Flashback 25 hours ago
'I can't do it' I thought while looking at the early graduation forum. All I had to do was sign my name and I would be able to become a shinobi if I tried hard enough. But I was scared. Scared of failure. I didn't want to fail the exam. Talking with ino lessened my worries but still. I wasn't good enough.
I sat up deciding to leave the area. Normally I'd be here with my friends, just training but they were all doing their own thing. Even naruto. I was alone with my thoughts. That is never good. I sighed. " I'll wait another year. I need to learn more anyways" I said to myself. I looked up. The meadow area I was in was beautiful. 'Too bad this is getting destroyed in a few years' I thought... I stiffened suddenly. I completely forgot about Pain. 5 years is all I had left until pain.
Pain had the power to absolutely wipe the floor with everyone here, even Naruto if he didn't have the help of Minato. And he nearly beat naruto too... And that's whilst crippled and out of energy.
I fear the power that the rinnegan brought to the world. Someone needed to destroy it... Or use it for actual good instead.
With the changes I made in the timeline already Naruto might never learn shadow clones. Which means he can't beat Pain. Someone needs to beat some sense into him... And make sure he doesn't genocide Konoha. Make sure none of my friends die.
That was the most important part to me. My friends. There was no such thing as plot armor in this world. People can actually die... People I care about. I sighed. I didn't want them to die, Not at all. I needed the power to protect them
Power I wouldn't get at the academy. There was only so much you could learn from a book. I needed a sensei. Preferably Kakashi or tenzo... actually tenzo. Kakashi probably couldn't teach Genin and tenzo seemed more serious about helping Naruto in canon.
I doubt tenzo would become a sensei though. Ha. I was likely to get some no name or some minor character. Fine with me. A jonin is a jonin. They can kick my ass all the same. I wanted to be better than that. I wanted to rise to legend levels...
No. Instead of fucking anbu. I would go higher... I wanted to make Madara look like a baby and the juubi like a mere genin... I needed to be prepared. I wanted to be prepared to protect my friends. I would go to the ends of the earth to hunt down Obito. I'd take the rinnegan for myself. Hell If I could I'd seal a bijuu inside of me I would... The first one that's free I can find I would seal it into me... Damn the consequences. I wanted power... I needed it to ensure the people I cared about wouldn't die.

This was the first quest I was actually shown before I completed it... I needed to complete this quest...
I made my choice.
As much as I didn't want to. I wanted to enjoy my second childhood for as long as possible. I wrote my name on the form.
Kukui Tanku.
If protagonist-kun can't be the protagonist... I would be protagonist-kun instead. Even if it killed me.
I began to walk away. I now knew what needed to be done... I now had the resolve to do what once scared me. I was still nervous as all hell though.
Flashback end
I looked at my hand as I reached the Hokage office. I remembered why I needed to do this. Mizuki was a roadblock in my path. If Orochimaru didn't have Edo Tensei then Kabuto wouldn't... Then that would make my life easier. Knowing the snake he would still find a way to get it though. I could still stop that from happening. I just needed to talk to the old man.
I ran up the stairs as fast as I could.
I saw the secretary for the office. "Hello, young man. What brings you here?" The woman asked kindly.
I looked at her with seriousness in my blue eyes. "There is a traitor. I need to tell the Hokage right away" I said and the woman looked alarmed.
"I see" She started knocking on the door to the Hokage's office.
"Yes?" Hiruzen said surprised
"Someone is here to see you. It's urgent, ``the woman said.
"I see they can come in," Hiruzen said seriously.
"Thank you," I said respectfully to the woman before entering the office.
"Kukui-kun. What was so urgent that brought you here?" Hiruzen asked seeing the look in my eye
"Mizuki Toji is a traitor. He convinced a failed graduate to steal the forbidden scroll of seals" I said with steel in my voice. Hiruzen looked alarmed.
