Sweet Kalos Chapter 5

Calem, Serena, and Shauna had just received their third Pokemon.

Just as Calem left the lab he saw none other than Sina talking to a man with thick bright orange hair and a bright orange beard. He wore a black suit with red streaks on it. Not to mention he was tall and slender. Behind him stood a girl who was a little taller than Calem but looked to be the same age. She had black hair that came down to her shoulders along with a darker skin tone. She had dark blue eyes and wore a light blue collared shirt, black leggings, and brown loafers. She held a tablet.

Calem was able to make out some of the conversations. "So how have the new trainers faired so far?", the red-bearded man asked. "They've been making steady pace, one of them even has a badge from what I hear", answered Sina. "Hm, well I look forward to meeting them, they are the future of Kalos after all", the man said. Sina spotted Calem and said "Well Lysandre looks like you'll get your wish, here's one of them now", Sina said.

She waved down Calem and when he approached Sina said "This is Calem, he just won against Gym Leader Viola in Santalune City". "That must mean you received a Pokedex", the man said. "I did indeed sir", Calem said. "No need to call me sir, my name is Lysandre ", greeted the man.

"This young lady behind me is my assistant, Emma", he introduced to Calem. "Nice to meet you", greeted Emma. "It's nice to meet you too", said Calem respectfully.

"It's very wonderful that you received a Pokedex", he said. "It is?", said Calem in a confused tone. "It is indeed, it means young Calem that you are one of the chosen ones to fulfill the destiny of Kalos", Lysandre went on. "Really, I just thought it was to travel across Kalos", admitted Calem. "That's one part of it, but there's a deeper side to it", Lysandre mentioned. "Lysandre here has been studying about Pokemon for the future", piped in Sina. "Like a Professor?", asked Calem. "Yes, I do own Lysandre Labs, after all", Lysandre said proudly. "I've tried to learn as much about Pokemon as I can so we can all have a brighter future, for trainers like you Calem."

"So what else are you studying about Lysandre?", asked Calem. "My labs have also invented a device called the holo caster, it's a hologram device that allows you to call people", he explained.

"That sounds really cool, where can I buy one?", asked Calem. "No need, my assistant has one right here", Lysandre said. Emma pulled a blue device out of her tote bag. It had a small screen and a small projector as well. She handed it to Lysandre. "It's best to have a holo caster, it also keeps you updated on what's happening around Kalos using news reports", he explained.

"After all, knowledge is power", he said in a quiet, almost dark tone.

"Mr. Lysandre your lunch appointment with Diantha is waiting", said Emma. It seemed like Lysandre snapped back to reality.

"My apologies, I rambled on too much", he said. "Ah it's no problem", said Calem. "I would love to talk more about visions and dreams again sometime, but regretfully my cafe is on the other side of the city where the power outage is, so when the power is restored it would be a delight for you to visit", he said.

"Of course, I'll come and visit", said Calem happily. "Very well my boy, good luck with your destiny", Lysandre said. "Same to you, can't wait to come back to Lumiose City", said Calem. "I'll be off now", Lysandre said. "It was nice meeting you Calem, see ya around", Emma said with a smile. "Farewell Sina", Lysandre said. "Farewell to you as well", Sina nodded. Lysandre and Emma both headed off.

"I've always wondered what Lysandre means by the future", said Sina.

"I'm not sure but it seems like he means well and cares about Kalos", mentioned Calem. "Probably, it's always seemed like he's obsessed though", said Sina rubbing her head. "Anyways good luck with catching more Pokemon", Sina said. "Thanks, I'll try my best, I'm pretty sure Trevor is going to carry me though", Calem laughed. "Possibly, you're going to have to find a lot of Pokemon to keep up", Sina said with a laugh. "I'll see you around", said Calem. "Good luck again", said Sina. "Thanks", thanked Calem as Sina walked back into Professor Sycamore's lab.

Calem looked in his bag to see the roller skate add-ons. He had received them back in Santalune City after battling Rosalie the roller skater. "Might as well give these a try", he thought to himself. He sat down on the stair steps to the lab entrance and put them on. As he got up he nearly fell a few times but was able to keep his balance. "Hey this isn't so bad", Calem thought to himself as he hesitantly rolled around.

