Commission for Hit. An assassin and former member of the Kinkou order, Naruto travels the lands in search of a purpose in life as well as enjoying the company of more than a few good looking women.

3. Evelynn

It had been two weeks since Naruto had left Noxus and a downtrodden Katarina. Though the woman put up a seemingly uncaring front when the time for him to leave came, the way she held onto him the night before painted a different story. She had cuddled up with him all night, refusing to let go until she had absolutely no choice. Katarina understood he had a job to do and was now a part of it. Knowing the benefits that would soon come to her, she gave him a final forceful kiss and allowed him to leave.

"What a woman." He said to himself. His good mood was rudely interrupted by the sudden shifting of the boat he was on due to the choppiness of the waters. Immediately after leaving Noxus, he headed toward Piltover and Zaun and acquired a rather small but surprisingly sturdy boat. It was just big enough for him to fit by himself but shortly after passing through Ironwater and Mudtown, the water of the Guardian's sea began to make him wonder if this had been a good idea.

The good news was that it had held on and he could now see Bilgewater bay in the distance. Sighing to himself, he shifted on the small wooden seat that boat had and made a mental note to acquire a better boat because he was sure this one would not hold up long enough to reach Ionia. If he was lucky maybe it would hold on long enough to reach Fallgren, but it wouldn't make it to the island itself.

"I should've just bought the expensive one." He groaned to himself.

His misfortune didn't last much longer though, and soon, the serpent shaped horns that protected the shores were in view. Three large horns each manned by a single individual at the top greeted him. The man stationed at the horn closest to him took notice of him and called out to the others.

Raising his hands in a placating manner, he hoped that they wouldn't blow the horns. The last thing he needed was for the water to get worse, though he wasn't sure if it would disorient him since he wasn't a monster. Fortunately, he was allowed passage when they noticed he was alone and the state of his boat. It was times like these that he was thankful he was so good at his job.

The only people who knew of him directly were those he killed if he appeared before them, and those well connected people like Swaine who hired him regularly.

Guiding his boat to the nearest open port, he tied it up, ignoring the looks some of the residents gave him from aboard their larger vessels. Stepping foot onto solid ground once more, he glanced around the area. Bilgewater bay was an amazing looking place, in a corrupted and gloomy sort of way. Patches of light penetrated the lighter parts of the dark clouds above them, shining down on certain parts of the bay such as the large tower and waterfall in the distance. Walking away from the port, he kept his eyes open for a specific individual.

Although Ionia was his current destination, a boat wasn't the only reason he needed to stop by Bilgewater. If his plan was going to work, he would need more allies and there was one such person who would be a great addition to his forces. All he had to do now was find her.

Every face that passed him was inspected and forgotten if it wasn't the person he was looking for. Men and women of all colors and sizes walked by him as he strolled through the area but none of them caught his attention. That was until he saw a man dressed in a rather peculiar fashion, even among the people of the island.

The man wore what seemed like pirate clothing that one would find in children's books. Brown pants and white loose styled long sleeve shirt, brown boots which his pants were tucked into and the man even had a small gun on his hip. He was carrying two large crates, no doubt filled with either weapons or supplies that would be put onto a large ship.

Bilgewater's residents all tried to make a fortune by exploiting the people around them, but few did so out on the seas. Knowing that this was probably the best way to find her, he stealthily made his way through the crowd of people until he was right behind the man. Falling into step with him, Naruto placed his left hand on the man's shoulder, causing him to jump in fright.

"Don't make a sound. Keep walking." Naruto ordered. The man looked over at him and studied his face trying his best to see if this was someone they had screwed over in the past or a completely new player. While not everyone in Bilgewater knew each other, there were a few recognizable faces in the crowd, and to him Naruto wasn't one of them.

"You don't want to mess with us." The man warned.

Naruto chuckled lightly at the threat. "I'll be fine, believe me. Now, would you happen to know where I can find Sarah Fortune?" He questioned as they walked.

The slight tensing of the man's body told him all he needed to know. Not letting the man reply, he applied just a little more pressure. "Ah you do. Perfect. I need you to take me to her."

Even as a simple crew member, he was smart enough to know he couldn't win a fight against the blond. He hadn't sensed him sneaking up on him and the grip he had on his shoulder was strong. It wouldn't be too much to believe that he could probably kill him before he knew what happened.

