And here we go for the beginning of my favorite arc, the Chaos arc. This chapter is also another one of Chuggaaconroy's favorites. Again, wonder what he would think about my DLC content. Fair warning that this chapter contains some traumatizing flashbacks and probably a few scenes that might be shocking/disturbing for you to witness. But anyways, you already know the disclaimer, so enjoy!

Chapter 18: The Ring of Chaos + DLC: Pit's Nightmare

No music playing yet

Three years later, Pit slowly woke up and was confused about what happened earlier. "Uh... Where am I?" he groaned. "Lady Palutena? Can you hear me? No answer. Pit started to think about what happened earlier. "The last thing I remember is defeating the Aurum. But then..." He then noticed something that came into his view. "Hey, what's that?" he wondered. "Is it...a ring?" He continued to think about what happened. "My head is all kinds of foggy right now..." he continued. "And why is the name Chaos Kin stuck in my brain?" Suddenly, he felt a hand pick up the ring. "Huh?!" he gasped. "Whoa, whoa—what's happening?!" The hand belonged to a little girl who slowly observed it. "Oh. What a cute little ring," she said. "I wonder what it was doing here." (A/N: In the game, the girl doesn't talk. So, I decided to give her a little dialogue like other characters. I haven't revealed her name I made up yet. Let's just continue reading so that you can find out soon enough.) Then Pit started to realize something. "Either I'm crazy or... I'M THE RING!" he exclaimed. "I wonder if this ring would fit me," said the girl. "I can't just sit around. I have to try to do SOMETHING," Pit continued. The girl then putted the ring on her finger. "Hey! It does fit!" she exclaimed. "OK... Move!" said Pit. Suddenly, he was now fully in control of the girl's movements.

"She's moving! I'm... I'm moving her!" Pit exclaimed as he began to move forward in the girl's body. "So...I can control anyone who wears this ring? I hope she doesn't mind if I borrow her feet for just a little bit. I have to find out what happened. This isn't easy... It feels like I'm wearing a suit of armor. That's too small." Pit/The girl continued onwards in order to figure out what was going on. Suddenly, Pit saw centurions flying down into the Decimated Town. "Hey! Are those centurions?" he wondered. "That town looks like it's in trouble. Lady Palutena must have sent troops in to help. I'd better head there too and see if there's anything I can do. I hate to put this little girl in danger, but other people in the town might need help." Pit continued onwards to see if he can find any more information about what is going on. But then, he accidentally tripped. "Oof!" he groaned, and then the ring fell out of the girl's finger. The girl suddenly regained her balance and senses. "Huh? What happened?" she wondered. "Oh no no no no no no!" Pit exclaimed in panic as the ring rolled through the ground. The girl saw the ring again. "I remember finding that ring and then everything went dark," she said. "I wonder what happened." She went to pick up the ring again until a dog found it too. (A/N: As you already know, I'm not telling you the name of the dog yet either until the near end of the chapter. Let's move on.) He began to sniff it. "Hey boy," said the girl. "Do you know anything about that ring?" The dog responded by grabbing the ring in his mouth, allowing Pit to take control over him this time.

