Spoiler warning: this chapter contains spoilers from A new Boy in Berk: Riders of Berk chapters 5,6 and 7
A/n: Yes, I know that I skipped some chapters and I did it because I want to reach the main story as fast as possible and I also want to tell the story about how Toothless and Thunder met
I also combined three chapters from the main story because in chapters 6 and 7, Thunder doesn't appear much, with that settled, let's start, I'll see you in the next chapter for Defenders of Berk
New problems
A lot of things have been happening on Berk, first: because there's no need in killing any dragons, Gobber needed a new job, now he's a dragon dentist and he seems to enjoy it
Second: the animals were afraid of us and the yaks and chickens weren't giving any milk or eggs and to make things worse a storm was incoming, luckily since we help them to survive in the cold now, we get along
And finally Hiccup and Blake found a new dragon that I've never seen before, Hiccup named him "Torch" and the riders named the species as "Thyphoomerang" but Toothless and I weren't so sure if it was a good idea to have him around, especially Toothless
And we were right, Torch was still a hatchling and his mother chased us because she thought that we stole him but things went back to normal, also Blake told Hiccup and Stoick that he's been having the same nightmare all over again
Gobber and I already knew because Gobber is Blake's adoptive father and I woke up almost every night with Blake crying or screaming but it doesn't bother me, in fact I wish I could help him with that
Today, we're doing a trust exercise, what we have to do is catch our rider when they get off our backs in mid-air
Hiccup and Toothless were the first ones and of course they were able to do it without problems
"Nice catch bud, a little close" Hiccup said
"Maybe but we still made it" Toothless said
"Blake, your turn" Hiccup said
"Okay, Thunder are you ready?" Blake asked
"Of course, I am!" I roared happily
Then Blake jumped of my back and I dived behind him in order to catch him but… maybe we could have a little fun
After a few seconds I used my paws to catch Blake by his shoulders before launching him back to my back
"Fishlegs, your turn" Blake said as we reunited with the others
"I don't want to do it" Fishlegs protested
"Meatlug is going to catch you" Blake said
"Yeah, I'm going to catch you" Meatlug said
"It's a trust exercise" Hiccup said
"I'd like to do my trusting on the ground, thank you very much" Fishlegs said, he really needs to work on his courage
"Like this Chickenlegs" Snotlout said falling from Hookfang's neck, wait. Why he isn't going to catch Snotlout?
"Hookfang, get him" Astrid said
"Him who?" Hookfang asked confused "Wait, where's Snotlout?!"
"Not feeling the trust!" Snotlout yelled while falling
"I'm coming!" Hookfang yelled before diving to catch Snotlout but they crashed on a house, is that Mildew's house? Yes, it is
I hope we don't have any trouble for this
Later that night while I was eating dinner, Gobber walked towards Blake while holding a boot and… What is that awful smell?!
"Blake, do you know what night is today?" Gobber asked
Blake thought for a moment before speaking "No, did I miss something?" he asked
"Well, tonight is boots night and you need to take my boot out so it can be aired out" Gobber explained before giving his boot to Blake "Wait, what?!" he asked
"I'll see you in the morning" Gobber said walking away
"It can't be that bad, can it?" Blake asked looking at me but he cringed when he smelled the boot, so that's where that smell is coming from
Blake got out and placed the boot outside while I waited on his room in order to sleep but when Blake returned, he looked like he was about to throw up so he just lied down on his bed
"Good night for you too" I said before curling up and sleep
I woke up the next morning feeling very well rested but Blake isn't here and that's really weird, I'm usually the one who wakes up first, something must have happened
Suddenly the door opened and Blake entered the room carrying a basket
"Hi, Thunder. I thought that you'd be hungry so I brought you this" he said opening the basket and dropping its content, it's fish
"Thanks, I'm hungry" I said as I started to eat but Blake looks a bit… serious, something definitely happened
It took me a while to understand what was happening and apparently last night someone took all of the Vikings' boots and left them at the academy, the principal suspect is a Zippleback that was found sleeping next to the boots so Gobber said that he'll fix them
The next day Blake was called to the Great Hall just like the rest of the riders but he told me to stay at the forge he's probably trying to keep me away from all of this stuff that has been happening lately
Moments later, Blake returned with some bad news, it seems like a Monstrous Nightmare got it the Great Hall last night and caused some damages so Stoick said that we should be locked up at the academy during the night and that's what the riders are going to do now