"Look." Naruto began, noticing the hesitation on the man's face. "I'm not trying to kill your captain or anything. I just need to talk about a potential deal with her. One that I think she would find mutually beneficial for everyone. You have my word she won't be attacked." He promised.

The man exhaled shakily and nodded. He didn't have a choice. If he didn't do as he was told, he would likely die. He couldn't shake the dark feeling that he got being near the blond despite his outwardly cheerful appearance. He just hoped that he was a man of his word and wouldn't cause any trouble.

Naruto was glad he'd found the man because he had been led up to a higher part of the city, one atop the many stone formations that were native to the area. He was led to a rowdy bar that overlooked the docks from high above.

The man placed the crates down in front of the door and pushed them open. Inside Naruto was greeted to the sight of many men and women that resembled the man who he'd strong armed into bringing him here. The rowdiness continued despite them walking through the hall. The blond felt slightly out of place seeing as he was the only one not dressed in any sort of pirate gear but he pushed that thought out of his mind.

The bartender, a gruff looking man who wore an eyepatch over his left eye nodded to the door behind him as they stood in front of him.

"The Captain is over here. Don't try anything funny or she'll kill you before you have a chance to blink." The man said with some bravado. Naruto had to hand it to the woman, she had definitely earned the respect of her people if they believed in her that much. The door was pushed open and the two stepped inside.

Naruto glanced at the lone figure in the room and mentally whistled. Sarah Fortune was definitely a looker. She wore tight leather pants that hugged her figure nicely, and wore a very small strapless top. Above that was another leather piece that acted like a bra and formed a bow in the center of her chest. Her hair was red but lighter than Katarina's and flowed wavily down to the small of her back. Finally, resting on her head was a large ornate black and gold pirate hat.

The sound of the door opening alerted her that she wasn't alone and with incredible reflexes, two guns were pointed at them. Recognizing one of her men, the two guns were then pointed at Naruto who seemed undisturbed by the action.

"Captain. This guy here forced me to bring him to you. Said something about wanting to cut a deal." Her subordinate spoke out.

Miss Fortune's teal colored eyes focused on the blond and with a nod of her head, the man left, closing the door loudly behind him. Once he was gone, she pointed one gun at an empty seat on the other side of the room while the other was still on him.

"Why don't you take a seat?" Though she made it sound like a request, Naruto knew it was an order.

"If you insist." He replied smoothly. While he wasn't one to blindly take orders from anyone, his plan required that he play nice with certain people. The chances that she would listen to anything he had to say would diminish if he began to do anything she could take as disrespect.

Sitting in the wooden chair provided, Naruto fearlessly looked back at her, ignoring the barrels that were only a few feet away from his head.

"So…you want to cut a deal." She said curiously. "Did you do something against us that you think might get you killed?"

He shook his head. "No nothing of the sort."

The gun was pressed up against his forehead and her right foot shot out, hitting the wall behind him with some force. Naruto refrained from grinning but he definitely liked how she did things. He could now see why she could command respect from some of the guys he'd seen out in the bar.

"So you just decided to threaten one of my men in order to come talk to me?" She laughed. "I always say 'fortune favors the bold' but there is such a thing as too bold. Why would I make a deal with some random guy I've never met before?"

Rather than reply verbally, Naruto let his left leg rest across his right as he leaned back into the chair. Miss Fortune felt the temperature in the room drop considerably and was able to see some movement out of the corners of her eyes. Moving her head just a bit to the right, she was met with a shadow-like figure with purple mist emanating from it. Turning to her left she was met with the same figure and the feeling of soft air hitting her neck told her there was possibly one behind her as well.

Her eyes suddenly widened as she realized exactly who had come to pay her a visit. If she was honest, most people thought he was just a myth. Any time some big name was assassinated, the only clue left behind was a purple mist that usually disappeared after a few minutes. No one knew how he was able to get close enough to some of the most well connected people, but he always did.

Seeing the small smile he sent at her sent a chill down her spine. If he was here then it could only mean that she was possibly a target.

"I'm not here to kill you, Miss Fortune." He said, noticing the way her fingers were beginning to apply pressure on the triggers. With a snap of his fingers, the shadows disappeared and the oppressive feeling within the room vanished just as quickly as it came. "On the contrary, I really am here to offer a deal."