"I...guess I'm a dog now," said Pit as he began to move forward in the dog's body. "This is getting weirder and weirder... But where'd the little girl go? Hmm. She must have run off. Anyway, on to the town! I gotta be careful not to drop the ring. So that means no more mouth breathing. And no crazy barking. And no eating delicious garbage off the ground... Not that I would, of course." But what Pit didn't know is that the girl was following the dog. "Huh? Where is he going?" she wondered. "I better follow him to see why our Goddess of Light is turning against us." Pit/The dog and the girl continued onwards to figure out what is going on. Just then, they saw Pit's Body, who was possessed by Devil Pit, attacking from up above. "Hey... Is that...?" the girl gasped. "Hey! That looks like...like me!" Pit exclaimed. "Oh, man—this can't be happening. Who am I attacking? And who's controlling ME? Everything's gone off the rails! Now what am I supposed to do? Take myself down? I guess I don't have a choice!" The two of them continued onwards to find Pit's Body/Devil Pit and stop this madness from continuing. Along the way, they encountered more and more centurions. But to their surprise, they didn't do anything to attack them. "U-Um..." one of them said. "Do you think he'll be mad if we don't do anything as he ordered?" "Listen, something is clearly wrong here," said another one. "We need to protect the humans from those monsters. Lady Palutena has gone crazy because of the Ex-Captain!" "R-Right," replied the first one. "Let's get back to work." Meanwhile, Pit/the dog and the girl continued onwards to find Devil Pit. "Good thing the centurions are on patrol," said Pit. "This square's looking rough. Heh heh... Um...right. Anyway." "Oh... I sure hope that things will get better once the angel returns to normal," said the girl, worried about the whole chaos. "I really want to help him. WE want to help him." Then Pit stopped and smelled something up ahead. "What is it, boy?" asked the girl. "Hey, something smells really good," said Pit. "This new sniffer is really doing its job. Is that garbage? Beef garbage? Man, I am SO hungry! Why am I craving garbage? Oh no no no! Stop drooling, stop drooling! The slobber's getting the ring all wet! Ugh, I'm grossing myself out!" They continued onwards slowly as they pass through more centurions. "I'm not so sure if we should do as he says," said one of them. "I'm sorry, but we have to," said the other one. "If we don't do anything as he told us, he'll have us executed. This is much worse than what he did to use all those years ago." "You do have a point," said the first one. "But still! We need to be careful!" Pit/The dog and the girl then went through a hole and up some stairs through another damaged building. The girl was still curious about what is going on around the Decimated Town. "I sure hope those centurions don't do anything to us," she wondered. "I know for a fact that the angel NEVER hurts us humans. Something is very wrong." "I can probably move forward if I can get over those narrow walkways," said Pit. "Good thing I'm a dog. I mean, it's not exactly good, but at least I'm small." They continued onwards carefully through the dangerous damaged building and exited through another hole. Then they saw someone very familiar. "Magnus?!" Pit gasped. "Hey! It's the guy that saved us with the angel back at that castle!" the girl exclaimed. "Wait! Is he fighting the centurions?!" "But why's he fighting the centurions?!" Pit wondered in shock. "Mr. Muscle Man! Wait a minute!" the girl called out, but Magnus was too busy fighting the centurions to notice her voice. "Magnus! Over here!: Pit called out, too, but Magnus cannot hear Pit because he couldn't talk as a dog. "Aw... He can't hear me," Pit groaned. They then noticed that Magnus was walking away. "Wait! Don't go!" Pit yelped. "You need to tell me what's going on!" He rushed to Magnus and then hopped on his back. "Hey! Hey! How's it going?" he asked to the familiar human. Magnus couldn't seem to know what the dog was even trying to tell him. "Listen, you gotta take this ring," said Pit, who was using the dog's mouth to give Magnus the ring. "Go on! Take it!" Magnus took the ring away from the dog, allowing him to regain his senses. The dog rushed back to the girl. He barked happily to see her again and licked her face quickly. "I'm glad to see that you're okay!" she replied while giggling. "But what happened? You suddenly followed that human very quickly." The dog ruffed and tilted his head in confusion. Magnus slowly began to observe the ring. "Yes! Great! Now put it on your finger!" said Pit. But Magnus still slowly observed the ring while the girl and dog watched what was going on. "Now that I think about it, did you notice that everything when dark when you picked up the ring with your mouth?" the girl asked the dog. The dog nodded. "Hmm... I wonder if it's him..." the girl wondered. "Come on! Put it on! Put it on!" Pit begged. But then Magnus threw the ring away. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Pit exclaimed in fear and panic. "No, no, no, no! Pick it back up!" Magnus couldn't hear him and began to walk away. "Where are you going? Don't go! Don't go! Put the ring on! You can always pawn it!" Pit begged even more. "It's a little slobbery, but I'm sure it's worth a lot. Come on, don't make me beg! PLEASE take the ring!" That's when the girl decided to help. He ran towards the ring, picked it up, and rushed to Magnus. She then tugged on his arm. "Um... Mister...?" she asked. "What do you want, kid?" Magnus asked. "In case if you couldn't tell, I'm on a tight schedule here." "S-Sorry, but you really need to put on this ring," the girl responded and pulled her hand out to show it. "Go on! Something magical might happen." Magnus thought for a moment before shrugging. "Fine," he sighed. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to put it on." He took the ring from the girl's hand and put it on his finger. Suddenly, Pit began to take control over him. "Yes! Thank YOU! Woo-hoo!" Pit exclaimed in relief. "What's that shrill little voice? he wondered before suddenly realizing who it was coming from. "...Wait, are you that angel?" Pit nodded while controlling Magnus' body.