"Good night, Thunder" Blake said as he got off my back "I'll miss you tonight"
"I'll miss you too" I said before he walked away to talk with Hiccup but I'm just going to sleep, maybe tomorrow will be better
The next day I woke up by some one saying my name, it was Blake
"Blake, are we going for a flight or something?" I asked but then I noticed that all of the riders were here looking for their dragons, maybe Toothless knows what's happening
"Toothless, what's going on?" I asked walking towards him
"Well, Hiccup and Blake thought that we were being framed for everything that has been happening, when they went to tell Stoick I heard something on the armory so I went to investigate and the armory blew up" Toothless explained
"What? Who would do such a thing?" I asked confused
"I don't know but since I was close, everyone thought that it was me who did it and now Stoick decided to take us off the island" Toothless said sadly
After that, Hiccup and Blake led us out of the academy and flew towards Dragon Island, that's how the Vikings call the island where the nest was
The mood is really sad, no one wants to do thins but we have no choice
Once we arrived, Blake got off my back, took off the saddle and hugged me
"I'll never forget you Thunder, not even if I lost my memory again" he said
"I'll never forget you either" I purred sadly
"And please try not to damage your wing because this time I won't be around to help you" Blake laughed a bit
"Don't worry, that won't happen" I said
Hours later it was sunset already and I was at the edge of the ocean still sad
"Hey Thunder" a voice said behind me so I turned around and saw Stormfly walking towards me "You're sad about having to leave Berk, right?"
"Yeah, I already got use to living in there and now we must live in here" I explained
"Listen, I know this looks bad but things will get better" Stormfly said, how is she able to remain positive? "Maybe you could visit someone from your family, you haven't seen them in a while, have you?"
"You're right, I haven't seen anyone from my family in a long time, especially my parents" I said
"Oh, well. Do you have any siblings that you want to see?" Stormfly asked taking me by surprise
"I don't like to talk about that" I said but before Stormfly could say something I talked "Look, I'm not the mood to continue with the conversation, I'm sorry. I'll see you later"
That night I was trying to sleep but I couldn't, maybe a walk will clear my mind
I was walking through the forest but then I hers something on the bushes "Who's there?" I asked
"Calm down, it's me" Toothless said coming out of the bushes "You couldn't sleep too, huh?"
"No, I wasn't able to stop thinking about Blake's nightmares, if he has one tonight, I won't be able there to help him" I explained "Why you weren't able to sleep?"
"Well, if I wasn't near the armory when it blew up, maybe none of this would have happened" Toothless explained sadly
"Don't worry, Toothless. Like Stormfly said, things will get better… I hope" I muttered the las part
The next day I was trying to find anyone to have a little chat, I'll even take Barf and Belch if I found them
"Thunder!" I heard I voice yell, wait… that voice… I know it
I quickly ran where I herd the voice and saw the one who yelled my name "Blake!" I said before pouncing at him and nuzzling him happily "I missed you!"
After a few seconds I walked backwards in order to let Blake up "I missed you too, Thunder" he said but he sounds a bit… sad
"Are you okay?" I asked but then Astrid and Sotrmfly landed next to us
"Good, you found him, now let's keep moving, Hiccup doesn't have much time!" Astrid said and Blake nodded before getting on my back so I flew off following Stormfly but I'm really confused
"Stormfly, do you know what's happening?" I asked
"Apparently someone named 'Alvin' attacked Berk while we were gone and now, he's attacking Hiccup and Toothless" Stormfly explained
"How do you know that?" I asked
"Astrid had to explain everything to the twins because they forgot what we were doing" Stormfly said
When we all arrived at the edge of the island just about time before some arrows were fired at Toothless but Stormfly destroyed them
Why it took you so long?" Hiccup asked as we approached
"Why did you miss us?" Astrid asked
Then I saw a ship from Berk and another ship its' probably the ship from Alvin
"There's our chance, come on!" Hiccup said when Berk's ship started to attack Alvin's ship so we started to fly towards it but then someone launched a boulder at Stormfly, she was able do dodge it but Astrid fell from her back and landed on Alvin's ship
"Hold your fire! He's got Astrid" Hiccup said and he's right, a man on the ship has Astrid so he's probably Alvin
Suddenly Hookfang fired at the ship but he hit the water instead
"What are you doing?" Hiccup asked
"I thought you say fire" Snotlout said
"You're not the only one who thought that" Hookfang said
"I said hold your fire" Hiccup said
No! He's right" Stoick said from the ship "Fire again Hiccup all of you!"
