"Are you just going to stand there all night or are you going to help out?"

Harry looked up from the recipe that he had printed out and locked eyes with his unhappy girlfriend. He was currently in the kitchen fiddling around with this newest hobby, mixology. All the ingredients were in the shaker up and he had been slowly shaking the cold metal cup when Ginny's voice had penetrated the fog.

"What?" he asked.

Ginny sighed in frustration and threw her arms around, motioning towards the scattered Christmas decorations, half decorated tree, and a pile of lights.

"You're the one that said we should take the decorations down. You're the one that couldn't wait and you're not even helping!"

Harry blinked quickly. He hadn't expected a Ginny breakdown. He could usually spot them coming a mile away but this one caught him by surprise. Especially since he had offered to make them a couple drinks to indulge in while they slowly packed away the decorations that in his opinion should have been packed up a week ago. The New Year had already started and their house was still covered in Christmas decorations, but the last time he had tried to talk to Ginny about it she through a fit so he chose back off and try again later.

"Alright" he said slowly and put down the cocktail shaker on the counter, "Want to tell me what this is all about, because you seemed very interested in the snowdrop just ten minutes ago."

Harry rounded the counter and carefully stepped over boxes on his way over to his distressed girlfriend. Once he reached her, he gently took the string of lights out of her hands and wrapped his arms around her to try and offer comfort.

"It's over" she said with a sniffle.

"What's over?"

"Christmas"

Harry had to work overtime to hold back the chuckle that wanted to escape, although he figured Ginny could feel in rumble in his chest if the huff she let out was any indication.

"And why is that causing these issues?"

"It's our first Christmas" she said as though it was obvious, but Harry was still confused.

"I don't get it" Harry said as he pulled back to look Ginny in the eyes, "Yeah, it's the first one. And that will always hold a special spot in our lives but we are going to have plenty of firsts together. And if we ever have kids, we are going to get to experience their first right a long with them. So…this is the first, in a long line of many that we can look forward to"

Harry watched and the emotions cycled through his girlfriend's eyes. He had no idea if he made things worse, or better but he hoped for the latter.

He received his answer when Ginny launched herself back into his arms and held on tight.

"I love you" she whispered into his ear and he was glad that he could help.

"I love you too"

The pair stood in silence for a few minutes before Harry whispered, "Can we drink the snowdrops now?"

Ginny laughed and pushed Harry away, "Yes, Harry. We can drink the snowdrops" she said with a roll of her eyes.