Music stops and switches to: Magnus' Theme

"It worked!" the girl exclaimed. "Now he can help us!" The dog barked in agreement. "Neat! We can talk to each other," said Pit. "First you take over my body, and now I have to listen to your yapping? Great." Magnus groaned. "Don't worry—I'll be super extra careful with your body," Pit responded. "Right. No offense, but why exactly are you in MY body instead of your own?" Magnus questioned. "I don't know!" Pit answered. "Seems like only yesterday when you and I were fighting together." This shocked Magnus after hearing what his recent angel ally just said. "Yesterday?!" he exclaimed. "Try THREE YEARS, buddy." This left Pit shocked about what he heard. "WHAT?! Three years? That's impossible!" he exclaimed, taken aback about how long it has been. "You have to tell me what's going on!" Magnus tried to explain about the whole situation. "How's this for starters?" he started. "You've become the enemy of all mankind." Pit doesn't seem to believe in Magnus about his explanation. "What?! Stop messing with me," he responded in disbelief. "What's going on with him?" the girl asked the dog. The dog barked in response, confused about the situation. "So this IS news to you, said Magnus. Then he continued the explanation about what was going on. "Remember the war between the Forces of Nature, Underworld, and Palutena's army? Just when it seemed like the war was over, everyone in Palutena's army vanished." Pit was confused about that. "Vanished?! Where'd we go?!" he asked. "Beats me," said Magnus before he continued. "But your absence let the Underworld keep attacking us humans. Then you all reappeared. But instead of helping us, you started going after us too! So now we humans have the Underworld and Palutena's army trying to wipe us out! No one knows what happened. Did your goddess just lose her mind?" "Don't ask me. I've been a ring," Pit responded. "But I know I have to do something. There must be some way we can reason with her." "Well, maybe YOU can," said Magnus. "I'm not even sure if she's controlling her own army anymore." "OK, first things first. That guy attacking the town? That wasn't me," said Pit. "So your mind is here, but your body is over there destroying stuff?" said Magnus. "Isn't that convenient. Tell that to all the people your body just killed." "Look, I didn't exactly plan it this way," said Pit. "Whether you did or not, there's nothing I can do for you now," said Magnus. "You've got my body. So you're going to have to get rid of the other Pit. Ironically, that's why I was here in the first place." "Well, if that's our only option, I guess that's the plan!" Pit responded. "Careful with my body, though. I'm gonna need it later," said Magnus before pointing something out. "We also need to protect this kid and dog over here! Having them with us is a big risk!" "What?! They're following us?!" Pit asked in disbelief. "Sure looks like it," Magnus replied. "They're probably curious about what was going on as well. We just need to keep them safe so that we can tell them the truth once we bring your mind back to your body." "Got it! I sure hope we can protect them very well!" Pit affirmed. The girl and dog were indeed followed Pit/Magnus. "That muscular man sure does know how to take down bad guys!" said the girl. "But I can tell that there's something very wrong going on here." The dog barked in agreement. "I know, but we better be careful and not get in that big guy's way," the girl continued. "Let's stay close... b-but not too close." The trio then continued onwards while Pit took down more centurions, though since he was in Magnus' body, he was more reluctant to do so. "It just feels wrong going up against centurions," he said. "Pit, there are tons of them," Magnus replied. "Nobody's going to notice if a few go missing. And don't you forget that it's my hide on the line here. Not to mention that most of them might be going after our little companions. So we better protect them if they're going to hurt them." "You're right!" Pit agreed. However, there we a few centurions hiding away from the trio and noticed what Pit/Magnus was doing. "Does this mean there is still hope that our Captain is still alive?" asked one of them. "I'm sure that he is," replied another one. "I sure hope that he can do anything to stop our Ex-Captain!" But while they were talking, Pit's Body/Devil Pit appeared right behind them. They turned around in horror to see him. "O-Oh! C-Captain! W-We didn't think you would-" started the first centurion, but before he could continue, Devil Pit wasted not time and ruthlessly murdered them in cold blood. What a bunch of idiots, he thought. To think they could stop me by telling the others. I better follow him as quietly as possible. He flew away to follow the trio. Meanwhile, the trio continued onwards and encountered Centurion Knights. "Those are Centurion Knights," said Pit. "You don't need to go in with guns blazing, you know," said Magnus "Try working your way through without getting noticed." Pit did so and got through the knights so that they didn't see them. But Devil Pit was on their trail and found out that they didn't do anything to stop the trio. "C-Captain!" one of them said. "Listen we-" But before he could continue, Devil Pit murdered them right on the spot with his weapon. This is what happens when you disobey my orders, soldiers, he thought. Then he saw innocent humans hiding from his cold stare. I would love to kill you right now, but I'm on a tight schedule, he continued in thought. Consider this as a warning! He then flew away from the humans to follow the trio. The humans ran away in fear about losing their lives because of the monster. Back to the trio, they entered a room where they encountered a Centurion Strongarm. "Aww, look at that cute little fella," said Magnus. "I liked it better when the Centurion Strongarms were on my side," said Pit. "They're basically all muscle. Even their brains are muscle." "Just like you, right, buddy?" Magnus asked the angel. "Hey! I'm strong where it counts!" the angel exclaimed. "Sure you are," sighed the human. They continued onwards with Pit/Magnus fighting the enemies, while the girl and dog followed them. "I sure hope he knows what he's doing," said the girl. "I really want to bring back the angel I know and love!" The dog barked in agreement. Pit/Magnus continued to take down more enemies with their companions following them. They soon encountered a Juggernaut. "Last I knew, Juggernauts were still in the design phase," said Pit. "Well, they look real enough now," Magnus replied. "We started developing them as a defensive measure after the Hewdraw attack," Pit continued. "I never thought they'd be used for evil..." "Just stay clear of those stones," Magnus warned. "One of those could wreck me." Pit/Magnus soon took it down impressing the girl and dog a lot more. "He sure is strong for a man!" exclaimed the girl, amazed. The dog barked in agreement, amazed as well. The trio then continued onwards while Pit/Magnus took down more enemies. Then they entered a room with more centurions waiting for them. "Look at this happy little family," said Magnus. "They won't be happy when I'm done with them! Hoo-ah!" exclaimed Pit while taking them out. "Is that supposed to sound like me?" Magnus questioned. "'Cause it doesn't." They soon took them down and proceeded. They continued onwards until they entered a room with a Crawler fighting the centurions. "That's a big one!" gasped the girl. The dog barked in agreement. "Oh, man!" Pit gasped. "Why are there so many enemies today?" Magnus questioned. "What, was MinionMart having a sale?" "Those centurions are fighting an Underworld Crawler," said Pit. "I guess this means Lady Palutena is still battling the Underworld Army." "So at the very least, Hades hasn't seized command of Palutena's army," said Magnus. "Then who does that leave?" Pit wondered in shock. "And where IS Lady Palutena anyway?" "I just want the angel to be back to normal," the girl sighed in worry. "We just can't let this chaos continue." The dog barked in both agreement and worry. Pit/Magnus soon took down the enemies and exited the room with the girl and dog following them. Just then, they found a Hot Spring and a Souflee. "Hey! There's a Souflee soaking in the Hot Spring!" Pit exclaimed. "You know what they say. If you chase two rabbits, they'll both escape," said Magnus. The trio decided to enter the Hot Spring. "Yeah, that's the stuff," Pit sighed in relaxation. "Hot springs don't usually heal humans," said Magnus. "You must be having an effect on me." "THIS is how you enjoy a hot spring!" Pit explained. "Step one: breathe deep. Step two: clear mind." "OK..." Magnus replied. "Step three: remove pants," Pit finished. "Wait—what? No, those are MY pants!" Magnus exclaimed. The girl and the dog were also enjoying the Hot Spring. "Wow. This really is relaxing!" said the girl. "I never knew Hot Springs would feel so good!" The dog barked and pant in agreement and relaxation. "Well at least our company loves these Hot Springs, too," said Magnus. "I guess they're just like me!" Pit agreed. After that little relaxation, the trio continued onwards. Pit/Magnus found a hidden area and entered it to reveal a Zodiac Chamber. They collected the Aries Armor and then exited to continue their mission. They went up a hill to find Devil Pit only for them to be ambushed by more centurions. Pit/Magnus wasted no time and took them down. "I think we're getting closer to the angel's body," said the girl. The dog nodded and they watched the angel/human take them down. After that, the continued onwards. "We should be getting close," said Magnus. "Are you ready?" They then drank another Drink of the Gods and entered the arena, while the girl and dog hid behind the entrance for safety.