The guns stayed steady for another minute until she took a breath and put her hands down. Walking backwards, she hopped onto a small table where a map was laid out to sit down. Her pistols were laid down on the table top and her hands gripped the edge of the table as she leaned forward.

"Well, I suppose it's in my best interest to listen. I'll admit I'm interested in knowing what I could have done to garner your attention."

"I guess I'll cut right to the chase then." He began in a professional tone.

"I don't know if I should call you crazy or not." The woman said after a moment of silence. She'd encountered and knew of plenty of men with large aspirations in life, but never like this. What was even crazier was that she actually believed he could do what he was proposing. Every part of his plan had been thought out, whether or not things would happen the way he said it was a different story.

"Well that's up to you. So what do you think, Miss Fortune?"

Crossing her arms under her generous bust, he tilted her head and replied. "I think you stand to gain quite a bit from this endeavor, but what do I get? My crew and I help you but you still haven't said how I benefit from any of this."

Naruto nodded, this was something he had been waiting for. "In exchange for your help along with a better boat, I'll make sure you become the undisputed leader of the pirates. Essentially, you will become queen of Bilgewater and everyone will either be at your command or at your mercy. A pretty fair trade I think."

Miss Fortune mentally agreed. There were numerous factions in the area competing for power and territory. Her crew was powerful but it wasn't enough to subjugate everyone, but with Naruto on her side the tides could change. Everyone who had even heard whispers of his name knew he was powerful, those that believed the legend at least.

If he were to work alongside her, Bilgewater could be hers in as little as a week. The thought of the gold that would make its way to her was alluring. Not only that, but with Naruto she could take care of the nuisance Gangplank once and for all.

Smiling kindly, she stood up and strutted over to him. She extended her right arm out and could feel victory within her grasp the moment his larger hand took hers.

"Deal." She agreed. "When do we start?"

Naruto stood up and patted himself down before stretching his arms over his head. "Well, now that the business has been taken care of, would you mind having someone lead me to a better boat?"

"Follow me." She said, exiting the room. His eyes watched her hips sway until they exited the building and began making their way back down to the docs. "I'm surprised you made it here from Piltover using that raggedy little boat."

"You and me both but that was all I could get my hands on without having to kill someone." He replied easily.

Miss Fortune looked over her shoulder momentarily and raised an eyebrow before turning her attention back in front of her. "You're different than I imagined."

Now it was Naruto's turn to be curious. "In what way?"

"When people think of you, they don't expect a handsome, polite man. I imagine most think of some cold blooded emotionless killer. I guess that works in your favor though since most wouldn't know what to look for."

"I'm an assassin Miss Fortune, not just some killer. I won't do things for free, you know?" He replied.

"Believe me I know." She responded. "I do things for money mostly, and for fun on occasion. Anyway, this is it." She said as they came to a stop. There was a large wooden boat easily fifteen times bigger than the one he came in. There were large white sails on it as well as a large decoration piece of a dragon's head on the front.

It was much too large for one person but anything was better than what he had.

"It's…pretty big." He said plainly.

Sarah nodded happily. "Yup. Nabbed this from punks who thought they would make a name for themselves against us. It's yours now. Do you need me to teach you how to man it?"

He gave her a quick shake of his head and began to inspect the ship, feeling the wooden planks and the structural integrity overall. It would be a few days until he reached Ionia, and the last thing he needed was for it to fall apart half way through the voyage.

After making sure things were all good, she bid him luck and returned to her crew, though not before asking when he would uphold his end of their bargain. Promising her that it would be only a few weeks, he headed back into the city alone to stock up on supplies.

The departure from Bilgewater was much simpler than his arrival and now with the coast disappearing behind him, Naruto stared forward into the vast ocean. Things were progressing nicely. Katarina was on his side, as was Miss Fortune and her crew but it wasn't enough. Now heading to Ionia, he hoped that he would be able to find Irelia quickly.

There was no doubt in his mind that things would go his way. With the information he'd acquired from Leblanc, it was all but guaranteed that they would listen to what he had to say. Noxus' ambitions were growing and Ionia was in no position to get involved with a war. If they were caught off guard, they would certainly lose.

"As long as I can convince them that my idea is better overall for everyone, they'll join. Some people might pose a problem but Ionia for the most part is rational." He spoke to himself as he rubbed his chin.