"Hey Calem, nice skates", said Serena from behind as she exited the lab. "Thanks, I got them in Santalune, just haven't worn them until now", he said.

"Well they're pretty nice, if you don't mind I would like to talk to you at Cafe Soleil, it's my favorite cafe and you can't miss it, it's straight to the left", asked Serena kindly. "Oh yeah, of course, I'll be there", said Calem. '`Do you want to walk there together?", she asked warmly. "Why not?", responded Calem.

Both trainers and neighbors walked towards the cafe. It wasn't far from the lab and Calem got to see more of Lumiose City. The apartments to the right did not look cheap at all. Neither did the office buildings. Before long Serena and Calem, both stood outside the cafe known as Cafe Soleil. It was a red cafe with white trim. "Let's go inside", Serena said.

Both trainers stepped inside the cafe. The cafe had beige walls, brown baseboards, brown tables and chairs, and red couches. There seemed to be something going on in the back. Several bodyguards stood next to a table. Sitting at the table was none other than Lysandre himself and a familiar-looking young woman.

Bodyguards surrounded them to keep the admirers back. The woman wore a white shirt, and a white blazer with gold bracelets, she also wore a white choker necklace along with white short shorts. To finish off her look she had an object that looked to be cloud-like wings.

"Look, it's Lysandre, and is that Diantha?", asked Serena. "I think it is", said Calem who remembered seeing her in several movies. "I've seen some of her movies", he mentioned. "Me too I'm a big fan", she said. "I wonder what they're talking about?", she said. "Well I remember Lysandre's assistant saying they had lunch together", said Calem.

"Interesting", she said.

"By the way, what did you want to talk about?", asked Calem. "I'll tell you later", said Serena hastily. "Ah alright", Calem said, not putting up a contest. "Both trainers were able to overhear part of the conversation between them. "You were absolutely marvelous in your last movie if I do say so myself", said Lysandre. "But one thing has been on my mind, wouldn't you rather stay young forever so you can play just about any role?", asked Lysandre.

"Well that's certainly a good question, I'm not sure I would want to though because I would be playing the same roles' ', she responded. "Nobody can stay youthful forever", she mentioned. Lysandre expression went from warm to somewhat cold as he said "Aren't you one of the most successful movie stars in this world, it should be your duty to remain beautiful is it not?". "It doesn't matter what it is, everything should be beautiful forever", he added in a cold tone.

"The thought of this world becoming uglier is sickening to me", he went on.

"Well sometimes change is inevitable", Diantha said in a hesitant tone. Lysandre scanned the cafe before spotting Calem and Serena. "Well hello there Calem", he said. "Let him and Serena through, they are to be trusted", Lysandre said to the bodyguards. One of the guards nodded and stepped aside for Calem and Serena.

"Wonderful to see both of you again", Lysandre said. "In case you don't know, this is Diantha, one of the most successful movie stars of the generation", he introduced. "Throughout her career she has dedicated her life to making others happy, which is indeed selfless".

"Ah well thank you Lysandre, I hope to do a lot more in the time I have", Diantha said in a wholesome tone. "Indeed", he said. "Well it's big honor to meet you, Ms. Diantha, my name is Calem", Calem said, introducing himself. "The pleasure is all mine", she responded, "And who are you young lady", she said directing her attention to Serena. "My name is Serena ma'am". "Both lovely names", said Diantha.

"Serena and Calem here are both chosen ones, they've both received Pokemon and Pokedexes from Professor Sycamore himself", said Lysandre proudly. "I'm a bit of a trainer myself when I'm not acting", Diantha mentioned. "I would love to have a Pokemon battle sometime", she said. "Me too, maybe when my Pokemon get stronger!", Calem said with glee.

"Calem has also received a Pokedex, he is indeed a chosen one", went on Lysandre. "That's very honorable indeed", Diantha said.