Pit/Magnus soon saw Pit's Body coming down in the arena with the Darkness Bow equipped. Devil Pit in Pit's Body stared coldly at his enemies. "Hey! That's MY body!" Pit exclaimed. "We've got to take him down...WITHOUT killing him," said Magnus. The girl and the dog quickly peeked to see the battle about to begin. "It really is the angel!" the girl exclaimed. "I hope the human can turn him back to normal." The dog nodded and whimpered in agreement. Devil Pit saw Pit and smiled sinisterly. Now let us see what you can do, he thought. Then he also saw the girl and the dog. And once I'm done with you, you'll be joining him soon enough, he added. The girl and dog quickly hid behind the entrance again before the battle began. Devil Pit in Pit's Body started the fight by shooting charged shots at Pit/Magnus, while angel in the human's body avoided it. "You're tough, Magnus, but I'm no slouch either," said Pit. "You're the only member of Palutena's army who can carry his own weight," Magnus replied. "Don't even get me started on the centurions. Yeah, there's a ton of them, but they're all pretty flimsy." "They're grunts. What do you expect?" said the angel. "There's no incentive for them to toughen up—they get revived when they die." "What are you talking about? So do you!" replied the human. "Well, yeah, but...I can't help it if Lady Palutena has my back!" responded the angel. Devil Pit still tried to take him down with his attacks, while Pit continued to fight back with his attacks as well. You're good, Pit, the Devil thought. But not good enough! You will die here and rot as a dead rotten corpse. "OK, it looks like the thing to do is focus on dodging and not getting hit," said Pit. "I guess I should've played more Light vs. Dark to train..." However, Devil Pit still can read Pit's mind despite being in his own body. I can hear you in that body your possessing, you know! he thought. Stop breaking the fourth wall! "This battle is so scary!" exclaimed the girl. "I just want the angel back!" The dog whimpered and nodded in agreement. Soon enough, Devil Pit in Pit's Body was defeated. Shit! I lost! he exclaimed in thought and defeat. "Now give me back my body!" exclaimed Pit in victory. "OK, let's get this ring on him," said Magnus. Devil Pit was knocked unconscious after that big battle. After taking off the ring, Magnus moved to Pit's Body. The girl and dog came out of the hiding spot and rushed to where Magnus and Pit's Body were. "Let me help you," said the girl as she lifted the angel's arm up. "Thanks, kid," said Magnus. The girl smiled and Magnus then putted the ring on Pit's finger, causing it to shatter and disappear. "Pit!" said Magnus as he slowly shook the angel. "...Come on! Wake up!" "Please, Mr. Angel!" said the girl. "I know you're in your own body now!" Soon enough, Pit slowly started to wake up in his own body. "Unnnngh..." he groaned before he was fully awake. "Hmm?!" He then hopped on his feet and struke a pose. "I'm back in the game!" he exclaimed. "Well, that did the trick," said Magnus. "Mr. Angel!" exclaimed the girl as she rushed to him and hugged him tightly. She also began to sob in tears of happiness. Pit lowered himself down to his knees and hugged her back. "I'm so happy to see you again!" the girl cried. "Thank goodness you're okay!" The dog barked happily and rushed to Pit and snuggled with him. "I'm glad to be back!" Pit replied. He then turned to his human ally. "Thanks, Magnus! Without you and the others, I wouldn't be back in my body." "Eh, it was nothing," Magnus replied, though he did indeed smiled a bit. "Mr. Angel, I think you should return back home," said the girl. "Your goddess is waiting for your return." "Yeah but... There's only one thing..." Pit responded. "How am I supposed to get back to Skyworld?" "Why don't you just fly?" asked Magnus. "Flying, getting extracted from battle—that's all Lady Palutena's doing," said Pit. He then looked at the sky to try and call the Goddess of Light. "Lady Palutena! Can you hear me?! I need your help!" he called, but there was no response. "I can't fly without you! Please help me! Please give me the power to fly back to the heavens...and back to you!" "I'm afraid that it's no use, Pit!" said a sinister voice. Suddenly, Pit fell to his knees and received a painful migraine. He also began to shake violently. "AAARRGGGHH!" he yelled in pain. "Pit?!" exclaimed Magnus. "What's happening to you?!" "M-My head!" Pit yelped. "It... IT HURTS!" "Mr. Angel!" the girl yelled in horror. The dog howled at the sight of this chaos. Just then, Pit got back up, screamed in pain, and out came from his body was the very sinister, very scary, Devil Pit.

Everyone watched in horror to see the Devil right in front of their eyes. Devil Pit smiled sinisterly to see Pit again. "I'm honestly surprised you managed to get your body back with the help of those humans and that canine," he said. "Although, that young girl and dog do seem very familiar to me." "W-What do you mean?" Pit asked. "Let's just say...they witnessed what I began three years ago before I was captured," Devil Pit replied. The girl gasped about what he said and she, along with the dog, remembered something.