"Are you sure? You are accusing someone of the highest form of treason" Hiruzen asked. This was the man that was called the god of shinobi. Not the grandfather of konoha.
I looked at the man. Fear wasn't a priority anymore. "Yes. I heard him telling the kid it was a special test that he decided to give him. He said to meet him somewhere around training ground four. I don't know where exactly though" I said. It was my duty as a shinobi of Konoha to report this
"I see... ANBU GATHER THE JONIN AND CHUNIN" Hiruzen shouted. Four signatures suddenly appeared and left
"What are my orders?" I asked. I was a konoha shinobi. A tool to the village. I wanted to help and capture Mizuki
"I can see your will of fire burns brightly" Hiruzen briefly smiled. " But it is too dangerous. Mizuki is a chunin, bordering on jonin. You can't do anything. to help, I'm afraid" Hiruzen said seriously. The tone in his voice said there was no room to argue.
"I'm a sensor. I can sense Mizuki's chakra" I reminded. I got a taste of it already... The foul chakra was just his.
"We have other sensors. You are just a child" Hiruzen said. That same tone from before was there but I had enough balls to try to go.
"That I may be. But I'm a shinobi of Konoha. It's my duty to hunt down Mizuki" I said sternly. I was one of the few people who actually had the balls to argue the Hokage.
Hiruzen sighed. "You have a point. That headband signifies that you are a proud shinobi of Konoha. It is your duty to protect this village and serve it" Hiruzen said. "Your first official mission as a Konoha shinobi is to track Mizuki Toji and make sure he doesn't get away. Your goal is to capture, Kill if you must. If you can wait for reinforcements. Am I understood?" Hiruzen asked with steel in his voice.
"I understand," I said.
"Good now go," Hiruzen said. I jumped to the window and opened it. I leaped out. I had a traitor to catch...
"Even the next generation picks up the habits of the sannin... He didn't even know about that habit" Hiruzen said as I jumped out.
Suddenly a lot of jonin entered the room along with the chunin
"Hokage-sama, why did you call us here?" One of them asked
"Mizuki Toji is a traitor. He has stolen the forbidden scroll of seals. You are all to go after him NOW" Hiruzen said and everyone promptly disappeared... All but one.
"That can't be true... Mizuki is my friend. He'd never betray Konoha" One Umino Iruka said
"I'm afraid he is. One of your old students reported him as a traitor after overhearing him tell a failed graduate to steal it" Hiruzen said sadly
"I need to investigate this myself. Kukui must have heard wrong" Iruka said before leaving.
Hiruzen opened his desk and pulled out his crystal ball. "It's about time I use this once more," The aged fire shadow said, dusting it off.
I felt a chakra signature behind me that wasn't Mizuki's. It was familiar to me. "Why are you following me ?" I asked in a monotone voice. I slowed down my tree hopping a bit so she could catch up.
"You sound like an emo. I'm following you because you are an idiot" She said after catching up to me. "Chasing after a chunin who apparently is a traitor, alone is dumb." She finished with an icy tone in her voice
'Troublesome. I think I understand Shikamaru now' I thought. "Thanks for the concern but there will be reinforcements here soon. The help will be needed for now though" I smiled. I hadn't expected this but hey help is always going to be nice. "I do take offense to being called an emo though" I finished, mock glaring at my fellow genin... for at least a few days
"You acted like one. Now I'm assuming you're a sensor. Can you sense the bastard?" Mika asked in a serious tone. It was business time now.
"Yep... Quite obvious. Mizuki is just ahead. We need to be stealthy" I said and Mika nodded. "By the way, I never asked for your name. I'd like to know the name of my teammate for this mission" I said quietly. "Mine's kukui" I finished with a smiled
"Mika" She simply said.
We continued tree hopping...
'Now Tsuko. Give me the scroll" I heard Mizuki say. I pulled out a kunai. I looked at Mika and she nodded.
'Sprinting' I called out mentally and threw the kunai at Mizuki's upper back. It hit... a log.