One of the bodyguards whispered into Diantha's ear. "Oh yes forgive me I got so caught up in our lunch that I forgot I have a photo shoot", Diantha admitted. "No need to apologize, you are a very busy woman after all", Lysandre said. "Thank you for your understanding, if you will all excuse me I will be off now", she said. "It was nice meeting you Calem and Serena, I hope to meet again sometime", she said to both trainers. "Same to you, good luck with the photo shoot", said Calem. "It was great to meet you as well", Serena said. "Lysandre, I'll see you around", said Diantha. "Farewell", Lysandre said as Diantha left the cafe with her bodyguards keeping the fans at bay.

"I'll talk to you later Calem, I have to get going", said Serena. "Alright Serena see ya around", said Calem. Serena left leaving Lysandre and Calem alone. "So my boy I hear you lost your battle against Professor Sycamore", Lysandre said, starting a conversation. "Yes I did unfortunately", Calem admitted. "That's no good my boy, how are you, the chosen one going to be an elite trainer for the greater good of Kalos", said Lysandre with concern.

"It was just one loss", defended Calem. "Yes but that's the problem, one loss can turn into more", explained Lysandre. "If you're going to be an elite trainer you need practice my boy", the orange-haired man said.

"I'll just battle against other trainers", Calem said. "You know Calem, I was a skilled trainer when I was your age, I'll help you out", Lysandre said as he got up from his table. "I'll be able to help you out with that", he said while placing a hand on Calem's shoulder.

"Well I do have some time to kill", said Calem. "Very good then, follow me and I'll show you the way", Lysandre said kindly.

They both exited the cafe. "What is your vision for your future young Calem?", asked Lysandre as they were walking. "Well I want to collect all the gym badges and maybe even challenge the champion, that's how it works here right?", asked Calem. "It is indeed, only time will tell if it's meant to be", said Lysandre, who almost seemed to be lost in thought.

They kept walking through Lumiose City. Most of the city was down due to power outages. They soon made it an area Calem hadn't seen in photos or in his short visit yet. It was a nicely taken care of plaza with a concrete battlefield that was unoccupied.

"Not many people know about this battlefield", said Lysandre. "It's been here for years, of course, this is where I trained when I was your age", he explained. "You can very well say this is a sacred place". "Then I'm honored to train here", Calem said in a wholesome tone.

"Let's get started, shall we", Lysandre said as he grabbed a Pokeball out of his pocket. Calem grabbed his new Charmander's Pokeball off of his belt. "I shall start", Lysandre said before tossing a Pokeball in the air. A small Pokemon that looked to be 3 feet tall was released. This Pokemon looked similar to a furret. It had a yellow head, faded red baggy arms, yellow hands, a red stripe across its neck, a yellow body, and red legs and feet. Calem whipped out his Pokedex, eager to learn from the man who took him under his wing.

"Mienfoo, the martial arts Pokemon, Mienfoo is a fighting type", he read to himself. "Well in that case I'll send out Charmander", shouted Calem with passion as he threw the Pokeball in the air. "Char char", cried out Charmander as it was released.

"It's important to know the type of battlefield you're dealing with Calem." "What kind of battlefields have you encountered so far?", Lysandre asked. "Well when I battled Viola she had a web battlefield that was tricky to use, and when I battled Professor Sycamore he had a dirt battlefield", said Calem.

"Hmm, you see each battlefield has its own advantages and disadvantages", Lysandre said in a lecturing tone. "You see, this concrete battlefield makes ground type attacks such as sand attack and dig impossible, meaning ground types would almost be sitting Ducketts".

"Are there other weird battlefields like Violas?", asked Calem. "Indeed, be prepared young Calem", Lysandre said. "I'll try", he said. "Let's begin shall we", Lysandre said. "Let's do this Charmander", Calem said with passion. "Mienfoo start with fake out", commanded Lysandre. Mienfoo jumped off the ground and smacked Charmander.

"Charmander counter with scratch", Calem called out.

Charmander quickly retaliated and slashed Mienfoo's body. Calem didn't want to depend on the Pokedex even though he didn't know all of Charmanders attacks.

"Don't be afraid to use the Pokedex Calem, it is a tool after all just not for catching, but for battling as well, use it to your advantage", said Lysandre in a commanding tone. "Yes, I just don't want to depend on it all the time", said Calem. "I'll use it more", he said. "Very good", Lysadre said.