Three years ago, Devil Pit burnt the entire forest to the ground with pyrokinesis. "Excellent," he said. "This is where the War of Chaos will begin soon enough." He was about to walk away when he heard a dog barking. He turned around to see a stray dog barking at him. "Get out of my way!" he yelled at him. "I have work to do! If you don't move out of the way, then I'll be forced to kill you!" But the dog refused to listen and instead continued barking at Devil Pit. But turns out, he wasn't actually alone. "Hey, boy, what's going on?" squeaked a young voice. That voice came from a little girl, who was the dog's owner. "Sweetie, is something wrong?" called a new voice. "Wait! That guy looks dangerous!" called another one. "Get back here to safety!" The voices came from the girl's parents who ran up to their daughter and her dog. Devil Pit saw this chance as his new victims. "So... If I feel pain..." he said to himself. "Then others should feel the exact same." He then turned to the girl and her family. "If you don't want to get yourselves killed, I suggest you turn back now!" he yelled. "N-no!" squeaked the girl. "We cannot let you leave for doing something bad!" "Very well..." said Devil Pit. He then proceeded to beat and murder the girl's parents in cold blood right in front of her, and her dog's, eyes. "Mommy! Daddy!" the girl cried in horror as her dog howled and whimpered to see this happening. After he finished, he left to move on to the next step, but that was when Thanatos and Pandora captured him. The girl ran to her parents' corpses and mourned over their deaths. "N-no! NNNNOOOOOOO!" she cried while her dog howled in sadness.

End flashback

The girl began to cry in tears as she pointed at Devil Pit. "I-It... It's you!" she yelled. "You're the one that killed mommy and daddy!" Her dog growled in anger to see his owner's parents' murderer. "Oh. So you do remember me," said Devil Pit. "I guess killing my first mortal victims surly did pay off." "What's going on?" asked Magnus. "How do you know him, kid?" "Wait a minute..." Pit began. He then remembered what Hades told him back at the Phoenix Mountain when he made the fake Wish Seed.

Begin flashback

"You see this poor child?" Hades started, sending Pit a picture of a girl and two coffins. "Both of her parents are dead. Awww... There was an unfortunate accident, if you know what I mean." "You mean you murdered them!" Pit suspected, while fighting more enemies. "It was a simple case of distracted chariot driving," Hades continued, although he was actually lying about doing that. "I shouldn't have been doing my hair. Anyway, I was hoping to use the Wish Seed to bring back the parents." He then sent Pit another picture of the girl with a cake and two zombie parents. "Can you think of anything more joyous than a family reunion?" he continued. Then he gave Pit a picture about the same people with loadsamoney. "Then after that, they'd strike it rich—like, rolling-in-dough rich!" he continued further. And finally, he gave Pit a picture of all of them in crowns while he was in an Exo Tank fighting enemies. "And then we'd slap crowns on all of them and make 'em royalty!" he concluded. "And that's the general gist of my wish. Pretty noble and not at all evil, right? I can't think of anyone MORE deserving of the Wish Seed than yours truly."

End flashback

"The parents... The child... Hades told me..." Pit began in fear and disbelief. "I... I thought that..." Then his eyes were filled with tears of anger and sadness as he yelled at Devil Pit, "YOU MEAN YOU WERE THE ONE THAT KILLED HER PARENTS?!" "So, Hades told you what I did," said Devil Pit. "Yes. It was me. What's funny is that you accused Hades as the murderer and now you figured out that it was me." "HOW COULD YOU?!" Pit yelled. "YOU REALLY ARE A MONSTER! FIRST YOU DEVOURED HUMANS AFTER KILLING THEM BACK AT THE RESET BOMB FOREST LIKE A GUTTLER AND NOW YOU CONFESSED THAT YOU MURDERED THIS INNOCENT GIRL'S PARENTS?!" "It was for a reason, Pit," Devil Pit replied. "They don't deserve to live after what SHE did to me. Other people should feel the same fate like I did!" "I HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR EXCUSES!" Pit yelled again. "IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO ATONE FOR YOUR MONSTROUS CRIMES!" He then readied his Darkness Bow his body still yielded. "I'm with you, too, angel face!" said Magnus. "Kid! You and your dog need to hide. We'll take it from here." The girl nodded. "Come on, boy," she told her dog. "Let's hide back at the entrance." The dog nodded and he and the girl hid behind the entrance of the arena. "It doesn't matter if I'm not in your body anymore, Pit!" said Devil Pit. "I can still defeat you with my old body again. Time to bring out my new weapon." He then summoned the Gaol Blade. "Where did you get that?" asked Magnus. "After you and Pit defeated your old friend back at the castle, I entered inside it and found Gaol's remaining cursed armor," Devil Pit explained. "I then used her armor to create this weapon. With this, I will kill the both of you, and then the girl and dog will be joining you soon." "You are not going to hurt any more innocents!" Pit yelled. "You will pay for what you did to them!" said Magnus. "Fine then!" Devil Pit scoffed. "Ready yourselves, Pit and Magnus! It's payback time!" He blinked and his eyes turned black with blood pouring out of his sockets. The three warriors readied themselves to begin the fight.

Devil Pit started the battle with him charging at his foes with infused dark energy. "Yikes!" Pit yelped upon dodging it. "Let's see how well you can defeat me now!" said Devil Pit. "Get ready to feel the pain and misery once I'm finished with you and your ally!" "We'll see about that!" said Magnus. The human then swung his sword at Devil Pit only for him to block it with his Gaol Blade and push him back. He and Pit then slashed at each other with their weapons one by one with their melee combos. Pit then shot an arrow with his Darkness Bow right into Devil Pit's left eye. "Argh! My eye! Not again!" Devil Pit groaned in pain. "Direct hit!" said Pit. "Alright Magnus! Take him out!" "You got it, angel face!" Magnus complied and he swung his sword at Devil Pit to deal big damage. This nearly caused Devil Pit to fall off the platform, but he then pulled himself back up. "Playing dirty huh?" he said. "Then I'll just make things difficult for the both of you. Attack my centurions!" He then used his Gaol Blade to summon the centurions to attack Pit and Magnus. "So, it was YOU that sent those centurions to kill us," said Magnus. "Most of them followed my orders," Devil Pit explained. "However, others tended to figure out what was wrong with you, Pit. So I instead executed them in cold blood." Pit's eyes shot up after what he just heard. "You backstabber!" he yelled. "You will pay for tarnishing the angel's code of conduct!" "If that's what you wish, then so be it!" said Devil Pit. The centurions then attacked Pit and Magnus to slow them down from reaching the Ex-Captain. But the duo took them out and proceeded to take down Devil Pit. But the Devil wasn't going down easily and attacked the duo with their shooting attacks. Pit tried to counterattack with his arrows, only for Devil Pit to activate reflective shields with the Gaol Blade to bounce them back. " Hey! That's not fair!" Pit yelled. "Oh come on!" said Devil Pit. "Surely you faced Gaol like that before!" Pit and Magnus then continued to attack Devil Pit with their melee combos. Soon enough, Devil Pit was defeated. "I lost again!" he yelled in defeat. "Now explain yourself!" Magnus yelled, demanding for answers.

