I thought my daughter was one of the smartest people I have ever seen.
She turned out to be the most stupid.
Don't get me wrong - I love my daughter.
Kagome was beautiful, independent, and kind.
However, I found that she wasn't the brightest crayon in the box.
She met someone on the internet, and fell in love.
I had told her about the people you met on the internet.
I had told her that nine out of ten times they weren't good people.
"Yes mama," She would say.
The boy's name was Inuyasha.
He seemed like such a gentleman. He was beginning to prove my little theory wrong.
Until one day, my daughter's banking account was completely cleared. Her apartment was sold, and so was her car.
She had no money, no house, no form of transportation, and therefore lost her job.
He claimed that he loved my daughter, yet he left her with nothing.
He cheated her.
He lied to her and stole from her everything she had worked so hard for...
For what?
For another woman.
The woman's name was Kikyo.
Inuyasha betrayed my daughter for a woman who didn't even love him.
When Kikyo found out he had done such a thing, she was disgusted and left him.
Serves him right.
And where is my Kagome today?
She went missing five, long years ago.
They had called me, they tell me that they've found her.
Found her...
They found her...
My baby is dead.
Why?
She had never done anything wrong in her life!
She had always went to church on Sundays, she always plastered a smile on her face, she was always so kind to others.
All because of one stupid mistake.
A mistake anyone could have made...
Should I be blaming Inuyasha for her death?
Or was it her fault the whole time?
Even I had been fooled by him - his rough exterior yet gentle personality, his little moments where he had been so caring...
Or maybe it was my fault.
If I had taught her well enough, maybe she wouldn't have gone off with him.
There was another phone call made to my home that day.
They said they found a cheque in her pocket.
A cheque for all the money that was stolen from her - with a little note at the back.
"I'm sorry."
Not only was he a cheat - he was a murderer.
But no amount of money could make up for all the pain.
No amount of money could make me forgive him.
No amount of money could make Kagome forgive him.
And I think that's what led him to take his own life.
