and owner of the place, both himself and Louie were doing congo line to make a few people join in on the fun.
As for the main guest of honor who was watching his friends party and while keeping an eye on Molly who was playing with a few kids at the beanbag table, before being interrupted by a big wide bowl glass of one of Louie's signature sundaes that stood in front of him. Kit looked up to see his mom smiling down at him before grabbing a seat right beside him before putting her arm around his neck to give him a warm hug.
"Enjoying our party Kit?.", asked Rebecca, when letting her child go.
"Well, yes, I am enjoying myself, Mom. But don't you think this is a little bit too much?. I mean think about how much you're paying after this is all over.", said Kit, both looking and feeling anxious.
Rebecca chuckled at this before handing Kit his spoon to eat the ice cream and said, "Oh, Kit, don't worry about how much mommy is throwing cash for this special occasion. Besides, I have not yet to reveal the reason behind all of this wonderful party."
Kit shrugged his shoulders and said, "Well, it's just that I never had something awesome as this. I just don't want you to feel that you owe me everything."
Rebecca can just only smile at her cub before getting the chance to remove his cap and begin messing up his hair. This made Kit laugh a bit at this before feeling his hat being placed back on his head. Then his mother said in deep honesty, "To tell you the truth, I owe everything to you sweetheart. I should have known you were my kid when I first laid my eyes on you when we first met. Then over the few months, you show so many signs that you had the same traits as your father."
Kit looked at Rebecca with the interest of hearing about his biological father and said, "Such as?."
"Such as your love for flying, sports, helping others who are in need, and you're great with children both your and Molly's age. And most of all, you most certainly love the endless adventures.", explained Rebecca, while having the moment to remember her dead husband with a sad smile.
Rebecca quickly changed her sad smile into a good smile when noticing that Kit is staring. Before the two could say a word to each other they were stopped by their most beloved favorite pilot who is cheerful as ever has before losing both his air service business and his precious Seaduck to Rebecca, due to not paying off his loans from the bank for so long and rounded up losing his deed to everything to her. But sooner or later he became to accept the fact of working for her and try to buy his plane back from her but, things have not gone to plan based upon his history of getting rich quick schemes.
"Hey, Becky this is the best party that I have ever attended since my high school class reunion.", said Baloo, eating a few mangos from his big bowl of fruits.
Rebecca chuckled at the nice comment that Baloo made and said, "Why thank you so much for that wonderful comment of yours, Baloo. I paid no expense for this wonderful party."
"Yeah, no kidding. Say, I don't want to be rude or anything but...what is the special occasion?.", asked Baloo, before taking a half bit of his kiwi.
Kit looked up at his mom who is currently grinning right down at him just before taking his hand and pull him with her towards the stage. Baloo took his seat to have a good view to see his best friend take the microphone once before ordering the music to die down. This made everyone stopped from what they're doing and came up to hear what Rebecca has to say. The feminine bear looked at the crowd while still holding Kit's hand right before taking the moment to gather her thoughts on to say.
"First off, I just wanted to thank every one of you to come to join this glorious celebration. Now, I know most of you have no clue as to what we're celebrating. But at this moment you will find out.", Rebecca holds Kit's hand tight enough before raising his arm, "We are celebrating for this young man who happens to be both my firstborn and long-lost son, Kit Andrew Cloudkicker."
"Say what!?.", Baloo choked on his apple and have to cough it out of him.
Some of the crowd were gasping at the news while the other half just clapped for Rebecca and Kit's reunion. Baloo managed to stop choking and see a tearful Molly who is now hugging her long-lost brother with joy, while also see Rebecca came up to him with a friendly smile when offering her hand to him in which he took it. The two sat down at the table to talk more about this as Baloo wanted the details on she discovered that Kit is her son. The information was truly shocked but official true when hearing about the matched blood test and now begin hearing about moving Kit's things to his new home.
"But Becky...", Baloo got stopped by Rebecca.