"Everyone fire into the water" Hiccup ordered, all of the dragons did that except for me, I don't think that my lightning will to anything
Then a smoke barrier was created and Hiccup with Toothless got in and seconds later they came out with Astrid
When the smoke was gone, I saw Stoick and Alvin fighting on Alvin's ship but Stoick threw him into the ocean
"Now Hiccup burn the ship!" Stoick said returning to his ship
"Here we go guys, hit it with everything you got" Hiccup said
We all started to shot at the ship making some men throw themselves into the ocean, they're probably Alvin's allies
When we won Blake looked angry and he's looking at the men in the island, then Alvin got on the island he and Blake looked at each other but Blake is looking at Alvin in a really cold way, I've never seen that look on his face
I decided that it was better to reunite with the others
When we arrived back at Berk, everyone looked happy to see us and I couldn't be happier either but now Blake looks sad
We landed at the docks and walked to the village but all the time he just looked at the ground
I just followed him until we arrived at the forge and the first thing that Blake did was locking himself in his room
I waited outside for a long time waiting for Blake to come out but he didn't, and I'm pretty sure that I heard something inside but I can't figure out what it is, maybe Hiccup told something to Toothless
It wasn't hard to find him, he and Hiccup were talking with Stoick
"Toothless" I said walking towards him "Can I talk with you about something?"
"Sure, what is it?" Toothless asked
"Well, since Blake and I reunited at Dragon Island he looked sad and now he locked himself in his room, did Hiccup tell you something, I really need to know what's happening to my rider" I said
"Hiccup didn't tell me anything but I herd his conversation with Astrid" Toothless said
"So, what did they say?" I asked
"Well… do you remember that man named Alvin?" Toothless asked
"I do remember him, why?" I asked more confused that before
"Turns out that he's an enemy from Berk but that's not all he's also the chief of a tribe called 'The Outcasts' and he's… Blake's true father" Toothless said,
Wait, did he just say… "Blake's true father?" I asked in disbelief
"Yes" Toothless said "You remember about Blake's nightmare about him almost killing someone?"
"What kind of question is that? Of course, I remember it" I said "That's what torments Blake when he sleeps"
"Thunder, I'm afraid that it it's not a nightmare, it's a memory but it was incomplete" Toothless said
"S-so Blake really killed someone?" I asked nervously
"No, because before he could do it, Alvin stopped him but while they were talking something hit Blake on the back of his head, whatever hit him was what made him lose his memory" Toothless said
"And then Alvin put him on a ship and send him to berk, right?" I asked angrily
"Yes, but that's not all, how would you describe Blake?" Toothless asked
"Well, he's really patient, caring, gentle, someone who you could trust" I said "Why do you ask?"