"Now Mienfoo use meditate", called out Lysandre. Mienfoo closed his eyes and rested his hands. An orange aura surrounded him indicating a raise in attack. "Now use double slap". "Charmander use smokescreen quickly", shouted Calem. Charmander released a giant cloud of smoke. Before Mienfoo knew it he was lost in the cloud of Charmander's smoke. "Now Charmander use ember", shouted Calem. Charmander struck Mienfoo right in the chest with his fireball. Mienfoo fell back and popped to his feet. "Mienfoo use detect", commanded Lysandre. Mienfoo focused on Charmander.

"Charmander use ember once again", shouted Calem.

Once again Charmander shot a fireball at Mienfoo. Before it even got halfway there Mienfoo jumped out of the way.

"Now use double slap", commanded Lysandre. Mienfoo jumped to Charmander and swiftly slapped him twice. "Charmander grab on to him", called out Calem. Before Mienfoo could back away Charmander gripped onto him. "Now use scratch", commanded Calem. Charmander slashed across Mienfoo. Mienfoo laid flat on his back. "Hm very good", said Lysandre. Calem's Pokedex made a jingle that directed his and Lysandre's attention. "It looks as if your Charmander is capable of learning a new attack", mentioned Lysandre.

Calem looked down at his Pokedex as he read "Charmander learned dragon rage", to himself. "Very good, throughout your quest, you will learn that some Pokemon can learn certain attacks that others can't", Lysandre mentioned. "I will look out for them", Calem said. "Well then young Calem it looks like we're done here", Lysandre said.

"Thank you for helping me Lysandre", thanked Calem. "If you ever need help again just visit my cafe when this power outage is over", he said. "I would be happy too", Calem responded. "Until we meet again", Lysandre said. The two went separate ways.

Calem kept exploring what he could of the city, having to remain within the limits as most of the city was still blocked off due to power outages. He popped into shops, some of them had items that he couldn't even afford even if he had double the money he had now.

All of a sudden his new holo caster started ringing. He took his holo caster out of his bag and started clicking random buttons, not exactly sure how it worked since it was different from his Porygon phone.

He pressed a button and Tierno appeared in a hologram above the holo caster. "Ho Calem'', he said. "What's up Tierno '', greeted Calem. "Trevor and I are here on route 5, the Pokemon here are hopping,", he said with excitement. "You should get over here", he said. "I'll be right there", Calem said. "See ya then", Tierno responded as he hung up.

Calem made his way through the bustling city until he saw the gate with a big five on it. As he entered, a lady at the desk greeted him. "Welcome, this is the way to route 5, if you're leaving thanks for visiting Lumiose City, hope you visit again", she said like a robot as if she said it a thousand times before.

"Thank you, can't wait to come back", Calem said warmly. He passed through. On the other side, he was in awe. He stood on a nice clean pathway, trimmed shrubs, and on the right was a skatepark. "Watch out kid!", shouted a lady.

Calem regained focus to see a Lucario charging at him.

Before Calem could grab a Pokeball off his belt to defend himself, Lucario stood face to face with him. Lucario stared Calem down and analyzed him carefully. Calem was frozen, not sure how the Lucario would react if he made any sudden movements. "Lucario," yelled the trainer of Lucario.

She finally caught up after what seemed like an eternity for Calem. She had another Lucario with her. "What has gotten into you", she said in a flustered tone.

The trainer of the Lucario looked to be a couple of years older than Calem. From a distance, she looked like the roller skater who had given him the roller skates back in Santalune City. But this trainer wore a typical skater attire, her outfit consisted of a short white and red sleeveless skirt over black shorts, along with a white and red helmet on her head.

"I'm so sorry about my Lucario here, I don't know what got into him, it must have been your aura", rambled the trainer. "My aura?", questioned Calem. "Yes your aura, an aura is the energy surrounding you, I guess your aura triggered Lucario, you see Lucario can sense people's auras."