"Damn it" I muttered.
"Well, well, well... The fox's friend and the Uchiha. What brings you here?" Mizuki asked. The cocky tone in his voice was very irritating. I already wanted to punch him.
"We're here to stop you, traitor," Mika said angrily. She must have hated traitors... a lot. You know it was weird. She was pale for an Uchiha.
"Haha that's gold. You think you... fresh out of the academy, genin can beat me. Im almost considered a jonin" Mizuki bragged. I looked at the failed genin. He was terrified. I even noticed his pants were damp. Ooh boy.
"Yes, we do... It's two versus one. We can beat you" I said... I was confident in my skill. Mika also looked talented from what I saw of her skill. Now I knew this was do or probably get the shit beat out of me and Mika.
"Man you sure think you're some hot stuff don't you? Im going to enjoy this" Mizuki said and suddenly I felt a foot in my stomach.
"Shit" I croaked out, getting sent back into a branch of the tree behind me. Mika quickly jumped back towards me after throwing a kunai with an explosive tag attached to it at Mizuki
I quickly got up. "We need to work together for sure," I said and Mika simply nodded once more.
We settled into our taijutsu stances... It was time to fight.
We rushed toward Mizuki, My fist poised for his face. Mika's poised for his ribs. Mizuki grabbed both of our hands.
"Childs Play." He scoffed. Mizuki kicked Mika away just as she was about to land a kick on him. I pulled out a kunai and attempted to stab Mizuki in the side. He let go of my other hand and grabbed the other hand with the kunai forcing me to let go of it.
"Fire style: Great fire ball jutsu" I heard Mika shout a few meters away. Suddenly a flaming ball of well fire came at me and Mizuki. I kawarimied out of the way. As did Mizuki. I threw a volley of shuriken at Mizuki which he just blocked with a kunai. Shit. Suddenly a flurry of kunai came toward Mizuki from beside him. I decided to pressure him from my side. I threw another volley of shuriken at him attached to ninja wire The ninja wire surrounded Mizuki after he blocked and dodged the shuriken and kunai
*Poof!* Suddenly I felt a kunai graze my back. I quickly kawarimied once more to Mika. I looked back and saw Mizuki's ugly smirk looking back at me
"We're being overpowered. By chance do you have anything that can help us here?" Mika asked quickly. She spat another fireball at Mizuki. That gave me an idea.
"No. But I have an idea" I smirked. It was simple but hey I was a simple guy.
"Spill it," Mika said as he jumped away from Mizuki. He was toying with us
"Shoot a fireball into the sky" I said simply Dodging another kick.
"You think that'll work? That'll just waste chakra!" Mizuki exclaimed before jumping back. He started looking through hand signs. "Earth-style" Earth bullet jutsu!" Mizuki exclaimed spitting out a bunch of earth bullets
"SCATTER!" I exclaimed in distress. Me and Mika went in different directions. Me left and her right. I felt a few bullets hit my back
"A-are you okay?" I heard someone ask. It was the kid who stole the scroll, he ditched it on the ground. It was open too. I saw an opportunity.
I grinned. "I am but you need to get the hell out of here" I said to the kid with a serious voice
"What about t-the scroll?" The kid stuttered out. He was clearly terrified.
I smiled at the kid who was older than me. "I can take care of it. I can hide it from Mizuki without a problem. Now go!" I exclaimed after pulling out a blank scroll. I would only copy one jutsu... I didn't have much time to be picky
"O-okay... " The kid said tearfully before running away
"Come out where ever you are kiddies. It's time to play," Mizuki cackled out. Yep, I didn't have much time at all. I sensed only Mizuki around me. Mika was probably hiding somewhere else.
I opened the scroll

I felt my stomach twist. This was sick. I quickly scribbled the jutsu down. It was simple enough so fuck it. I would have words with tobirama if I ever met the man about this one. This sounded like something he'd make. Quickly I sealed the scroll in an actual storage scroll and my scroll in a different one.