"Baloo, Kit is my baby cub. I owe him everything. The boy has never experienced a loving family let alone be in a safe environment. Don't worry tho, Kit will spend time with you like always. It is just him living with me and Molly now."
Baloo sighed, and then can not help but smile at the thought of Kit having a real childhood and have a real family to call his own, "Okay, Becky. I'm with you every step of the way."
*Baseball Stadium*
"Whoa, mom these are the best seats ever!. I can see everyone on the field.", said Kit taking a bite of his new york style hotdog.
Molly nodded in agreement before saying with a mouthful of extra cheese nachos, " Yeah, and I can not wait to catch the baseball with my baseball mitt."
Rebecca smiled at both of her kids just before taking a drink of her fresh cold concentrated lemonade. Ever since she picked them up from school the two never stopped talking about going to see the baseball game. Even the two were talking about which player is their favorite and how they copy their moves when playing the game. As for Rebecca, she can only watch the two siblings play the game at the park and see how well the two can master the sport.
"The game hasn't even started yet and you two already talking about catching the first baseball that comes our way.", said Rebecca, chuckling.
Molly laughed and said, "Sorry, Mom, but me and my big brother just love a good game of baseball!. Boy, you have got to love to slide through that dusty clay dirt."
"You can say that again, Sis. This game is going to be great.", said Kit, watching the first round of the game.
The three watched the game and cheered loud for the home team that is leading the game in a big way. Kit helped Molly onto his shoulders once the two spot their male favorite black lion at the pitch and watch him swing his golden bat at the ball, and catch the ball right in Molly's mitt just when seeing where the ball is heading. Rebecca can only watch her kids celebrate a job well done and have to take a family picture with the baseball in mid-center. Next, the three continue watching the whole game to the very end and cheered for the win. After the game, Rebecca took Kit and Molly to meet the players and have their baseball and mitts signed by one of the all-stars.
"This is awesome. I can not wait for you to come to my school for bringing your parents to the class day, Mom. Now, everyone can believe me that I am no longer considered as an "Orphan".", said Kit, seating on his mom's bed with his pajamas on.
Rebecca poked her head out of the bathroom with a toothbrush in her mouth. The drool of toothpaste begins running down on Rebecca's chin that made Kit burst out laughing at the sight. Rebecca quickly spits the paste out of her mouth before continuing to brush her teeth and talk with her cub.
"Of course sweetheart!. Anything for you and Molly. That, and did you mention that you've made a bet with one of the kids?.", Rebecca asked, taking a seat next to Kit.
Kit slightly nodded and said, "Well yeah, but don't worry about that. It's not super important. Yet."
"Yet?. What do you mean by Yet?.", Rebecca raised her brow with interest.
At that moment, Kit has thought up a good way to make sound good before saying it to his mom who is waiting patiently, "He promised to give me something worth wild. I don't know what it is but knowing my friend, he has got something good that he is willing to use as a wager in our bet."
"Very well, I will have to see it once you obtain it. You want mommy to tuck you in after I do the same with Molly?.", Rebecca talked through her teeth brushing.
Kit shook his head, "No, I'm good, Mom. But don't worry about Molly, cause I will tuck her in before hitting the bed. Night."
Once Kit hugged his mom with a kiss, Rebecca can not help but think that her son's bet with his friend must have to involve something adventurous. The reason why she thinks like this about her son is that Kit reminded her about her husband, knowing he had the taste for an adventure even if he goes after it or the opposite. Strangely for Rebecca, she is hoping that her gut is telling the truth as that is one of the reasons that she has fallen in love with Kit and Molly's father. Being in the air force is one thing, but wanting to find adventure just drives her wild in a good way in secret. A secret that she was good at hiding when having adventures with her best friend Baloo.
"Like father like Son and Daughter.", Rebecca said to herself before going to sleep.
Also knowing that her daughter as well inherited that same gene from her father. It just put a smile on Rebecca's face when snoozing off into dreamland.