Devil Pit's Gaol Blade shattered after his loss and he blinked his eyes to return them back to normal. "Now tell us!" Pit yelled. "Where is Lady Palutena?!" "She's no longer going to help you, Pit," Devil Pit explained. "She is under my control now. With her on my side, you have nowhere else to go." "No! You have to be lying!" Pit yelled. "Lady Palutena would NEVER want to join you! She would 'banish' you from Skyworld again." "I can assure you that I am not lying," said Devil Pit. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have better things to do with my goddess lady. I'll be seeing you soon, flightless angel. HAHAHAHAHA!" He then flew away from the angel, humans, and dog. "Come back here!" Pit yelled until he sank to his knees and cried in tears. "This can't be real... He must be lying..." The girl and dog walked up to the saddened angel. "Don't worry, Mr. Angel," the girl told him. "There is still hope to fight that bad guy." "A-Are you sure?" Pit asked. The girl nodded in response and her dog barked in agreement. "I know someone who can help you win," the girl explained. "Give me a moment." She then walked to the sky, held her hands together, and began to pray. "I know you're there, great Goddess of Nature," she began. "If you can here me, an angel is in our world. He is in desperate need of your help. Please give him the power to save our world from that monster. He must be stopped, and our angelic hero will bring him to justice!" "Who is she praying to?" Magnus asked. "Wait..." Pit began. Great Goddess of Nature...? he thought. Is she praying to Viridi? Suddenly, Pit's wings started to glow green and he began to fly. "Hooray! It worked!" the girl cheered. "I guess whoever you called must have heard you," said Magnus. "Whew! What a relief," Pit sighed. "Thank you for helping me." "You're welcome, Mr. Angel," the girl replied. "Now you can get back at the monster for what he did to us." The dog happily barked in agreement. "Perhaps we should introduce ourselves before I go," said Pit. "I'm Pit, servant to the Goddess of Light, Palutena. What's your name?" "It's nice to see you, Pit," replied the girl. "I'm Lily and this is my dog, Trent." Said dog barked to introduce himself. "We're grateful to have you back and hope that Viridi will be on your side to fight the monster," Lily continued. "I hope so, too," Pit replied. "Goodbye team! Wish me luck!" He waved them goodbye and flew away to save Palutena. Magnus and Lily waved back while Trent barked happily of Pit's return. "I sure hope Pit can save his goddess soon now that he has a new ally," said Magnus. "I hope so, too," Lily agreed as they watched to sky to see their angel hero gone.

Pit then flew above the Decimated Town, received four more Recover Orbs to replenish his health, and began to fight with his Darkness Bow against Underworld Army enemies who soon spotted him. It didn't take very long to notice the centurions of Palutena's Army, who Devil Pit sent to stop his enemy, spotted the angel as well and Pit had no other choice but to fend them off. "I know that you're helping me now, Viridi," he began. "So reveal yourself." "Right..." said the Goddess of Nature. "I heard that human call me when you were in trouble. Lily is one of those humans who respected Nature than the other ungrateful ones. As you can tell, I'm the one controlling your flight path." "Really? How is that even possible?" Pit asked. "Don't you know? Anything Palutena can do, I can do better!" Viridi responded. "So. Do you want my help or not?" "Well I guess I have no other choice, since Devil Pit told me what he did to Lady Palutena," said Pit. "But can you at least tell me what happened to her?" "I'll do you one better. I'll show you," said Viridi. "Please fasten your seat belt. This is a nonstop flight to Skyworld." "Then I'm all in! Next stop; Skyworld!" said Pit. Viridi then flew Pit through the stormy weather while also avoiding airborne debris that were sucked in by the giant tornados. He then flew into the clouds and was near his destination. "We're approaching Skyworld," Viridi pointed out. "I'm praying that Lady Palutena is all right," said Pit. "You're praying? To who?" Viridi questioned. "You are one confused angel." But in all seriousness, I'm feeling the same way, she added in thought. I have a feeling that HE might be up to something and it is not good. Pit then received four more Recover Orbs to replenish his health again and flew up higher to see Skyworld completely destroyed. He was shocked. "What?! What happened here?!" he exclaimed. "It used to be so beautiful..." "Look what's become of it," said Viridi. Never would I have imagined HIM going too far to do THAT! she added in thought. Pit continued to fight more of Palutena's Army, sent by Devil Pit, still in shock about what he witnessed right now. "Palutena's gone off the deep end and destroyed Skyworld in the process," Viridi continued. "She's still fighting the Underworld Army, but she's mankind's enemy now too. Must be because of the work of Devil Pit." "And what about your Forces of Nature?" Pit asked. "Oh, they keep busy," Viridi responded. "But less so now that the humans are occupied with Palutena." "And to think, I was so worried about her..." Pit sighed in disbelief. "Only for that monster to tell me what happened to her!" "Well, if you're not too busy moping, there's something you should see," Viridi began and flew Pit forward to see, "Palutena's temple!" Pit was even more shocked to see it. Seeing Skyworld destroyed was one thing, but that was too much for him to bear. "It's all beat up!" he exclaimed. Suddenly, he saw Palutena's projection. "Well, it's been a while, Pit," she said. "It's like the entire world's been turned upside down!" Pit exclaimed. "What's going on?" "Everything changes, Pit. Even gods," Palutena started as she threw several islands at her poor angel. "And to be frank, I'm tired of fighting for those ungrateful humans. And I'm especially tired of dealing with you!" "No!" Pit cried in disbelief. "You heard her," said Viridi. "This is real." "She's being manipulated. Someone else is pulling the strings!" Pit exclaimed. I think Devil Pit might the cause of this! he added in thought. "No, you're the only puppet here," Palutena responded, laughing menacingly. "I have to help her! Viridi! Send me in!" Pit ordered. "Are you sure about that?" the Goddess of Nature asked. "Absolutely!" Pit affirmed. "Don't say I didn't warn you!" Viridi warned and flew Pit to the temple. "Lady Palutenaaaaaa!" Pit cried as he flew straight towards the temple, but he didn't notice somebody was right in front of him, charging at his direction. "I don't think so!" he yelled as he swung his Magnus Club at Pit, sending him flying backwards. "AAAAHHHH!" he cried. "Wait! That wasn't supposed to happen!" Viridi exclaimed in disbelief. Pit regained his senses and balance and saw Devil Pit.