The large ship rocked as a wave collided with it but it held on nicely. Deciding to think about things as they came, Naruto made his way into one of the rooms in the center of the ship to get some sleep. It would be a few days before he made it after all, and he didn't know what he would be facing. Things had been going a little too well, and knowing his luck, something was bound to go wrong sooner rather than later.

The trip to Ionia wasn't as pleasant as he would have liked it to be but finally, he'd made it onto land. Looking up at the tall cliffs of Weh'le, he took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. It had been a while since he'd last been in Ionia, but it didn't feel any more alien than before. Smiling to himself, he dashed toward the nearby cliff and effortlessly climbed to the top. Kicking off the small footholds in the rocks, he made it to the top just as the sun was beginning to set.

If there was one thing he loved about Ionia, it was that the views around this time were spectacular. He could see a village in the distance, slightly illuminated by the remaining bit of sunlight and the stars above them beginning to peek through. The moment lasted but a few minutes before darkness fell across the land and he stood back up. It was doubtful that he would find who he was looking for right now, but it wouldn't hurt to check the village.

Stepping off the edge, Naruto let his body plummet to the ground below. A loud thud rang out, causing birds nearby to scatter in fright.

"What are the chances that I'll find Irelia tonight?" He wondered out loud. The chances were slim but there was a bit of hope. The sooner he found her, the sooner he could proceed with his plan.

The walk to the village was peaceful, as was the case when traveling around Ionia. At least when you were a being with power like his. The sound of wind cruising through the grass only added to the serenity he felt at the moment. The water from the small river that also led to the river flowed calmly, allowing for fish to make their way through. He really couldn't let Noxus take over, he knew exactly what would happen to this place if they did.

When he finally made it, he noticed that most small shops and homes nearby were turning their lights off. The only light now came from the small orange lanterns that were hung up on thin lines, connecting buildings together. It was nice aesthetically during the sunset but now…it gave off a more ominous vibe than anything else.

One of the few places that still had the lights on was a rather large wooden building with a small sign out front advertising food and drink. A bar. Having had nothing but the food he'd taken with him from Bilgewater, a nice meal and drink sounded good right about now. This bar was much calmer than the one Miss Fortune was using as a base. There weren't people having a blast and drinking more than they could handle.

In fact, there were only three other people inside apart from the aged man behind the bar. His eyes landed on Naruto and he couldn't hide the surprise from showing on his face.

"You're not from around here are you?" He asked, not in an unfriendly tone. He sounded more worried than anything else.

Naruto shook his head and took a seat on a stool directly in front of the man. "Not exactly. I just made it here today and happened to stumble across the village. Beautiful place."

"It was. Let me give you a warning so you don't die out there." The man said seriously.

Naruto frowned, something wasn't right. There was something wrong here, he knew the village wasn't deserted, that meant the people had just turned in. It wasn't even that late, the sun had only just gone down a few minutes prior. It was as if they were afraid of something or trying to stay hidden from someone.

"There's been quite a few people going missing recently. I've heard whispers from other villages far and wide that a demon is hunting people. Mostly men but some women too."

The blonds eyebrows raised into his hairline. A demon? In Ionia?

"Well that explains why it's so dark outside." He said calmly. Thanking the man for the cold drink that was placed in front of him. "So why are you still keeping the lights on? Aren't you worried about this demon finding you?" He asked with a bit of suspicion in his tone.

The man's hands raised in a show of peace and he shook his head. "I have nothing to worry about. All of the people that have gone missing are young, just about your age. That's why I gave you the warning. The demon seems to have a type, one that I don't fit."

"Has anyone from this village been taken?"

The man shook his head. "No one in Komishun has been taken. We're not sure if it's because everyone stays inside once it gets dark or if the demon just doesn't care for us, but whatever the reason, it seems to be working."

"Uh huh." Naruto replied lazily. He picked something from the small menu that was laying on the counter and continued. "So you guys are content to just stay like this? Why not try to get some help? I'm sure if word got out, there'd be plenty of people willing to claim to be the ones to kill a demon."

"Not enough money to hire anyone worthwhile. Enough demon talk though, you should be allowed to enjoy your meal without thinking about impending doom." He said before retreating to the back.