"Uh is that a good thing?", asked an unsure Calem. "It can be, it means you have a positive energy around you or it can mean you have an evil negative energy, but in this case, it seems like you have a positive energy", went on the trainer. Calem laughed and said, "It's because I'm such an evil mastermind".

The trainer let out a small sarcastic laugh before saying, "Well I better get going now, I'm running late to meet my Grandfather, my name is Korrina, it's a pleasure to meet you". "My name is Calem, it was nice to meet you", Calem said. "Let's go Lucario", said Korrina as she turned around. Lucario took one last look at Calem before going with Korrina.

Calem, who was still confused about why the Lucario charged him, kept walking as Tierno was expecting him.

After a brisk walk, he reached Tierno who had Trevor with him. Trevor was in the tall grass battling against wild Pokemon that was sitting on a flower. It was small and the flower was bigger than the Pokemon itself. Calem took out his Pokedex and scanned the Pokemon. "Flabebe", the Pokedex said. "Flabebe is a fairy type Pokemon" "Good to know", Calem said to himself. "Pikachu use thunder shock", commanded Trevor.

Trevors Pikachu landed a thundershock on the small flower Pokemon. Flabebe seemed gazed from the shock, this was the perfect opportunity for Trevor to attempt a catch. He pulled out a Pokeball and tossed it at Flabebe. One click, two clicks, three clicks. Trevor didn't say anything, waiting for the final click to secure the catch. Click, the Pokeball sparkled meaning Trevor had caught the Flabebe.

Trevor's serious expression turned into a huge grin as he realized he caught another Pokemon. "Alright another Pokemon in the Pokedex!", he cheered. "Nice catch Trevs", praised Tierno. "Hey Trevor nice catch", Calem said as he approached Trevor and Tierno.

"Thanks Calem, how did you like Lumiose City?", asked Trevor who still had a big grin on his face. "I liked it, hopefully I'll be able to see more of it once the power goes back on the other side of the city. "I know, it's strange, this is the biggest power outage I've ever seen in Lumiose, I'm sure these things happen though", Trevor said. "I'm sure it'll turn back on sooner than later", piped in Tierno. Calem nodded and asked. "Tierno do you know how far Camphrier Town is?".

"It's not too far, just a few hours of walking should take you there."

"Well I better get a move on then, the day is already half over", said Calem eagerly. "Wait Calem, before you go let's battle!", said Tierno confidently. "Sure, I'm up for that", Calem said with excitement. It was good practice for him since he didn't have many battles under his belt yet. Calem and Tierno found a clear grassy field to battle on.

Trevor stood to the side, prepared to cheer both of them on. "I only have two Pokemon on me, so we'll have to use two each", said Tierno. "Sounds good", Calem said eagerly.

Both trainers threw a Pokeball up in the air simultaneously. "Let's show Tierno what we got Chespin", shouted Calem. "Corphish, let' dance to victory", shouted Tierno.

Both Pokemon came out of their Pokeballs. "Ches, Chespin", exclaimed Chespin. "Cor Cor", Corphish exclaimed back.

Calem had the clear advantage with Corphish being a water type and Chespin being a grass type. Both Pokemon were staring each other down waiting to see who had the first move.

"Corphish use bubble", called Tierno. Corphish shot a series of bubbles at Chespin. "Chespin dodge it", commanded Calem. Chespin got struck by a few bubbles but minimized the damage by dodging the majority of the bubbles.

"Now Chespin use vine whip", called out Calem. Vines were released from Chespins body and quickly struck Corphish. "Cor", Corphish cried in pain. "Corphish are you okay?", asked Tierno in concern. Corphish nodded and was ready to attack.

"Alright then Corphish use vice grip", shouted Tierno. Corphish rushed after Chespin. Before Chespin could get away Corphish squeezed Chespin with his claw. Chespin squirmed, looking uncomfortable.

"Pin pin", cried the Pokemon.

"Chespin try to wiggle your way out", Calem called out. Chespin attempted to wiggle as Corphish kept his grip on the hedgehog Pokemon.