"What do you think you're doing?" asked the Devil. "I'm not going to let you reach the Goddess of Light that easily." "Get out of my way, Devil Pit!" Pit yelled back. "I have to save Lady Palutena from the likes of you!" Devil Pit smiled sinisterly. "Hah! As if your so called 'goddess lady' is going to listen to you," he responded. "She's under my control! We'll do whatever we please. You cannot do anything to stop us." Pit looked directly at Palutena's projection. "Lady Palutena! Don't listen to this monster!" he yelled. "He's trying to cause chaos! Listen to me please! I know you're still in there, so cease all of this immediately!" "So sorry, Pit," replied the Goddess of Light. "But I'm afraid that Devil Pit is telling the truth. You've become nothing more than a puppet that needs to be banished. Devil Pit, deal with this pest!" "With pleasure, my lady!" Devil Pit complied. "I hope you're ready for a world of pain, Pit, because I'm not going down again this time!" "Oh you're going to regret saying those words!" Pit yelled as the two readied themselves to fight again.

The angel and Devil started the battle by slashing at each other with their weapons. Pit noticed that Devil Pit was yielding that familiar weapon. "Hey wait a minute!" he exclaimed. "How did you get the Magnus Club?" "During my first fight against you and Magnus, I was absorbing that mortal's powers to form this weapon," Devil Pit explained. "Despite him not being a deity of some kind, he is indeed strong enough to absorb just like Gaol and her armor." "How are you even capable in absorbing powers of others deities or humans?" Viridi asked. "It's all about the powers deities yield and the forms mortals used to fight back in the Overworld," said Devil Pit. "But once I'm done with you, flightless angel, I will spread chaos throughout the entire universe. But not only that, I will finally get my revenge and kill that so called 'Goddess of Nature!'" "Not if I have anything to say about it!" said Pit. The two of them continued to fight. Then the goddess started to talk with each other, but it wasn't the same like last time. "Why do you even try to protect humanity anyway?" Palutena asked. "You tried to get rid of them because of your selfish desires! I warned you about having no right to interfere with humanity, but you still do what you had to do!" "Hey! That was all in the past, Palutena!" Viridi yelled. "At least I didn't stoop so low in murdering them!" "Oh, Viridi, you never change do you?" said Palutena. "Devil Pit, take down that sorry excuse of an angel to prove I'm wrong!" "I will do as you are told, Lady Palutena," Devil Pit replied. "Hey! Only I can say Lady Palutena, not you!" Pit shouted at the Devil. The two of them continued onwards in the battle until Pit decided to take things difficult. He then hid behind an island. "Pit! What are you doing?" Viridi asked. "Quiet, Viridi!" Pit shushed. "I need to plan this surprise attack carefully." He waited for the opportunity to strike. "Where are you?~" Devil Pit sang, menacingly. "I know your here.~" Must be careful. Must be careful. Pit thought to himself. He then noticed that Devil Pit was close and shot an arrow right into his stomach. "Ouch!" Devil Pit groaned. "Now to finish this!" Pit yelled. He then continued to use a melee combo at Devil Pit until he was finally defeated. Devil Pit's Magnus Club shattered upon his defeat. "Shit! I better head back to the temple to recover!" he said and flew away back into Palutena's Temple. "Oh no you don't!" Pit yelled. "Get back here!" He then flew towards Devil Pit to chase him into the temple, only for a gigantic barrier to come up as soon as Devil Pit entered. Pit was knocked into the barrier and flew backwards. "Aaaaugh!" he cried. "Oops! I forgot to mention," said Viridi. "Her temple is protected by a force field." "And you decided to tell me this now?!" Pit yelled. "Well, there's nothing more we can do here," said Viridi. "Come on, Pit." She opened up a light pillar to whisk Pit to her temple.