Naruto tapped his fingers along the bar and wondered just what this demon could be. There was a strong possibility that this demon could be the ability of an assassin, but none came to mind. Even if it was, what would killing random villagers help them gain? Maybe he would look into it once his business here was done.

The next couple of days passed with little success in regards to his search. Ionia was a large landmass and on foot he could only cover so much ground. Village after village he searched with no results until finally, he turned his sights toward The Placidium of Navori. Reaching it took another couple of days but this proved to be the correct move on his part.

The magical gardens never ceased to take his breath his way. In the distance he could see the large symbolic structures as well as the many pillars perfectly lined up leading into the fog. More importantly, atop one of the large pillars closest to the large mountain, he could see a single female figure meditating. Even from his distance, he could see the outfit consisting of wine red and gray. Long black hair flowed down the figures back and along the sides of her head, the shine of silver reflected the sunlight.

"Got you." Naruto muttered to himself.

Stepping into a full blown sprint, Naruto was easily able to quickly reach the peak of the mountain until only the gargantuan gap remained.

Up on the pillar, not a sound could be heard other than the gentle howl of the breeze. The young woman's black hair flowed patternlessly with each gust of wind. The woman's eyes were closed as she focused on her meditation, but her face fell into a frown when the winds were disrupted.

"You're a hard woman to find Irelia." Naruto commented, prompting the woman to quickly stand and stare at the person who intruded on her private time. "It took some effort on my part to track you down."

Irelia stood up and turned around. Her eyes trailed up and down the unfamiliar man for a minute and her face contorted into a frown. Questions began to run through her head. Who was he? How did he manage to sneak up beside her without her noticing? The most prominent one on her mind at the moment however, was in regards to his identity. He seemed to know her but he was a complete stranger.

"Is there something you need of me?" She asked, discreetly positioning herself into a defensive stance. Naruto almost smiled, her movements were so fluid that anyone who wasn't highly trained would have assumed she merely shifted in place.

"There is. I'd like for you to gather your most trusted allies so we may discuss something important regarding Ionia." He answered truthfully. Naruto didn't expect her to simply nod and do as she was told, and he was right. She raised an eyebrow at him and crossed her arms before shaking her head.

"I'm afraid you've wasted your time looking for me if that's what you wanted. Why would I do such a thing when I don't know who you are or what your motives are?" She replied logically.

Naruto nodded, her reasoning made sense. He got a momentary lapse of deja vu as this exact thing had happened with Miss Fortune not too long ago. He smiled much to Irelia's confusion. She was sure her refusal to cooperate would have resulted in either a battle or persistence on his part.

Before she had a chance to say anything, she felt two taps on her shoulders. Once again she was caught unaware and turned to see who was behind her only for her eyes to widen in realization when she stared at two shadow-like beings. Their featureless faces stared back at her.

"You're a part of the Order of Shadows." She breathed out.

Naruto shook his head. "Not exactly. I was a part of the Kinkou Order in the past but left shortly after Zed's attack, but that's not what I'm here to talk about."

Irelia had heard of him but had never seen him in person. His exploits were thought to be simple tales but like others, she'd heard of the shadows that lingered after certain people were assassinated and knew it was him. He was Ionian, that made her feel a bit better but she was still on guard.

"What do you need to speak to us about? If it's about Ionia, surely you can tell me." She tried.

"I could, but I don't want to repeat myself." He replied simply. "I promise no harm will come to you and your allies from me."

Irelia's eyes studied him silently, trying to find the slightest bit of deceit but came up empty. Naruto's stare was intense but held no ill will toward her. She exhaled silently and dropped her defensive posture. If he wanted her dead, he could have done so after having snuck up on her.

"Very well, but it will take a few days to gather everyone."

Naruto nodded in understanding. If it took this long to find Irelia, he could only imagine it wouldn't be easy to gather multiple people, even if she was from around here.

"That's acceptable. Let's regroup in say…four days?" Naruto proposed.

Irelia's head inclined and she soon disappeared. Naruto stared at the empty spot in front of him and took a seat at the edge of the pillar, letting his legs hang down. It had been a while since he was last around these parts and the sight gave him a feeling of nostalgia. His mind traveled to his old home village before it was swallowed up by the void but he quickly shook his head of those thoughts. That didn't matter anymore.