"Chespin try to bite Corphish", shouted Calem. Chespin bit Corphish's claw yet it had no effect as Corphish's claw was impossible to bite through. Calem was running out of ideas, Corphish had Chespin in a body lock while Chespin still struggled. A thought came to Calem's head, although it might be a longshot move it was better than nothing.

"Chespin try to use vine whip on Corphish's claw", shouted Calem. Chespin was barely able to release its vines from his body, although it wasn't a hard vine whip like Chespin had done before it was enough for Corphish to loosen his grip on the grass type starter.

Chespin jumped out of Corphish's grasp. "Ah dammit", Tierno said as he knew what was coming. "Vine whip again Chespin", yelled Calem. While Chespin was in mid jump the vines released from his body once again to strike a heavy blow on Corphish.

Corphish fell back and was slow to get up this time but quickly shook it off. "Corphish, use your vice grip", commanded Tierno.

Corphish attempted to rush toward Chespin again but moved slower as he was hurt from the heavy hits that Chespin had delivered. "Chespin dodge and finish Corphish off with another vine whip", called out Calem.

Chespin quickly dodged and for the final time had the vines release from its body to strike Corphish. Corphish fell over and this time failed to get up. "Corphish return", Tierno said with empathy. "Sorry about that Corphish, thanks for battling hard", he said to the Pokeball now with Corphish inside.

"Your Chespin is already impressive, Calem, it's hard to believe you two started out together just a couple of days ago", Trevor said from the sidelines. "They have", Tierno said while grabbing his second Pokeball. "Chespin and I have been working hard together, along with Farfetch'd and Charmander.", Calem said proudly.

"Let's see how you fare against my Lombre!", exclaimed Tierno as he threw his Pokeball up in the air. A Green Pokemon with a dish on its head was released from the Pokeball. It looked familiar to Calem but he was not sure where he had seen it from.

He quickly pulled out his Pokedex and scanned the Pokemon.

"Lombre, the Jolly Pokemon, Lombre evolves from Lotad and dual grass and water type.", the Pokedex said.

"We can take him on Chespin", said Calem confidently. "Ches!", Chespin cried with confidence. "Lombre start off with fury swipes. Lombre quickly scratched Chespin 3 times across the body. Chespin cried out but stayed on his feet. "Chespin retaliate with bite", shouted Calem. Chespin bit down on Lombres arm which caused Lombre to wince in pain.

"Lombre use growl and follow it up with tackle", commanded Tierno. Lombre growled aggressively at Chespin. A blue energy surrounded Chespin, lowering his attack power. Lombre then rammed into Chespin. Chespin tumbled back and couldn't get up.

"Chespin return", Calem said, not wanting to put his Pokemon in any danger.

"You did amazing Chespin, enjoy your rest", Calem said gently. He grabbed another Pokeball and tossed it in the air before saying, "Let's finish the battle Farfetch'd". "Qak", quaked the duck Pokemon. "Let's start off with a fury cutter", commanded Calem.

Farfetch'd flew after Lombre and slashed the body with his wings. Lombre winced once again. "Lombre counter with bubble beam", called out Tierno.

Unlike the attack bubble, Lombre shot out more bubbles at an even faster rate. The majority of the bubbles hit Farfetch'd but he shook it off. "Farfetch'd finish it with fury cutter again", commanded Calem. Once again Farfetch'd slashed across the body of Lombre, knocking Lombre down cold. "Aw Lombre return", called Tierno.

"Good job buddy, we came close", Tierno said to Lombre. "Good job Farfetch'd we won", cheered Calem.

"Great job Calem", Tierno said congratulating Calem. "Thanks Tierno, your Pokemon battled pretty hard too, I can't wait to see how strong our Pokemon get". "Me too, you and Chespin seem to have a head start, keep it up", Tierno said. "What a battle!", Trevor exclaimed. "You two fought each other hard". "We did, well I better get going to the next town",

Calem said.

"You two wanna come?", asked Calem. "I want to stay here and look for more Pokemon to register in the Pokedex", Trevor admitted". "I'm going to practice on my dance moves," Tierno said. "Well then I'll see both of you around", Calem said. "See ya Calem, good luck!", Tierno said. "Don't forget to fill up the Pokedex", Trevor mentioned.