Meanwhile, Devil Pit returned to Palutena's temple and met with Palutena and her army. "Well my lady, I have good news and bad news," he said. "The good news is that we've already began to slow Pit down in order for our plans to be complete thanks to the barrier. The bad news is that he's with our enemy, Viridi. Because of that, they're planning to stop us from completing our master plan. We need to think of a plan to slow them down." "B-But... But Captain," said a centurion. "You don't even know what you're-" He was suddenly interrupted by Devil Pit grabbing him in the throat and choking him. "Shut up!" he yelled. "I know EXACTLY what I'm doing! You have no right to interrupt me!" "Let him go, Devil Pit," Palutena ordered and Devil Pit released the centurion from his grasp. "As you may know, Pit is going to find a way to destroy the barrier," the Goddess of Light continued. "So I'm going to send you on a mission; find the location where Pit is hiding and follow him on the quiet. There might be something you need to collect in order to slow him down even further when he's on another mission." "I understand," Devil Pit replied. "However, I have to go alone. These centurions will only get in my way. I would advise you to set them up as defenses in case they show up as a counterattack." "Understood," said Palutena. "But in order for you come prepared with the mission." She then gave Devil Pit two weapons; a Flintlock Staff and a Palutena Blade. "Use these weapons for your mission so that you can take down that angel," she concluded. "I appreciate it, Lady Palutena," said Devil Pit. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have an angel to hunt. I'll see you on the flipside." He then flew away from the temple to track Pit down.

Meanwhile, Pit arrived at Viridi's temple and looked around. He never imagined it to be so pretty, unlike the previous temple he always lived in of course. "What happened here?" he asked. "Well, you've still got to prep for battle," said Viridi. "Like it or not, I'm taking over Palutena's duties." "You're joking, right?" Pit questioned. "Hmph. I told you," Viridi scoffed. "Anything Palutena can do, I can do better." Pit looked around and realized that all of his weapons he used in his previous missions and battles against his Devilish enemy were still in the Arms Alter. "Wow! Everything I need is still here!" he exclaimed, impressed. "I guess I didn't give you enough credit. You're kind of awesome, Viridi." "Do you have to be such an insufferable suck-up all the time?" Viridi asked. "It won't get you anywhere with me. My only concern is taking down Hades." And also my other concern is taking down Devil Pit, since he's still lurking around, she added in thought. "Anyway, you can equip weapons and powers here, just like always," she continued. "Got it?" "Got it," Pit reluctantly affirmed. "Good. Now let me take you to your bedroom," said Viridi. She then took Pit to his room where he can sleep. "So, what do you think?" she asked the angel. "I gotta say, I didn't expect you to help me keep me company," Pit replied. "But I guess I could get used to this. Being away from Lady Palutena might be a bit of a pain, considering that I see her like a mother figure, but I believe that you can help me out with everything." This made Viridi blush and look away slightly. "W-Well, just get some sleep," she stuttered. "We need to prepare ourselves for the mission." "Right," said Pit. Viridi left Pit's room while said angel hopped onto his bed and snuggled himself to relax. But as he began to fall asleep, he started having a nightmare.

Begin dream

"Huh?" Pit gasped as he opened his eyes. He looked around and noticed that he was in a dark space. "Where am I? Am I back in the ring again?" He then heard a loud scream. It sounded very familiar. "Was that...Lady Palutena?!" he exclaimed. "I better go and help her!" He quickly ran to the direction of the scream until he found something very shocking. He saw Devil Pit, mangling her into pieces with his Sword of Death and laughing sinisterly. "HAHAHAHAHA! THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR WHAT YOU DID TO ME!" he laughed. Pit cried in fear and shock about what he was witnessing. "Hey! Stop!" he yelled. Devil Pit saw him and stared coldly with his eyes. "It's too late. She's already dead," said Devil Pit. "But she wasn't the only one that got herself killed." He snapped his fingers to reveal something very gruesome. Pit saw his other friends and allies ruthlessly murdered, but what also shocked him is that one of his allies was Magnus. He was currently getting stabbed by...Pit? "Wait...! Is that...ME?!" he gasped. The evil form of himself turned around and saw his real self. "That's right! You joined my side to help me get rid of these fools!" said Devil Pit. "But since you're no longer needed here, we need to annihilate you! CHARGE!" Devil Pit and Evil Pit charged at the real Pit, struck powerful stabs, and tore him to pieces with their weapons. They both laughed sinisterly, "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

End dream

"AAAAAHHHHHH!" Pit screamed as he woke up with a fright. He began to breath heavily but soon enough he calmed down. "Oh..." he sighed in relief. "It was just a bad dream. But I don't feel so good. I think I need a breather really quickly." He then got out of bed and walked to the balcony to catch his breath, even though he knew that it was raining outside.

Pit stared into the rainy sky as rain poured down on him. He was still traumatized about Palutena turning against him and the nightmare about Devil Pit and an evil form of himself killing everyone. "I can't believe it's happening right now," he said to himself. "First I witnessed Palutena completely under Devil Pit's control and now I had a nightmare about him and myself killing all of my friends... *sniff* Why do I have to live on like this...?" He suddenly sobbed in tears about what stung his heart the most on the railing. Viridi slowly started to wake up upon hearing the angel's saddened tears. "Huh? W-What's going on?" she said. She got out of bed and opened her door gently. She discovered that nobody was near her room and must be far away from it. She walked slowly towards to the balcony and found Pit crying on the railing. "Pit...?" she asked. "What's wrong?" Pit immediately wrapped his arms around Viridi and continued to sob on her shoulder. "It's horrible!" he cried. "I had a nightmare about Devil Pit killing you, Lady Palutena, and all of my other friends and allies. What's worse is that I also saw an evil reflection of myself with that monster!" Viridi suddenly saw the sadness on the angel's face and slowly embraced him. "Shh... Let it all out..." she told him. "Everything will be okay. It was just a bad dream." They then let go of each other after Pit stopped sobbing. "I promise that we'll get Palutena back from that monster," Viridi continued. "Now go get some sleep before you catch a cold from all this rain." Pit nodded and they both went back into their rooms to go back to sleep. But Pit still wasn't feeling very well.