I put the scroll in my pocket.
"So you found the scroll huh? What a shame. I wanted to get to it before you pests" Mizuki said from behind me, sounding truly sad. "No matter, I'll just take the scroll from your carcass," Mizuki said evilly. I kawarimied away from him and managed to kick him in the head.
"You snooze, you lose asshole," I remarked. I looked above me only to see a flaming ball in the sky. "About damn time," I said. I activated sprinting and pulled out my tanto. Mizuki pulled out a kunai. I rushed towards the man in a blur
Strikes of my tanto were being blocked. punches were thrown by Mizuki whilst kicks were thrown by me. I was walking backward. Eventually, slashes started to make their way through. Not mine though. I managed to disarm Mizuki. He also disarmed me. Sprinting had run out too
I grabbed Mizuki's arm. He tried to sweep out my legs. I jumped and kicked his chest. He grabbed my other hand and came back to headbutt me.
'Oh for fucks sake how long is it going to take before the anbu get here?' I wondered in my mind after getting kicked away
Quickly I jumped back onto the tree looking at Mizuki. I smiled. I had been neglecting my knowledge of other media. Time to make history. "It's over Mizuki, I have the high ground," I said with a shit-eating grin on my face.
"What the fuck are you talking about?" Mizuki asked.
I threw a kunai at him. He promptly dodged. I kawarimied over to Mizuki using the holy log.
"Bastard child," He said, kicking me away before I could do anything.
I was starting to hurt a lot. He was still toying with me. I need energy... Fuck that jutsu might actually be useful. I wasted a lot of chakra on kawarimis. Suddenly Mizuki entered my guard. Mizuki's fist went for my lung. I blocked it but suddenly I felt my other lung get repeatedly beaten. I quickly got off another kawarimi. God, bless the holy log.
I felt danger sense activate and I dodged A kunai that Mizuki threw. I looked at the traitor.
"Why won't you just give up? Your friend abandoned you, and nobody is coming for you" Mizuki asked. He pulled a fuma shuriken off of his back. Oh shit.
I laughed. "I have a reason to live. My friends will be sad if I die..." I said with another boisterous laugh.
"Your friends... Your friends with a fucking demon... You're a demon lover aren't you?" Mizuki asked, pissed
"Why do you keep calling him a demon? He isn't a demon asshole. So why do you keep calling him that?" I asked infuriated. I didn't like Mizuki in canon for being a dick. Same applies here.
Mizuki looked infuriated as well after I asked why. "That fox is a demon... YOU ARE A DEMON LOVER WHO SHOULD DIE" Mizuki shouted in anger. "YOUR FRIEND IS THE NINE TAILED DEMON FOX" Mizuki shouted in anger.
'As dumb as he looks huh' I thought. I activated running. I didn't have much energy points left so I needed to downgrade. I rushed toward Mizuki. "EVEN IF NARUTO IS THE DEMON FOX. HE STILL IS MY FRIEND" I shouted in anger. I quickly grabbed my tanto from the ground and pointed it at Mizuki
Mizuki threw the fuma shuriken. I kawarimied out of the way and suddenly I felt a kunai enter my shoulder.
"FUCK" I shouted in pain. It was a hot searing pain. I dropped my tanto once more.
"You may have dodged my fuma shuriken. But now your arm is useless" Mizuki said gleefully after walking in front of me. Ego would be the downfall of him... Real hypocritical of me.
"Go fuck yourself. You Blue haired, ugly ass, Jabba the Hutt looking shit bag" I croaked out in pain. The venom in my voice was noticeable.
"Im not even going to ask who Jabba the Hutt is. But it's time to die" Mizuki said. "Any last words?" He asked his voice now neutral
I stretched out my senses. I felt a very similar chakra signature... How I knew it was familiar I didn't know. "I... win" I said joyfully
"What?"
