Welcome back to The Injustice Wars! Last time, Belial Aether, acting on a distraction from Blaze and company, managed to slip deep into the Shaolin temple, discovering the sources of the energy signature that drew them to this place in the first place: A figure in blue that can apparently command cold and a man in a giant hat that commands lightning. And as we left, they were rushing out to join the fight going on in the rest of the structure. So, who are these two? Read on to discover...

(Our tale resumes back outside in the temple courtyard, where absolute chaos is still unfolding. Captain Avarice is still fighting off Lobo on his space chopper while trying to deflect incoming heat vision from Superman, who is in turn being fired upon by Darkblood while both are being attacked by Blaze. Meanwhile, Blue Beetle and Firestorm are fighting off Black Adam and Joker simultaneously while Flash, Supergirl and Starfire are battling Wonder Woman and Darkblood's trio of zombie villains led by Enchantress.)

Blaze: (In her mind) Come on Belial... I really hope you've got this energy source on your side by now! We're not going to be able to hold out much longer!

(As this happens, Captain Avarice has managed to aim her ion cannons at Blaze, and is staring down the sights at her)

Avarice: Tell ye Ancestors that Captain Avarice sends her regards.

(And with that, Captain Avarice fires on Blaze, but Lobo notices and swoops in, getting her out of the way just as the cannons hit the floor.)

Blaze: (Completely stunned by what just happened) What the...?!

Lobo: You're welcome, kid! (Lands his space chopper long enough to let her off) Did you really expect me to let her disintegrate you?

Blaze: Well, I really didn't know what to expect from you, given what I've heard.

Lobo: It may surprise you to learn I have a moral code, loose though it may be. And one part of that is "nobody messes with the dragons."

Blaze: Seriously?

Lobo: I've heard great things about you, kid. You and your friends are the only ones who I'd never take a bounty on. Don't want to mess with that potential.

Blaze: Maybe there's an alliance to be formed here.

Lobo: We'll talk later. (Cocks his shotgun) Right now, I've got a pirate bastich to send to Davy Jones' Vacuum.

(With that, Lobo's space chopper takes back off and he starts firing at Captain Avarice again. And as the chaos continues to unfold, Darkblood has clearly had enough of it.)

Darkblood: ENOUGH!

(And with that, Darkblood unleashes a pulse of Dark Aether that knocks almost everyone to the ground, save for himself, Blaze, and Superman, who are now staring each other down "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" style, each waiting for each other to make a move, sweat dripping down their foreheads, each prepared for any of the others to make a move. Blaze glances nervously between her two opponents, somehow knowing she's probably the most outmatched in the circle right now, but fire still pours from the sides of her mouth. Superman's eyes glow red with heat vision. Darkblood's whole body pulses with Aether)

Superman: One of us is going to have to make a move eventually.

Darkblood: And once you do, you're dead.

Blaze: (Seeing something out of the corner of her eye, then with sudden confidence) Who says I haven't made my move?

(And just like that, Superman and Darkblood are struck by lightning out of the corner of the scene, just where Blaze's peripheral vision was looking. And soon we see exactly what she sees: Belial Aether accompanied by the individuals they came to track down: Raiden and Sub-Zero)

Sub-Zero: This kombat ends here.

Raiden: Unless you wish to test your might against us.

Superman: (Looks at Raiden) You seem... familiar...

Raiden: At first, so did you. But you are not the one I thought you were.

Darkblood: (Growls frustratedly) This is far from over.

(And with that, Darkblood teleports his forces out of the scene)

Belial Aether: Looks like today's been a pretty good one. We stopped the energy source from falling into enemy hands, and captured three of the heads of the Regime!

Superman: If you think you've captured us, you're out of your mind. (Into a comm link we didn't know he had) Victor, now!

(And just like that, a boom tube opens up, allowing Cyborg to enter the scene and fire a laser net from his arm cannon at the four standing combatants as Black Adam and Wonder Woman escape into the gateway behind him before backing in himself as Superman rejoins them.)

Superman: We will meet again.

(And with that, Superman and the Regime flee back to Kahndaq as Raiden uses his divine lightning to neutralize the net)

Belial Aether: Well, we almost had them.

(With that, everybody still there recovers from the earlier blow and starts trying to figure out what's going on.)

Blaze: (Seeing Raiden and Sub-Zero) I guess these two are the ones we sought?

Raiden: You guess correctly.

Blaze: Looks like you guys are with us at least.

Sub-Zero: For the time being, yes.

Belial Aether: They're under the same deal as the Turtles.

Flash: At least these two are on our side.

Lobo: And they're not the only ones. You can count me in as well. You'll need me to take down that bastich Avarice.

Blaze: Well, I'd say it's good to have you.

Flash: I wouldn't be too sure about this guy. Lobo's a loose cannon.

Belial Aether: That's why I'll take him on.

Blaze: Alright then, let's get back to the Javelin and head back to base. (To Lobo) Once we arrive, you're telling us everything you know about this pirate Darkblood's working with.

Lobo: Deal.

Blaze: Alright then, let's get back down the mountain.

(And as everyone descends from the old Shaolin temple, our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good place to wrap up for now. So, our two mystery figures were Raiden and Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat! And with them here, we've worked out all the guest characters from Injustice II's DLC. Add them and Lobo and the Republic is pretty much finished! There's only one or two more people left to recruit, and we'll be meeting them later on. So, what's going to happen next? Tune in next time to find out!