"Oh Trevs what is it with you and the Pokedex?", Tierno asked. "It's our mission", Trevor fired back. Calem couldn't help but chuckle as he walked off, continuing his journey to Camphrier Town.

For about an hour he continued on a walking trail, he was getting close to Camphrier Town and it was starting to get late but a faded road sign read "Camphrier Town, 2 miles.

"Perfect, I'll just camp there for the night and do the research Professor Sycamore wanted me to do tomorrow," thought Calem.

After two miles he finally reached Camphrier Town. Least to say it wasn't what Calem expected. It looked like a town right out of mid-evil times. A stone wall surrounded the city, the houses and stores looked to be hundreds of years old. In the distance, there was a mansion surrounded by water and had a bridge leading too. Not what I was expecting, being on the outskirts of Lumiose City, well the Professor did say this town has a lot of history", thought Calem.

Calem had to look at his map just to make sure he was still in Kalos.

Indeed he was still in Kalos.

He saw a juice bar that looked well-maintained. "I could use a refreshment", thought Calem. He entered the juice bar and saw a few men and a couple of women sitting at the bar. Calem decided to take a seat at the end of the bar.

"I'll be right with you", said the bartender who was polishing glasses. She looked to be a few years older than Calem. "I haven't seen you around here, is this your first time in Camphrier Town?", asked the bartender.

"Yes it actually is", admitted Calem. "Well welcome!", she said enthusiastically. "What brings you to this quiet town?". "Well I'm here to do some research for Professor Sycamore on Mega Evolution, do you know anyone who might know about it?", asked Calem.

"I've never heard of it myself, the Mansion keeper might know something about it, he's pretty knowledgeable on many topics", she explained.

"Thanks, I'll try to visit him tomorrow", Calem said.

"What's your name kid", asked the bartender. "My name's Calem and yours?" "It's Alexis", she said with a smile. "What can I get for you, Calem?", asked Alexis. "What's your best seller?", asked Calem. "That would be our Pinap Smoothie", answered Alexis.

"I'll take one of those please", said Calem. "Coming right up", Alexis said. She threw several Pinaps in a blender with Moomoo milk and blended it. She placed a napkin down as a coaster and set the yellow Pinap Smoothie. "Thanks", Calem said as he took a sip. "This is pretty good", he said while taking another drink.

"Ah thanks", Alexis said happily. "Where are you from, kid?", asked Alexis. "Well I grew up in Sinnoh, I haven't been here for very long though", admitted Calem. "Oh wow, I haven't seen someone from Sinnoh in a while", said Alexis. "I'm surprised you came to Camphrier, we don't get many visitors anymore". "Why's that?", asked Calem.

"Well this town has been here for over a thousand years, at one time it was the capital city of Kalos, there were many residents, merchants, and traders but over time Lumiose City expanded and became this huge international city that it is today", Alexis explained.

"It quickly became the capital of Kalos and many residents moved there, merchants and traders followed for a better opportunity and Camphrier Town became a part of the past", she went on.

"How come the rest of the people didn't move to Lumiose City?", asked Calem. "I think it's because some families here were already established and didn't want to leave, others didn't want change which is why this town still sits here", she explained.

"Anyways enjoy the rest of your drink, I'm going to tend to other customers, let me know if you need anything", she said as she walked away. Calem finished the rest of his smoothie, paid, left a tip, and left.

There happened to be a hotel just down the road. Calem checked in and immediately fell on the bed. He was exhausted after walking all day long.

That's when his Holo Caster started ringing. "Hello?", Calem said as he picked up.

"Hey Calem it's Serena are you in Camphrier Town yet", Serena asked. "Hey Serena I just got here, I'm going to do some research about Mega Evolution while I'm here", Calem said. "I'll be in Camphrier Town tomorrow, we can research together", she said. "Alright sounds good, I'm going to go to bed", Calem said while trying to hold in his nervousness.

"Goodnight Calem", Serena said. "Goodnight Serena", Calem said as he hung up. "Why does she make me so nervous, just like Dawn did", thought Calem. "It's whatever, I better get to bed", he thought while shutting off the lamp next to him.