The next time they met, Irelia was alongside a group of people. The first was a woman dressed in very intricate clothing consisting of a white and purple dress, with the dress having two slits along the sides to show off her legs. On her head was a gold headpiece that featured a bright green jewel in the center. The most prominent item on her however, was the two wing like accessories that protruded from her back. Her glowing eyes gazed at him intently, though the curiosity behind them couldn't be hidden.

Next to her was a familiar sight. The longest standing member of the Kinkou Order. The small furry man was dressed in purple ninja garb with a shuriken ready in his hand. The look the yordle sent him was one of both recognition and weariness.

The last person was a taller shirtless man who wore a red blindfold over his eyes. His black pants were wrapped up with white tape along his legs and the gold ring that hung down the front of his pants shined brightly in the sun. Though he was blind, the man was looking in Naruto's direction as if he could see him perfectly.

"Thank you for accepting my request. It's a pleasure to meet all of you. Karma, Kennen, and Lee Sin, I assure you your time won't be wasted today." Naruto said gratefully.

"It has been some time, Naruto." Kennen began. "I often wondered what became of you after you left the Kinkou Order."

The blond smiled. "I've been around the world Kennen. As much as I'd love to discuss that, however, I'm afraid what I have to tell you is a serious matter."

All four of the gathered individuals perked up at the sudden change in his tone. With everyone's undivided attention on him, Naruto continued.

"To make a long story short, Noxus plans to invade Ionia within a month." He revealed, shocking the group. "They've been growing in strength, and Swain wants revenge for his arm. I'm sure I don't need to tell you what a war with Noxus would result in."

Irelia was visibly distraught at the news. She didn't want to believe his words but Naruto had no reason to lie about something like this. If he spoke the truth, it would spell trouble for their home. Ionia wasn't united at the moment. Multiple factions had begun conflicts with each other after Noxus' first invasion.

"This is troubling news." Karma muttered out loud. "In its current state, Ionia stands no chance in a war against Noxus. The chance of victory is slim."

Kennen and Lee Sin agreed with her assessment, and the four began to discuss what preparations could be made for the coming conflict. Naruto mentally nodded to himself, things were going as he'd foreseen. All that was left was the final piece.

"Well, that's all I wanted to say. Now that you know, my job is done. I wish you luck." Naruto commented as he turned around and began to leave.

"Naruto, wait." Kennen called out.

The blond stopped in his tracks and smiled to himself. Kennen of all people knew how strong Naruto was, and also knew his strength could turn the tide of the war once it arrived.

Irelia and the others stared at Naruto's stationary form before turning their attention to Kennen who had yet to speak once more. He didn't have to, however, Naruto knew exactly why he was calling out to him.

"You want me to take part in the war." Naruto stated plainly. "I had a feeling this would happen. If I'm honest, I probably would have said no had it been anyone else asking, Kennen." He added.

Kennen smiled gratefully and nodded his head in thanks.

"I do have one thing to ask of you however." He continued, making everyone look at him with curiosity.

He stared at everyone with a serious look on his face. "After the invasion, I'm planning on returning to Valoran in order to take down Noxus and Demacia. I'm going to create my own empire." He declared.

The group was shocked at his declaration. What he was attempting was unheard of. They glanced at each other briefly in order to gauge the others' reactions. Naruto saw this and continued.

"I realize it's an ambitious endeavor and it's too much for one man to pull off no matter what kind of power he has. I would like the support of Ionia when the time comes."

"Allow us a moment." Irelia replied. The group moved away to the next pillar over to discuss among themselves. Naruto couldn't blame them, it was a big decision to make. They weren't stupid though, they would have to know the benefits that would be in it for them. With Noxus being wiped out, they would no longer need to worry about an invasion, and if they were to ally with him, Ionia would prosper since no one would dare stand against them.

It took about two hours of discussion before the group returned. Their faces were stoic but they couldn't hide the unease they felt. War was never pretty, and now one loomed in the future.

"As much as we would like to avoid conflict, if what you say is true, an invasion is unavoidable." Karma began. "We'll agree to aid you, so long as you defend Ionia with everything you have."

Naruto stepped forward and shook hands with everybody individually. When he got to Kennen, he couldn't help but quirk his lips up into a smile. "Looks like we'll be working together again. Just like old times huh?"