Kakashi hatake POV
"We're close. Kukui's chakra is close by... as is Mizuki's." Iruka said nervously. Understandable. Nobody wants to find out their friend is a traitor. I'd be broken if Obito was actually alive and a traitor.
"We need to speed up. " The girl with us said. One of the survivors of the massacre. Itachi left after the Hokage himself showed up...
I nodded. I agreed with the girl. Mizuki was a chunin, bordering on jonin. A mere genin fresh out of the academy can't handle him alone. I'm honestly surprised he's still alive. "Agreed. We need to speed up, Kukui probably needs help" I said for once seriously... 'Oh Misa you sly girl' I giggled... Nothing would stop me from reading the masterpiece known as icha icha paradise...
"Pervert" The girl muttered.
"You just can't appreciate the masterpiece known as icha icha paradise yet" I retorted
"Shut up you two. We're here" Iruka said quietly.
"Oh admit it. You love the wonders of icha icha as well" I pushed. I had seen the man read icha icha violence. I knew he loved the franchise too.
Iruka blushed. "No, I don't," The man said sternly.
"Idiots," The girl quietly said.
We reached Kukui and Mizuki
"Go fuck yourself. You Blue haired, ugly ass, Jabba the Hutt looking shit bag" Kukui croaked out . The venom in his voice was noticeable.
"Im not even going to ask who Jabba the Hutt is. But it's time to die" Mizuki said. "Any last words?" He asked his voice now neutral
Kukui perked up suddenly. "I... win" Kukui said joyfully
"What?"
I took that as my sign to enter.
Kukui POV
Suddenly I saw Kakashi enter my vision. "Took a while cyclops" I said, holding my shoulder. I felt like passing out
"You look like crap," Kakashi said, ignoring my insult.
"Okay captain obvious" I heard Mika say. Well this is why she was gone for so long
"Why Mizuki? Why are you doing this?" I heard someone ask. It was Iruka
Mizuki looked around. He was surrounded. " I wasn't getting the power and respect I deserved" Mizuki gritted out angrily rushing toward Kakashi. Kunai in hand. Kakashi grabbed his hand lazily
"You may have won the battle. But I have won the war" I smiled at Mizuki...
"You bastard... you stalled" Mizuki spat out with venom. He was knocked out by Kakashi with a chop
"And that's a wrap. Scroll please" Kakashi said. I pulled out the scroll with the scroll inside and gave it to him
"Tell the hokage to hide it better... Or burn it" I said tiredly.
"It's weird that you sealed it away but understandable. It would have been a burden to carry. Need help?" Kakashi asked after seeing my shoulder wound
"Yeah actually can you take me to the hospital" I said finally passing out.

That's why I included the flashback) Anyways there will be more flash backs from now on... Also yes kukui is already back in the hospital. Chapter 16. Chapter 17 will be the aftermath of the mizuki incident and 18 will be team placements. Also Happy thanksgiving everyone!
Well time for the boring shit.
So well I need to actually find teammates for kukui... Also to the guy in the reviews who guessed Mika would be on the team(And possible waifu... You're wrong about that. I haven't decided pairings yet) You were right. I was thinking of having Neji on the team but I have no ideas for a sensei yet. (Also thank you. You pointed out a few issues I need to solve in later chapters. More of kukui's training will be shown later. And the uchiha clan shit will too. Don't you all worry. Also thanks for leaving those reviews! I enjoyed seeing them)
Anyways as for kukui's quest for power... Well, I figured why not. It won't happen any time soon and well... I just want an excuse for kukui to have a rinnegan later on.
Now As for the blood jutsu... I didn't come up with that. God bless the naruto fanfiction discord server and its people for helping me with ideas sometimes. It was either this or alchemy. I wanted kukui to learn an original jutsu anyways.
That brings us to here. So do you guys want me to have kukui use other abilities from different anime and from video games? Like he just creates them to the best of his abilities in the naruto world. I had this idea for a bit now but I want to see if you all would be okay with it.