"According to Alvin's words, he was really cold, violent, impatient, someone that you might want to stay away from" Toothless said surprising me, that's the opposite of Blake
"Thunder? what are you doing here?" Hiccup asked when he saw me, maybe he can help Blake come out of his depressed state
"Please come with me" I said making a gesture with my head, luckily Hiccup understood the message
When we arrived at the forge, Hiccup knocked the door of Blake's room
"Blake, are you there?" Hiccup asked but no one answered "Please, open the door, I just want to talk, even Thunder is here"
Suddenly the door opened and I got in but before Hiccup could get in as well Blake closed the door
Then without stop looking at the floor, Blake walked to the nearest corned and sat in there hugging his legs and placing his head between them
"Please, tell me what's wrong" I said nudging him but when he looked at me, I was surprised for what I saw
He looked like he's been crying with no stop for a very long time, those sounds that I heard when I was outside probably were sobs
"Hey, it's okay, there's no need of crying, you're safe here" I purred trying to comfort him "Do you want to go for a flight? maybe that will cheer you up"
I gestured up with my head, I normally use that when I want to go on a flight with Blake "I'm not… in the mood… for a flight… Thunder" he sobbed "I'm sorry"
"You don't have to be sorry, I understand" I purred but then Blake hugged me and continued crying on me but I don't care
If my rider wants to cry in me to get everything out of his chest, I'll be more than willing to let him do it
After five minutes of crying, Blake fell asleep so I leaned him against the wall to watch over him but then someone knocked on the door
"Blake, you haven't come out of your room, do you need to talk?" someone asked, it was Gobber
I walked towards the door and opened it before meeting with the Viking
"Is Blake in there, dragon?" he asked, I nodded as an answer and allowed him to get in
When Gobber saw Blake, he picked him up gently avoid waking him up and laid him down on his bed
"Let's let him rest, he's been through a lot in just a few days" Gobber said before walking out of the room
Then I laid on the floor ready to sleep too, I didn't sleep really well on Dragon Island, I hope things get better tomorrow
The next day I woke up with someone talking, it was Blake but the thing is that he's still asleep
"No… no" he kept saying
He must be having a really bad nightmare, I've never seen him talk while he sleeps
"NOOO!" Blake yelled waking up, he was breathing heavily he was sweating and he was shaking of fear
Suddenly Blake started to cry uncontrollably as he covered his face with his hands so I had to nudge him to make him react
"Thunder" Blake sobber and hugged me like he never did before, the only thing that I could do was purr trying to comfort him but it wasn't working
"Blake are you okay?" Gobber said entering the room "What happened?" he asked before sitting next to Blake on his bed
"I had a nightmare, and I'm sure that this time it was really one" Blake sobbed
"It's okay, do you want to talk about it?" Gobber asked gently
"Well, Berk was completely destroyed and it was all my fault" Blake said between sobs "I let the Outcasts in, it was like another part of myself took over me"
Then Blake hugged Gobber who rubbed Blake's back to comfort him and this time it worked, he slowly started to calm down until he stopped crying
"How are you feeling now?" Gobber asked as Blake broke the hug
"I feel a little better but, I think I'll walk around the village, that will help to clear my mind" Blake said standing up
"Are you sure?" Gobber asked but just Blake stopped in front of the door "Yes, I'm s-sure" Blake said
"Please watch over him" Gobber told me
"I will" I nodded before following my rider
We walked for a while around the plaza until we encountered with Astrid
"Oh, hi Blake" Astrid asked nicely "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine" Blake answered cleaning some of his tears
"Are you sure?" Astrid asked "You don't look so good"
"I said I'm fine!" Blake yelled taking me and Astrid by surprise
Then, Blake stared to walk away so I had to follow him still surprised for what happened
After a few minutes of walking, we visited the academy and started to return to the village
Blake!" someone yelled, it was Hiccup
"Oh, hi Hiccup" Blake said with a sad voice as Hiccup and Toothless landed in front of us
"Blake, are you okay?" Hiccup asked jumping of Toothless
"I'm fine, I was just returning to the village" Blake said walking back to the village but Hiccup stopped him
"Don't lie to me, I know you're not okay, you have been acting really weird since we returned after fighting Alvin" Hiccup said "And Astrid told me what happen a few minutes ago, so tell me what's wrong?"
"I said I'm fine!" Blake yelled, he's really starting to scare me
"Blake I'm trying to help you but I can't if you don't tell me what's wrong" Hiccup said putting a hand on Blake's shoulder
"JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" Blake snapped losing all patience as he turned around
"D-did you just snap?" I asked in shock
"Hiccup I'm sorry I-" Blake said, but before he could continue, he started to ran into the forest
"Hey, don't run!" I yelled but before I could follow my rider, he said something that made me stop in my place "Please don't follow me, Thunder!"
I only looked at the ground sadly "Don't worry, we'll help him" Hiccup said petting my head
Later I returned to the forge, Hiccup and the rest of the riders went to the forest in order to look for Blake
But time has passed and none of them had return
"Should I keep waiting? Should I go into the forest and look for my rider?" I asked myself walking nervously but then I saw someone approaching
"Blake!" I roared happily before running towards him "Please don't do that again" I purred as he hugged me and I returned the hug with my wings
"I'm sorry for leaving you Thunder" Blake said "I just needed to clear some things up"
"I understand, don't worry, it doesn't matter what happen now but I'll help you to deal with it" I said
